@WhiteNiveusLuzy
Would you be able to make that screenshot without aegis?
Everything else is perfect, this distance and pose is what make the greatest wallpapers, but some particle/magic effects are really difficult to properly cut out, aegis is one of them I’m afraid.
@G e o
That screenshot is too far I’m afraid, can you make one that’s closer?
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
It’s so adorable!
I really wanted that armor for one of my asura, but there was one problem. It’s just town clothes, if this was actually armor that I could wear fulltime, I would have bought it in a hardbeat.
I guess the time has come for zerkers to cry and whine, this will be the first thread of many.
Just for reference, the OP is probably referring to this
A lot better
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
Let me know if this screenshot is good enough or not, otherwise i make 1 tomorrow since i need to go towards work =(
I think it would be better to make a screenshot on flat ground, stand a few meters in front of a wall (or another object) so you can get the camera closer
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
Wow not bad!
@Scotfield
Thank you for your screens, will get on it as soon as possible
@Warcenter
I really like the middle screenshot, however you character and the sword are partly out of screen, would you be willing to make that screenshot again with the whole character in view?
No it won’t be on the western server (that’s a fact until proven otherwise). And I’m very glad this is the case. Guild Wars 2 should be free of any subscription fees.
At long last, we give to you, the player, the amazing, bold, ferocious TENGU… backpack…
And here it is, I hope you like it!
That looks really cool.
Hope you can make 1 of mine :P
Here is my Dark Reaper Of War.
Thanks for your screenshots, will get on it as soon as possible
Suspension of disbelief. Get some.
Nah, it’s not my kind of movie.
Question 1
When will we get to fight the other dragons?
Question 2
Will the other dragons get the same amount of attention/content zhaitan had? (aka an entire story campaign, 3 zones and a permanent dungeon)
Question 3
Will we get to know more about the Largos?
Question 4
Will we ever get to know more about the Six Gods?
Why is this thread still going on? They already confirmed, it’s not happening!
It might happen in asia (even that is not is not set in stone yet) but not for the western version.
This is really good .
I will subscribe for sure.
Luckily anet already refuted it. So it is not going to happen, at least not for the western version of Gw2
Mods should close this thread already.
Outrage was created, you got a response that refuted it all, false outrage continues to ensue for nothing.
I’m not for or against any kind of VIP membership, but…
1) The image was in English
2) The “sub”/“fee” models are typically more Western-market models
3) Blizzard said the same thing when their in-game store was mined.Personally, I think I’d welcome a fee-based (subscription) if it would result in more consistent larger content patches that also worked toward bringing new types of features and systems to the game like raids, mounts, etc.
That’s because the devs speak english! When all the content is ready, it gets localized!
Why is that hard to understand?
Also sub fees are typically more Asian market models. I believe it has something to do with their laws.
We just wanted to respond to the image that has been data-mined from the Edge of the Mists testing branch.
This is a testing branch. We conduct internal experiments for various territories on our testing branches. This particular experiment is not being tested for the West.
As always, keep in mind that we test a lot more than we ship, so data-mining is no guarantee of anything. If we have announcements to make about future content, we’ll make them through the usual official channels.
Thank god..
The Norn actually are more comfortable in cold environments. There’s NPC’s in the world that state ths. So it has nothing to do with the game mechanics of other races being able to unequip armor and not freeze.
If game mechanics are not the reason, then explain to me why my asura/sylvari/human characters can survive in the Shiverpeaks just as easily as any norn?
For the same reason they can breathe underwater indefinitely? Because having to manage your body heat would be an incredibly lame game mechanic.
That’s basically what I was saying…
So Wait! I’m not understanding why this is a bad thing?
It’s more or less a sub service.
The casuals feel if there is a sub service then people actually willing to pay a sub get a leg up.
The blah blah blah f2p’s feel like it causes their whole argument of “Subs are dead!! Long live b2p and f2p!!” to blow up in their face.
The GW1 lifers feel like it’s just another stab in the back because it’s not the exact same thing as a game in the dirt for five years, and they think they own the rights to what should be called GW, not the developers.
The gem buyers are gonna cry because “But we already bought gems…where’s mine. We’re not as special anymore!”
To the actual MMO crowd? It is a good thing.
Let me try to explain this to you as best as I can:
This is bad because, as pointed out before, paid VIP is subscription based, violating the “no subscription” aspect of the game. Half of this game’s appeal is being free, and that anything can be gained with some time. I’ve heard countless times people say: “even if you don’t like GW2 or get bored, you can always come back later and enjoy the same thing everyone else is.”
And whether the arguments of people threatening to leave over VIP status are valid or not, that does not change this turning a considerable amount of players against the game. It’s bad publicity, bad for marketing, “you pay for this game in subscription form” is NOT an advertising feature for box or digital releases.
Then there’s the fact that giving perks to people who are now willing or able to pay extra that may go beyond anything you can get in standard gameplay creates a financial wall of haves and have-nots. God, help Anet if such a thing extended to PVP.
Finally, there’s what this says about the Arenanet developers. Do you know why politicians will stand by bad ideas? Or better yet, stick by things that have worked well in the past and continue to work? Because it tells people that you can at least stick by what you’ve said.
Thus far, Arenanet has backed down from it’s manifesto, said they’ve been reinterpreting it, or that it’s just no longer valid. This struck many players as a sign Arenanet cannot stick by it’s word. VIP subscription status tells the existing playerbase Arenanet is willing to backflip on one of its core principles in their own interests. Once more, this is bad for marketing.
But I suppose if the larger, “True MMO crowd” you speak of flocks to this game because they can pay monthly for it, then any potential losses should shore itself up, right?
He made a very insulting and offensive argument, I wouldn’t put too much effort into responding.
Which broad group did you feel you fell into?
The first 2.
-In my opinion, subscription fees are a tumor upon MMO’s.
-Arenanet promised that everything we loved in GW1 would be in GW2. One of the greatest things about gw1 was no subscription fees of any kind.Sub based and hybrid model MMO’s have a significantly larger player base and income than either f2p or b2p models. One would think if they were such a “tumor” they wouldn’t have the largest player base or the highest income.
One thing I have noticed a lot of back and forth on the boards lately is about whether or not GW2 is quality enough to sustain a Sub, if they decided to go that route. If GW2 had launched with a sub, would it even be a footnote now compared to other sub based or hybrid model games? Many say it stands on it’s own regardless of payment model due to quality, but I never see these people say they would pay a sub for it. They want all these things like Horizontal progression, cosmetic gear grinds, skill based play, no vertical tiers……………..but no one is willing to actually pay for them.
If the dev’s are reading this, you should have your answer about what direction to take this game.
Gw1 had a lot more and better content than gw1 without ever having a subscription fee. Everything would have been fine if they just released expansion like they have always done!
I just hope this will be a one time purchase thing, then I’ll gladly pay. It would be the right thing to do.

Because everything on reddit is fact o_O
That_Shaman has always been pretty accurate though.

“no subscription fees!”
They add this, then I am getting my money back. VIP membership is a subscription model.
So much this.

Astounding isn’kitten
Yea I must say, that is the most astounding nonsense I ever read. Very comical.

Let’s see if this thread will get deleted or not. That’ll speak volumes.
They could delete it because it’s false information…. just saying.
It’s not false at all. Said by more than enough people before, will say it again, this is a legit datamine. Dulfy.net also confirmed it.
Several things that have been data mined never made it into the game. Lets hope that is also the case with this VIP Membership
This is terrible.
What happened to you Anet?
This would actually be pretty cool.
It’s probably to encourage players to buy more character slots.
Open world (non consensual) PvP is despicable. It’s just for sadistic people who want to gank, bully and harass others.
Or for those who would like a guild x guild?
Or for those who would like to test builds against a friend?
Read my comment again. I’m talking about non consensual pvp. Both cases you mentioned are consensual.
Open world (non consensual) PvP is despicable. It’s just for sadistic people who want to gank, bully and harass others.
the problem is the actual story presentation.
And the content. Seriously, we should have at least 3 new zones by now..
Tbh the sylvari smile looks more like a smug grin sometimes.
Would be fitting for april maybe?
“Ancient jotun stelae indicate that throughout prehistory, the Elder Dragons have gone through cycles of awakening, destruction, and hibernation, each time ending an era of life in Tyria and bringing forth a new one.”
“What knowledge we have of the Elder Dragons comes from the survivors of the previous cycle of awakening, over 11,000 years ago. "
So technically dragons are like the Reapers from Mass Effect series. Each cycle they awake, they destroy Tyria until a new race arrives. That being said how exactly did we kill off Zhaitan so easily? Wouldn’t he just regenerate and rise up again? It would make no sense to kill of dragons so easily now… are they stepping on their own lore now?
They don’t destroy Tyria. They eat up the excessive magic and then go back to sleep. There are after all races that have survived earlier ED cycles (but then again they were hidden by Glint).
We didn’t kill of Zhaitan easily. It took a massive cooperation between all the major and several minor races of Tyria including a full-scale invasion, starving and blinding it by killing off its food and spies. Using completely new and unique technology and so on.
So just because the actual fight against the mob Zhaitan is easy, doesn’t mean it didn’t take massive amount of actual work to get it done. It was very weakened when we faced it after all.
There is nothing that implies that Elder Dragons are immortal or somehow reforms if they are destroyed.
Also unlike the Reapers, the Elder Dragons are not united.
The bad apples in PvE can be avoided, in PvP they can’t.

They had no just cause to report you, so they probably get a temp ban themselves.
Though can you tell me where this happened? I’d like to check it out for myself.
There is only one thing to learn from season 1. Scrap LS and start making expansions.
They most likely haven’t learned..
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
100% Primordus.
I doubt it, Remember her previous poem?
Tick tock goes the clock
It’s almost time for time to stop
Something you all must understand
Your world is built on fog and sand
You’re out of time, your jig is done
It’s time for Scarlet to have her fun
She has some hard lessons to teach
To the people of Divinity’s Reach
So mark the date in permanent ink
The hour is later than you think
On the twentieth day she’ll start her games
And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!
Tyria was supposed to burn back then too. And there was no dragon involved back then either.
Looks like Scarlet finally snapped.
oh wait..
Wow it looks amazing already!
Glad ya liked it BTA!
Windu! youre up! Mixxi!and with that, I’m caught up, with the exception of one human thief who failed to get me decent screen shots. ( seriously! how am i supposed to see anything when he’s dyed black on black, and standing in the dark???? )
Thanks so much!!
Looks amazing

I’m switching from hotmail to gmail and I’m trying to change the email address for my guild wars 2 account. But I can’t find any option that allows me to do so.
How can I change my email address?

This is brilliant. I would like to stand over her with my elementalist, power up all the magical energy I have for one big blast. Before I will blast her to smithereens I say:
SCARLET BRIAR, YOU AND YOUR ALLIANCES HAVE DEVASTED THE LORE OF THIS WORLD, AND NOW YOU SHALL PAY THE ULTIMATE PRICE
-fires blast-
And she vaporises in a huge explosion of light.
There are 4 more living story installments to go. From the Article: Living World 2013: The Year In Review
Our first release in the new year will be on January 21 as we begin our countdown to the end of this story arc. We’ll use the longer break to spend extra time to ensure that our final four releases are as polished and exciting as possible.
Due to the size and scope of the final four story releases in season one, the next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished.
So the releases will start at the 21th of January, proving that the Wintersday events are not part of those 4 installments.
Okay, why is this marked as the right answer, seriously?
Very true to the above, and if I got it right, they don’t catch any disease. So pretty much a superhero race.
What?
The most important thing though, is that they radiate a lot of heat. The cold weather in Shiverpeaks is summer to them. That’s why they don’t wear too much clothes. They do seem to be able to adapt though. If it’s warm, they radiate less heat.
The reason they can live in the shiver peaks without too much clothes is the same reason why bikinis can be used as armor in this game, or why every race can walk around in the snow in his/her underwear without freezing.
What is this reason you may ask? Absolutely nothing, there are limits to how far realism goes in video games
There are a dozen different people here that doesn’t remotely make a representative argument.
And your name is right at the top of that list.
2014 is going to be an amazing year for GW2 and the community!
Chris
