Yeah that is definitely a trap.
the Captain’s Council keep talking in circles about defense spending
That would be better though. For the past few years, Lions Arch has suffered a major assault 4 times. First Risen, then Karka, Then Aetherblades and finally Scarlet’s army. And LA isn’t exactly a fortress, most of it’s buildings are made from scrap wood, there is no artillery anywhere, no fortifications basically nothing to defend it. Yes there is a small vigil fortress but having the entire city conquered and destroyed except for that small fortress doesn’t help much either.
As a result LA is ruined. After all those assaults the captain’s council should turn LA in one big super fortress.

How about we wait until it is released?
And yet people would take that as a promise and if it wasn’t released within a week a major kittenstorm would happen.
Then that’s their own fault for misinterpreting Anet’s words.
Soooo….still no update or communication? Does the patch need a day or two of QA? Or a week or two? How is the QA going so far? Is everything panning out or is it a jumbled mess? A little information would be nice to hear.
What can they say if there is nothing new to report?
“Hello guys, I just dropping in to say that there is nothing to say. Bye!”
A status report about their progress would be nice.
An example:
We are still not ready to release the new build but we are making good progress. We hope to release the new build within a week.
With that simple response you reassure people that the QA test is going well and give them a rough timeframe without actually promising/confirming anything.
I have a Logitech G600 gaming mouse that I love, but my biggest complaint is that I can’t remap the scroll to anything else. Is it actually possible with just using autohotkey to change this?
Really? That’s weird, my G500 can remap the scroll. And I don’t mean the click, but the actual scrolling.
3rd party is fine as long as it does not give you an advantage or modify game files.
Soooooo…. When’s the patch?
When it is ready.
When is it ready/done/finished/fixed/completed?
I want to use my scroll to perform one click, for example one tick-of-scroll should do one click
I think you just found the perfect loophole
At least we’ll still get the patch before Half Life 3 is confirmed.
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Valve just recently did an interview in which they openly addressed the fact that they have been far too silent with their fans instead of being more transparent and they want to remedy that.
Link to that interview? :O
this, in my opinion is bag game design
Awful aren’t they? Those bags littering Orr.

Dragon AgeIt’s actually quite easy to make a game with no grind and only content. The thing is, you won’t be able to play it for a loooong time. All of the individual titles in those franchises I played like 100 to 400 hours each. Guild Wars 2 I played 2,500 hours.
And that’s what MMO devs want, to keep you playing. So yea, it is possible, they just won’t do it.
Your list of non grindy MMO’s contains no MMO
And If you actually read the rest of the thread after this comment was made you would have known why.
What would you be doing differently if the patch was coming out today? Does having it today or tomorrow or next week make a hill of beans worth of difference in how you are planning your life and/or game time?
Also, they clearly stated that they need more QA testing on it before it can be released. In other words, something isn’t working quite the way it’s supposed to, and they don’t want to release it without being sure it will work correctly. There are no assumptions there, that is what Gaile said, translated for you.
However, you CAN infer that the thing that is not working is game-breaking in some way, whether it’s glitches/crashes, or exploits. Would knowing exactly what KIND of game-break they’re dealing with make a difference to whether you think it’s reasonable for them to delay the release of the patch? Whether it’s a problem with stability, a weird visual glitch with the new camera system, or something as specific as “a crash-to-desktop when someone uses the first person camera when wearing twilight arbor light jacket and arah light pants while wielding the silly scimitar and shattering clones inside of a necro’s dark field at the same time an ele is blasting a fire field”…
if a game-breaking issue was discovered just prior to release, that’s really all the info we need to know.
If it was an exploit, it’s probably better that we don’t know the details.
If it was just a bug or crash, but one that happens to be game-breaking… knowing the details doesn’t matter. As far as the rest of what you said…
Conscious delay of the release precursor crafting and SAB are not on the same level as this type of emergency-fix delay. Conscious delays are like going to a grocery store during a rush of customers and they only have a couple checkouts open because some of the cashiers are working on stocking. This patch delay is like going to a grocery store and having to wait in the checkout lane because the cashier suddenly came down with food poisoning from his lunch, vomited on the conveyor belt and they’re moving everyone to another lane while this one gets cleaned up.
Instead of complaining that you have to switch lanes, how about a little sympathy for the guy that puked in front of everybody? He’s embarrassed, sick, AND probably going to lose a day’s pay because he has to go home.
I’m not sure how this is relevant to what I said?
Probably because it isn’t. He assumed you were complaining about the delay itself, not the communication surrounding it. Which I agree with.
Though some people go immediately on the offensive as soon as they detect any form of criticism on the forums, wether it’s constructive or not.
I hope we can at least get a new release date soon, if not a rough estimate. For all we know it could be a delay of a day or a week.
If they had a date it is quite likely that they would have given us one. The problem with giving estimates is that people are unable to understand the difference between an estimation and a set in stone promise. Therefore it is quite unlikely that we will hear anything about a release until it is 100% ready.
That’s why I said ‘soon’. Not ‘right now’.
I hope we can at least get a new release date soon, if not a rough estimate. For all we know it could be a delay of a day or a week.
then they announce ON THE PATCH DAY that they are moving it.
Yeah that’s my problem too. If you are going to delay something, don’t do it on the day of the deadline. You can’t convince me Anet didn’t realize they couldn’t make the deadline until the last moment.
That and the fact there is no new release date. If it’s a delay of only one or two days then no big deal, but it could be a delay of a week or more for all we know.
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
I must say I am really disappointed and bummed by this for 3 reasons.
1. Delaying something on the day/day before (depending on your timezone), something is supposed to be released is not cool.
2. Also no new release date, just somewhere in the future apparantly.
3. And the reason why. A Q&A test? Why? Seems like something you should have done weeks ago, not on the day it’s supposed to be released..
You weren’t the only one with that theory and definitely not the first. Many people believed there was a sixth elder dragon since release because of the Crucible of Eternity.

I think the title of this thread perfectly fits the OP.
First bullfrogs, now toads?
What a ribbeting turn of events.
Oh goodness, I must comment on a clever pun. I’m sorry, but it’s required by my DNA!
then you would of loved the thread that got locked in general about GW2 being Pay to Wing puns everywhere
What I liked about that thread is how there was one guy who was completely oblivious to the fact it said Wing instead of Win, even after several replies.
They said it was a sneak peak and they will be back.
post source.
This was stated by Gaile in this very thread.
I am prepping my house to sell so I can get married. I was busy stripping paint, removing wallpaper, patching walls, cleaning to prep for painting and changing air registers. Excuse me if Guild Wars was not on my mind.
I’m glad your life is so incredibly simple that you can think to yourself, daily, ‘oh yeah, let me log into Guild Wars real fast!’. Congratulations. The world doe snot revolve around you, though, no matter what you have been told.
Translation: “Everyone who had the time to get these wings has no life.”
or if they didn’t repeat it daily enough times to even get 1 skin (likely to happen)
Their own fault. Still a poor comparison to not being able to play at all.
if not being able to log in daily to do the daily run is the players fault, then so is the inability to log in trough the 24 hour period.
Except you did not say “not being able to log in daily”
You simply said “they didn’t repeat it daily enough”. Implying they did play the game, they just didn’t bother to work on getting their weapons.
you can if they didn’t know that the game existed back then
Except I’m not talking about new players, I’m talking about players who once played, then stopped playing for over a year.
or if they didn’t have enough skills to do SAB hard mode
Comparing lack of skill to an inability to play for just one day because of RL reasons is still a poor comparison.

Same as above.
This content will come back. SAB skins? Tough luck if you want yellow and green ones.
Colin already confirmed the SAB will return in this interview (around the 17 minute mark).
Yes, Mirta is aware of that. However Mirta said the yellow and green skins won’t be coming back.
But do we know that for sure? I can’t recall a Dev saying those skins will never return.

The green/yellow skins were obtainable from the 3rd of September to the 10th of December. If there are really people out there unable to play for months due to RL reasons then they have my sympathy, but it’s still not comparable to not being able to play for just a day, as that is far more common than not being able to play for months.
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
now imagine how people feel about the 1 time only exclusive items that are yet to come back, despite leaving the game over 2 years ago. Like yellow and green SAB skins. Be happy that at least 1 day you’ll still be able to get them.
A pretty poor comparison.
You can’t really compare people who haven’t even touched the game for over a year to someone who couldn’t play for just 1 day for RL reasons.
…have some info on the specializations now?!
They are probably not even done yet.
Doesn’t mean they can’t say something.
Ranger specialization isn’t ready either but at least we know that it’s called Druid and gets access to a staff.
I can also see different glider skins being introduced into the Gem Store.
Skins aren’t pay to win
And it just flew right over your head a second time rofl..
I doubt we’ll see anything on specializations until after Pax and Rezzed. They don’t look like they are part of the demo (from the early access demo videos) so I doubt they’ll give info until then. Hopefully I’m wrong, but I doubt it.
Well I wouldn’t expect them to go into detail, but some small bits of information would be nice. Like specialization names and the weapons that come with it (Like they already did with the ranger).
Maybe today or tomorrow. New articles about HoT are usually released on Wednesday/Thursday.

In BogOtter’s latest video you can see the Mastery UI, and it refers to a race called The Exalted living in the Golden City. I assume these are the mursaat looking creatures we see in the trailer. Could this mean they are not Mursaat after all or is Exalted just a name the Mursaat are known to use? My knowledge on gw1 lore is a bit rusty.
For those that don’t want to watch the video, you can see all the Masteries listed here: http://www.mattsta.ninja/masteries

I’m looking at Bogotter’s video right now and he is showing the new Mastery UI and it’s really cool. Definitely worth my anticipation.
The only new content being released tomorrow are what the people recorded during the events ANET held and we’ve already got confirmation from both WP and MattVisual not to get overly hyped for it because it’s not going to be a large amount of new information. It’ll likely just be further in depth coverage on what we’ve already been shown and very little more.
If I recall, Matt mentioned that they were tight lipped on anything involving specializations during interviews.
dam…
It must be something substantial.
I doubt they would invite so many notable game reviewers/journalists and put an embargo on all the information they have recieved if it’s something insignificant.
I hope it’s about specializations, and if it’s not then I hope we at least get a deep dive/article about specializations this week.

Feature pack and Gear Unification ring a bell?
All items give zero attribute, rune, sigil, or infusion bonuses in PvP.
All items function as level 80 exotic-quality items.
Chest, leg, and boot armor still contribute to the total defense value.
All attribute values are consistent with the old system.
PvP gear now includes unique rune, sigil, and amulet slots. And you don’t see a difference between PvE and PvP ? They have the exact same equipment ? Ever heard about PvP amulets ?
Unless you were talking about skin balance….
Hmm I see. I stand corrected.
PvP has separate equipment yes
Feature pack and Gear Unification ring a bell?
All PvP equipment (armor, weapons, amulets, etc.) can no longer be obtained or equipped.
Upon entering Heart of the Mists, players will have their PvP items removed from their character inventory, character equipment, PvP locker, and account bank. This includes PvP chests.
All removed items will have their appearance unlocked in the account wardrobe.
Characters in PvP will use the same armor and weapons from PvE.

Because they refuse to seperate pvp and pve balancing, like they did in gw1. As long as pvp and pve balance isn’t seperated, we will never even get close to balance.
I don’t understand why people keep repeating this lie.. they’ve already done that, there are already skills and traits that behave differently in PvE than in PvP.
So PvP and PvE balance is completely seperated? ALL skills and traits have their own PvP versions, balanced specificaly for a PvP environment? PvP has it’s own seperate PvP Equipment?
I don’t think so.

Actually, we do know. ArenaNet has said Season 3 will continue within and/or soon after the expansion’s release. They’re going to try to appease both camps.
Where was this stated?
Eh purposefully ruining the game for his 4 teammates, and verbal abuse should warrant something no?
It should indeed, but it will take time. No doubt Anet staff gets hundreds, if not thousands of reports a day, it takes time to go through it all. Trashtalk is a common thing in a PvP environment, It’s probably not a high priority.
I PvP a ton, but that’s no need to use those insults and ruin the game for others. Sucking is 1 thing, ruining is another.
I couldn’t agree more. That’s one of the reasons I usually stay away from PvP in general, too toxic for me. I’m not saying you are toxic, nor am I accusing anyone in particular. But as you yourself already pointed out, it only takes one bad apple to ruin it. And there are plenty of them.
That’s just a PvP community being a PvP community.
Report and block, nothing more you can do.

“If I stay perfectly still they might think I’m an overgrown Willow Tree.”
He’s just tired of getting killed all the time.
This mechanic pays for the game your playing.
Odd since I paid for the game. Try to remember this isn’t FTP.
GW1 had box sales and no cash to gold.
GW2 was to survive on gems and have no expansions now however we’re getting box sales plus gems.
Never tell me someone else’s money is paying for my playtime as I’ve paid my own way.
The money you paid for the game isn’t going to pay your way forever. I paid 50 bucks when I preordered the game, the costs involved to sustain my account and all the content anet created for the past 2.5 years most likely exceeded that by now. Paying once does not sustain the game forever.
