I’ve noticed that players follow a pugmander more closely when they have respect for the person. So my question to you all, what can someone do as a new pugmander or as a pugmander in a new community, to gain the respect of the players and get good teamwork from the zerg?
Thank you.

Anyone who has been in t1 or fought yak’s bend understands this suggestion. I don’t know if this is the best way to nerf ACs but ACs should definitely be brought into line in some way.

I like to roam on my engi and one of the things I appreciate about it is the high AoE condi damage. I can solo camps in about 1 minute by pulling the npcs and condi bombing them. My 1v1 is also quite strong and elixir s gives an invuln and a stealth, shield gives a reflect and a short block. In terms of mobility it doesn’t have leaps, it only has permanent swiftness. I can’t break fights against other ultra mobile classes. I don’t mind the lack of leap skills because the overall package is pretty good at everything, while not being amazing at it.

I know that 160/1000 of the top pvpers are on desolation and it has the greatest concentration of pvpers in eu. I have two questions.
1. Historically what made desolation the go to server for pvp?
2. With megaservers is there still a compelling reason for a pvper to join desolation, or is it the same with any server?
Thanks.

My answer is stale. I’ve played with some fighting guilds and I’ve also played for PPT and there’s no variety from week to week. Matchups stay the same, siege placement spots stay the same, fights always play out the same way even if the specific location or the nuances are different. EotM turned into a pve zone and no organized groups go there so it turned into a sideshow instead of a main event. WvW season brought some pvers in but that didn’t add variety and now they’ve left. Not really sure that WvW needs to get me interested in playing again.

The heal skill gives 6/15 vigor, stealing gives 13/21 vigor, the uptime on vigor is closer to 80%. Feline grace with vigor means one dodge every 4s.

If you ask about a specific server people from that server will recommend it unconditionally. The best way to know if a server is right for you is play on it beforehand. Wait until gw2 goes on sale, buy a second copy and use it to scout different servers. Check out one server every week, you’ll broaden your horizons and make an informed decision on where to take your main account.
I have a feeling that any server above t3 or maybe t4 is no fun to roam on because population goes up too much and people care more about killing and getting loot than letting you get a fair 1v1 or a doable 2v1. Eg the best way to not get ganked 5v1 while roaming is to not go to servers where people run in 5 man parties.

Basically there are two types of people in this thread.
1. People talking about their personal experience with thieves or what they’ve seen.
2. People talking about the thief meta and their role as a dps roamer.
You are supposed to discuss thieves in the context of #2 and not #1. Watching top 100 thieves like Sizer and Caed will tell you more about thieves.

You can say that guilds don’t have the right to demand ownership of a game area (which I agree with) but what gives her the right to devalue the gameplay experience of others?

I may just be seeing things, but Spectator Mode can actually cause team imbalance, even if unintentionally.
Let’s say someone actually wants to spectate, so he joins a server. Something I have noticed, is that if the server cap is 10, the spectator counts towards total player count, meaning that the match will be a consistent 4v5 while that one player stays in spectator.
I could be completely wrong, but I have noticed a lot of times when a match ends up as a 4v5, there is one player in spectator, and no new players joining the server due to it possibly being capped.
The hotjoin maps are 5v5 with 20 player slots, so 10 people can fight and 10 can watch. It can cause issues if > 10 players watch and don’t play.

You can’t advertise it in gw2 or gw it will get you a temp/perm ban, however you can do it and you will not be banned. There are sites devoted to trading items across games.

Honestly what I like about spirit watch is the tactical nature of the orb. The enemy is trying to run orb without a home defender? Decap home then stop the runner. The enemy is over commiting 3 or 4 people at the beach, neutral all their points. With a context sensitive thing like orb rotations matter a lot. I just wish there weren’t builds with insane leaping speed like sword gs warrior/ranger.

People from t2 making it sound like not having a commander on the map is a positive.
Hey I’m in T2 and don’t see it that way. Then again, my voluntary obligation is the health of my server in WvW and not my guild. LOL
That’s a good philosophy Chaba. People like you and I who have stayed on one server for a long time tend to think like that. I’ve noticed that the more people identify with their guild the less they identify with their server, so they stop feeling an obligation to include less experienced players. And the more they transfer the less the feeling of community gets, etc.

People playing in t2 are actually there because they prefer that playstyle. Fighting on their own against other organized guilds doesn’t have the same goal as tagging up and getting a pug zerg which only stays to capture stuff and ktrain. If you’re in t2 you should embrace that or try to change it yourself, telling fights guilds to “take one for the team” isn’t gonna work. The type of guilds you’re describing are often found in t1, they’re less common in t2.

I’ve heard stories about SoR back in the t1 days, how it had the population of a t2 server but made up for it with organization. Is it a real thing for some servers to be more organized than others? How do they do it?

People have the right to disagree about hotjoin, in the sense that, should winning and outplaying the other team matter in hotjoin? In a sense hotjoin is supposed to be casual, people can come and go as they please. I think the reason it’s a problem is because a player CAN influence what team they’re on, then they get superior rewards for it. This is different from ranked PvP.
If winning doesn’t matter in hotjoin yet people make 5v4 because of it, make the rewards equal for winners and losers.

1. People not fighting on point. Running in giant circles and not supporting the fights we have going on point.
2. People not doing their role. MM necro roams from point to point while our thief tries to defend home. Our thief pushing far to 1v1 a tanky spec and losing his 1v1 instead of +1ing our fights. People playing bunker and condi specs trying to solo animal with a thief on the enemy team. On and on.
3. People not calling targets or hitting targets. Doing their own thing and hitting whatever they want instead of calling a target. Targeting a bunker or a thief while less mobile condimancer AoEs the kitten out of us.
4. Ridiculous team comps. Three thieves on one team, none of them play another class with a tankier build. Multiple mesmers vs. multiple thieves = gg. Multiple roamers who don’t hold point well vs. multiple engis. The one teammate who isn’t playing a glass spec has to roam with the thieves instead of bunkering home/mid.
5. Skyham and spirit watch. Here is a simple MS Paint diagram showing what’s wrong with these two maps.

Since everyone with r54 became 80 its not possible to say who was the first. The closest we can get to declaring a first is by examining who had the highest PvP rank before April 15, because they were the closest to 80. I know a handful of names who were in the high r70 range, some of them were Super Mang Jose, Voa, Ostrich Eggs, Five Gauge, Kirito, and Marvin.
