I suggested this multiple times. Would help me not to permanently swap air signet ….
It´s in the wrong place in air. It is more support when you use a condi build. For air power builds its realy weak and air is about critical damage ….
A swap with empowering flame would work here.
Its simply power creep with elite. And revenant on top is best for selling it. Its a usual concept to do this an balance later (in this case of course after christmas) when most have bought the poduct.
well. Downgrading visuals is bad for the feel of the game ….
On the other side i always hated that playerbar and that all is visible. I want to see the fire aura burning and ice on the skin … But not the icons …
Awful change ….. Another reason not to play WvW :-(.
for me it hurts to have cool effects reduced, but i am a fan of the oponent not knowing what i do. I would remove showing boons and effects completely. Only conditions are shown ;-)
The game has three game modes and a wide varity of player skill….
It is hard to impossible for the less skilled to get a balance, when there are powerful strikes, that can be outplayed. The casual won´t outplay and dies.. the pro wonders why. I see it myself and i am an average player. I read the complains about reapers and dragon hunters. I see why but i don´t encounter this problems. I have much fun killing the reapers and kiting the dragon hunters. I need more training to get by a shield. I enconter more and more shield users bunkering and don´t have the timing i need till now. But i am shure there will be the moment i get more of them down with training.
So the game is very much balanced about L2P. But this is obvious a problem for casuals.
It is build for easy use. :-). You focus on positioning and blasting from range.
It has good WvW usage too. The damage done is not far below a full zerker.
I did run with a friend, wo is a very casual player and i made the build for him. I try to take the attention and fire so he can nuke, and this works :-).
Playstyle:
run in air. If combat starts usualy open with static field and go fire.
Start casting as much as you can and stack might, throw your signets in, they are persitant and give might.
Very easy :-).
Avanced:
If you need defence go earth. (its well traited and can do a lot of nice things with 3.4.5)
If your team crys for healing its water (usually 5)
there are some nice goddies in the build like the resistance against criple,chill,imob.
-20% hoelbrak, -33 trait (-20 food in WvW).

I usuall suggest an easy to use staff build like this.
I condition removal is needed it can use eather renewal.
Blood sigil is cheap and good, fire is the one i usualy prefer.
Hoelbrak is cheaper then strengh rune. Both are good. I prefer hoelbrak.
I WvW food is lemongrass in PvE it is usually cheap power/precision based . You can use oil or stones as you like.
If you need more armor use a knights staff.
Variant: Use water signet instead of storm glyph and trait tempest defence. Then you have minimal condi removal and stun. But the storm glyph is one of the most powerful PvE tools.
I personaly run a fire/earth/tempest condi build mostly rabid armor and it works well PvE and WvW.

Drop all downed skills (victim is just helpless)
No rally.
Killed/finished = auto respawn.
Only keep it in PvE mode as it is now. .
already said this. Server relaunch with one tier ladder and new names (no more timezone or county server) + one free move for guilds(Leder can take the guild with him) and players. Anet should have the stats how much tiers will make sense. But keep max players on one map low (e.g. 50 per side). At day X all that haven´t moved will be moved acording to their activity and timezone to make a good 24/7 distribution.

Another class like dragon hunter. Yes reaper is powerful and fun to play.
I only loose against condi reapers (i guess its the TerrorMancer) ….
Last fight was yesterday eavening one with some pets. Killed him without being in danger… It seems i win most of the fights where people complain OP ness, because i use a ranged weapon combinded with some missile defence and a few powerful point blank attacks for a single melee burst.
Well it can be frustrating when such high damage skills exist. Then it comes to learnig and building your character to avoid / beat it. And not all classes can do it at the same level. I can´t remember loosing to a power based DH with my ele … But if i run into the traps without any preparation i would be dead.
All depends of how they see GW2´s lifetime. Of course money is the driver and if GW3 or something similar is already in their mind, then GW2 is already lost. They will never tell and try to keep the players hope so GW2 survives till GW3 is anounced.
So if they are down to do business and not to create the best product for long term experience we can´t expect much.
But a lot of things do hint to keep GW2 long. Also some are for money like the hated power creep. Problem is, players usually accept power creep and go for stronger characters.
I prefer a mix of berzerker, valkyr and a bit captains trinkets on a staff nuker ele.
= Zerker Staff, Valk Armor, captains amulet and rings, zerker errings and backpack. Hoelbrak rune, strenght and fire or acuracy sigil.
But i rarely use staff and scraped my equipement for it now using a rampager staff if i need to use with my condi setup ….

Both leadership and durability runes are extreamly powerful. If there starts to be no build diversity and most getting this runes you know they are to good ….. Durability i propably the best ruen for all power builds and leadership as soon as you dish out a lot of boons….
But: Its easy to balance a game if you destroy diversity.
Hmm. I play tempest an i have one autostunbreak and stunbreak on overloads. Works well for me. I agree criple, chill, and imobilize are thrown around a lot. But these are conditions. Constant condition removal might help here ….
For an easy play i suggest staff tempest using fire 90% or a condi tempest with good armor. I don´t know which equipment you like to use (or already have) and also what playstyle you like.
Regardless of the build, ele must move a lot and position.
Nearly any build can do it unless you totaly mess up with your stats ;-).
Just use fire with a staff and learn to move and dodge. The rest comes piece by piece.
I suggested a build type that woul work well for that and not die in one shot.
After you learned to use fire try to use earth more, then water healing fields.
Classic staff is run around in air, use static field on start, go fire, nuke them till dead (of couse dont stand still!). If you need group healing use water, if you need defence use earth.
I play condi tempest with scepter not dagger and its great. Had a good day yesterday eavening. Only one loss out of a half dozend fights. After the first two 1:1 I paired with a cronomancer (guess he was zerker. He used GS) an melted evrything in our path even 2:4. Another team of 2 won the third enounter. Thats OK they learned. The first two they focused me and got slaughtered, the third they cased the crono and won :-).
Don´t target the ele first, he survives to long ^^.
The reason i like condi tempest with scepter is that he can camp earth for a resonable long time, still doing decent damage and its 900 range. Staff does much less and dagger is a bit harder to handle with less defence. But i am tempted to try dagger again , because fire and air is realy strong there.
PS: I am 46 … And i know beyblade XD. There wa a lot of advertising a few years ago …

Agreed. This is the way WvW should be developed or a fail is imminent.
WvW needs home servers. And this in a way that people defend it and are proud to fight for it. Guilds are the second layer of this.
Also i am against timzone spliting. Never mark any server with a land or timzone. Make ONE tier list and totaly mix up players/guilds so you get a well distributed server load.
For population coverage i would suggest building a combined EU/NA tier list. A server mix without any country or timezone mark. So server relaunche with one free move.
I now think dester map is better as the new EB map and alpine for borderlands ….
Yes. Needed about four month to play ele to a level where i have no problems with monstes (e.g. needed about a dozend runs in arbor to say i can do the dungen well) and am competative in playerfight, and after half a year i am still far from the high level PvP players i only win through tactic and build against them not pure “Skill”. What gives me a chance is that i focus on one character, constatly try to adapt my build and learn to play it. Would be lost in space trying to learn 8 classes and then not being able to battle other players well.

Air: I sometimes use it on starting a fight.
Fire: Often use it against NPC´s. Only a few uses against players, usualy in teamfights when i am not focused.
Earth: Often used. Damage is not to great but its useful giving stab, protection, criple, imob and bleed. Combined with my autostunbreaker this swallow all CC. Since i am a tempest the combination gale song, stunbreak on overload and earth overload its quite rare that any CC hindes me.
Water: No use …..

What i read out of this he likes duels and small group combat.
Then the question is meta build or more customized. And what resources/equipement is available.
D/D is outdated. D/F is better for duels when you meet reapers or dragonhunters.
I am a WvW fan and player and so i use staff or offand focus. Usually scepter/focus but scepter has its flaws but i like it. Funny that it helps against reapers and trapers due to range :-).
A toal of three diffrent homeland maps (Alpine, adapted EB and reworked desert) .
Overflow goes to EotM.
T8 EU and theres no BL defence. Usually a fistfull roaming and sometimes a group of about 10 takes a turn geting towers and keeps without resistance.
Most are in EB now.
i would like the possibility to say swap only traited elements but select the weapon set for each element and get 5sec swap CD for only having two elements.
Or get a weapon swap instead elemental swap on 5sec CD and choose your element. So you are a fire Elementalist with staff + D/Wh and can swap within fire.
well stated. I also like and run a unique build/equipement and thats important for me.
cardboard cutouts —> perfect stated and i strongly dislike it. I usualy adapt against it and am very successful. Played magic the gathering a very long time ago. Got to N1 in my county for over a year by not copying, wining by surprise and adapting against META.
Servers are split into EU and NA. This results in timzone oriented population.
I would relaunche as global servers without tags for new tiers. Totaly mixed in timezones and the number of tiers adapted to the current population.
Fine. No Megaserver. Your prosposal is diffrent from megaserver but as i understand its more complicated, timezone based and against server identity. I dont like megaserer and also it disagree with timezone based blobs where you can fight arcross the board destroying serer and propably even guild identity. This is a valid and small groups/solo player oriented, but it lacks the “World” feeling and i think would also impact guild coherence.
Great that you invest much time diku. Also i like it when you collect responses, especially to the map setup. Maybe make a new thread where you collect the suggested map composion versions.
But i disagree to a timezonebased globe (megaserver) setup. A very simple server reset creating new tiers and totally mixing all timezones is a simple and i think very effective solution. Sever(not timezoen globe!) and guild identity is mandatory.

Its one of the games economic and motivation pillars that people work (craft, collect ….) for their perfect WvW equipment. Sorry but pemade/standard equipment is already there for sPvP. Its even a reason for many not to play sPvP.
Well i don´t like a megaserver concept. But after a long time a cleanup and server “Merge” won´t be a bad thing. This must not mean a population decrease. We don´t know the numbers of active players. This will define the number of tiers. Even less tiers on stronger servers might be possible (but its not good to pack to much).
What i would do is merge EU and NA. Create a full set of maybe 10 Tiers with new server names (if there are more people make more tiers).
Then launch them and give each player a free move to one of the servers. Also let a guild leader take the guild with him. After some time (anounced day X) distribute all remaining players to the new servers (unse active and inactive in the distripution for a better spread). Totally mix EU and NA. New server have no country or timezone names. You get a more homogeneous load now.
Shure the players have to get a new server identity. But it will lead to much more action, new people meeting and activity more 24/7 distributed.
Somtimes there is just the point where you have to mix the cards new.

Puh. It looks too complicated… I prefer a solution that can be described in two understandable sentences that everyone understands. The long specification is for the devs.
A stable home identity is good. Please no floating WvW and free transfers like candy.
And i prefer difrent maps for each server. Alpine + reworked EB + Desert.
I don´t like huge blob fighting. I prefer an server where there is a healthy number on it that is intrested to assault, defend and roam and this all works together for rewards and gameplay. The 20 man siege group is as important then the two man roming team taking camps, distracting enemies and bringing/cuting suplies and upgrading keeps. As its not possible to do all eficient with a blob.
A -40% condi duratio nwould evel let me think using it…. In its curren form i don´t like it. It might counter a few dire condi builds but thats all …. And i even think its good that this counter exists.
Definitly not good to fill servers till maps burst, so there are always large groups runing around.
If megaserver supresses roaming and small groups with high population that you can´t run around with a few friends annymore WvW will be killed again …. So its not easy.
If population is an issue don´t use megaservers. Merge EU and NA servers so population divides trough timezones. Maybe a huge relaunch.
Give a free server move. Open 10 new tiers. Give some time for players to select a new home. On Day X divide all guilds/players left on the new servers and mix EU/NA.
An don´t name the new servers NA or EU or FR ….

I would like three diffent borderlands for diversity and droping EB.
Alpine, Desert and EB. For that EB has to be adapted as homeland and Dersert reworked without Laser and less PvE gimiks. Of course no autoupgrade.
I am often runing solo or paired with a friend in WvW on tier 8.
Population is realy low. But i can get nice fights at equal numers or one more at the oposing side.
Of course there are moments i don´t meet others and then a group of 3-5 gets in my way and i have to avoid them. I definitly would like to see more small roaming teams.
But there is not Keep defence. A server decides to take keeps + towers. Builds a 10 man group and takes all without resistance…. WOW thats WvW …
Doing this before christmas is critical bad timing unless they relaunch next week.
Thats clear, but i am not shure if this “Bug” can be declared as “Feature” :-).
If this leads to 4/5 tempest groups its bad and has to be removed.
Its logic. If it stays that way it makes rebound very powerful in tempest groups.
I am not shure this was intended. I guess not but i am not shure if it´s OP. Might finaly make it a powerful elite in a special case…
I would do the following:
Remove autoupgrade
Rework EB to reflect a homeland
Remove laser (put camp in center instead) and remove jump pads and some traps.
then put difrent homeland maps in place.
Top server: alpine
Middle: reworked Borders
Low: Desert.
Drop EB
Would definitly like that :-).
It might be wise not to split timezones. This will close empty night windows.
