Frost Trap has a purpose and is viable. It just doesn’t line up with what you want. As is, it’s fine.

Last I checked, Ireno is still working on the Druid as well as the Scrapper. I really don’t have anything against the guy as the traits could use a bit of polishing here and there. What I’m glad to know is that Peters is gone, which means no more (or at least less) moving traits designed as Adept tiers into Grandmaster slots.

As far as I know, Spirits are treated the same way as Turrets, in which they scale from the player’s Condition Damage, Condition Duration, Boon Duration, Healing Power and considered a separate entity. The exception is Spirit of Nature, but that’s currently bugged and is supposed to scale with the player’s Healing Power.
I don’t think Anet would allow Moment of Clarity to work with Storm Spirit unless they shortened the duration of the active Daze. Would possibly be worried if it were to happen, seeing how they balance things out, they might chainsaw the initial daze just so it can have a 3s daze with MoC slotted.

Kind of different there as Frost Bow’s Deep Freeze is single-target with a 1½s root – proper risk for a nice reward. Frost Trap with a Freeze is more similar to Executioner’s Scythe’s ice field with the AOE freeze capability of “Chilled to the Bone!”
Why the cooldown would be shafted is the nature of traps being able to be placed and chained back-to-back and low cast+arming time while being mobile. Spike Trap is a prime example of how high the cooldown can be raised when given a powerful component.
With how Anet does things, if a Freeze were to be added onto Frost Trap, expect no less than a 50s cooldown and a minor Freeze of ½s, as they will be thinking of obscene perfect-case scenarios.

I say freeze applied opponents in a block of ice for 1.5-2 seconds, with 3-5 seconds of chill after the effects of ice block or breaking out with a stun break
Only with a cooldown increase and the freeze limited to ¾sec (tops). Even Necros don’t have it that good with Executioner’s Scythe or “Chilled to the Bone!”

You broke the first rule.

I dont really see the point in having soft CC’s if they dont actually provide unique effects. This is a bad change. It removes a layer of complexity to the game. And prevents certain approaches. Such as using chill and cripple to create a chance for players to recover by giving time to create distance (the entire purpose of those conditions).
Basically we have a ton of conditions in game but none of them work on anything anymore. It was bad enough that blind didnt work on bosses (although justified because of how overpowered it is). Now the rest wont work either. This is a step back.
I can understand you wanting to restrict these conditions due to broken effects like slow and blind. But that doesnt mean you should do it for every soft cc condition. Weakness, chill and cripple should all work as intended and not effect the breakbar. Immob is debatable.
This restriction further emphasizes the dominance of boons over conditions. And right before we even get the chance to see if harder content actually closes the gap and makes debuff conditions desirable. People were looking forward to debuffer classes maybe having a chance to compete with heavy buffers. Thats being completely shut down before it even started with this.
Really unhappy with this change. And i really hope you reconsider. Even if it means compromising and making some of those conditions work with reduced effectiveness on the big bosses.
Also whats the point in having unique hard CC’s and soft CC’s if they all provide the same predetermined effect/stun on breakbar destruction. Its dull. Please at least spare soft CC’s from this fate.
Completely agree.

Looking at the loot available from Black Lion Chests I would like to see some of the more less-rewarding items be removed, others merged, and an increase of quantity of other drops to make it at the very least a bit less disheartening when receiving these.
Remove the following:
- Boost Enchantment Powder
- Beast, Forest, and Furniture Mystery Tonics (the ones that come in quantities of 10)
- Tome of Knowledge
- Large Guild Discovery
- Medium, Large, and Heavy Crafting Bags
- Endless Monkey King Tonic
- All Boosters except the Heroic Booster.
Merge the following:
- Revive Orb & Repair Canister as a Recovery Package
- Merchant Express, Trading Post Express, and Bank Access Express as a Tradesman’s Package
- All individual Miniatures as part of the Toy Miniature Egg
Increase Quantity the following:
- Unidentified Dye to 3-5 per stack (up from 1-2)
- Transmutation Charge to 5 per stack (up from 1)
I’m sure more can be done to improve the BLC contents, and the removal of highly unwanted items and a possible merger of others would be a good start to make BLC more rewarding. Just a suggestion, feel free to criticize or bounce more ideas around.

Yeah, the warhorn sound is not a fart now! Yay!

This news wouldn’t be so bad if there was an update to the BLC drop table. Possibly guarantee 1 ticket scrap and remove all the worthless stuff such as Enchantment Powders.

To be fair, Thief and Ranger traps had a ½sec cast time and the change levels the playing field. Playing a DH with traps during beta was incredibly frustrating because of the total 1½sec cast + arming time. This really needed to happen.
As for stuff that they are asking for, I don’t see any of the traps becoming classed as a Symbol since none really linger around while doing consistent damage within the AOE other than Light’s Judgment.
Maybe ground-target DH traps seem plausible since it’s a magic setup and not really physical like Thief and Ranger traps. If it were to happen, I wouldn’t be surprised, nor would it bother me.

I must say, I wondered if they were making rangers last because they were going to include some tweaks to the core ranger as well. One can hope, right?
Maybe… core Necro changes were happening with the Reaper, even now, axe and scepter are having tweaks done. Could have some core Ranger tweaks here and there. There’s enough threads between now and then in which Ireno could have obtained a fair amount of notes.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Cheers for the changes, Robert! Thank you for lowering the cooldown for “Chilled to the Bone!”

Not sure if this qualifies since it’s visual and not a gameplay issue. The Lynx has this weird animation fold when it does one of its idle animations. Other felines kind of have the same thing but to a lesser extent since the body types used for the Jungle Stalker, Jaguar, and Snow Leopard are slimmer.

I didn’t really list a rotation other than using weapon swap with the dodge roll. I should try that out next time with Signet of Spite though. I’m usually lazy when doing open-world and keep Epidemic on my bar, even when I don’t need it.
Edit: Do you happen to have a Charr Necro by chance? I’m curious to see how high it can go with Shrapnel Mine tossed into the mix.

I’d rather:
“Warhorn skills converts conditions on allies within range. Warhorn skills recharge faster. Conditions converted into Boons: 1 – Recharge Reduction: 20%”
Literally, the old Warrior “Quick Breathing” trait. At least then when we can add support by converting burns into aegis for ourselves and allies. Also ties in with the boon-centric theme of Nature Magic.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
How would that work, mechanically?
Would probably have a poison icon that differs from the normal one to indicate when a person is poisoned by a PM Ranger that they are kittened.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I’d opt for transferring a condition when applying poison instead. Keep the trait offensive.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
It resets after casting scepter 2, corrosive poison cloud, epidemic, or blood is power. I’m doing in in game at the moment. Also, don’t forget to add in Deathly Swarm to that list. You can say it isn’t possible, but I do it every now and then when Barbed Precision is nice.
Seriously, though. Try it out.

Arctodus: Cast time on the F2 takes too long and doesn’t offer much.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I guess it would be cool, unless the attacks were very slow moving projectiles like Guardian’s Scepter auto attack.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Take into account more hits for more chances of Barbed Precision. Go try it for yourself. You can analyze all you want but after messing around with rotations, that’s what I have found to work.
I also took tips from a previous post not too long ago about doing bleed rotations by interrupting the last chain on auto since it applies poison for other skills/utilities. Could possibly maintain better bleeds on a single target if I opted for a Charr instead of a Human… =/
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I agree that Poison Master should make it so effective healing on targets you poison -50% instead of the normal -33%. Would also be nice if the poison damage increase applied to the pets, too. =/

Here’s a screenshot against the Champion Vile Thrasher solo. I will note that I left out dodge rolling for Mark of Blood during this. The spike was very short-lived, but hey, the thread asked how high can we go, right?
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
that said, I would like to see a screenshot of the numbers achieved after a tasty epidemic!
Doing a Vinewrath right now for screenshots. When I’m paired with a Sinister Engineer or Ranger, Epidemic gets insane! Now, I just need to find one…
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I’ll take snapshots later when I’m in the ‘wastelands. I will say that on single targets, using Enfeebling Blood or Dark Path lowers my bleed applications vs auto attacking on Scepter. With 100% bleed duration it’s pretty easy to go above 30 stacks.
Only time I ever use Enfeebling Blood is for an opener when against multiple enemies. After that, I never use it again. Dark Path I use if I need to slow an enemy down with Chill, the bleed is a plus.
Edit: 42 Bleeds is the highest when the stars aligned with Barbed Precision.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Why Bitter Chill? With chill only coming from DS2, wouldn’t it be preferable to use Spiteful Renewal to eat some of the extra condis from Master of Corruptions?
I prefer it to add more Vulnerability when Chill of Death procs under 50% health. Plus, Spiteful Renewal has worked against me when consuming self-applied conditions like Torment on Blood is Power when I wanted to transfer it.

@TheLastNobody
For me, I use Bursting & Geomancy, Scepter/Nothing & Nothing/Dagger. No Staff. Bleeds from dodge rolling into the enemy and weapon swapping mid dodge roll for Mark of Blood & Geomancy proc. My Condi Necro

42 Bleeds was the highest I have ever done on a Champion Thrasher in SW. Mostly average around 34 Bleeds.

Slow and steady approach. Try this out and tweak to your liking once you start becoming comfortable.
Gear stats left blank for preference. You can go Sinister or Berserker, but again, your call. I’d also note to save Quickdraw on axe 5 or gs 4 as you’ll want to access reflections and blocks as much as possible when starting out. Cancel axe 5 just before it ends to get the QD bonus.

It’s not the might, it’s the swiftness. This class has “too much” swiftness. Shocked they haven’t nerfed it on us like they did Vigor.

They could have released Clarion Bond with a “Lesser” Call of the Wild that had shorter boon duration than the original and tag a 15s ICD so it can proc every pet swap, but yeah…
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Yes. Canines and Felines have a dodge animation. All the other ones do a quick scurry in whatever direction you dodge in (assuming you use tonics to see for yourself).

Are those the same bodies as Bone/jagged/shambling horrors, but with Dredge heads instead?
Yeah. Last I recall, China localization alters skulls and so forth which is why the heads are that way in their version. Even the Necro class icon is different (shown below).
Anet could come up with a model for both versions that would pass China’s censorship, but I’m selfish like a Necro and want my rat hat minions.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I’d also like to add that the Shambling horrors need to have their own unique skin as well. They look no different from jagged horrors, which is a problem since jagged horrors look no different from bone minions.. Come on arena net.. These little changes are important.
I agree that the Shambling and Jagged Horrors should have unique skins, too. I’m probably in the minority, but I like the Chinese version of the Bone Minions. Those could be used on the Shambling or Jagged Horrors.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Really? I read it and saw the point as a proposal for Sharpening Stone to also affect the pet.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Guess Anet decided to leave it off the pet when they improved Sharpened Edges and gave us Hidden Barbs. I’d like to see Sharpening Stone affect the Pet anyways. The same goes for Hidden Barbs.

HoT is actually making fall traits look… appealing! :o
Seriously, though. As fun as it is to dive bomb a muddy terrain, I think Warriors have every profession beat with their 1s ICD launching stomp. I know I was having fun with it during beta haha!

Interesting. I can’t recall off the top of my head a group condition duration buff from any profession. Nice suggestion and something to think about. +1

Axe Training before the trait changes increased Ferocity when wielding an Axe in main-hand and the 20% axe cooldown was tied to Off-Hand Training in Wilderness Survival. There was no point to slot AT when running S/A & LB setup back then, or now.

I used to have 12 level 80s. 2 Rangers, 2 Guardians, 3 Warriors, and 1 of the others. Currently, I have 10. 1 of each profession at level 80 and 2 bank characters. Soon to be 11 if you count the Revenant.
I’ll also agree with AliceKay, though. If you want to do 15 characters, go for it.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
It’s all good. If anything there is some silver-lining to be had due to recent events. When it comes to the Elite specialization, the developers are listening to feedback, both for the Elite and Core and making adjustments on them.
This is evident by viewing Roy’s and Robert’s activity in their respective forums, Revenant and Necromancer. A certain dev is no longer with the company, so that opens up room for bigger and better improvements, as well as “new blood” to bring in new ideas.
Make no mistake, some of us come off as bitter and/or jaded, some more than others, but we all want Ranger to be in a better place.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Read up on the 3 years and check out the list of bugs. There are plenty of legitimate issues being brought up. Most of those 85% comes from a good place, they love the class just as much as others and just express it differently. The community has workarounds already, and at this point, want issues addressed before the pile of grows even larger.
Cheers anyways for the optimism and morale speech.

We might as well wait until next year around August-September for another feature balance pack to iron out the kinks.
