Let’s begin with something simple. I am a graduate of the College of Statics, with a specialty in toxicology learned from only the most knowledgeable of hylek. I am dedicated to efficiency and delight in finding new ways to use old materials. I believe the dead have unlimited untapped potential. I am a Cryptician, and more precisely prefer to refer to myself as a Bureaumancer of Necrotic Efficiency.

Imagine having a work force that didn’t require rest, sustenance, occupational safety, and best of all, fair compensation for their time or work! The dead would be the perfect unskilled workforce. People are just disposing of bodies. Waste! I’ve just had unforeseen challenges with the implementation of training and control of the reanimated laborers.

Layman’s terms? They bloody keep trying to kill us. NO! No, that’s not why I’ve lost all my independent research funding and was placed under constant Arcane Council supervision. There was an incident. With puppies. On "Bring Your Progeny to Work Day". I figured I should start with something easy like pets you didn’t have to feed. Since they were technically dead. The puppies. Not the progeny. Initially. I still maintain their progenitors were negligent.

My biggest fear? Being dishonored and having my legacy ruined. It’s not like Zhaitan had any trouble with his workforce. I’m supremely confident that I can surpass anything that overhyped bookah could accomplish with his minions. I’m sure the Council will come around once I resolve the control issue. It’s a real killer.

I didn’t join the Order of Whispers because of all that alleged cloak and dagger balderdash. They appealed to my belief that proper administration is required to maximize operations in all things. The best managers take a hands off approach, remaining behind the scenes, if you will.

Ahem, I shaved my head by choice. It was more convenient than trying to satisfactorily neutralize the putrid miasma my hair collected in the laboratory. The sacrifices a girl has to make in the pursuit of progress.

I run P/D and it took me about 48 hours to adjust to the Rapid Fire tweak.

I haven’t seen the stealth ranger gig too many times, but when I do I swear it makes me think the guy disconnected or rage quit. I must remember to remember this. *cheesy, embarrassed grin*

Sic ’Em, ah yes, can be a royal pain in the padded bits. Once I get past the usual "ah u sux ya cheap foo" thing, I say good for them. They used a skill well, good play, grats. Normally though, that’s what saving initiative and/or Shadowstep, having a back up plan, and not panicking is for.

The first part of that is learning to glance down to see if you are Revealed. Practice practice!

Honestly, I do think Shadowstep is a better skill, but that’s for my builds and playstyle. I haven’t really used RFI since the old D/D bacon winged unicorn evade thing, even though I get urges when I think about running the orb on Spirit Watch.

Curious, what set up do you run? Also, is this overall, WvW, PvP?

Shockwave, can you at least clarify and explain why you feel this way.

You’re making statements without providing any reasoning. Is it RFI by itself, or RFI compared to Shadowstep, or what? Is it the initiative or the cooldowns?

You have to admit, with the combo system, yeah, we’re supposed to work with teammates.

I’ll admit I get some joy from trolling people who practically spam chat with "do this" and "do that" during a match, but never until they start getting negative with it. How they can be helping while typing that much is beyond me. Either they’re not doing anything, or they’re getting smoked by the other side every 45 seconds or so.

The timer is fine. I actually had a match hit time at 125 - 25 or so. The rest I’ve been in were 500 - totally less than that slobberknockers.

I agree with your statement that the trait is powerful, and yes, Vigor makes it even stronger. However, you have to consider cost in addition to its risk/reward.

Thief survivability depends on not getting hit, either using stealth or evades. If you trait for Feline Grace, you can only get one GM trait outside of Acrobatics. The more you set up for defense, the less traits you have for offense. Thief have two traits to get Vigor. One is an Acrobatics Adept and the other is a Trickery Master on-steal.

I don’t agree with your take on the trait and wanting to see it be more "active". There’s a huge difference between spamming dodges and having the experience/skill to use them to deliberately evade certain moves while staying in to deal your damage. It can’t get more active than that.

I’m not that good. When I see someone who is, it makes me want to learn to play better.

I know I complained about having to play as Caithe through all 8 of my toons, but it was a hell enjoyable trip. Yes her skill set was OP for PvE. I was using her stuff min/max to tear through each run as fast as I could.

Totally out of context, but this is exactly the feeling I’ve been getting. I embraced GW2 for its fun feel and was hoping WvW was going to be my end-game content after playing EQ and WoW. It’s feels like a hamster wheel now. Whee, achievements. Whee, coins. Whee, monster bits. Ooo, new skins.

I still want to know how she goes from OP super young one to the world of suck in the original Personal Story we go through. At least she’s not like Logan "down for the count" bad, but still.

The thing with Courtyard is that it’s a straight up fight. Someone finally goes down and the survivors are shorthanded so it snowballs into a wipe. We’re so trained by Conquest to repop and get back in that all you do is feed the meatgrinder.

What should happen, to prevent the 500-0’s, is that the shorthanded team try to back off until they get back to full strength. Not that the other team is going to let them. At its worst, the team should fully reinforce in the spawn area to try the 5 on 5 again. Otherwise, it’s all going downhill after it’s been decided in the opening clash.

How did she get WORSE as she got more experience? This Caithe isn’t the one I remember from the Personal Story.

That out of my system, I feel you’re exaggerating things due to your frustration. I’ve played P/D forever. In WvW that’s great. I’ve tried to make it fly in sPvP. Because of the nature of the game, it doesn’t work as well.

I did D/D condi-evades (bacon winged unicorn!) in sPvP. It hasn’t worked well for a long time now due to balancing, heh. Either you stick with it, or you find something that works better for your skill level, understanding of the game, and in response to what everyone else runs.

I’m working on sorting out S/D in sPvP. Some nights I rock, others I get rocked. I’m still learning it.

No matter what you run, there will be builds and situations where you will have trouble dealing with them. Sometimes you’ll win, either because you played perfect or the other person flubbed it up, but generally, no.

You’d probably be happier running what you want to play, if you’re talking hotjoin sPvP or WvW. Look at all the info out there and go with what you feel is best. But it’s true that some builds work better than others, given the state of the game. There is no I-win button/build (that could be the joke HA).

Just recognize that you can overcome a lot of game related problems with knowledge, experience, and situational awareness. Getting lucky and having good people on your team helps too.

When I lose, I stop and figure out what happened. Shove my ego down and be objective. Did I make a mistake? Did they do something great that I might want to try on my own "x"? How can I improve to deal with that the next go around?

Live n’ learn. Die, learn faster. Works in real life, too. Um, if you like, leave out the die part, ya know.

There’s no better Free To Play MMO. Unless ya know of one. Suggestions welcome, natch.

I did it on thief. It helps if you use the shortbow evade to help juke the arena AoE. Also, traiting for Feline Grace and slotting Withdraw worked great for me too.

My mistake, but now and then I mistake the buff thing in my bags for the reward bags.

I watched a guy jump over a small rock to his death in EotM last night. The guy following him did so as well. Neither saw the edge. I jumped too but managed to stop in time.

I joined 2 matches this weekend because hotjoin was, um, worse than usual... #2 Solo Arena for the moment. I’ve only got 17 games in.

I’m not even that great a team player. I just try to not do anything stupid (chasing thieves, ignoring the captures, forgetting to dodge, etc).

My necromancer isn’t bald. She’s optimally coifed for efficient aerodynamics and hygiene management.

It’s more awesome when 1 of the 2 shots from Dual Shot obstructs and not the other.
