In the first days the new area will be completely flooded with players. I’m going to wait a few days and play around with revenant/specializations first

Unless the current trait unlock system is replaced,
That has already been confirmed, though with no details on what it will be replaced with.
Colin Son-of-Johan only confirmed that they are looking at it, nothing else…
He clearly stated the trait system is going to be replaced.
Its not ingame yet but..
Best axe skin hands down
There is no GW lore. Its just a fun nod to Journey to the West, a very old Chinese fairy tale, popularised by the TV show Monkey
There is actually a Jackie Chan movie featuring the monkey king, played by Jet Li.

Imagine the complaints here on the forum “ZOMG, first taunt now dedicated healer? This is not wow”
Pointless.
Either I make it, or I earn it.
Buying from others? Never.
I’d say someone who gathered thousands of gold earned it as well.
I would love it but it probably won’t happen. Many ‘different’ weapons in the game are actually the same weapons but with a different color.
For example:
The Dark Asuran/Glyphic weapons, same weapons different color.
The Golden Wing/Human T3 weapons, again same weapons, different color.
And there are more weapons like that in the game.
I’m not saying it will never happen, but it probably won’t anytime soon.
But if it did, that would be amazing. It would be so much easier to fit weapons with your armor.

That would be cliched and lame.
The hero always surviving no matter what is cliché. If Trahearne dying is clichéd then Game of Thrones is the most Clichéd show/book ever concieved.

I couldn’t be there for the stream unfortunately, is it still possible to watch this video? All I see on the gw2 Twitch are ESL and Tournament videos.
Here you go: http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/627401366
Also, if you click the GuildWars2 link on the Twitch page most links go to, and then ‘Past Broadcasts’, you will always see all the streams they have done (rather than ‘Highlights’).
Good luck.
Thank you

Foolish? The primary definition of a replica is an exact duplicate.
As in having the same look. Not the same function or origins.
The aura is visual and only the Pale Tree can create it.
I already said that a mesmer can recreate it with magic. You can do so in the story mission where you wield caladbolg if you play a mesmer by creating a clone. Thus proving it’s possible to recreate the particle effect through magic.
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
but lets face it. There was always the trinity ( DPS, Tank, Healer), but everyone was just DPS
If everyone is dps then there is no trinity.

Aren’t you overreacting a little? I don’t see how Slow is becoming a problem in PvE. We don’t even know in what capacity players and npc’s get access to this condition.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Windu The Forbidden One.6045
I’m kinda betting the existing Elite skill with be gaining Slow.
I’m hoping it doesn’t because I think it would be too OP in pvp. I mean… I’ll be right there next to you casting it in pvp if it happens, but I won’t bet on it beforehand. Besides, the specializations are supposed to change things and make you give up certain mechanics in favor of new ones. It’s not just a straight upgrade.
Maybe, but if not the Mesmer then who? I doubt Revenant will be the only class with Slow.

The skills on the right half of your bar are tied to the legend which you are currently invoking.
Lets see if I can phrase this unambiguously:
When I am invoking Bob the Mighty, will I have a Bob-themed pool of skills to choose from when filling out my right-hand tray, or does channeling Bob the Mighty give me an absolutely specific set of 5 skills without variation from any other Revenant invoking Bob?
I realize the answer may be different for buttons 6 and 0 than it is for buttons 7, 8, & 9.
That is not set in stone yet and something we are deciding still.
I hope that will change then. Having your utilities set in stone (similair to weapon skills) will take away build variety. I much rather pick my utility skills individually rather than by set. Otherwise it’s just like having a set of predetermined builds that we can choose from, I’d like to create a build myself.
All the other classes have that freedom, the Revenant should too imo.

The new upkeep skill system sounds awesome.
However, the new blog post specifically indicates such skills will be available solely to the Revenant, (and I suspect in specializations) but in any case, not the base classes.
I got a beef with that.
That’s not how upkeep works.
It works by impairing energy regeneration. Do you see that arrows above the Revenant’s energy bar? That’s showing the upkeep system. If you have upkeep, you regenerate energy more slowly, or none at all, or you lose energy if you have a lot of upkeep.
Other professions don’t have energy, so they won’t get upkeep.
^This. In order to do this, anet would have to give all classes mana. No thanks.
Says who? Mechanically speaking a resource is a resource, nothing but a control over skill uptime, be that cooldowns or energy.
But we already have cooldowns. I like that gw2 only has cooldowns, not cooldowns AND energy (like most games).

It’s the PvE community they are talking about. PvP is always incredibely toxic, no matter what game.
I was right about hammer..HAHAHAHA IN YA FACE HAHAHA. I was also right about medium hp pool considering the fact guard has low hp and war high.

Good this nonsense about staff is over.
Sorry to burst your bubble but.. “This was just the tip of the iceberg. There are more weapons and legends coming with the revenant, but you’ll have to wait to find out more. It’s no fun to spoil everything at once.”
There are more weapons coming. Not saying this will be a staff but it is possible. So I wouldn’t celebrate just yet.
Edit: also the staff looking weapon we saw in the trailer was a melee weapon. The hammer for the Revenant will be a ranged weapon so..

But what about racial skills though? It wouldn’t make sense for them to suddenly require energy for no reason.
Since a Revenant’s utility skills are determined by the legend they’re currently channelling I take as implied they won’t be able to use racial skills.
That would be weird though, the only profession that doesn’t have access to racial skills. Not that it is a problem or anything, racial skills are mostly useless anyway but still.

A class whose primary mechanic is energy management. Huh, go figure.
It’s not so bad. Deep inside me, I kinda regreted the disappearance of mana in GW2, which was a powerful balance tool. Sounds like it’s coming back with the revenant.
I doubt it will be as restricting as normal mana though. If it was then the revenant would be horribly outclassed by the other professions, since they only have to worry about cooldowns, not even that if you play a thief.
Just another day in fantasy land.
It will probably be included in specializations. Don’t qoute me on that though.
They are.
“New boons, conditions, and status effects have been added to the revenant as well as spread across other professions’ specializations”
;)
Alrighty then, must have missed that part

There is one thing still very confusing to me about this blog post.
It sounds like the Revenant may get less customization than other classes. As per usual your first five skills are determined by your weapon, but unlike other classes they said your second five skills are determined by your legend. Are they determined only by your legend? As in, you pick a legend and get the five skills that come with it? Or will there be a selectable loadout of skills within each legend? And if so how many per legend?
This is what concerns me too. I’m fine by having only weapon skills being restricted to a predetermined set, but your weapon skills AND your heal/utility/elite skill? Seems like there is very little build variety that way.
It will probably be included in specializations. Don’t qoute me on that though.
Hentaiking.. really?
Living story is one of the worst ways of story telling to date in MMORPG history.
Wow, that is a very bold statement.
There, now it’s bold
(sorry that one was too easy)
Looks Like Caladbolg. But Is Not Caladbolg.
That’s what we’ve been trying to explain for days..
Also: Do the personal story mission where you wield Caladbolg on a mesmer, create clone. Clone wields caladbolg with the same butterfly effect. And bam, you have proved it is possible to recreate the butterfly effect with magic. Sure the butterfly effect is just an illusion, a cheap copy, but that’s what a replica is. Looks the same, but is not the same.

The last few posts prove that most people posting here didn’t even read the information that ANet released on masteries. I can as well talk to a wall. A discussion is only possible if everyone has read the information that is being discussed.
Hello there, wall. Have you always been here… _
Through Masteries, players who’ve reached level 80 will have the opportunity to continue their journey by acquiring powerful new abilities for their entire account.
Masteries award account-wide abilities and bonuses.
Every Mastery you invest in will bring new benefits to all of the characters on your account.
Masteries have the flexibility to both take us to new places and revisit our old favorites, and since the Mastery system provides account-based progression, new characters are always welcome.

That’s why PvE has overflows. If the teq map is full: Leave map, enter again, problem solved.
Yeah sure, to get on a map without commanders and without people that is about to fail.
If you are a WvW player who is only there for map completion anyway then what does it matter if that particular map is failing at teq? You are not there for Teq anyway.
Guess you don’t get my point.. whatever.
I guess I don’t then.

I have to agree with Dave here.
I am Iyeru, and I am not making an I approve of this message joke.
heh?
I have to agree with Dave here. I would rather play through all the maps in pve than do WvW, not because wvw is bad but simply because it isn’t my thing. PvE is.
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
It’s a shame this suggestion just slowly fell into oblivion.
It’s still not the same. A WvW player going to PvE doesn’t cause problems for the server and players waiting in the qeue.
This is not just about a player not wanting to do certain content, this is about a player unintentionally causing problems for others because of a design flaw. Which isn’t the case when a WvW player goes to PvE.
“Hey, there Teq is about to start in 4 mins, can everybody who’s doing map completion leave the map so my friends can join?”
Really happenend. And I guess it happens more often than that one time.
That’s why PvE has overflows. If the teq map is full: Leave map, enter again, problem solved.
^Then almost nobody would bother getting 100% map completion in pve to make a legendary weapon because it would take 10 times longer than wvw to complete. We’re talking about 4 maps vs 30+ maps.
Only if you want 1 legendary and not more.
Map completion gives 2 Gifts of Exploration anyways. Why not just make it one for open world exploration and one for WvW exploration? While WvW is indeed much smaller than the open world, it presents a different challenge in the way of exploration.
That seems like a great compromise.
I dislike PvE. I only play WvW. I want 100% completion. Either you give me that for free or you get traited the same way as I do. Which is, playing a game-mode that you don’t enjoy, putting the effort eitherway, to get that 100% map completion.
There is ALOT of negative things that I have to live with to finish my map completion in PvE.

Why not open a new thread and ask for levels to be removed completely? Because kitten grind…
Given the number of us planning to pop a level 20 scroll and 60 level up tomes in the first 90 seconds after our first Revenant gets out of the tutorial, I don’t think we need a thread for that — it’s already the case .
And then you use another 80 or so level up tomes and the masteries are finished, too. So where’s the problem?
You think that everyone has enough scrolls/tomes to instantly max out masteries on more than 8 characters?
You think masteries should be instantly maxed out when HoT is released?
Nope, and never did I claim it should. I doubt tomes would level masteries at all.
I think they will. Even if it’s not intended, it will be a bug that can be used during the first 3 hours after patch. They might even not fix it at all and call it an uninteded feature. We know ANet by now.
We will see how it goes.

You’re assuming that tomes will level up masteries. They probably will not, the same way that they don’t give PVP Ranks or World Experience. Saying that the experience bar will change to a mastery training bar once you hit level 80 doesn’t mean that masteries will behave the same way that experience does now.
^exactly.
