Actually flashy effects, new playstyle and diversity is enough and the key. Sadly Powercreep works as selling point too and if ANET can increas their margin they might do it …. Even if it´s only 10%. My opinion is long term effects of power creep are usually worse then the short term money you make. ’Iam PvP and WvW focused so :-/ ..

Looks very intresting. But will be hard if i can´t swap to an element gaining the same skills on 4+5 evry time. E.G. when i swap to air for breaking a block shield i need my unblockable knockdown on 5, regardless which element i currently am in …
Same for magnetic wave. I am dead if i need 3s to use it. the swap, cast when i see rapid fire aiming or a condi bomb striking makes win or die.

They say it adds more new playstyles. So diversity which is the bread and butter for long term exitement. We all know that power creep ruins diversity and ends up in people being forced to play specivic builds/classes/elite to perform well … So it ruins all effort for long term fun.

hmm i did´t post my gear in this thread … So take a look.
Doesnt´look very tanky but i teach most oponents the oposite …. And it hurts too.
And no i don´t need invigorating torrets i have large regen uptime annyways (swap, water, trident, rune, glyph, overload water ….) and some vigor from phönix and water passive.
Weakness is CC defence but rarely have troubles. In roaming FSG as elite is a top option.
Food is also personal preference. I like prikley pear pie and utility i usually go with precision or condi. Sigils also changable.
You can also play around and do something like all celestial trinkets rest viper.

What i like on this build is how it plays and i got lots of surprised oponents.
I feels good as real ele. A boon machine that supports, does strong condi damage and noticable power damage. Not as easy as the 600 radius auramancer support).
It´s not maximised for PvE damage but i kill mobs very fast without struggles.
This build also works well using fire instead of arcane especially in PvE (fire 1,3,3 or 1). Runspeed is more anoying with fire. Well basically you can use any element instead of arcane … It plays a bit different depending what you use. I dislike water and think it only moves more in support but plays horrible ;-).

Weaknesses: Sometimes chain CC. Condi mesmers and good warriors are very hard to fight.
Killing other eles can be near impossible but he won´t kill you too XD.

It´s right that all these exists. But i also made good experience. And for females in chat it´s 99% realy fine and no problem. I can only remember once that some sexual comments were made. But this was due to people knowing her in RL and she having two realy big b…
So well it´s a chance for better communication. Won´t work every time.
Thing is i also got random people into voice chat, but the time is too short during match preparation to sync and connect in teamspeak or skype …

But there need to be some additions.
First the player should be able to set preferred language´s.
Then the scheduler needs to take that into account when pairing.
Then there should be an option that says only Q with voice chat which results in only being paired with people that have voice chat activated and a fitting language …

There are a few things needed to fight them.
1.) Watch your condi bar and don´t blow cleanses lighly. You need a remover if large burn stacks pop up. I learned it that fighting a burn guard without always keeping an eye on my condi bar can kill me in seconds …
2.) As mentioned you need condi removers on demand. Small ones are usually sufficient (e.g. soldier rune with shouts)
3.) Unblockable attacks help a lot. So warrior with might signet is one of the options. Basilisk venom another one i use. I play ele and get them with unblockable air knockdown.
4.) And as Haleydawn said. Avoid striking into blocks. If i see shield goin up i usualy do something elese like casting a heal, dodging behind them, setting up a field ….

Basically if you are good with ele you beat them and a warrior with berserkers stance/cleansing ire and might signet should also do it.

I am basically fine with 5:5. But more maps with diffrent mechanics where solo play has a larger impact. Basically Maps that don´t do all the same with slight modifications.
Old skyhammer (only cannon should have been changed) was good, niffel is very nice as is foefire with it´s smaller scale. Capricorn is OK it´s scale is also small with three nodes so not much diffrence but it has the bonus point. Colluseum? I thin´k this one is to much small scale, no need for it. Maps with five points, maps with teleporters and so on. Bring fun gameplay not maps that all have the same base. And yes diffrent layouts and mechanics prefer diffrent team composition and builds. Thats good …
And while i think stronghold is soso it is diffrent….

Maybe a 3:3 with maps build for it will work with current builds. It´s important that mobility plays a significant role otherwise many builds/classes will fall out.

I agree to add 2:2 and 3:3 modes. But classes are not balaced for that. It will lead to some ranting that combination XY is overpowered. I main ele and i can imagine what happes if i pair with an engi … It leads to counter combinations as well.

As most said. Duo with someone you can work well together. I tried it solo and gave up. I climed but it was like 100 games for a half division. This season i am in gold and it´s the same.

There are two ways a developer can esteblish auto attacks: Placeholders or strong attacks if you build around it but never make an auto a strong attack on its own. This would be a hardcore design fail.

in the end. Don´t duel mesmer or condi warrior if you are not prepared for it … Necro is possible 1:1 if you bring high preassure and good cc even if you do´t have loads of cleanse (should bring one emergency annyways …)

actually a necro can bomb with his transfer in one hit … So we come back to block, dodge, blind , …. a power hit can also hit you for 10k … If the necro hits you you propably end up with 2-3k per second …

I play around with more or less condi removal. And it´s not the removal it´s dodging and blocking. I did´t recognize better condi defence using a good cleanse over a good block utility … In fact the block can also absorb CC and power hits … You need cleanses but like stunbreakers two good are usually enough you have to avoid more hits and you can´t survive anything.

I had great matches with double thief. But as said they must both be good at map awareness and work as a team. If this is not the chase in solo Q then double thief weakens the team. this is more often the case and people fear loosing with two uncoordinated thiefs which happens often … Also the other three in the team have to work with those two thiefs and so it´s not only the thiefs to be blamed if it fails.

This is what feels good even if it gets lost. I agree that there are situations where you know it´s over but a failed start is not. I won a lot by adapting after a bad start … The only shure loss is if you give up.

Yesterday i tried close to meta and it was aweful… The feeling .. so cruel. Could not kill and also not survive better. Only teamheling was better but had no real impact.
Swaped back and won … Well of couse can´t win all..

Thief is quite easy with it. Lack of stunbreaks gives me troubles with warior but i use overloads for it which works well 90% of the time. So unless you chain CC and focus i won´t die and i dish out good damage actually killing.
And teamsupport + Healing is still good with it. People forget what arane can do.
Depending on oposing team i swap cleansing flame and flash freeze with arcane shield and aftershok as needed.

I am in EU too. Gold and have nearly the same experience. (not all to close but most are over 300 and many over 400).
Yes you get someone that AFK´s (mostly after something went bad…). Yes games can get blowouts due to human factors.
What i see is that the system balances classes. My concern is that it puts class balance over MMR balance when doing the final side distribution, which will then actually create more one sided matches than having classes stacked.

Kryptonite:

Necro in any teamfight. It´s kill him or loose. In 1:1 it can go either way but the realy good ones will win.
Condie Mesmer.

Not Kryptonite but mostly loss:
Warrior in 1:1. Power and condie are dangerous. None kills me fast but both can hunt me down. I usually struggle to kill them in 1:1. In teamfights they often melt.

When youre doing well, winning your fights ….having that random person on the team die and shout “this thief is useless”. Eventho youre steamrolling ppl and decapping every occasion.

I loose most matches due to one player starting to flame on the first mistake or bad thing that happens. 4 fight mid, thief goes far after caping close… Thief dies in his 1:1.
One starts to rant about how bad thief is more then actually focusing on continue to fight hard … We loose 400 : 500 especially as after 5 minutes of flaming the thief, that actually showed hes not the worst (we don´t know why he died …) threw back some words … I got flames too for 1:2 ing 3 minutes on their far with my ele AFTER we won the mid fight and taking the lead, with the flamer AFK ing for typing and blaming me for loosing the game :-/.

I don´t think you must be the meta auramancer but things like focus, soldier rune, tempest seem mandatory … So i think variants are possible and at least for me perform well but yes basically you are menders or sage auramancer ….

I guess meta mesmer if you are good with it. But it also depends how the team plays.
You need mobility, good dueling and should not die outnumbered.
Mesmer has it all. I personally think a mobile warrior is also suited but misses teleport and portal … Also engi can win a match by not dying. Ele is risky if the team is competent ele is great otherwise you are often helpless. And druid is some kind of jack of all. Damage, healing ok mobility.
Well played thief can carry strong if the oposing team has a bad rotation/movement.

I am most comfotable with scepter/focus and it works very well in gold. I dueled a top thief in WvW for testing and won something like three out of the first four fights. He did then change something in his build and had very good interrupts afterwards beating me much saver … So it also depends on what you fight. In solo Q the higher i get with my build the more i like it due to people mostly knowing what to do and my uncommon build catches them by surprise. I do much more damage using sage amulet but have lower heals and so support which is not so bad in random groups.

There’s only one thing left to they to do: solo queue only.

While i love to pair with someone (fried or new player that might become a friend …) and that social aspect should not be ignored, this will solve a bunch of problems ….

So i think they need multiple Q´s and game modes. While 2:2 might be to much change from balance focues, 3:3, 4:4 and 5:5 modes might be possible.

Low (and stable) build diversity takes away some exitement.

Yes celestial for the allrounder works. I personaly stop toughness at about 2600 and prefer to add more offensive stats (viper). Also 15-16k HP is enough for me so i use some cele trinkets + dura rune and weapons and most armor is viper.

1.) Yes. Map completion won´t come from doing other stuff, but you can get the hero points from WvW rewards. I would suggest to do Hot Hero points in verdant brink and auric basin to get you elite spec.

2.) You should play around with the build generator and buy exotic gear for the build you want to play. I am in EU and if on at the same time i can help you. There is a threat with names here for serching IG help.

Radiance Rune Still viable for Auramancer?

I think ist´s good but did´t bother using it due to durability rune…. and i think it´s not cumulative with one with fire. If both would add up it would be intresting for a fun fire aura build. When i go condi i often use scavening rune. I hate it that one rune is so dominant in WvW but durability for a boon ele is just great.
Of course soldiers is also a top rune for a shout build. I like surging on power builds and classic strength, hoelbrak or pack are all good for power builds. (PVE power also has scolar rune)

PvE and WvW are diffrent if you want an optimal raid setup. Otherwise it can work. For selfish auras to fully work you need to tank. As mentioned either pyromancers or power overhelming has usually more impact. The only useful setup would be a condi bunker. My experience is that mainly viper is more fun and that´s not full bunker benefiting from the other traits more. I have no problem stacking might annyway.

While i would love the trait working it still feels weak. In a power build with fire i pick the CD an damage option, in a condi one (using sage) the + condi damage.
you can do a deadshot build with it. Basically in pvp fire + air doesn´t work well for me.
As fun build this works but it´s low on defences. I prefer earth and/or arcane

It´s about facing one or two condi builds per match on the oposing team. Mostly mesmers are condi .. What a surprise … Then splash in condi war, necro and burn guard. Barley encounter other condi builds in EU gold. So basically mesmers make about 50% of the condi oponents i encounter …

That makes much more sense in every way, from the perspective of mathematics and balance. The algorithm however, did not do that. That system designed around creating mathematically balanced splits, decided to stack every strongest player on the red team.

I mean, when I look at this, I don’t understand why there are people trying to defend the algorithm here. Whether it was match manipulation, server favoritism or a burp within the algorithm, something is wrong with that match making. It clearly chose to stack the red team instead of make a balanced match.

I’m not defending the alg at all, but like I said earlier, this is probably a consequence of everyone demanding class stacking balance. They spammed the forums endlessly suggesting that mirror matchups are more important than skill balance. Now games are so far out of balance that appropriate rating is either moving way to slow or not at all.

You can practically game the system now by running a 4 man of all different classes and queing at the same time to get paired together.

This is something i also think might be true. It looks like they implemented a class balance priority. During prime time i get a large number of mirror matches and if not quite close to that. Stacking on one side is not very often anymore. If there are 3 guards it will be divide 2:1 if 4 its 2:2. It either weights class balance high or even priorizes it over MMR.
If true it will actually lead to more imbalanced matches. 200 rating weights much more then stacking … If it´s that way it´s a total fail with good intention or giving in to forum whining …

I don´t play guard but as war i can bring them down the moment their blink is on CD. He is vulnerable to CC. As ele i directly assault and spam AE on top of them … That at least troubles them.

Duo Q is a compromise to allow play with a friend. It´s not suited for the current conquest setting but it´s useful as long as it´s not exploited …

If conquest is used for a ranked system that means something, then it must be solo or 5 man premade. For solo Q we should get class ranking and thus class locking.
And that not each match will be perfect is quite shure. Lots of human factors as Trevor showed …

1-2 condi builds in average per match on oposing team. Can’t say it exact. Seems to lean more to the 2. Basically 90% of the mesmers and about 50% of war/necro play condi. Maybe more condi war/necros in lower divisions. Then 20-30% of the guardians are burn and some condi thiefs.
This means you will face a dangerous condi oponent in each match and this means you face the following mentioned by Kadj:

With typically only three slot skills available, sacrificing even one can severely cut down on your ability to respond to other major parts of the meta.

And people often can´t stand this. I have the same problem. I can change my utilities depending on needs. If i put in the condi remover instead of the block i might stand the condi build but get killed by the CC+Power spike if i use the block i have to avoid dueling the condi build knowing i loose in the long run.

Bad? No … Not for me. It´s actually good.

Much more frustrating is the low build diversity within the classes but overall balance is OK.
Of course people that dislike rock/paper/scissor systems will not get warm with such a concept that leans a bit to build wars….

I needed about 100 games to get rotations and maps to a level that i say it´s OK for ranked… An the other thing is to know and be traind in the class you play. Going ranked and then swap to a class you never played in PvP before should be a no go …

It´s more a problem of the system then a tutorial. After bronze a player should know what to do. In gold+ i expect that the player is skilled with the class he plays and not use something below his level. I main ele. If i use war/thief i will propably play at silver level and with annythign else its worse. I won´t go to ranked at gold with non ele. this is just unfair for my team. OK i might go war if it benefits the team due to rotating and fast 1:1 kill capability outweighting my lower manual skill with it.
I even get a bad feeling for the team if i don´t use soldier rune … If i do this its strangely random. The agressive build version often results in blowouts … in either direction.

gold + should nevre need a tutorial …. Even silver should know what to do ….
But also had this in gold. A player mostly sat on home. But fortunately this i rare in EU.
Whats common is that the skill diffrence is large. Often too large.

Burn guard is one of the most dangerous builds in solo Q. I have to concentrate not to go down in flames … But if i am careful (using soldier rune on ele) the burn guard is totally lost.

it´s hard if you don´t concentrate on the fight …. Strong against it are abilites that hurt/CC him when he strikes you. A tipp as power warrior: use surging rune.
