You see the gear i prefer but it´s a special setup with boon duration.
Berserker gear is the most common used for a reason. Very high damage and warrior has utilities to mitigate burst and strong self healing.

Had a close loss yesterday. MM placed like this:
Our team: One very good guardian, my friend and me (good thief and ele) and two very weak necromancers.
Against: One top Mesmer. (He actually carried the match), 4 average players i remember scrapper, thief.

Of couse we didn´t know in the begining and i stated guardian close they have mesmer and thief and will come … I go mid up front and tank (no oposing necro or warrior lets me do this) while necros build up life force … (Here necro said i go close and hold ….) In addition the necro started with a few seconds delay. —> This was already sealing our loss.

Well oposing meser did go to our close and slaughered the necro. I wanted to help but came to late. After that i did know the setup and that their mesmer is platin + skill. Our guardian and me could fight 2:3 and win and we countered mesmer. Anny other fight where their mesmer apeared got lost….Our two necros moved to slow and the one died to mesmer multple times. After realizing whats going on we already were over 100 points behind. We could catch up after always trying to move guard into mesmer and outrotating oponents (our thief killing their´s far) but lost by 8 points. Carring two weak links failed. At least it was close. And then the neco with something like 10 death´s blamed me for the loss.

Never ever throw players more then 300 MMR apart into one match please ….
In that match total MMR was propably close and the outcome reflected it but the skill diffrence was not enjoyable.

Power creep is the death of many games. I have seen it multiple times. It´s a short sighted selling point. HoT power creep, combined with very slow balacing and no further elite (on the same level) also brought down viable builds to a minimum and thus reduced diversity to an unfun level.
Basically if you want to keep a game long term exiting, you have to add options(diversity) without power creep.

yea and you said it. It´s about saving Ini. Ini is for three skills in my build.

Unload, headshot for damage and shadow shot to move. Move to a point where a teammate is fighting, unlaod and headshot (pul impact traited) and move on. Don´t step on point. This shoud usually win the fight. If I am not shure I can unload a second time and then move on.

I stick to ele but i use sage amulet which adds the damage needed. Still hard to get a win rate that moves me up fast. I won´t mind if i am in the right place but after playing higher i know i am not …. I had better and more successful (even no loss) matches 1-2 divisions higher then in silver… It feels like RNG where my skill just pushes the winrate a bit over 50%. You need to play somethign like thief or mesmer at a very high skill to march through the divisions. If you main another class or are not kind of platin to legend player you are at the mercy of the system and your teammates. And that is one reason why people get frustrated and leave.
And yes it´s my fault due to not multiclassing.(Or more not in the mood of doing it often …). Stopped to care because i also hate placement system.

I rarley play thief but i use a high mobile trap thief with trapper rune. You don´t defend a point as thief, you decap and +1. The traps are here to disengage or kite… I also do it with P/P and shortbow. Never stay close in a fight to get cought in AOE´s … Shoot and run and watch out for reflection … Funny is i can kill DH´s. Kite them and can even penetrate blocks with basi venom …But well it´s not a ghost thief…

I also want to see ratings after the match. It makes it transparent. digging in the leaderboard or seting temporary friends is anoying ;-).

warrior duo is powerful and a well played elementalist is also great.
Two warriors focusing on on target is usually quick down. Ele can stall when attacked and will keep warrior alivelonger to do damage.
For your question i would use druid over rev. Range to suplement warrior and the ability to emergency heal.

Especially for a beginner it´s viable. In teammatches a lot of HOT builds are more powerful. In solo Q some classes like guardian, warrior or even elementalist(much harder to play) can compete with base builds. So as long as you don´t paly in platin or legandary some base builds are actually good. Warrior is a solid starting point.
Ah and if you have a class you realy like and are well trained then use it and have fun.
If you like some build advices you can PM me or ask in the class forums for the class you like to use.

This is my solo build (i am no fully complete with ascendend). I use it WvW roaming and PvE. Rune can be pack too.
For me it´s very compftable and its fast on the map and dangerous.

If you only want to duel, then use shield and swap trait to shield master. I have a +30% stun duration sigil in my shield which is in my backpack.

Note: Build constructor doesn´t give me WvW ofensive infusions so i used agony.

As said i don´t stare at it. I might even stand up and get a coffe. I turn on loudspeaker so i hear the horn to be shure i am back in 20 seconds if needed. As said i thin i missed two Q´s in the last year without staring into the mists. I mostly minimize screen and do something else.

I even swap screen. There is a sound when it pops. If you Q then you should expect to be scheduled. If leaving the PC then exit Q. A slight increase in time to react would be OK but is not needed. Over a year and had 2-3 disconects and i thin two Q´s misses. It it happens regualry it´s not the system´s fault.
I don´t know about accumulation to much. I hope dishonour is removed like -1 stack per three days or it would be very bad.

They can rework the maps to have three borderlands with some EB (so EB becomes third border) character and remove EB… Would be the same without a total new Map to be designed.

Well the first version with on hit bleeding at 3s CD was not too powerful and at least something. Rmoving accuracy removes non meta build options it so its a pitty.

This. At the moment you can´t 1:2 you start to be at the mercy of your team significantly more. You can hold a positive rate with good rotation and winning 1:1 but this will make the 55 – 60% win rate not something to climb fast to the spot where you actually belong. It becomes a grind. And not being able to 1:2 is normal. Builds decide a lot here. You have to be superior to beat 1:2. A platin player will loose a lot of 1:2 in silver. In rare cases i can 1:3 but it fully depends on oponets classes/builds too. If theres a necro/mesmer/warrior i usualy have no chance to 1:2 such a composition unless they are terribad …
Another strory from last season. As written i got stuck in silver with my ele. I asked a platin player to due. He said i sould duel him first so he knows if i am actually useful.
I dueld his engi with my ele…. I won the duel… He decided not to play with me due to the fact i don´t play meta build ^^.

same last season me playing ele. Regardless how good i play i can only maitain about 55% overal win rate in silver. Playing high gold or with platin gave me only victories due to people actually knowing to play. You propably won´t belive it if you are bronze or silver but people actualy had position awareness and dodged in my direction geting the full heal ….

I'm loving the balanced match ups.

thats why we need per class MMR in Matchmaking. Also due to people doing dailies and backpack … Not going for it is a great fail for me even if team composition won´t be optimal. Just don´t stack one sided and even out MMR (always do this to optimize not accept someting like 200 diffrence is fine) after selecting players. I seems not difficult to have the MM use a calculation to redistribute players to the sides on classes and MMR …

I don´t get it, that he matchmaker is not reworked to balance sides after finding the 10 players considering classes too. And also i don´t think there is a need to put more then 4 of the same class in a single match, which should lead to two on each side maximum.
Just implement some soft avoidance for stacking into the MM.

well i won´t suggest using full dire but basically what you describe works well.

But: I think water is not needed. The main advantage water gives is condition removal on regeneration. I prefer fire or arcane.

There are a lot of variants. Undead or scavenging rune, krait rune, nightmare, sunless (with sweet bean bun) or classical balthasaar.

This can be done an signet setup too. I moved condi defence a bit to sunless + bun here.

Weaknesses are primary mesmer and warrior which are quite common in WvW but it destroys thiefs which is propably the most played roaming class.

OL = Overload. I mean i don´t rely on overloads. I try and if its interrupted i move on. They are situational. I use air often as a fight opener and fire an downcleaver. Earth inbetween.Water id my least used.

I also changed the rune to leadership in that case ;-).
thiefs are rarely my problem. Main issue is warrior and condi mesmer. I have to preasure and kill which is possible for fighting mesmer if hes not too good but warrior is a pain. He will just outsustain and kill after a while having heavy regen, condi imunity + cleanse and CC and strong damage … Just to much for a poor ele.
I agree thet arcane shield is well fiting. I also always have one stunbreaker in addition to OL which prooved to be good. but i regulary trait the autostunbreak for that. I learned to listen to it´s cracle and use the superspeed. But i don´t use fresh air and OL is a nice aditon which is diffrent. I am shout heavy also traiting tempestous aria which weakens oponents. This is good defence for the team and also acts a cover condition.

Well last season i had the following. (I main ele)
I got placed in low silver after 6:4 in placement. Fighting up was a hard grind only maintaining about 55 to 60% on ele. I made it only to mid silver (got in hig but got a loosing streak …
Then i met someone from high gold to platin and he agreed to duo. We got playing in high gold. I didn´t loose a single match there ….
What does that tell ……

I nealy always use sage + Soldiers. It´s the most solid alround option. I use a more shout heavy setup but it allows multiple versions. Using air was not the best for me. With air i did a funny ligning rod build. Going for air and multiple overloads i would trait stability on OL but precision is very low. You might consider air/earth using signets.

Maybe such a version. A bit more selfish due to no wash the pain away.

crusader fits. And full celestial is weaker. I play habrid stats with viper and more damage is realy better. No need for high healing power 2500-2600 Armor is a good spot and 15k Health enough. Preassure is defence …

I only play around with celestial trinkets. you don´t need more. Look at the stats from my setup. It´s a well rounded one. Even burn duration has over 50%. For me most values are at a sweet spot. Healing ist not very high but still OK. I stoped using durability. Was a boon machine but got boored. I play more agressive tempest setup again.
An i prefer blood sigil. Don´t like the stacking sigils. But they increase damage significant. Also no vigor on crit i prefer the extry condition all 3 seconds.

I like the build. Did a bit similar but had viper instead of marauder and Zerker and traited power overhelming. This is more significant hybrid punch. But i used S/F so well it´s diffrent)

Diffrent food too. Has less power and life but significant more condi damage.

its a grindfeast if you land below your actual skill in placement. And doing placement each season doesn´t help. It just creates more frustration. I stopped plaing placement after the first match that was a bowout due to chaos. I wait till i have a reliable player beside me. So it actually stopped me from playing ranked and i played daily in a season….. I don´t want to get low again due to RNG placement matches. I soloed them last season with 6 wins 4 losses landing low silver which resulted in being nearly stuck moving forward like a snail.

CD for most on hit is too long. I would also keep the bleeding on hit from the first proposal. It´s not too powerful. If not using precision intelligence is good but otherwise … I actually need damage options without swaping. Ele has only one set not two to alternate ….
Well i can actually use strengh als alround sigil.
Sigil of paralysation is great. Happy to see the duration sigils back with a slight buff.

I only play two classes in ranked. If there is no aily for them i either don´t care or go unranked. It´s easy ….
Proffession MMR would have reduced the problem …
But i agree in ranked this is bad design.

don´t think it promotes condition builds. The change reduces sigils for condition too. Torment and bursting gone. Leeching was used by condi builds and doom is nervend. Also geomance one of the most used condi sigil is changed and nervend. The sigils on the bottom with the up to 5% damage and the thre on top are the five not on swap and there is one condi, two hybrid and two power. All weaker options then we had.

Oh the stunbreak shout is also instant…. But well it´s a stunbreaker and has no aura. You would use it for superspeed.
I usualy have rebound and flash freeze on my toolbar too. I would realy like them as instant.

removing leech sigils is already a sustain cut. Also no water/renewal.
Well warrior could get a shave ….. Change adrenal health to be regeneration pulse. So it won´t stack with nomal regen.

I main ele and have warrior as backup. I say i am bad with warrior but i sometimes swap last second to counter condi heavy teams with a power warrior loaded with condi defence .... As said this is bad stuff. It is not used to adapt to your team it´s used to counter oposition even when a side stacks a class with swaps!

I’m probably misunderstanding something, but I’m having a hard time making out any “goal” from these changes, aside from drastically reducing the available options…and thus continuing down a road of less build diversity.

These are the goals from the other post:

Our high-level goals include reducing RNG gameplay, promoting counter-play, reducing raw damage output, and removing ineffective choices.

Right now we have the illusion of diversity. There are plenty of sigils that nobody uses.

I agree that the goal of reducing raw damage and RNG will be acieved. The sigils are all low powered compared to the current most used.
While there were plenty unused sigils i think there also were a good number of used one´s. E.G while i expect stun and burn duration was used, the rest not. Acuraccy was useful for some builds too. Shure if you look at meta it was low. Things like leeching and hydromancy was to outstanding.
It´s a change. At lease i see 3-4 useful for me. Options are the same for all players so OK …
And as a note. Intelligence is unchanged. It was already used in some competent builds. After removing all good competitiors this might get one of the most used.

Force and 10% condi duration instead of the two 0-5% sigils should be put in.
One healing like water and one damage on hit like air or fire would also be useful unless its an intended direct damage nerf. It might be OK to remove/change condi, direct damage and healing. But i would realy replace the two permasigild with one simple power (force) and one condi duration (malice) but not bursting.

i agree that the sigil change reducing sigil impact might reduce diversity.
But i don´t see the revelation sigil being powerful. It´s extreamly situational and such sigils get rarely used unless the situation becomes overhelmingly often, which is a bad sign annyway.

Only problem is that resistance is too powerful and broken and now getting even more needed. Durability rune is already very very bad and should´t have resistance….
So my option is to remove resistance from durability or maybe better make the boons self only …

It basicaly looks like making sigils a lot less important. After that they will hardly have any imact on the build. Removing the duration sigils and acuracy is sad. Well ok i only used two, burn duration and the 30% stun duration ocasionaly …. Leeching is one of the strongest in any build that realy has an impact. I admit i use it regulary.

Lower DT cast time, reduce phönix CD a bit. increease shatterstone radius, make trident an AE spell like 600 around you not GT.
And make earth outo an 1/2 Sec cast attack chain maybe inflicting bleed/torment/poision not only bleed.
