I don’t consider an update with a temporary mini game an expansion..
Heh Star Trek would have gotten my vote here, they permanently added an entire new faction, new races, new ships, new zones, new story lines, updated their ui. How does a temporary couple zones update win over that? I guess Star trek needed to add a megaman zone in order to win this huh.
Pretty much this.
Quality over quantitiy?
This isn’t about the quality of sab (which is subjective to begin with). This is about a temporary mini game not being worthy of being called an Expansion. Eye of the North, now that was an expansion.
Well I hate to bring the bearer of bad news but the whole award process is subjective, and your opinion of SAB is no less subjective then my opinion of it.
So lets get pointing out that all of our opinions here are subjective.
SAB is reoccuring. So sure you can call that temporary, because it is not available all the time, but it is not gone for good. It comes back, and each time it does it comes back bigger and better.
The rewards it adds to the game, achievment points, titles, skins and minis are permanent. Considering that horizontal progression is suppose to be the name of the game here, that is considered content for many players.
With the introduction of Tribulation mode there was a new teir of skins which I very much enjoyed aquiring.
All subjective opinions and preference? Absolutely.
All that being said. Who are these guys anyway? No awards have been ‘won’. From what I can tell this is just a single websites review.
They list no criteria for these categories. I wouldn’t get to upset if you don’t agree with these reviews I don’t see their subjective opinions being worth any more then any of ours.
Well then in my opinion, an expansion does not involve a mini game that’s only available when the devs want it to be. An expansion (to me) is new zones, story, professions, skills, weapons etc. But that’s just how archaic my thinking is..

The beginning of the answer in so far as Humanity is concern is that such an endeavour requires massive amounts of surplus resources and workers, soldiers, equipment and technology.
All of which humanity does not have in plentiful supply of as in -there is no surplus resources available. Since to HAVE enough for any significant amount of surplus REQUIRES the complete extermination of the Centaurs from the parts of Kryta that humanity have settled.
Simple put. Humanity cannot afford to claim any part of Orr based on current GW2 Lore. That is truth undeniable.
It’s a fantasy game, everything is possible.
Though I think it would be better to just give Orr to everyone, since members of all races worked to liberate it.

I’m so sick of this mentality. Suddenly the human race is the badguy of pretty much everything.
As if the other races are any better.

The “one thing’s for sure” was me being pessimistic.
Edge of the Mist is a WvW zone, pffff.. That doesn’t count. I’m talking about a REAL zone. A PvE zone. Not a shallow pvp map. like Malchor’s Leap or Fireheart Rise.
And anet stated they “have no plans to release an expansion” until at least 2015, Implying there won’t be one in 2014. though that dev post was months ago and I can’t find it right now, so no I can’t prove it.
Oh, so just because you don’t like it it somehow doesn’t count?
Isn’t that quite silly?
That would be like saying an expansion didn’t exist just because you didn’t like what was added with it.EotM IS a new zone, no matter if you like it or not.
They have never mentioned years when talking about expansions. They have only said “no plans to release an expansion”, nowhere did they say anything about 2014 or 2015.
They did mention a year once. Do you think that I like this even more!? In case you haven’t noticed already, I hope you are right, I do really want an expansion, new professions, pve zones, all that stuff.
Can you please get off my back and stop being so condescending jeesh…

If it is an educated guess why would you say “One thing is for sure”.
That would imply fact, rather than guessing.New zone is confirmed. We KNOW that Edge of the Mist WILL come next year.
As for expansion they have confirmed nothing at all about having one next year or not.

Glad they’ve removed it now.. but I still hate to see it when other players got it.
They are going to change it later on, so those players who bought the armor won’t have it for long.
Envy is bad. So when my character runs past you, you send rays of hatred towards me, even though it wasn’t my fault?!
I merely stated what anet is going to do. I never said I agreed or disagreed with it.
Though I can tell you this. Anet should either make all cultural armor available to every race, or keep it the way it is. And since a lot of people already run around with T3 flamekissed, the first option would probably be best. Also, when a better version of T3 Cultural armor is released, it should at least be more expensive than the original.

It wasn’t the dev’s who made a big deal about it.
Whoever did it apparently has enough power to completely take out anything Cantha related out of the game, unfortunately.

One thing is for sure.
No new zones
No new professions
No fighting the other elder dragons
More Living StoryIn short, no expansions.
Oh, I would love to see that statement. Feel free to link it.
Because as far as I know they have NEVER stated that we won’t get these things the next year.
One of them we already KNOW we are getting.
A new zone.
It was more of an educated guess than an actual fact, but ok I’ll bite.
New zone (maybe)
New profession (Highly unlikely, but possible)
Fighting other elder dragons (Highly unlikely, but possible)
More Living Story (Confirmed)
Expansions (Confirmed not happening until at least 2015)
Don’t get me wrong though, I would love to be wrong on this. Especially the expansion part.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Okay goodbye then.
Especially at the subscription part, just.. what the hell.
Gear Progression and Subscription Fees are a tumor upon mmo’s.
False. Sub is honest, every other model forces the devs to try and trick you to get money out of you.
False.
If I buy gems in guild wars 2 (And I don’t even have to, everything can be bought with ingame gold) I actually get something in return. I don’t pay just to be able to keep playing.

There were two Naked Kasmeer threads. So we had a naked Kasmeer merging with a naked Kasmeer.
You’re welcome for that mental image.

You can disable the notication of emotes in chat.
Which disables everyone rather than just the people doing it to grief others, with spamming and griefing players violating several ToS points Anet should be handing out suspensions for this behaviour to be consistent with their behaviour policies or more fairly extend the spam suppressor to prevent the obvious abuse of emotes.
Did you try blocking them?

Love it when Deso laughs after they win a fight they were losing by bringing in the blob! Yes, it IS hilarious when it takes 4 times as many of you to beat us!!! =P Keep up the good work!

Naked Kasmeer was merged? With what? That sounds very awkward. :o
There was only one thread, I wonder with what they merged it.

But seriously, the Avatar skills from the Dervish. I would love to have those back. They may not have been the best skills out there, but kitten they were cool.
You mean like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Avatar_of_Melandru?
There’s only one though.
Not really, that skill just turns you into an Oakheart (really disappointing). I mean these: Avatar of.. Balthazar Dwayna Grenth Lyssa Melandru

Should i just encourage people to keep making new threads instead of referring to the existing one?
What you should do is stop whining about this. Yes I know you want dueling badly but Arenanet already knows a lot of people want this (it’s hard to miss with the 5 billion threads that already exist).

Today I tried doing Obsidian Sanctum, and naturally It was impossible to do so because some people make it their life’s work to ruin the happiness of others. They were there specifically to make sure people couldn’t complete the jumping puzzle.
I remember at one time, someone here on the forum asked for the courtesy to let him complete a jumping puzzle. As a response people gave him the finger and said he should go back to PvE, because in WvW (and I qoute) you should be ready to get punched in the face.
^This pretty much sums up most of the pvp community.
PvP breeds rivalries, antagonism and turns people into despicable monsters. I got reminded of that now. Every form of PvP should stay out of PvE. Go back to wvw/spvp, if you are in PvE, get ready to treat people normally.
nice try Windu, but the rule of thumb to open world pvp and WvW (including obsidian sanctum) is “red = dead.”
Lucky for you, open world dueling is an entirely different beast than open world pvp so your anecdote has only really served to necro the duel thread, instead of propagate your failed argument.
open world dueling requires consent from both parties. period.
Entering obsidian sanctum is your consent to the risk that you may get ganked.
I’m talking about the pvp mentality. It should stay away from pve.
And about necroing this thread, you already did that by linking this thread in one of the recent duel threads. People will never stop whining for this, wether I necro this or not.

I would really like the Largos as a playable race. Imagine the customization with their wings/fins
I’m not sure there would be any. From what we’ve seen they all have the same patterning on their wings, perhaps it’s akin to customisation on a human foot – most peoples feet look close enough that it would be really weird to let players change the colour and length of toes etc. xD
You can’t really compare feet with large colored wings/fins though..

I fear the devs want to forget Cantha ever existed. I mean, if they make such a big deal about 5-10 asian styled houses in the corner of a city (canthan district), imagine what they would think about an entire asian themed continent.

Just another proof that asura have the absolute best animations in the game.
On another note, it’s similarity to children crying are part of the asura’s problem that they are too childlike.
Lies! The Charr surprised and sleep animations are the best in the game.
Asura are probably second, though. The advantages of unique body shapes allowing them to get a little more creative with them, perhaps.
Asura have the best animations by far.

This is so bad move for Anet to actually release a popular culture armor of the human to EVERY race!! That’s just so wrong.
There’s a reason why it’s called ‘culture armor’.
I am so disappointed on this sale.
I am one of the players who actually bought this culture tier 3 armor for golds, alot of golds!
Now you can easily buy it from Gem Store with 800 gems. That’s just sick.
Glad they’ve removed it now.. but I still hate to see it when other players got it.
They are going to change it later on, so those players who bought the armor won’t have it for long.

A response I gave to a similair thread:
Both the Asura forums and Lore forums seem to be fitting for this question.
Anyway, to your question.
The Asura have their own language from when they were underground, but quickly adapted to the “common” language, so there are very few instances of the Asura language used. There are only two cases of the Asura language being seen.
The first, and most familiar, is the term Bookah. The second is the Asura banners on the Asuran Beacon. Before their surfacing, the Asuran language was half-mathematical and half-structured.
What you see below is a sample of the Asuran language, It translates into Line 1: qwa umza lagee wan Line 2: o kwa tanzin wan

selling dungeon paths is something that must be stopped !

NCSoft didn’t want the game to copy real-world asian culture because they were afraid it would then be labeled an ‘asian’ MMO.
That doesn’t even make sense. Why would 5-10 asian houses in the corner of a big city make the whole game asian.
