Royal Terrace = gentle folk
Ship = soldiers
Vigil = peasants
There fixed.
Real men go to a battle ship rather than a terrace!
All jokes aside, I prefer the battleship because of the view. And a battleship is just a lot more awesome imo ^^

Yeah… after reading that part I can’t take anything else you said seriously anymore.

Nobody will know until the weekend most likely.
By which time it is probably too late to start grinding for it.
Really sloppy on Anet’s part imo.

Ahem, I love the skin.
If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.Ah that argument never gets old.
I personally don’t mind the armor. But I am sick of that argument/logic where something is completely immune to any form of criticism just because it’s optional.
isnt that how business work on everything
if you dont like a game console y ou dont buy it
if you dont like clothes you seee in a store you dont buy it
if you dont like a car you dont buy it
if you dont like some particular food you dont buy it
etc…
No it is not. Just because you don’t have to buy something does not mean it’s completely immune to criticism.
And again, I’m not against the armors, they are quite nice. I’m just sick of that argument.
“I don’t want the armor to be changed/removed because I, and evidently a lot of other people, like it.”
^Now that would be a valid argument. Not saying: “you don’t have to buy it, so everything that could be wrong with it can be completely dismissed.”

I really like to know how this potion is going to work, and most of all, what it will look like. Yes I know it will give you a halo floating above your head.
But is there a way to preview that?
How long does it stay there?
Is it permanent?
Do I have to use the potion everytime I go to another zone?
At the moment I have no idea how exactly this potion will work or what it will look like exactly. And frankly, this is something I must know before I’m going to grind Heirlooms al week.

For people who actually think LS is better, lets go through this for a minute.
And all of this PERMANENT!
If LS did this each month, then it would be awesome. So even if the LS delivery method is better, it’s still inferior to the expansion model. And if I have to wait longer to get this level of content, so be it! Making quality content takes time, if you are going to roll out content on a bi weekly basis you will never recieve the same amount of quality. And it shows.
I think you might have missed a few things that LS released..
starting with the permanent stuff12 fractals
2 mini dungeon
4x jumping puzzle
7x armor sets
2 new condition
4 new pvp map
1 new zone
1 new town
7x weapon sets
some pieces of armor skins but not whole sets
some weapon skins but not whole sets
7 new enemies
20 new crafting materials
481 new crafting recipes
1 new faction
7 new mini game
3x world events (skritt thief, modus etc..)
3x new runes / sigils
4 new currency
1 new WvW event
2x New achievements revamp
3 zone revamps
6x types of guild missions
18 – Bounties
180 – treks
8 – rushes
6 – challenges
3 – puzzles
1 revamped dungeon
WvW progression
Leaderboards
Custom Arenas
Tournaments
WvW Traps
2 new world boss
many new dynamic events (new permanent events introduced during halloween 2012, secrets of southsun, tower of nightmares)
Wallet system
9 new skills
Magic find revamp
1 revamped boss fight
1 new dungeon path
ton of new minis
many new dyes
some finishers
some new tonics
1 new WvW zone
a lot of new characters. Canach, evon, ellen, magnus, Noll,Blingg, kasmer, Marjory, rox, Marcello, what-ever-tron, etc.. a ton of support characters, refugees, cragstead inhabitantsand the temporary stuff wasnt a pitance either
7x mini games
5 new mini zone
1x invasion
1 world boss
3x dungeons
2x mini dungeon
1x dungeon like multi boss fight (whatever guantlet would qualify for)
1 jumping puzzle
2 living story instances
a bunch of dynamic events with each LS release related to that LS
2x SAB worlds 6 zonesmuch more content than EOTN.. granted they got 6 months more time to work on it then they had on EOTN but still…
Sure if you add all the smaller stuff, completely disect the content and list things twice (for example: 6 guild mission types, then go ahead to list the guild missions seperately, or 1 zone, 1 town instead of 2 zones) it’s not that hard to make a list that long. Besides, not all of that content (like the account wallet) is related to Living Story.
If I decide to Disect the content of one of the Gw1 expansions I can make a list around 4 times that size. (which I am not going to do since it takes forever, if you can’t take my word for it, bite me)
Though to be fair, LS did indeed release a bunch of permanent content I acknowledge that.

It doesn’t reveal anything. All I see is blue latex. I don’t see a single piece of skin…

5 races instead of 1 definitely makes a difference to the amount of new armours.
Sylvari/human/norn armors are pretty much the same (only a different size for norn).
The only races where the armor looks different is for Asura and Charr.
And Asura only use the male models, and most charr armors look horrible and are plagued by clipping issues. Because they literally took armor that was designed for a humanoid body, and slapped it on the charr body.
Since if you multiply the amount of new armours by the races you end up with a similar amount of total work done.
I’m sorry, but no. Just because gw2 has more of the same armors available to multiple races does not mean the game has more content overall.

I just hope that, at the end of this arc Scarlet gets cut in half. Then I can say
“You really were a cut above the rest”
“But too bad you didn’t make the cut”
“Guess you could call this a slice of life”
“I’ll cut you a break, I’m gonna split”
I’m sorry, just trying to pass the time while waiting for this patch to come out.

please support chinese font input in eu/us clients ( both simplified and traditional), since there is no “asian servers” , there are many players from taiwan, Hongkong and mainland of china even Chinese students aboard play at eu/us server, but gw2 dosen’t support chinese input (both simplified and traditional) quite well.
it is not a difficult issue, please support chinese language input so more player will benefit from the change.
thank you very much.
American is the official language of GW2.

GW2 is way bigger than Prophecies was at release.
Interestingly people like to throw around tons of numbers
Those are called facts, it’s what people tend to use in arguments
but they don’t like to throw number of professions and number of races.
gw1 had more professions… not at release no, but gw2 is not at release, it’s been out for over a year
They also don’t like to talk about crafting.
Because it’s boring as kitten
GW1 added very few in terms of free content.
And that’s why the content added in gw1 vastly superior. Free =/= better
People just don’t understand that GW1 basically had a tiny Live Team while GW2 has a decently sized live team.
Indeed, gw2 has a lot more developers working on it. So why are we getting less?
Guild Wars 2 at release has indeed more content than Guild Wars 1 at release. But in the end, gw1 got tons more content and guild wars 2 is not at release anymore.

If Anet packaged all of the Season 1 LW content up into a box and tried to sell it I think they’d get a lot of criticism for a lacking expansion.
You could say that.
For people who actually think LS is better, lets go through this for a minute.
-new story
-41 new armor sets, including rare, stand-alone pieces
-100 new profession-specific skills (10 per profession, none of which are elite)
-50 new PvE only skills including 3 elite skills
-10 new heroes
-18 Dungeons
-124 new quests
-The Hall of Monuments
-4 new regions (which were comprised of 24 zones, yes that’s right, 24!)Now lets divide this over 12 months. (not 100% correct since not everything can be devided by 12, but you get the idea) Then each month we would get:
-3 new armor sets
-8 new profession specific skills (1 per profession)
-4 new PvE only skills
-1 new hero (2 months won’t have a hero)
-1 new dungeon
-10 new quests (as opposed to 1 we have with LS)
-2 new zonesAnd all of this PERMANENT!
-snip-
Well I hope they start soon, since they are long overdue.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Like I’ve said before, I don’t mind the LS at all, as long as there is an expansion being worked on in the background. The LS is something merely to tide you over until substantial and permanent content is added to the game.
I agree. If Living Story was just something to keep you busy in between expansions, I wouldn’t mind at all. But until we have confirmation this is the case, I have to assume it isn’t.
~Sincerely, Scissors
I’m confused where we aren’t getting new content. Eotm was a rather substantial update.
THIS is a substantial update:
-new story
-41 new armor sets, including rare, stand-alone pieces
-100 new profession-specific skills (10 per profession, none of which are elite)
-50 new PvE only skills including 3 elite skills
-10 new heroes

-124 new quests

-4 new regions (which were comprised of 24 zones, yes that’s right, 24!)This is what we got for one of the gw1 expansions (eye of the north)
And you paid full price for it…
I gladly did. It was well worth it. I rather have top content for a price, than garbage for nothing.
~Sincerely, Scissors
-snip-
You can keep comparing these two games all you want, but one of them is an MMO and another is not. That’s a big difference in design.
It doesn’t matter wether it’s a different game or not!
The expansion model works a lot better than the LS model, wether we are talking about guild wars or any other game.
~Sincerely, Scissors
you are never able to make anything else. I’m out.
Again completely irrelevant. This isn’t about making something else, this is about doing something right. I’m not against taking a different approach at all.
If Arenanet came with something else that’s just as good as expansions (or better) I would have embraced it. But it isn’t.
~Sincerely, Scissors
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
Windu, I like you dude. That’s a breakdown that makes it black and white.
Not as black and white as these are different games.
Completely irrelevant.
Even if the games were completely different and had no correlation with eachother whatsoever (which is not the case), the expansion model is still vastly superior, which is what this argument is about.
~Sincerely, Scissors
(edited by Windu The Forbidden One.6045)
-All Gem Store/ $$$ .
-4? More like 1.
-Hero?
-FOTM mini dungeon.
-Quests?
-One which is completely dead.
Indeed that’s what we have now, and not even each month. Not even all of it permanent.
~Sincerely, Scissors

Ahh yes this again, after how many years did you get this content?
About a year after the expansion before that. Waiting a year for 10 times the amount of content LS has released overall is more than worth it. Period.
LS could work if it at least released some meaningful content that doesn’t disappear a month later.

I like that the LS is temporary. It’s different. for newer players, it means there isn’t tons of stuff they have to do to catch up.
It keeps things moving, .. I don’t want an expansion, I like how they patch it as it is.
What you’re asking, is for a different game.
When will people realise this?
If it’s for a different game they should have announced that before releasing it.

The rise of Zhaitan, because that’s the only time the city was actually completely destroyed. That’s why Lions Arch is now a scrapheap of shipwrecks and the real Lions Arch lies at the bottom of the bay.

Or she actually found out she is an NPC in a virtual world. When she traversed the “Eternal Alchemy” she actually got a glimpse of our world. And the “thing” that stared back was actually just a developer playing galaga at the time.
She refused to accept she was just an unsignificant virtual character in a video game so she vowed to destroy as much of the game as possible, starting at the core (Lions Arch), hacking parts of the game along the way to make her unrealistically smart (which drove her insane).
…
Yes I am joking, but it’s a funny story if I say so myself
~Sincerely, Scissors
You should make how you want your content more clear. Say something like, “Where is my playing months old content with occasional expansion packs?”
There fixed. Don’t act like waiting for an expansion is suddenly a bad thing. If guild wars 2 had a traditional expansion model we would have had an expansion by now before the game became a “boring grind”. Which is exactly what the game is now because of LS.
Besides, with expansions you at least CAN play months old content, with LS most of it is temporary.
But seriously, this isn’t a content issue. This is more of a delivery issue it seems.
It is both.
Notice how even one expansion has 10 times more content than al LS patches combined?

But you do need a central location for FoTM. Also Lions Arch is an integral part of the in world economy (talking lore here, not TP). So yeah, there should be serious ramifications to it being destroyed.
I’m all for moving out into the racial cities. I spend all my time in the Grove anyway. It loads far quicker.

In the interview Colin gave to I think it was Eurogamer there was an interesting section. It went something like 350 people working at Anet and they cannot be all working on the LS, so an expansion is in the making there is no doubt there.
I’m sorry but that’s a terrible analogy. Just because some of their people are not working on LS it doesn’t automatically mean they are working on an expansion.
I’m sure there are more things to do than besides making LS and expansions.
Ok I cant think of a single thing for a game dev to do besides working on some part of a game. Let’s take mapdesigners as example they are not working on LS are doing what according to you then?
Well at first, do we know for sure all those 350 people are developers? If not, some of those people could be cleaning the toilets at Anet for all we know.
Things they could be doing besides making Ls/expansions is:
-Maintaining the servers
-Customer support
-Maintaining the game itself (bug fixes/balancing issues)
There could also be developers working on new independent features, like the account wallet or the Laurel system we got in 2013.
BTW you must have the best signature in the forum period, that one is awesome
Thank you
