Staff makes a great bunker that i often can´t kill. But i never got shot down in 1:1 by a staff ele in pvp …..
I would love to see shorter casting time on dragon tooth and a slight buff on fire, air and earth auto attack.
I play tempest and it playes well in the following pvp sets.
Rune: i always use settlers.
Amulet: I like the new wanderer. It suits me very well.
Settlers was the second enjoyable. The healing power and bunker ability is noticable but the damage output was to low for me.
Clestial is somwhere between. It works well. Especially in teamfights but overal wanderer seems to play better for me. I don´t realy notice more then my 660 extra armor. It feels like the perfect spot.
I prefer tempest playstyle over D/D. Its more strategic then fast paced and this suits me.
This. I burn then when they try rezzing, i fear them at combat start with a lightning storm and i roll over them in earth. Just water is not very useable ….
And i use scepter(sigh a bit buff would be nice) to have range. My close combat power is good enough. Staff is good to combine overloads with fields and range but i love my focus to much ….
yes it does. I run mainly rabid but plan to change some pieces to wanderer and a bit viper.
In PvP i use rebound because its a shout (i run soldiers there) in WvW i use FSG …
As elite itself its loughable. Its weaker then most utilities with its CD.
If you don´t want to change it i would give it 50s CD and make it instant cast.
I play tempest and lately i have troubles 1:1 condi reapers. I guess using carrion amulet.
Need more training …..
In most 1:1 i rarely go down before help arrives.
with shoking aura and as elite it would be great. I feat to great ;-).
Its the shout i don´t use exept the passive one which is good.
Well ist a personal taste thin. I would go with a berserker staff, maurauder armor set, and captains/knight trinkets + berserker backpack . :-)
A shorter landing time is better in most situations, but it can lead to be to strong.
I am not a glass cannon. And my target is not insta burned. But the advantage is strong.
I also start learning to use it against shields. The bunkers on point are common and the delay helps. 1/2 or even 1/4 cast time would make me happy.
An elite that synergizes with water has the potential of being strong to OP. This was quite clear. Cantrips could be substituted with shouts and thus the ele sustain extended to teammates. So the spec is stronger because it added team support keeping basic sustain nearly the same. And this forced into a slowed down playstyle going contrary to arcane ele … A lot of old eles had to hate this.
I would prefer the cast time of dragon tooth shorter. Some kind of fire and forget AE denial. Will rarely hit in 1:1 but is a threat and can be used in point fighting and wil lbe better in PvE. If you make it hit more reliable in duels it can become to powerful. When i can land this after a knockdown, my target is usualy done …
I started to play PvP to see how it is. I still play unranked having only 34 matches solo. So its very mixed. Sometimes there are 2-4 player teams showing up and the side who gets them wins 90%.
I use my ele S/F build but had to adapt equipement since i only have amulet + rune. I use soldiers + wanderer and it works well.
I win significant more then i loose. I did feel diamond skin on tempests. In 1:1 this is realy hard for a condi build. I can´t get a well played tempest with it down.
He has a significant starting advantage and since i am tanky this usualy lasts till help arives.
Can hold points and kill in 1:1. With soldier rune and shouts i do nice in team support. I constantly get the following top performs.
Condis applied, condies removed (myself and team) and somtimes most allyhealing points taken and kills … I can bind oponents for a while.
Droping arcane for tempest is diffrent but performs…. For me it fits better then the old ele, but i can understand playing D/D for three years and then ……..
I also like it. Yes its not much ele swaping. I droped arcane …
The list glen postet is about what scepter player want. For Shaterstone i would simply increase radius significant. So it is hard AE denial.
Just an idea:
Give another class a strike that deals double damage on players with alcatricity.
E-G. Thief Staff 2 might be a good spot.
The idea to make thief a counter to mesmer is good. The problem is how to make it without overpowerign thiefs and hurtign other classes to much.
Well an unblockable heavy attack from a thief out of stealth would help.
OR:
Staff Nr2 gets: deal double damage to targests with alcatricity.
The build looks fine but:
I won´t use the earth signet. Its not bad to catch fleeing oponents and gives a bit toughness, but another aura shout and trating elemental shielding feels much better.
Be aware that the strongest assets of a tempest is its shareable 40% protection!
Then powerful auras will also do better when taking water here.
And when using krait rune use rebound. But consider using traveler rune or even tempest one. I use nightmare, but its hader to get. Still think of going back to traveler.

I have only a fistfull of PvE right now. I startet last week due to WvW lacking ^^.
I learned most things fast. Well i am a strategist so map awareness is logical for me :-).
I also try to run where others don´t go(avoid street fighting unless i see a fast kill). I try to cap the far sidepoint an hold it.
I play a semi bunker tempest with less healing but more 1:1 capability and can defend a point well in 1:1. Also i try to binde more then 1 oponent knowing i can handle it for a while. They force me off the point, but cant´t kill me fast so it buys time.
I think i won yesterdays match with that. Caped the point, defended it against two 1:1 attempts and had a long fight in the 1:2 that finaly got me down.
I think after learning the maps, i will do good progress.
its extra dmg + bit might = Always good i think
was just wondering if the burning would be viable with condi build
It is ;-). I play this. Traited fire. I have 3 fire auras, swap to fire, focus 5 and feel the burn.
By being tanky in earth i swallow the hits and burn my oponents. Of course i have +condi duration in my equipement and burn duration from burning precision.
Its a nice damage add.
I can kill berzerker builds that mindlessly go into meele and beat on me within a few seconds XD. Thats propably why i have no problem with reapers. the co into meele, i go through fire to earth (over 3k armor with rock barrier + stone heart) + 40% prot, ignore(cleanse) chill and put up to 4k DPS on them … Fastest kill was a thief taht jumped on me, died in about 5 seconds shortly after cloaking to disengage …
(edited by Wolfric.9380)
This is why a lot of people run focus offhand. I can recomend this.
I did run arcane shiel in the past and liked it much. Replaced arcane with tempest and shouts. Also mistform is a great emergency utility. In PvE when running hard dungeons i did put mistform on my bar so it usualy was arcane shield, mistform and glyph of storms for tough PvE content.

Indeed, its a lot of personal thing. I am a WvW player and just started to try PvP.
I use the same build, because i like it and can play it. But i had to change the rune to soldiers due to lack of equipement customisation, but soldiers is good.
Had been successful till now with it. Of course its a mess with all the random groups, but i jumped in yesterday for one match and contributed much to the victory capturing and keeping a point for long winning the first two attempts to get me off in 1:1(reaper + ele) loosing the third when the ele came back with a scrapper :-).
Because you migth like range. …
Mainhand dagger with full rotation done offers more good skills and damage. If you fight at close range, and most fights are, dagger is better.
I tried to find how to use scepter best, and came to a condi based build, but basically half of the skills are not useful. The only good thing is i can use earth autoatack which does OK preasure in my build and that alone is huge, beause i can wait for CD´s in earth(with more defence) without wasting to much by autoattacking. Then it comes down to phoenix being good ….
Well eles elite are all bad somewere.
FSG: Good elite, but the cooldown is so long that its not better then a racial …. 90s CD would be apropriate.
Glyph of elemetals: Good in PvE and OK in other modes but still meh. Should be useable like a necro pet. So stay and be resummonable after a lower CD (45s) when it dies.
Rebound: Tempest uses it because it is an aura shout, but it is worse then the utilities like flash freeze…. Should be instant cast and 45sec cooldown. Then its worth.
Tornado: I don´t see ele runing it. Missile defence would be realy great here and totally fit.
Uusually it can be said, eles elites are not better then normal utilities, they are often worse.
There is a simple solution: Give ele the special ability to put a normal utility into the elite slot. When used it counts as elite.

I have no experience with fractals, but i know this type of build works.
The diffrence I do it is, I don´t use water. Its Fire/Earth/Tempest. Water is to defensive for me. I also run rabid not dire. Your setup is totally tanky. If you want to go this route take the new wanderer armor. I prefer to do critical hits that apply more conditions and add damage. 3k less HP is not realy an issue for me.
While i would find a good open world PvP within some kind of faction System nice, it won´t fit GW2. Its not designed for it. WvW needs a fast and playable rework. And it is not to hard, but it does not happen. It feels like no one cares about evolving WvW.
If I don´t clearly see it´s a duel i will attack (Clues for a duel: they both bowed, i got a message befor attacking, watchers standign around, ..). Very simple. I will definitly destroy some duels, but its WvW and helping a teammate outweights the possibility to destroy a duel for me.

Without any duration modifiers you will do about 288 damage per hit you take.
I like fire aura. But its questionable when you play a glass cannon build.
As long as the Gemstore dosen´t give combat advantages you can´t get in game with a resonable amount of time spent i am totaly fine. And making money with well designed skins is part of business i am totally fine with it.
What i would like to put in more effort is to work more dedicated on class balacing and to get WvW out of its misery … While i know power creep is part of business its usually bad for keeping the full player base and the game long term stable…
(edited by Wolfric.9380)
Just make both acountbound. It would be a relive. Forcing to play the same PvE content multiple times is grind and nothing WvW or PvP players realy want.
Scpeter Autoatacks are usually weak. With dagger lightnign whip compensates as a strong auto attack. And on staff you have fireball. On scepter when you wait for something (e.g. overloads) you have to use a weak autoattack.
Fire and air just don´t do enough damage for their long channel.
Water is soso but you usually don´t use it.
Earth has extreamly low dirct damage. Its only useful in condition builds (which are considered weak on ele)
Air auto needs more direct punch, fire and earth a bit condition buffing.
Fire 2 dragon tooth has a long casting time, for a skill thats only nice but rarely hiting mobile oponents.
And water 2 Shatterstone has the same problem never hiting.
DT should have lower castign time and shtterstone much more radius.
Then both would be better AE denial skills.
Fire aura is great, burn, burn burn :-)
just oposite to me. I use 5 only ocasionaly but burn them down with 2. I am a condi build :-). So totaly diffrent with no real great mobility. Just the FSG but this is amazing. I want less CD on it ….
I made teh experience that takign towers and keeps happens way less now. I do still roam to find fights, but with less players on the map this is totaly unpredictable. I had a good eaveing with lots of small figts and then an hour with none …. Last time there were groups of the other realmy fighting each other but no one from my server.
I see them constantly on EB not BL.
The new BL(HOT) did reduce populaton and thats just bad.
This is what i like so much. Going out with a friend romaing and those small group fights.
And the D/D eles are so anoying ….. engage/disengage …
But: Ewwww… You did not use FSG 2? Is it a pure power build? To do 3/4/2 on FSG is so nice. I whirle though them, they have to turn around and i am already leaping back on them and follow with 2. But 1s cast when focused might be a problem, was that the reason?
I usually play WvW not PvP but i also think tempest is a great teamfighter. I play quite diffrent with F/E/T S/F setup, but this setup allows me to 1:1 any power build, plus be good in teamfights. So i do a tradoff. Less team support and weaker gainst most condi bilds but very powerful against power builds and most ranged classes and i win against reapers which is very important. Condi Druids and Revenants with shield are killers in PvP for me at the moment.
For the old D/D eles tempest is booring. It plays quite diffrent and disrups fast elmental swaping. I can understand that it is boring. But its not a bad elite. For me it was an upgrade of my character and playstyle. But i did´t use daggers, and i think thats one of the main things. It doesn´t support offhand dagger well.
The only sad thing will be it it settles to only one viable spec(type). This woudl mean dispite so much options with ele there is not much build diversity again … And thats a pitty.
Server Worlds, Factions, Guild Battlegrounds.
All can be good it depends on the implementation. In the end you should fight for the fame of your guild (It is Guild Wars) and yourself. And is should be fun.
I said gale song is OK. I you dont play full auramancer you pick it. Latent stamia is the weakest of the thre picks. The order is unstable conduit-gale song-latent stamina.
Tempestious aria can´t compete with the other two traits well in group PvP but is not bad in a 1:1 or 2:2 shout build.
Shure. Depending on build. Viper and wanderer are solid sets. I do mix a bit.
I use Giver weapons/Rabid armor/rabid+dire trinkets and might adapt a bit with wanderer.
Greetings
Wolf
Well its swiftness ….. For running around its usability is kitten. Most eles have tons of swiftness annyway. Its in combat mobility for non air(arcane) tempests.
instead of cleanse using aura share is a good option. cleansign two conditions on one aura is just powerful against condi oponents.
This build is WvW oriented. For dungeons it´s PUG friendly but lacks full damage for organized groups. But it will work in PvE well. Like a defensive build works….
If you want it offensive then do this:
This is the direction I play ;-). I did add the food here so you see you hit the 2k condi damage.
(edited by Wolfric.9380)
you will feel it in exotic. Its not so much diffrence. the main noticable thing will the lower Health.
But be aware the healing power and shouts are group oriented. Its not a pure 1:1 build. It works better in small teams.
You can go for stop, dodge and roll. But sothing ice is a self aura. So when you are out of earth and get a critical it will pop, cleanse, heal over 2k damage and put the aura on you.
The only thing i don´t like in the build is no 25% speed to run around … I swap air sigil for that in and out :-(.
I also prefer FSG as elite. It´s a great tool in such a build. But the extra group aura is OK here too.

Bunker means you survive looooong. Usualy you can stall a fight till help arrives.
Rework how i would propably play it. (I play only condi ele sind i am in GW2 )
The armor is hard to get. Its well playable with exotic armor.
(edited by Wolfric.9380)
Depends what you want. If you want bunkering use number 2 with healing.
The bunker build can also use stone heart wich i also prefer, but a lot of players take diamond skin to get an advantage over condi classes.
Teh scepter build has that error, of course you take stone heart or diamond skin there.
If you want to hurt, forget healing power….
The power overhelming trait has to be looked carefully. If you use dagger mainhand or staff, pyromancers training is usually the better choice. With scepter I see it diffrent, because, while i use fire regulary, the cooldowns don´t feel so important.
Here a more powerful version condi bunker:
(edited by Wolfric.9380)
Other runes and amulets have een removed. So its maybe time for cele to go….
Of course people will complanin, as they do now ….
I think it would hit elementalists hardest. They can only exist in meta due to celestial amulet …
It is logic but another small nail in the WvW coffin ….
I brought condi tempest (and elementalist) to life in WvW and it rocks…
With S/WH try it this way:
I use focus and so a diffrent setup but basically its F/E/T.
It is not a full aura bunker. It has more offense.
This is a condi bunker:
(edited by Wolfric.9380)
Gale song is great and i prefer it. Combined with tempestious aria its even better. The 40s CD is long, but otherwise its very compftable. Added to the stunbreaks on overlaod this maks tempest quite stable.
The traits that need attention are:
Latent stamina: Clear loser against the other two traits. I don´t bother with it and don´t know what to put in…
Speedy conduit: Feels like a filler …. 25% basespeed added would be great.
Tempestious aria: In larger groups this is outclassed by the other traits. It need a slight buff that helps in group fights. Shout CD reduction would be great. A +condition duration would fit perfectly to give something diffrent and new.
Imbued Melodies: Basicall it is good, but bound to warhorn makes it rare.
