Ive been on DB since I got this game, through kaineng 2.0 and the first exodus of s1, and then through the bandwagoning of 2014 tourney. Its interesting that we have ups and downs like this and its hard to be optimistic. That being said i had fun back in the t4 days fighting BP in 2013 and if we stay t3 or t4 I’ll still have fun.
Also I’ve noticed that t3 and t4 have 6 servers with 1600 to 1650 rating so the matchup variety will be nice.

1. Do an assessment of how many players enjoy small scale WvW, the type that low population servers cater to.
2. See how many servers would be left after combining one or two tiers of these low population servers.
3. Give the players on these servers a way to influence how their server is merged so they don’t feel like their server is being deleted.
4. Merge one or two of the bottom tiers.

Most people suggest their own server so shameless plug, join Dragonbrand! Also the population shifts in this game mean that t1 and t2 have high pop now, t3 is the new dividing line for high and low coverage (DB is t3).

I want to see what WvW is like in Europe. I’m thinking of PS, FSP, AG, and GH, all of them have similar rating in t4 and t5. Can anyone please tell me about these servers? What is the ratio of pug to guild groups, is the public voice comm active, is any server known for something in particular? Also how is the matchup variety, do these servers get to have at least one new opponent every week?

People colluding in EotM to make it a more efficient karma train isn’t a problem, the fact that it’s a karma train substitution for real WvW is a problem.

The sad thing is that I see at least 5 top 100 PvPers in this thread and most of them agree on this subject, ANet hasn’t made any public plans to do something about it. Olrun’s story about Caed is particularly troubling.

With a good eotm train you can level up really quick, 2-3 levels per hour. Pvp is not as good as eotm for leveling, however it is more fun and dynamic. Each reward track takes 6-8 hours by my estimation, once you reach r30 and higher you also get a leveling scroll every time you rank up. Completing a reward track would give 8 scrolls and you will rank up 1-2 times, giving a total of 10 level scrolls in 6-8 hours.
The 6-8 hours is just a guess, I haven’t done any exhaustive timing.

Nothing wrong with maps like skyhammer in fact in wvw theres a map called eotm and its just like skyhammer where you can knock and fear people off the map and they die instantly….
People LOVE that map.
EotM is to WvW as hotjoin is to PvP.

As a player who uses strength runes on war ele and engi this is a reasonable change.

In ToL BLU and Sireph were both shout casting out of their bedrooms LOL. I don’t fault them at all for doing that but at least use an ArenaNet background thingy like they do at celebrity photoshoots.

I think I’ve been spoiled by builds with passive sustain like hambow and engineer in general. I’ve tried to play the 3-4 meta thief builds using d/p s/p s/d but I consistently get wrecked because there’s less room for error. So I’d like to know, which meta thief build is “training wheels”, which one is the hardest? Could I please get some tips for thief in general and tips for specific builds.

Has this been done before? A server wide program to teach beginner and intermediate players how to be a disciplined zergling, use a proper build, follow commander, not take supply from upgrading structures, give scouting reports, refresh siege, and all the other things that make pug wvw work.

I think most of you have seen this before. If the capture point is 99% in your favor and an enemy contests it sometimes you hear the announcer make the dialogue saying “you’ve captured the point (but you really didn’t)”.
By itself this isn’t a big deal but yesterday it happened on spirit watch. One of the enemy players brought the orb to the point right after I heard the dialogue (and the point was still neutral) and he scored 30 points.

Andrew Clear made an excellent point that I’d like to reiterate. “and either IoJ or YB, we just have to suffer through another week of 40-60 vs 20-30” Never mind the fact that DB has a lack of fighting guilds compared to SoS, Mag, FA, it does have t2 coverage. There are 4 servers with t2 coverage. Regardless of who drops down to t3 t3 is going to be very imbalanced as long as DB and FA both have their giant coverage advantage. Having DB and it’s lack of fighting guilds in t2 is a small concern compared to this problem, this problem will not go away if DB drops to t3.

Chaba please don’t presume you know everything about a server you haven’t fought in 6 months our rating before SoR was 1740 and after losing the baggage from SoR stabilized at 1840. That 100 rating didn’t come out of nowhere we gained a handful of guilds because of seasons and some of them stayed

In t1 each server gets up to 100k points from bloodlust and sentries if they decided to do it it would have a significant impact on the final score.

For those who are skeptical about this idea id like to say that I know it doesn’t happen all the time. The problem is that its a conflict of interest between normal gameplay and circumventing normal gameplay. It also has a good chance of turning into a race to the bottom. Say a t1 server has a server meeting and decides the following matchup is very important to them, all the major guilds decide to logout as an alternative to getting stomped. The other two servers will have to react by doing the same thing all for the sake of staying competitive.

I’m not sure how the game treats this situation but what happens if someone is downed and they log out. I have a feeling it doesn’t give any stomp points. This can be abused in PPT focused matches so one server denies the other thousands of points.

In theory this would be bad if you had to fight near it, however fights don’t happen in EotM and this objective gives 3 champ bags, so it’s fine.

I wasn’t there to experience it firsthand so I might be wrong but back in the day SoR would teach new recruits to play and command using the outnumbered borderland on purpose. Also hopping into different maps for a second let’s you easily know if enemy has a presence on the map.
Also I just thought of this so I have to say, would you prefer to not know when you’re out manned and suddenly run into a map zerg? Its better to know than not know.
