The boss chest at the end of an FotM run is supposed to give significantly more relics than the other normal chests.

I just did level 36 with a PRL of 32 today and this is what I got. With my PRL the correct number of relics is 45.

You opinion about Dredge?

The part that I dislike the most on dredge is the bombs. I feel like the only way to do it relatively smoothly is to either commit suicide or bring/swap a thief with long duration stealth. Even when I swap to my thief, practically 100% of the time, at least one group member dies on each bombing run. The only way to do this section is to die, especially when the dredge start picking up the bombs and deactivating them because no one is fighting them. The whole thing is a very unenjoyable process for me. If I had to choose any of these sections,

1. Control room

2. Bombs/mining cannon.

3. Rabsovich and clown car.

4. Legendary Mining Suit/Ice Elemental.

I would pick the bombs/ cannon every day of the week. At least the clown car gives some easy loot and doesn’t require death to succeed.

Short background, my old PRL was 39 because I couldn’t dodge agony well enough at 40+, 330 levels done.

Week 5 BG first, JQ second. Week 7 will start at 30 for BG and 24 for JQ. Winning is guaranteed for BG.

Week 5 JQ first, BG second. Week 7 will start at 28 for BG and 26 for JQ. If BG then gets second, JQ and BG will both get 31 and tie.

Week 5 JQ first, BG second. Week 7 will start at 28 for BG and 26 for JQ. If BG then gets double teamed by JQ and SoR and gets third, the final score will be 31 for JQ and 29 for BG.

The first scenario is starting to look the most realistic.

It’s sad that JQ seems to be consistently getting outscored and from what the JQ native was saying they are only queuing EBG. My guess is that BG keeps all four borders queued almost all the time, JQ is falling behind. If JQ doesn’t act quickly to turn this around in force this will probably seal the match and BG will win Season 1. This is the match point for BG.

OP mind your own business. The 0.7 levels worth of exp are useless to a level 80 char unless they’re turned into gold, best solution is to give it to an alt that needs to be leveled. We’re doing what makes the most sense given the circumstances, if you like making inferior decisions be my guest.

GASM just did this on Dragonbrand and the drake bugged, made it impossible to complete. Half of our members got through the gate in the beginning and the other half failed even though we had enough players to do the event. I’ll be bumping this thread until the situation changes or improves in a tangible way. 4 months for a bug that breaks events made for 100+ players is unacceptable.

50 WXP ranks for achievement, too grindy

I’d like to update my initial thoughts and my post about this. Since the season started, I, as well as everyone in my guild and my server have all gotten a lot more active in WvW. I’ve gained 29 WXP ranks since the start of the season. Although this required a significant time investment, and I probably would not have played this much WvW before, this achievement is not any longer than the other ones. By the time I cap 250 camps and sentries I will probably get 50 WXP ranks, so it’s not any harder than the other ones. At first I was worried about finishing all the achievements without getting this one done, however I don’t think this will be an issue.

Also, to make a more general point, the pacing for these achievements is not so bad. in 1.5 weeks I already have 11/15 for the meta and 50% for all the other ones, it’s not absurdly high like I thought.

Major Tequatl defense timer bugs

When the defend event starts, have people check in with what their timer is showing, go with whoever has the lowest time. If you’re coordinating over voip, it’s relatively easy. Doing it through mapchat, not so much. TTS kill rate has remained very high despite this issue, however it IS an issue and it needs to be fixed.

Failing a Teq fight because the start of the battery defense phase lagged out and a Risen Abom has been pummeling the laser for the last 20 seconds? Or the end of the defense phase lagging out and ending with 25 seconds left on the clock, and Teq magically teleporting to the burn/stun phase? Yea, not cool.

Yes, this is what we did, I asked over TS who had the lowest time and several of us including myself had the lowest for 40s and 20s. When the timer hit 0:00 it got stuck and the event did not end. In this same attempt we also had the problem you described where the enemies are attacking the batteries early. Our Megalaser started at about 40% because of this. We managed to protect it but the other glitch was too much.

The disheartening thing about this is that it’s completely out of our control and getting ready for the event usually takes an hour. We had 6:02 left at 75% health, although the time was not world record material, we had a chance at winning.

Major Tequatl defense timer bugs

Just now, while fighting Tequatl with Dragonbrand, we had a serious issue pop up which caused us to lose. The 2:00 timer for defending the Megalaser is often out of sync, our server decided to head back to Tequatl at 0:20, which usually works well. The problem is that when the timer reached 0:00 the event did not end, is continued for at least 5-10 seconds after reaching zero, long enough for the enemies to pummel the batteries and fail the defense event.

This really needs to be fixed, we had a good chance of winning tonight’s run if the timer had not been 5-10 seconds off. It’s really frustrating when we do everything correctly to the best of our ability and an external issue makes us fail.

This phrase is one of my favorite combat lines of all time, and Necromancers do it sometimes when they enter Death Shroud. I looked at GW2W and made my Necro a human female just to have access to this awesome dialogue. I was saddened to find out that there is an audio effect that happens while in DS, and it makes everything sound very different and distant, like it is underwater. When a Necro goes into DS and triggers the dialogue, it sounds like this:

“I am death incar—WHOOSH”

This is really disappointing, the only way for a player to hear this line in all its glory is to hear someone else. Please consider changing when this audio effect occurs so that the dialogue can be heard completely by the player using it.

50 WXP ranks for achievement, too grindy

WvW Season 1 is going to run for 7 weeks, or 49 days. This means we have to get one world rank every day for 7 weeks. The only people who will be able to attain this are regular WvWers, the same ones who are in dedicated WvW guilds. Please be a bit more reasonable with how much gameplay is required, 10 or 20 WXP ranks would be fine, 50 is overboard.

This is from the perspective of a casual WvW player, I have rank 30 on my Guardian and probably rank 50 or so across all my characters. I enjoy WvW a lot and it’s fun to strategize on voice chat (especially in small havoc teams) but I don’t know if I’m hardcore enough for this. ):

Winning clock tower, missing next round

The issue is with the Clock Tower JP. If the player wins the tower, they then need to loot the chest and use the door to get back to the starting line. The problem is that because of the current timer, it is impossible to win a round and immediately enter the next one. No matter how fast I loot the chest and exit the winner’s area I have to miss the next round, creating 1.5 minutes of downtime for every 1.5 minutes of play time (even when I win). I think that this is a bug.

EDIT: One simple way to fix this problem is to make the timer about 5 seconds longer, giving the winners enough time to use the exit door.

Did you buy an Ascended recipe or Exotic equipment bag? That’s a logical explanation for your missing laurels, and I don’t think they would disappear on their own, especially in such a specific amount.

Right now, if a player earns a fractal weapon, it has the base damage of an Exotic, but it doesn’t have any stats. This is done because the goal has always been to transmute the desired stats onto the fractal weapon skin. The problem is that this requires the player to use a Transmutation Crystal every time they want to make use of a fractal weapon. With current market prices, transmuting a weapon costs 40 gems, or 2 gold. Something similar happens with cultural armor, the t3 armors which cost 100+ gold do not have maximum stats. For example, the heavy armor gives 1071 defense instead of 1211. Transmuting a set of cultural armor costs 240 gems, or 12 gold.

Both of these setups are less than ideal. Please turn fractal weapons and cultural armor into one-time-use skins that can be used without transmutation crystals.

I’m not excited at all about the upcoming worlds because I feel the achievements are too grueling. Find every bauble in the zone, find every secret shop in the zone, these kinds of achievements just force people to use guides and do meaningless activities. Also as many people have already mentioned W2 is way too long, SAB has gone from being a fun casual activity to being in the same league as dungeons. The length and lame achievements in SAB make me apprehensive about doing more of it.

This design has been done on purpose so that screenshots look cleaner. Your cursor always ceases to appear when taking screenshots. The byproduct of mousing over an item is showing the tooltip, so it does not appear. You can take regular screenshots to make the cursor and tooltip appear.

The actual achievements OP has laid out as being required to get the title would create a very very well-rounded list of things to do. And it would take a significant amount of time for most of us, eg completing 5 races of personal story. And it would be more meaningful than having a legendary because it wouldn’t require hundreds of hours of farming. If they could make a nice coherent list of activities it would be fun.

Asc BackPiece or Vial of Mist

It only takes one Vial to get the ascended fractal capacitor. It’s not easy to come by them because it completely depends on luck, but if you get up to FotM 10 you will likely get one Vial by then. But if you decide to not go to the trouble of doing fractals, this is the difference between Exotic and Ascended:

Exotic:

1% (3%)

Ascended:

You lose about 20 stat points, it’s not a significant loss. The only other thing you lose is agony resistance, which you do not need since it’s only required for fractals.

Finally, if you allow any mists essence to be tradable you will effectively make them all tradable because they can all be converted in the mystic forge. It will be pretty expensive to convert a lot of vials in order to make globs and shards, but even then you would completely remove the requirement of doing FotM to get infused gear.

GW2W is being updated slowly as people get their Ascended chests with lower and lower difficulty levels, right now it says 26. We now have two people saying level 24 dropped chest for them. More samples please. If anyone took a screenshot I’d love for you to post it. I myself got a weapon chest from level 38, but that’s not surprising news.

The dev team is the only group that can really answer this question. I don’t expect a direct response in this thread, but if I do get a response all the better.

The developers and players can decide on a level that constitutes “high-level FotM”, personally I would say it starts at level 20, where Shards of Crystallized Mists Essence begin dropping. Some will say high-level FotM starts at 48, because that’s the highest level that groups can finish right now. Either way, pick a level where you think high-level FotM begins.

What percentage of high-level FotM groups start their first level with swamp?
What percentage of high-level FotM groups start their first level with dredge?

Logically, since there are 8 possible levels (besides Maw), we would expect the percentage for both to be 12.5%. In my experience, the actual amount is closer to 90% for swamp and 0% for dredge. I think this is a flaw in FotM that should be addressed. While there will always be a level that is easier than the others, having a gap as large as swamp vs. dredge is unhealthy for FotM.

Healing Power/Signet of Malice

Use SoM with dagger autoattack, shortbow bounces, Cluster Bomb, S/P Pistol Whip, P/P Unload, it works fine. You will never be able to catch spikes with it like the other heals but it outheals the other two heals over time. Works well for world exploration.

Beta Fractal Capacitor farm

It takes 2350 relics to get the backpiece.

Level 6, 58 relics = 40.5 days
Level 16, 79 relics = 29.7 days
Level 26, 100 relics = 23.5 days
Level 36, 121 relics = 19.4 days
Level 46, 142 relics = 16.5 days

You can also make a Quiver of a Thousand Arrows and change the stats because it is a Magic Find item, negating the need for 1350 relics. The rest of the recipes after that should be the same. Of course it will not have the same skin, and personally I like the fractal capacitor skin, so you decide on that.

EDIT you can get the backpiece much faster by doing multiple runs in one day. For example

6 + 16, 137 relics = 17.1 days
16 + 26, 179 = 13.1 days

One last thing, this is something a lot of people don’t realize. You should do fractals ending with 6, like 6, 16, 26, etc. because they give the maximum number of relics per tier. For example:

Level 10 = 63 relics
Level 12 = 71 relics
Level 14 = 71 relics
Level 16 = 79 relics
Level 18 = 79 relics

Levels ending in 6 are ideal if you like to run old fractals.

To get the best damage out of Blunderbuss you have to stand within 100 range, which is practically on top of the enemy. It’s much too close to be used effectively in a fast-paced fight. Increase the range a little bit please, 130 units would be nice, the same as melee weapon range.

You guys who are saying “stop acquiring so much Bloodstone Dust” are missing the point. The problem is not acquiring too much, the problem is not having anywhere to store it. The account wallet has already proven that any item ANet wants to have infinite space can have infinite space. We had to store Badges of Honor and dungeon tokens before, now we don’t. It’s called progress. All of the account bound crafting materials which cannot be traded (either in current form or their future crafted items) should have infinite storage. It’s impossible for infinite storage of Bloodstone Dust to hurt the economy when none of its end products can be traded.

It could have serious consequences for the poor players who drag down your runs but I agree, there has to be some kind of system that lets us know how skilled people are before partying with them. It’s an even bigger issue in FotM because a single run usually takes an hour, it’s harder to walk away from an investment you make in an FotM group than it is for most dungeon groups.

In the meantime try to get an ideal team composition with at least one guard and one war. Form groups with guildies and when you find another regular person who seems good add them to your friends list, tell them to do the same. Try to organize weekly guild runs of fractals, if your guild is active enough to do more than that even better.

In another thread, a player says that he himself received a chest while doing level 20. Also, Vexido above me says his friend got it at level 22. We need more samples please, speak up if you’ve received a chest from the daily FotM chest.

I think what sucks about having FotM be character bound is that when you first start out the rewards are terrible. It takes at least 10 runs to start getting Pristine Relics in the daily chest, that’s a lot of effort for not much reward. Also, the vast majority of people who are doing levels below 10 are not doing it to improve their alt chars, they’re doing FotM for the first time, and while I hope they enjoy FotM and go far in it, I don’t enjoy partying with them.

OTOH DigitalKirin makes a great point, if they make FotM account bound you won’t be able to do multiple t4 or t3 runs using different chars. In that case I wonder how many people it will affect, because most of us don’t do more than one run in the same tier. For those who do more than one run in the same tier they could do different tiers, the rewards for doing 26 are not much worse than doing 36. They certainly aren’t as good, but for most of us I think it’s not a big concern.

Overall I’m not sure whether to say yes or no.

Minimum level? FotM Ascended weapon chests

I want to find out what the minimum reward level is to get Ascended weapon chests to drop. If you have received an Ascended weapon chest, please post what difficulty level you were doing at the time. I already know that GW2W says the minimum level is 28, but I suspect this to be wrong. If a developer would explain what the minimum reward level is that would take out the guesswork, it would be ideal.

I have a nuanced opinion about noobs in dungeons. There is nothing wrong with four people who have never done a dungeon path being in the same party, as long as the 5th person knows what tricks to use. Besides having one experienced person to stack on, this is what you have to do for all of the 5 man dungeons/fractals.

1. Follow directions.
2. Stack.
3. Revive.

If you follow one experienced person and use the basic 5 man mechanics I just explained 90% of the dungeons are a piece of cake. It’s when no one knows what to do that things go bad. That, and when people ignore the experienced person trying to give advice.

I just did this quest last night and I never gave the difficulty of this boss a thought, it went by just like the rest of the personal story. Try changing up your tactics or something. Also I’m using a level 80 thief with S/P, shortbow and Masterwork gear.

When the round starts use Retreat and Save Yourselves and maybe Symbol of Swiftness to give yourself the speed advantage. Pick up three meats so you get three stacks of the damage buff, and at that point spike down Chomper. I used GS for this spiking phase but other DPS weapons like sword might work. If you have three stacks of the buff don’t worry about Chomper eating the meat anymore because your damage output will be more than enough to kill him. Someone else suggested this strategy online and I failed this fight 20+ times, after using it I think I won after two of three tries. Good luck.

My gear is Knight’s armor, Berserker trinkets, and Knight’s weapons, the same gear I use for the FotM anchor build. Traits were a mix of offensive and defensive, I don’t remember, sorry.

Liadri and AoE rings with mesh ground

Don’t forget the terrible camera angles.

I didn’t want to get into that in this thread but yes. Having my camera zoom in and out from fighting inside of a dome is horrendous. The camera in this game wasn’t designed for this situation and it really hurts. I’m trying to win using a Norn Guardian with 75% height.

I think the main point I’m getting at when I complain about the AoE circles and the camera angles is that we’re being made to play with an arbitrary disadvantage. I wouldn’t mind if they made Liadri attack a little faster if it meant that I could control my camera and see the AoE rings. The type of challenge they’ve made with these AoE rings and camera angles is not meaningful or rewarding. It won’t stop me from trying to win but I also won’t forget this.

Having bad performance inside the gauntlet is mainly because of the mesh floor. It’s a lot more work to render the mesh, and it still shows whatever is happening underneath. If the floor was solid your performance troubles inside gauntlet would be largely solved.

These two things together are a terrible idea. The primary threat when I’m fighting Liadri is the AoE attack that can instantly down me. Having an orange mesh ground then putting red AoE circles on it makes it a pain to see where the attack is going to hit. This makes fighting her unnecessarily difficult and it takes player skill out of the equation. Next time, give us the option of fighting in a dome with solid ground, and ground with a different color than red or orange.

TL;DR: Orange mesh ground + red AoE rings = FAIL

This bug has been in effect since at least February, it’s the earliest that I can check in GW2W. Would be nice to get a fix for it in the near future.

Most Ascended rings give three different stats. For Snaff’s Gyre (Infused) it is supposed to be power, precision, magic find.

Without an infusion the ring is OK, but when it is infused the “jewel” gives toughness and vitality instead of power and precision. Please fix this, it also affects Yakkington’s Ring when it is infused.

Remove defiant

The point of Defiant is to keep a mob of players from permastunning a boss. It does its job well don’t you think? If every player in the mob uses one CC, it will remove all the stacks and allow the boss to get hit. So all the players can CC as often as a single player can CC one normal enemy. The current suggestion of removing it will turn all boss fights into a snorefest, you have to modify your suggestion if you want a realistic chance at it being implemented.
