In that same shot I also see a guardian with a scepter/shield that has aegis on him.
As a Christian, I find the new bug highly offensive – everyone seems to be stuck in a crucifixion pose, and there appears to be no way to disable this. Even worse, I’ve heard this might be intentional.
Please remove this from the game, as I’m sure other Christians are offended also.
It’s a plane pose not a crucifixion pose omg…
Wooden crosses don’t make airplane noises.
I never use post processing anyway. It just makes the screen fuzzy. Makes it looks like I’m in a sauna or something.
People QQing about it is the funniest part
I know, right?
If something like THIS can completely ruin your whole day… you need some perspective in your life
Honestly, i was looking forward to doing dungeons tonight. That wont be happening. Cant see the animations of my character, which is irritating beyond all belief. How dare some of us want stuff thats fun for an entire day.
I’m sure you will survive.
People QQing about it is the funniest part
People are QQing because they bought the game for enjoyment and some people aren’t enjoying it; myself, my wife, my brother-in-law & my mom included. It was fine for the 1st 5ish minutes but after that it becomes too distracting to even play. We recently finished our Personal Stories on our main characters (kill Zhaitan), I’m glad we did it then & not today. If there was an Opt-out option it would be better.
Then don’t play for today, it’s not the end of the world you know.
People QQing about it is the funniest part
The wiki says he is god of fire, with his 2 fiery hounds and himself quite fiery.
But what determines or shows Balthazar to be god of fire, except from some random NPC lines and scrolls? There is 1 historical event i found on the wiki which is the following line
“Balthazar came in fire and wrath, carrying the head of his father and leading his fierce hounds, Temar and Tegon. He swept Orr with a cleansing flame.”
Is there anything else associating Balthazar with fiery, or should i just accept it.
All the information we have on the gods is from random NPCs and scrolls. Thats pretty much how in-game lore works. If the NPCs in-game are saying, you find some books/scrolls in-game saying in, than you can pretty much rest assured that what they are saying is accurate.
Although there has been a case (can’t remember off the top of my head) where an NPC was wrong, and what he said contridicted some other things discovered through other NPCs/books/scrolls, but that seemed to be a special case. (I know it involved an old Jotun, but can’t remember who are what exactly.)
The Jotun storyteller in Hoelbrak?
There is also this: When the world has the Favor of the Gods, statues of Balthazar light up with flames burning along the base, and the eyes burn brightly.
While he is both, I personally see Balthazar more as a god of war than a god of fire.
Thanks! Good to see Personal Story has been restored
You mean “being restored”
So.. Good to see personal story has being restored? :P
Ok all jokes aside, what is wrong with “has been restored”?
The point, I think, was that it has not yet been restored. It’s at least 8 weeks away from restoration. So “has been” doesn’t work, “is being” does (and the person correcting you left out the “is.”
I see. I thought the update was released today my bad ^^
I believe it’s the Asura personal story if you choose to join the vigil. Don’t qoute me on that though.
It’s part of the Asura’s level 30 story arc where you help the three orders. If you choose Batanga/Whispers she’ll take you there.
True but I was talking about the secret base in Gandarren Fields, not the secret base in Kessex Hills
There is a difference between being the first, and being there before humans imo.
All I’m saying is, merely being there before humans doesn’t justify anything. They conquered the land, just as the charr did.
And didn’t the forgotten simply retreat to the crystal desert as humans arrived? I don’t recall there ever being an all out war between humans and forgotten. I could be wrong though.

Usually debates like this come down to “God exists!” “No he doesn’t!”.
But this time it comes down to discussing wether atheists have a lack of belief or simply believe god doesn’t exist. Interesting turn of events.
Thanks! Good to see Personal Story has been restored
It’s probably for the best this thread gets locked indeed. It adds nothing to the game and is just an endless spiral.
Praise the Lord, Hallelujah. God will smite these atheists.
The power of the almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster compels you!
One thing is for sure. Almost every current religion believes their god is the one true god. They leave no room for other religions. They can’t all be right. So at the very least they are all false except for one.
Funny thing is, while the existance of a higher power can’t be disproven, the existance of the christian god can. Many things this god supposedly has done like: create everything in 7 days, put the earth at the center of the universe, start the human race with just one man and one woman and many other things are all proven false.
So even if their god exists, it would not be the god their religion describes.
Nowhere does the bible say the earth is the center of the universe (the catholic church believed this a very long time ago).
Nowhere did I say it is stated in the bible. It was stated by the church, which always claims to relay the word of god.
If Atheism is the lack of belief how can you get anybody to believe in it?
I’ll try to explain it very easily.
If a person follow any religion, he is a Theist
If a person doesn’t follow a religion be believe in a Deity (God, Allah, Vishnu, etc …) he is Agnostic.
If a person doesn’t believe in any deity, he is an Atheist.
There is also Deism.

I do not believe in this Atheism.
You’re quite free not to
Though it makes me wonder how one can believe or “not believe” in a concept that states there is nothing to believe in in the first place.
The beauty about science, logic and reason is that it’s true wether you believe in it or not
I’m atheist and I don’t mind people talking about god (no matter what god it is).
A true atheist would not try to shutdown other points of view. Then you are just as bad as any religious dogma.

Indeed!! It’s all I care about atm really. For me it’s the main addition of this expansion.
Suspense to people who like to plan is horrible.
So much this. I would very much like to prepare and get the right gear/skins for them.
“For kittens sake. Kitten kitten and kitten the kitten what a kitten go kitten or else I kitten you, stupid kitten.”
This is basically the type of feedback you can expect in most PvP environments
@Cure I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at… I agree with the historical comparisons, but I don’t know what you’re trying to say with them. Are you arguing that because real world humans did it it’s not bad? Or that it means we’re hypocrites for condemning it? Either way I emphatically disagree, but I would like to know your intent before I attack your position.
No I’m say real world humans have done horrible things in the past but we don’t hold it against them (in general). Because the Charr have done bad things in the past it’s more than possible that people would get over it.
The Charr also attacked Orr and Kryta. Which was not their land.
Um… the best defense is a good offence?
How is that relevant to attacking nations that were not originally involved in the conflict at all?
Because they would most likely have gotten involved.
Why would they, the human nations hated eachother. The game is even named after the wars they fought.
Besides wiping out entire nations because of an assumption is quite evil imo.

Are you sure? Because i am certain it is about chest farming, and skipping most of the events before Breach by joining a right instance.
Maybe for you.
Easy to counter. “Charr were here first”, “humans are invaders in Tyria as continent and probably in Tyria as world” and “humans kicked charr out, then charr kicked out humans”.
Humans are not to blame for the fact their distant ancestors might have been dumped here by the six gods.
And the argument still stands. Charr kicked out original inhabitants, got kicked out themselves, reconquered it. Still does not make them the original inhabitants and more deserving of Ascalon than any other race except for the Grawl or Dwarfs.
The only right the Charr have on Ascalon is right by conquest. They conquered it so they own it. But the charr think it’s their birthright because they believe they were the original inhabitants. That’s simply not the case.
I’m not saying the Charr don’t belong in Ascalon, they can have it as far as I’m concerned. All I am saying is they don’t deserve Ascalon simply because they were there first.

People tend to forget that the charr were NOT the original settlers of Ascalon.
It’s a little obscure piece of lore, but charr conquered Ascalon twice. Once before humanity arrived, and once after. The original inhabitants of Ascalon is implied to have been the dwarves – and the grawl.
Relevant links:
- Lore on Kathandrax Steelsoul, a dwarf who fought back the charr in what’s now called the Blood Legion Homelands, he was buried where he died in an elaborate catacombs.
- There’s a line here indicating the charr’s general direction of invasion that ended with Ascalon: north, west, then south. It’s the second paragraph.
- Source that the charr enslaved the grawl when they conquered Ascalon the first time.
Holy cow that is awesome. Saving this.
Perfect to use everytime the “charr owned it first” argument pops up.
The Charr also attacked Orr and Kryta. Which was not their land.
I think it was more about just killing humans rather than regaining land but that’s just me.I think the Charr’s actions have been glorified a lot. As Aaron already pointed out, they did many horrible things and it wasn’t just some noble struggle to regain their homeland. It was one big slaughter, torture, genocide and cannibal fest. And if it was really just about regaining their land, then why attack the other human nations as wel?
BUT that was then. I like the present day Charr, they are definitely the good guys. All the main races are. Except maybe the plants. ^^
While I’m generally your opinion, I don’t really get, why they were canibals.. they ate humans, but they are a different species, so this wouldn’t be cannibalism. Did they also eat other charr and I overlooked it?
You are right it doesn’t really count as cannibalism since humans and charr are different races. But I couldn’t really find another term for eating sentient lifeforms of other races.

I don’t think this is the case. When I was out of combat with my revenant I saw the little arrows pop up above the utility skills. You know, the arrows that allows you to switch your utility skills. Even above the elite and healing skill it popped up.
As it stands now, those arrows are only for changing the order of the utility skills.
after Ellen Kiel’s tragic failure to protect it
What everyone seems to forget is that Kiel actually called for more defenses and preparations for a possible attack from Scarlet. But she was ignored by the rest of the council. You know, those other guys that also rule LA? Kiel isn’t the sole ruler of LA you know, she is just one voice in a council of nine.

Play more WvW and expend your perspective.
Not all traits are for all game modes.
Nuff said.

Atm I’m worried about the whole set in stone skill thing. Pre-determined weapon skills is one thing. But pre-determined weapon, heal, utility AND elite skills? Doesn’t seem like a good idea.
You can keep on whining to Anet
All I want is some more information on Specializations, there is no need to be snide.
I wish they’d tell something about specializations already! Just something! Anything!
Because it’s not done and it’s not ready yet!
Ofc they can’t talk about an unfinished project.Developers talk about content that’s still under development all the time I don’t see what the problem is. By that logic developers could never say anything about upcoming content ever, until the day it is released.
I’m not asking for much, just something..
They talked about the other objects because they’re close to completion, so ofc they have something to talk about it. For specialization, it probably is not even half complete for some classes. They can’t talk about it until it’s sufficient enough to talk about it without disappointing the majority of player-base.
Then why did they already tell us the ranger specialization is called Druid and uses a staff on PAX south? You can’t convince me no progress whatsoever was made since then.

GW2 is fundamentally a very traditional MMO.
It’s funny because being different from traditional MMO’s is one of the game’s main selling points.
I remembered when they removed the guild name “Hard Core Pwn” for being against the EULA naming policy even though it’s reference is 100% legal.
I think ethics and morality play a larger part than the actual name itself and in this case the casual reference to the use of cannabis would not be something they would want exposed to the under 18 demographic.
They also removed a name called “black afro”. Even though the character (asura) was black and had an afro. Apparantly the mere mention of the word “black” is considered racist..
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
I think it would still be banned. I live in the Netherlands and weed is legal here, but then again, Anet is an american company.

Yes they are hiding the release date. And don’t tell me they don’t have one. A company must have some internal deadline or at least a rough estimate.
