Why is it that people feel like skipping is such an issue? I really don’t get it.
Why are you so concerned with how others play the game?
Dear god no. WvW is already a contest of “whose server has more people in WvW”
we don’t need to make population even more important.
They wouldn’t be worth much. Lots of people at higher fractal levels like myself have banks filled with ascended rings
Dude says people don’t have more than 50 gold without playing the trading post or buying gems, I showed him a player with more than 50 gold who doesn’t play the trading post or buy gems.
Pic is outdated now though, I’ve got 80 gold in the bank now.
There are nice people, there are jerks. Only you get to decide if you’re having more fun playing faster with jerks, or slower with nice people.
Why do you call someone who doesn’t want to prolong a speed run with some meaningless kitten-chatting, a jerk?
#
I don’t agree with the OP. You criticize a group of players but don’t really try to understand them. There are different, perhaps better ways of socializing with other people than chatting while doing a dungeon speed run. When these players play a game, they actually want to play it – read, while in a dungeon, a fractal or WvW borderlands, they want to do a dungeon, a fractal or fight. If they want a chat, they join a guild TS, hang in LA, use fb or meet someone IRL. They may have a more serious, professional, effort-and-reward approach to this game, but is this a reason to call them elitist snobs or jerks?
tl;dr - group up with people who share your playstyle.
Honestly there’s a HUGE amount of disdain here for everyone who wants to take and efficient and methodical approach to stuff.
Personally I think it’s jealousy. People get jealous of others because they do runs faster, and therefore get gear faster and have more spending money.
Really there’s a stereotype here that if you ever skip a mob or ask for people to have appropriate gear or want to run with people who are experienced, then you’re obviously a stuck-up elitist kitten. It’s a disturbing trend that shows that a vocal portion of the player base feels like anyone who doesn’t play the game they feel it should be played is a terrible person.
Either you’re exaggerating or you’re the unluckiest person alive.
I pugged from level 2 to level 31 and I’ve had to quit ONCE due to someone disconnecting.
The one that annoys me most if the ‘run past everything’ groups. All mobs inside drop yellows and most drop items that make coin.
People seem to forget why they are trying to kill stuff in the first place
Nope. If they actually guarantee yellow+ drops, people will kill them and ANET will soon nerf them. People skip when it’s not efficient. The extra 30 minutes spent killing things could very well be used to do another run.
In most speed runs I’ve gotten blues and greens, while in normal runs I managed to earn 2G due to lodestone drops. The enemies in dungeons and fractals do have a high chance of dropping yellows and valuable items, by skipping them you’re exchanging what could have been your loot for time. I suppose it’s a preference. I prefer expensive loot.
That one time you got a lodestone drop doesn’t justify killing every mob every time.
The simple fact of the matter is, if killing mobs was worth it, people would do it. Plain and simple. If killing mobs was worth the time spent, people would kill mobs.
I belive you can do a fractal lvl 2 run for the daily, should get the pristine relic
Daily doesn’t give pristine relics below level 10
Speed runs are awful, It’s like a 5 person one night stand, everyone looks at each other with judgmental eyes and cannot wait to get it over and done with. Majority of the time the people who I’ve seen do speed runs, when I do them, want speed run people to carry them because they’re bad themselves.
That’s a completely wrong generalization.
That’s like if I said people who don’t do speed runs are bumbling idiots that spend 2 hours and 1 gold in repairs to do one path of AC explore.
That’s complete BS, stop making stuff up.
I’m looking at Gw2lfg.com right now and out of the past 5 LFM posts, only one asks for 80s. And even then it just says “80s preferred”
I’m pretty sure you’re just looking for an excuse to complain.
So let me get this straight.
No one’s in endgame zones. No one is in dungeons. No one is in fractals? Wow.
And really I love seeing people claim that it’s hard finding a group for low level fractals. Who do you REALLY think has a harder time finding a fractal group, you looking for level 1, or me looking for level 31?
I love playing with those “level 80 snobs” those “elitist no-nonsense speed run groups”
Not only does the run go faster but I find most of the players are friendly and we’ll have interesting conversations. In fact it’s more likely since there’s less frustration from dying, wiping, and taking forever.
You can buy it with dungeon tokens. These also have the better looking skins.
You can also get it from karma vendors in Orr.
Or you could use ash legion spy kits.
So here I am in the IoJ borderlands, just minding my own business.
Hanging around at the little island in the bottom with the sentry on it.
When all of a sudden a very rude thief decides he’s going to attack me.
So, I go in and proceed to fight him only to find that in true CD fashion, he’s got 4 buddies with him. So I decide to high-tail it out of there. Naturally they don’t feel like letting me walk off, so they give chase.
Well I run across the bridge thinking they’ve surely given up by now. Only to be binded by that one guardian ability with the chains. Guess they haven’t. Run a little more, take more damage and more CC, but like the little train that could, I keep going.
Well I get close only to fall dangerously low on health. At the last minute with less than 1000 health I manage to switch to water and use my healing abilities, move a bit closer and I gain invincibility. At the same time I introduce them to my friends.
You know what, you’re totally right. Anet looked at those mobs that are skipped 99% of the time and was like “the drops they give are just too kitten good, let’s nerf that”
In fact, they did it just to target you.
It was just bad luck.
I’ve gotten a fractal weapon my last 3 runs in a row.
A mace, a rifle, and a longbow.
I play thief and ele.
I find it hilarious how many people make threads here to complain about that announcement only to prove that they were too lazy to read the entire thing.
I don’t think there are many people who have more than 50g and do not
a.) play the auction house (flipping orders)
b.) buy gems and change those to moneyOption a.) is relatively time-consuming and I don’t like to do this activity when I could be playing the game. This is basically an anti-fun mechanic. Yeah now lots of peope probably would disagree, because this is the way they become rich and are happy with it. Perhaps some of those people even like this activity – find it fun. I can only speak for myself: I don’t like this.
In my opinion, I don’t have the numbers though but I guess depending on the reality in our guild, the difference between the amount of money some rich people have (those who spend most of the time in the tradingpost or with much RL-money) opposed the amount of money poor people have (those who actually are in the gameworld) is far too big.
At least money isn’t everything in GW2.
Haven’t bought a single gem in my life. Have only tried to play the TP once (and lost money off of it)
Full exotics/ascended gear including an ascended back I spent about 40 gold on, and a triforge pendant that cost me about 85 gold.
You just have to actually play the game and not sit in lions arch alt tabbed to the official forums.
It used to have 5 torches that needed activating, pugs don’t like coordination. And I dare not mention kits, that rustles alotta jimmies.
The path itself also takes longer than the other 2, and everyone is in such a rush these days..
Used to? Have they removed it?
Haven’t done path 3 since I finished it for the achievement months ago.
Guild Wars 2 is rated T for teen. 13 years and older.
I think nudity requires a mature rating of M 17+ or an adult rating of 18+.
That’s the issue.
With nudity in the game the ESRB can change the rating to mature, and that could hurt sales.
Report them – Anet bans for that kind of stuff
Rate definitely goes up higher your level. At level 10 I almost never got a ring (maybe 1/2 every 10 runs) at level 26+ I get a ring almost every other run.
WvW, map completion, speed running CoF, working towards dungeon master, spvp, fractals, etc.
i think this dungeon should be taken out, for so fact no one ever does events know
2 exotic weapons.
6 pieces of exotic armor with 6 superior runes.
3 pieces of exotic accessories.
3 pieces of ascended accessories.
I don’t think fractal weapons should be tradeable. They’re purely cosmetic and should exist as proof of your accomplishments in the Fotm dungeon.
I like the idea of removing the RNG component to them though.
Hate to break it to you, but it’s probably on your end.
The mists.
15chars
Because it’s part of the world.
100% completion means just that, 100%.
It means EVERYTHING. It doesn’t mean the parts you find convenient. It doesn’t mean the PvE parts. It means 100% of the map down to the last point of interest.
Honestly combos are kind of pointless in CoF speed runs. Sure you can sit around trying to stack might or whatever, but when you kill a boss in 15 seconds the time spent trying to do that is pointless and probably makes it take even longer.
Thieves are good, warriors are good. I just did about 4 runs in like 30 minutes with 2 thieves, 2 warriors, 1 mesmer. That’s including time spent resetting the dungeon, vendoring, etc
(edited by Wasabi Kitty.8247)
Your odds of getting a fractal weapon go up as you get higher in fractal levels. I hear level 50 has like a 75% chance of giving a fractal weapon.
The final boss has some interesting mechanics with the crystals and everything, the issue is that it’s usually quicker and easier to ignore the crystals and just DPS him down, that and even back when it was a lot harder to DPS him down people still did it. The reason being that he spawned a ton of crystals and he spawned them very frequently, to the point that he spawned them faster than you could kill them.
They should make it so crystals also give him armor and power in addition to regeneration (I know after 66% they give him might but this is again negligible), similar to how lupicus gets massively stronger after each grub. Basically buff the hell out of crystals effect on him. Then make him summon them less often so it’s actually realistic to clear the crystals.
They should put a door in at the part where they’re trying to execute crea irontooth so that you have to kill the mobs on the bridge before it opens, similar to arah path 3 with the door before the first 2 bosses.
Had a fun fight with a thief in the CD borderlands this evening. Was using pistol/dagger and just… kept constantly stealthing. Like literally would shot at me a bit, and then immediately go into stealth. Shoot for a bit, and then back into stealth. Only way I was able to win was by basically force the thief into stealth until he ran out of initiate/utilities. Took forever.
You sound a little bitter.
You should be able to open a dungeon in explorable mode if you’ve done story mode on any character on your account, not just that character.
It’s annoying that I can’t open CoF explorable on my thief even though I’ve already done it before.
I always use my scepter in dungeons, it’s very useful and has given me great results.
With just a bit of condition damage and a superior sigil of corruption it puts out great DPS with the earth auto.
Dragon’s tooth is great damage with a relatively low cast/channel time and a low cooldown, you just need to learn to use it properly.
Phoenix is amazing. Does good aoe damage, cures conditions, and gives you vigor.
Shatterstone does decent aoe damage, and applies vulnerability. And it’s cooldown is only 2 seconds.
Water Trident heals you and does damage, great ability.
Air does decent dps and it’s cool when it bugs out and you just run around with your arm extending constantly shooting out lightning.
Rock barrier gives you 250 toughness (which is around 10% damage reduction) and can be used offensively for damage and as a projectile finisher.
Dust devil is an AOE blind that deals damage. Nuff said. And comparing it to an NPC ability is just moronic. That’s like saying every ability in the game sucks because it’s not as good as Giganticus Lupicus’ giant AOE in phase 2
Level 26 solely with PUGS.
It’s actually easier at higher levels since most of the bad pubs have given up by the time you reach 20+, haven’t seen a 5 signet warrior since level 4
Greatsword is pretty overrated.
ESPECIALLY in PvP. Nothing is funnier to me in PvP than when a warrior runs up to me and uses 100 blades like I’m just going to stand there and eat it. I promptly move 2 feet to the left and proceed to take a good chunk of his health away.
Obsidian sanctum, simply because it throws the completely unpredictable element of other players at you.
Yea lets give daggerstorm a 30 second cooldown. Let’s lower the cooldown on thieves guild so the 2 thieves it summons are up constantly.
I didn’t see you complaining a few weeks ago when TC was bashing FA around with it’s superior numbers.
There’s so many ways to deal with it, you just have to be willing to actually do those things instead of standing around spamming 1 all day.
It looks like you got soft after bashing everything in WvW with superior numbers and have to re-learn how to WvW without a massive numbers edge. Good luck with that.

Thanks to CD for giving me like half of the 100 events needed for my monthly achievement off of defending stonemist.
I don’t think you understand how game design works.
Everything is subject to change until it’s release (and even after it’s released)
If anet released too much information then they’d be shooting themselves in the foot, since something would inevitably be changed and thus lead to infinite forum QQ.
Daily achievements aren’t something you go out and do, it’s something you accomplish naturally through playing the game.
I have never felt like I needed to go out and do something for my daily, I get it naturally through playing the game.
1. This is an old topic.
2. This is why we can’t have nice things. This is why we can’t have more challenging and unique bosses.
Lupicus is an easy boss. It’s 100% pattern recognition. When he does A you do B. When he does X you do Y. Simple stuff.
Path 1: stack together and kill grubs.
Phase 2: You see those giant circles? Stay out of them and away from the incoming projectiles. When he dashes to you, dodge.
Phase 3: Stay out of the incredibly easy to see incoming damage areas.
Bring projectiles blocking, if you’re an ele and you aren’t using a focus for this fight then you’re bad at dungeons.
Lupicus with agony, oh how the pugs would cry.
It is a decent cut. That said, the spike of people converting gold to gems has made the cost skyrocket to the point where it’s not worth blowing 20 gold on less than 1300 gems. I wanted two more character slots too. : /
If you don’t spend money on gems, then you should buy gems in advance of sales and then buy the items during the sale.
