Anet probably ditched the new legendaries to finish SAB.
This is almost unprecedented for a video game company. I mean the expansion almost cost as much as the full game did and it probably had less than 5% of the content. And even what was promised because it couldn’t be delivered on time is cancelled. I mean I’m sure the user agreement exempts Anet from any wrongdoings, but ethically, toward a rapidly shrinking player base, it’s not something you want to do.
What I understand is the bravery of it, that you are desperately trying to fix a mess caused by the previous management by reallocating resources.
What I don’t understand is why you had to break something that worked in the first place with the precursor collection. It would have been better to have 16 new legendary skins with precursors that drops randomly. One of the reason I left the game in the first place is because I had saved 4k gold to buy a new legendary when the expansion came out and all that gold was useless because of the grindy collection stuff.

You can be greedy if you can deliver the content, but HoT was rreleased unfinished and underdeveloped with an extremely high price tag ; every aspect of the expansion felt rushed. I’m quite sure they got what they deserved with all the people that left the game.
The new trait system is what destroyed balance and the reason I left the game.
I don’t understand why the inquiries about these small maps.
What PvP need is a system much more similar to Guild Wars 1, with bigger 8v8 or 10v10 GvG maps with objective that rewards skillbased fighting instead of camping up on a point with a bunker build.
I would have expected a bigger more opened version of Courtyard for people that just want to enjoy good fights and bigger Stronghold maps that support 8 to 10 players with the HoT release.
The Guild Arenas are too small for GvGs and the interface is lacking very basic things like a scoreboard, therefore I think you should bring GvG to PvP since the ranking system and matchmaking already exist there.
post 3001, I’ll reinstall the game if Anet re-release SAB this April.
1- Trash it and replace it with 10v10 GvG
2- Make new larger maps without gimmicks
3- Rewards should be equal to PvE or better
4- Rebalance ALL the skills to reward skillful play (currently a massive balance failure)
5- Add good music to PvP and short damage modifiers for kill streaks
Personally I didn’t stop playing the game because of the matchmaking system.
In PvP there is no more build variety and cheese skill-less builds on terrible player dominate skilled players with interesting builds.
They destroyed my amazing and unique ele quickness-burst-condi-duration build with the new trait system a while back and since then things degenerated into pure bunker kitten. I just don’t see what’s fun about the gameplay of bunkering on points. The fun for me has never been about winning but about the skillful fight experience, something that is just gone since the power/condi creep.
Still in the top selling mmo. They’ve fixed a tons of issues and their server system is far from a disaster, it’s perfect for WvW.
And at the same time impossible for WvW. The smaller amount of generated campaigns (effectivly a server choice) worked as a system because the map supported like 1800 players.
Ironically, the last time I read about AvA their “fix” was to reduce player cap to a third or something, lol.
Really, Anet already have the system sitting in front of them. On left hand side you got server based WvW with a population that no longer fill (or bother with) 4 maps. On right hand side you got instanced 3-faction WvW. Clap your hands hands together and make it one WvW – server based EBs with instanced borders. 24/7 PPT is only generated on EB while borders are 3h matchup that give your color a stacking boon (as in something like extra supplies, ppt bonus, etc, not a player boon) when a border is won.
At this point I think that even if they merged all the tier they wouldn’t fill all the maps. The only problem it would create is a huge queue for EBG which they could fix by adding multiple instances of it or bringing the EotM map to real WvW.
There’s been a lot of talk about megaservers in WvW. I’ll make no secret of the fact that I’m very much against the idea, but it would probably help increase the number of players per map.
However before megaserver is implemented in WvW there are a number of issues that would need to be addressed. Here are a few that spring to mind:
1 A guild group decide to play WvW. The first 4 get into instance A and the others into instance B.
The current megaserver system in PvE tries (sometimes successfully) to put guildies together, but the odds are higher than it may put your whole group into a new instance in order to do so. Whether that instance then fills up depends on other players joining. In PvE this doesn’t matter because you have events to do and stuff to kill, in WvW it would matter – a lot.2. You’re enjoying a good game in WvW and some of the opponents leave. The map is now below the population threshold so you get a “map closing” message and the chance to move to a more populated map.
You either stay and do what all the “night capping” complaints are about or you take a chance on the megaserver putting you into a map that has other players that will stay too (look at all the threads about lost progress in HoT maps). If you move all your gains in the current map instance become void as the map closes. Any megaserver system for WvW would have much more trouble balancing the player population across three teams, and map closures would have much more impact on players than it already does in PvE.3. You join a WvW map to cap stuff, for example for a daily achievement and find the commanders on the map are leading groups in PPK. Or conversely you join for the fights and find that map is PPT based and the commanders are more interested in capping stuff. Both sorts of play styles are valid and are currently catered for, albeit badly at times.
WvW megaserver would need at least a specific LFG system to try to put like minded players together, or perhaps a dedicated PPK map and a PPT map – but this would be moving away from the way megaserver works. As a minimum players should have some sort of choice as to the instance they join.In short, as things stand at the moment all a megaserver system is likely to do is turn WvW into EotM 2 (across 4 maps instead of one).
We want something better than this that caters for fights and capping, with small parties and larger groups. I’m not at all convinced that megaservers can do this.
TESO has done it. They just have to copy their server system.
It is hard to cut and paste anything into code as complex as a game. I do not want them to COPY TESO, that game is a disaster.

As for the big wvw update being scrapped for “small incremental improvements.” I am obviously worried that this might just prove in a sense that the big update never existed in the first place.
I am convinced that is the case, unless their devs are the slowest programmers around there is no way they worked over a year on it and have nothing to show for it beside the bare minimum of what the community asked for.
I dont want to sound pessimistic or anything, but WvW is DooOoomed.
What they need to do is so far beyond loot and balance… They need to make it fun again to get the GvG guilds to come back. That means full Guilds stats support at the bare minimum, then guild events and tags. Add to that a PPT system that doesn’t suck and PPK system that makes it possible to catch up. Combat overhaul that doesn’t reward cheese comp and builds, class balance, cosmetic rewards, removal of crap like the siege disabler, faster map travel, removal of other annoying gimmicks and obstacles, etc… The list goes on and on.
Overloads should have been a F5 skill with an independent cooldown from the attunement swap. Then it could have been made stronger with a longer cooldown. There is just no way to balance it when the cooldown is linked to the attunement swap.
One of the main reason I stop playing elementalist and eventually the game was because Tempest was (1) the only viable build (build variety was gone) and (2) it interfered with the combat rotation I had spent years to perfect and crippled the elementalist gameplay.
Warhorn should have given the elementalist extended range with a scepter, to make the scepter viable a long range single-target weapon in WvW. And also Warhorn development should have taken into account player feedback, because it turned out to be a really clunky and ineffective weapon to use for an expansion that wasn’t cheap at all.
The trait lines needed to be split in offensive-defensive-support branches instead of being all mostly support and defensive.
Then when Anet nerfed cantrip might for daggers they removed the viability of the fire line for staff users reducing again build variety to the bare minimum.
And I’m not talking here about the stability changes that had disastrous consequences on WvW. I often lost my 8 stacks of Stability from Armor of earth in under 1 seconds after that changes! Why would you do something like this just for PvP when it ruins other game modes?
But then we can go back in time and think about when it was possible to move around Eternal Battleground with Ride the Lightning without having to wait near 1 minute every time we used it, or how we could keep on casting healing, utility and elite skills while in mist form. When that last one was removed it took a year for Anet to realize the elementalist needed more survivability. However a number change will never be as interesting as being able to cast a skill while in mist form.
So overall it’s a series of very-small bad decisions taken without consideration for certain game modes or user feedback that brought us where we are today: where almost every topic in the Ele forum is addressing problems and issues with gameplay, skill-balance, useless skills, weapons or traits and the lack of build variety.
I don’t know how things got there, because 2 years ago Anet was really on the right track.
Perhaps it was the Chinese release and free2play business model that derailed the game from it’s initially intended goals.
I would gladly come back if all these little changes were reverted.
I did the same about 6 weeks ago. I’ll be back when SAB and the WvW overhaul is out, if they also make Tempest fun to play.
At the moment I play more casual games like Rocket League. I liked the FF14 free trial but I don’t have the time to justify a monthly fee.
GvG, GvG, GvG, GvG… and SAB too.
Wow, things have got to be dramatic. I left the game as did 90% of my friends after HoT since so many things felt wrong with HoT… and now they are restructuring the top of the company.
Well they finally woke up for sure.
Maybe I’ll come back when the new WvW stuff is out then if they can fix the terrible skill balance and lack of build diversity as well.
You guys — SAB is coming back. Colin said it. It’s true. This is positive and definite and no I don’t have a date and I know you’d like to have one but that’s not possible but… it’s coming back. Posts that proclaim it’s not coming are not just wrong — they’re dead wrong. Posts that express upset about the coin — while I understand them — will be moot when SAB returns. Which will happen.
All I can say is keep your chin up, because it’s going to happen.
Even if SAB is not coming back any time soon could you please ask the team to add Bauble Bubbles and Baubles to the wallet so I can clear some inventory space?
Well this thread is quiet again.
I left the game because of the amateurish class balance in HoT and the lack of support for GvG and other competitive modes. I don’t know what happened, it’s like they have nobody left in their company with the competence to supervise skill balance and fix game-breaking issues in a timely fashion.

Gaile, thank you for your reply and please forgive our pessimistic attitude and often unjustified excess of cynicism. Guild Wars 2 has been and is still an amazing game, but many of the things that were dear to us were removed and we just would like to play them again for the sake of nostalgia. We’re not even asking for new SAB levels here, we just want to play what was already made, again.
That said you guys have an habit of having people working on stuff that apparently never see the light of day, which is why I recently lost hope.
For example WvW (was my favorite game mode but “moved on” about 1 month ago):
Over 2 years ago Devon Carter said this about the WvW Orbs (direct quote):
“We really want to bring back the orbs in some form or another, but it is a complicated thing and so there is no timeline, nor are there specifics as to what form they would take when they return. We have top people working on it! But I can’t give you anything more than that, as there is nothing more to give.”
Now what are we suppose to think when you guys have “top people” working on stuff we never see? You also promised borderlands rotations when HoT would come out but then that was delayed and it looks like it’s never going to happen as we’re stuck with many huge empty borderland maps that could hold 10 times the whole WvW population.
If you would just do like other companies do, like release screenshots of what you are working on with SAB it would go a HUGE way into comforting the community and stimulating positive and more constructive communications.
Thanks again,
I’ve learned to be patient, moved on, and will be back when SAB and WvW overhaul are released. Sorry again if I was in any way responsible for you having to reply.
Are you guys still arguing with the OP?….let it go..he clearly doesn’t understand or simply doesn’t want to understand
Says the fella who begged Anet not to nerf Turret Engies……
So on topic what do you think could be done to get the rest of the classes in the meta?
When anet nerfed the turret engies….it’s when the game started to crumble, it was the time forum rants won and that sent a clear message to people…
If you whine enough, make enough of a scene with strawman evidence and exaggerations…you can get what you want from the devs aka more nerfs for enemies and more buffs for yourself
I was against nerf to turret engies because I knew it would encourage people to whine even harder on the forum, the devs ruined the game by listening to rants
The build had clear disadvantages and had counterplay….more than current powercreep
You’re right.
That coincides with the moment when they decided to change the trait system and remove the stats from trait lines while presenting it as an “improvement”. It’s been nothing but a disaster for build variety and I told them it would be on the first day. They replied to me that it was “too soon to tell”. Well maybe we should be working at Anet because clearly many of us knew better than some of their devs and could see when a bad decision was being made.
Its like an eternal beta-test where things almost always get worse.
Ele isn’t in “trash” tier, it’s in “boring” tier.
What was fun about the class has been completely destroyed or removed from the game. It was an amazing class to play the first year and a half the game was out.
Build variety is just gone. If you’re new to the game maybe you don’t realize it, but if have played it since the beginning you cant help but notice how lame playing elementalist has become.
Ok back to some other game.
This debacle and the mention of skins in other posts got me thinking about the possibility of skill skins. Imagine if you could apply a skin to your fireball..
No, please, no. They’ll gut our graphics and then charge us to get something decent back..
I had that thought as I was writing it.. but I think (or hope) that community pressure would protect against that kind of blatant money grubbing. It seems a shame not to mention ideas for fear of them being misused.
Community pressure? This thread has 900 posts in it divided in 18 pages, if this ain’t community pressure I don’t know what is, and yet there is absolutely no response from Anet.
Well SAB thread has over 100k views and Anet didn’t reply in over a year.
I don’t know why you guys still believe them after all that time. I reach my peak of cynicism like 1 months ago when hey said “later this year” and I’m glad I did.
Be realistic:
They said SAB is coming back over a year ago: Not true
They said Orbs in WvW were coming back 2 years ago: Not true
CDI thread: of all the suggestions for SMC fights they decided to not do any of them and added a stealth fountain… Yeah, takes like 1 hour to program. Always the cheap way out which turns out to be completely uninstering.
WvW Overhaul: it’s probably going to be like the Siege disabler and the 3 tags color, a tiny bit of nothingness it took 1 programmer 1 day to do. You can expect 1 thing for sure, it’s going to be tied to more gem store kitten because the game is now free to play (that’s the main reason why everything is turning to kitten with the game in the first place and all the rewards were nerfed to oblivion).
They promise random kitten just so that people keep buying kittenty wings and buying gems for legendaries while waiting instead of buying other games and moving on.
At best they’ll merge servers like EotM to hide the fact that 90% of the players left the game already from the new F2P crowd.
They haven’t even finished HoT yet and it’s been released like 4 months ago. Colin said this summer patch is for PvE HoT map fixes cause people don’t play them. WvW Overhaul is probably on the backburner again as usual.
I’ll be back when the complete WvW/Class Balance/SAB/GvG overhaul is released along with new PvP maps and dungeons… Which means probably never.
I left the game because I’ve been waiting for 2 years for Anet to do something like this. either their team is too small or they’re just too lazy to do anything.
The moment EotM was made its implementation was wrong. Now that they have 4 WvW maps they should have made a system with these different maps in WvW with a server merge to compensate for 80% of the population leaving the game. What’s the point of having EotM for full queues when all the servers except T1 are mostly empty? Or better question: What’s the point of having a quantity of maps able to support 10000+ players when about 500 people play WvW at peak times? Just seems like WvW is handled by inexperienced programmers when you compare it to games like TESO where the amount of server changes each months to accommodate to the previous month’s population.
I’ll come back in a year when they release their overhaul, if they don’t mess it up. I’ve invested so much in this game I really hope Anet can bring WvW up a notch one day and convince me to come back. Until then I’ll keep watch to see if they ever do something positive.
Reasons why I left the game, mostly in order of importance:
- 75% of my friends already left
- WvW is on life-support, population is critical, GvG guilds left the game anyway
- SAB is never coming back, they just said that to calm people
- PvP balance is a train wreck. Ever since the new trait system there is no build variety
- New professions design was rushed, tempest warhorn is a total letdown
- HoT didn’t have enough new things, was unfinished and wasn’t worth the price tag
- Game turned into grind
- Raids aren’t what we hoped for
- Dungeons are dead because of the lack of rewards
- Fractals still have no ladder and everyone just do swamp to get rid of it
- Visual downgrade of visual effects, Anet breaking things that worked fine
Basically I think the devs or management are mostly focused on the F2p players on the Asian market buying skins on the gem store and aren’t investing or passionate enough about their game to make it as good as it can potentially be.
Used to be the best MMO before WvW went to heaven.
Anyway in the beginning there was GW2 (great MMO). Then came along TESO (average MMO). Then what happened is that TESO really improved over the years while GW2 really deteriorated.
We’re at a point where TESO might be the best MMO currently available just because of the steady support it is receiving. It would say it’s at least as good as GW2, it does many things better. With Guild Wars 2 it seems they are just rushing things out and milking the brand while investing the minimum and not listening to the community.
for me its
1. GW2 : Beautiful, stable, power cap, no sub, actively developed, large, good mechanics that avoid many of the social issues in other mmo (mob tagging, power, geardrama). WVW needs fixed.
2. ESO (similar, but engine performance needs a lot of work, and once you have done the questlines you wont go back, some power issues)
Well they just released Direct X update and 64bit is on the way (already out on Mac).
We told them in the beta weekends like over half a year ago.
Just give up they don’t have a WvW development team, or they’re just not listening. Either way nothing is being done. They can’t even make a WvW map background that doesn’t look like it’s been made in MSPaint and it takes months if not years to fix the tiniest of bugs (like Ice Spike not working with quickness since HoT).
They throw false rumors around, like the “Orb coming back”, “WvW overhaul” or “SAB coming back” just so that people don’t quit.
Check out these patch notes:
http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/245011/
That’s the difference with a company really supporting their game and trying to make significant improvements. Now I’m not saying ESO is a better game, it’s about the same as GW2, but the support is light years ahead. DirectX update, Mac 64bit client and opengl update, changes in all game modes, complete rebalance, new content and the list goes on and on and it covers everything.

I didn’t leave the game because of how it looked. I would have liked to be able to turn up the graphics on Mac without the game crashing every 15 minutes in WvW however.
I left the game because of how disappointing I was by HoT. In my opinion HoT lacks endgame content, it feels like they haven’t finished it and compensated by making everything a terrible grind. All the gold I had saved for a new legendary turned out to be useless, Tempest elite spec turned out as boring to play as I had anticipated and WvW, the only true endgame at the moment, is in a terrible state.
I’m looking into getting TESO on my PS4 and transferring my character, but it’s expensive atm and I don’t wanna buy that game twice (and all the expansions + horse) unless its a good deal.
Short answer is: probably not.
Last time they discussed the subject they went on about how WvW having good rewards would result in people buying less glider skins. Well, that’s not really what they said but it’s the truth.
They said something like they have to be careful for WvW not to be “too rewarding”, they “feel it’s in a good place” and will “just be making tiny changes to game mechanics like the siege disabler and golem event”.
The way I interpreted this is: No hope left, better to leave the game. I mean at this point even ESO’s AvA is starting to look more interesting:

In order to show my point I’ve screened LFG tool with World events and fractal department
1. Is 1 gold that much for 15 20 30 minutes run ?
2. How about tokens getting skins now is barely possible …..OH charge me 40 euro more !!!! to be able to buy skins from cash shop …. Yes HOT I’m looking at ya ….
3.Why not add same daily system for dungeons and return to old 1 gold per path reward?
4. This will force people into doing dungeons exploring them especially if the will be daily for example doing arch with extra 1 gold reward extra 50 or 100 tokens and chance to get skin box …
Leave you constructive POV (Point of view) down bellow …
I personally think Dungeons reward should be increased so that community will get involved in it, this will also diversify content ……because doing Fractal all day is incredible dumb and boring also will be great to see similar daily for dungeons as we have for fractals now ..
If I was selling a MMO game and I would see an empty LFG in it, I would freak out completely. This is really not a good sign for a MMO when nobody is playing the instanced content.
The concept of the Orbs capture the flag type of mechanic was amazing.
The only problem was the bugs and the PPT reward that had to be fine-tuned.
It was promised to come back, but like SAB it will never do, was just a false promise.
If you think ele is op then you haven’t played one since it got gutted
I spared myself the pain of watching my class get destroyed (been playing since launch, and it’s just sad to see how boring and unrewarding playing ele has become) and got myself a PS4 with a handful of games. Good decision
On Launch ele was about huge damage while being squishy but mobile. It was so much fun to play and nobody were complaining about the class being OP, cause thieves could just 1-shot us and it was part of the deal. You could even play zerk d/d ele in the middle of a blob fight back then and zoom across the map with RTL on a low cooldown.
What they’ve done with the class since then is a train wreck. They nerfed ele damage and buffed everyone else to a point where there is no advantage to playing a class with no armor/hp and longer cooldown/cast time.
Tempest was rushed out anyway and just not fun to play. Compared to how the game was before it’s just not fun anymore to play elementalist.
I think they had an amazing team making an amazing game, and then a team of less competent people coming in and ruining it.
“We are able to talk about the WvW resurgence update earlier than we thought. "
We’ve been talking for years about the issues, can we just get to the part where something is actually done? Instead of talking about talking.
Wrote a novel worth of complaints of the lack of counterplay in this game, how unblockable should not = un-reflectable or un-destroyable, some skills like mirror blade shouldn’t be unblockable, condi application is way over the top, spam spam spam, spectral armor was balanced at 60s cooldown with no internal CD to scale with foes, blah blah blah, why is phoenix unblockable, BLAH BLAH, return of the evade spam thieves, spam spam, mesmer getting a new shatter to reset skills was extremely stupid to create for counterplay, blah blah, etc.
I’ll just leave this here.
This is the kind of crap that causes this game to not be esports – game modes and leaderboards aside. Who the kitten wants to watch this? Viewers don’t even know WTF is going on in fights. There’s so much SPAM in this game now. It goes for every class.
Yes, it’s a golem. Cry to someone else if you don’t get the point.
This is what people actually enjoy watching. No spam + counterplay is clear.
(wtf is with the spaces?)
Even people who don’t play the game can understand most of what’s going on AND there are clutch moments. Exciting. Exciting because there’s no SPAM.
I can’t believe how BAD the devs are at balancing this game. This game will go down in history for having the highest failed potential.
Passives and on crit junk has to go. Sigils that apply a new condition for no reason other than crit shouldn’t exist. For example: Sigil of Torment should not apply torment on critical hit for no reason. Instead, make it so that any skill that applies torment applies 1 extra stack on critical hit. This is balanced.
What is a balanced passive? Endure Pain at 25% health is balanced. You can land a burst to kill them before the 25% health proc and they are susceptible to CC and conditions.
What isn’t a balanced passive? Soothing Bastion
Basically invulnerability with health regen. Just WTF is supposed to be the counterplay to this?Unblockable attacks? Lol K.Don’t agree? Good. Keep arguing badly and sewer this game some more.
This game was more balanced at release. Over the years: We’ll take a few seconds off this skill for no reason… increase this skill a little bit… NERF PISTOL WHIP!… let’s add some more ways to gain quickness… OMFG QUICKNESS OP REMOVE ITS FUNCTION FROM EVERYTHING!… let’s not buff warrior and guardian mace autos because we don’t wanna… OMG MAKE CONDIS STACK… shave the coni duration on this by 1s cause just cause… hmm maybe make this unblockable… REMOVE AMULETS!!!!
… add this on crit passive here… maybe make an evade everything at 25% health here… GIVE NECRO BOON CORRUPT ON EVERYTHING!!!!!!! :@ :@… etc
Dude, we’ve been repeating this for a year. You’re 100% right, but it’s their game and they can’t figure this out. They new people they have love condi spam, cc lockdown and passive abilities. They really don’t seem to care as everything is always getting worse, and they obviously don’t seem to care about the point of view that skillful play should win, not builds/gear/elite.
I am really curious.
- Why did we get a buff to melee autoattacks?
- Why is our lack of group support not adressed?
- Why do Impairing daggers still miss two out of three times?
- Do you think the acrobatics traitline is worth it now?
I really try to look behind the reason why they went that route.
Best regards!
Shino
Laziness and lack of imagination. By making the auto-attack your best skill they don’t have to spend the time and pay someone to balance all the other skills and fixing core class issues. As others have said, just press 1… until you get nerfed again in 3 months.
I was already destroying eles with my reaper before the epic ele nerf, and I suck at necro, so GG Anet ruining this game.
I’m pretty sure those eles couldn’t use DS or you weren’t condi/cele. Or they were just bad. Before the change I didn’t die to a necro once.
Anyways, never listen to anyone who tells you to use Ether Renewal, worst heal ele has.
There is no way you would not have lost to a reaper. You would have been frozen and nuked down, just like everyone else.
There is nothing easier than beating an ele if you are an ele main paying another class. On a necro Interrupt at the right moment, corrupt boons and burst condi at the right moment, and they’re stuck out of skill recharge with the condi doing the work as you mash all the keys not on cooldown.
Diamond skin was actually a pretty average trait that only worked in a super condi-heavy meta. Seriously any build with a little power would break through it.
Give it time guys, they’ve only tried to make it a good weapon for 2 years. Be patient, nothing is off the table I’m sure. By buffing 1 useless skill per 3 months in 2019 ele scepter will be viable, it’s just a matter of time.
I want the old game back, not the old borderlands.
I want to heal and use utilities in mist form again, I want to have points to spend in 5 trait lines that affect my stats, I wanna Ride the Lightning across EBG with the skill on a 12 second cooldown like it used to be, I want Meteornado back, I want SAB back…
There are so much things in this game that got removed, including the concept of build variety.
If the thief is just pressing 1-1-1-1-1-1 and you die, might I suggest some form of mobility and just putting some distance between you two?
Or just bursting down the very tiny 10k HP pool of the thief that has 0 sources of protection.
The ele has the same hp as the thief and less armor, no stealth, all attacks are slower and to pull off 7k dps is impossible because the class cannot sustain a dps amulet like the thief can. That is unless they pull off a crazy combo burst (but then its not sustained 7k dps like the thief and actually require might blasting and skill).
What is the purpose of precursor collections?

The purpose of collections is to kill the precursor trading market and make all the people that saved money in the original game either leave the game or be forced to grind for months.

This speaks for itself, now in the coming months you’ll probably see people rolling their mouse on their forehead with a necro (been done before) destroying eles in pvp but hey, game is “balanced”.
I was already destroying eles with my reaper before the epic ele nerf, and I suck at necro, so GG Anet ruining this game.
Thieves finally got a combo worthy of their skill level. lol Just joking here.
But seriously 1-1-1-1-1-1-1. Why try to pull off a complex combo when you can just play with 1 hand and win?
It’s like the new balance team has no clue that you’re supposed to balance according to a difficulty/reward ratio. You should win by pulling off a good combo, not pressing 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 like a thief or rolling your face on the keys like a necro.
I am guessing the original developers of the combat system moved on to better things and the people who came after were just not of the same talent.
Precisely that. Since many classes depended on the allocation of trait stats to stay alive (elementalist and the 3000 hp it gained from water line even with berserker amulet) when the new dev broke the old trait system and came up with an equal stats boost (not all stats were equal) then the balance became a train wreck.
I mean seriously they have been trying to fix that new trait system mess for how many months now? Build variety was just killed the day they started preventing people from getting some stats from trait lines and being able to add points in 5 lines.
They also broke the concept of adept/master/grandmaster traits, which was only there to reward you if you place more points in the same lines. But it wasn’t obligatory to max out 3 stats lines, you could instead play with 4 lines or 5 if you desired.
I know not everybody agree, but for me that is the turning point when the game went from being really good to a below average typical mmo. They also broke the unique build I was playing and perfected for almost a year on the day they implanted that and removed condi duration/boon duration from trait lines (a 4-lines build using hybrid power and condi duration).
It is also the reason why I stopped playing the game. This new Trait system, even if they manage to fix it in the coming year, is never gonna be as fun and varied as the old one.
good and skill-based class:

haha.
They make us wait months to the point where I actually leave the game and when I come back to see how things are going I see broken kitten like that from a balance patch lol.
Like seriously, quadruple epic face palm of death.
Thief doing 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 and hitting for 8-9k. Hahahahahahaha lol. Whatever.
You would be better to go back to elemental attunement with Arcana. At this point Tempest only has air overload going for it. Great design…
If you don’t want an instant gib, run something that isnt +0 toughness or vit? This time the burden of controlling the length of the fight is majorly on you, instead of hoping the other person hasnt turtleshelled their build.
lol have you even played thief? It is not like other classes. Sacrificing DPS for vitality or toughness is pointless when you are only delaying your death by a few more seconds. We don’t have the heals that eles and guards have. To survive we rely on evasion, stealth and mobility to not get hit. Then bursting down foe before they have a chance to hit back. Not getting hit is how we stay alive, building pointless defensive specs is how you get dead.
I have no other problems staying alive against other classes (except necro now even more OP too), but other thieves are now a problem due to the huge buff to dagger AA damage, because it is dealt in less than 2 seconds, which is easy for us thieves to pull off when used with Basilik Venom. So whoever gets first hit wins. BV + backstab + 11111 = dead. That can happen to ele’s and guards too btw.
To be clear: thief dagger AA is now grossly OP. I am a thief and I want it reverted back to what it was before. The QQ has already started (justifiably I would say) and aNet is undoubtedly going to nerf us somewhere else that we really do not want nerfed.
My fellow thieves who know the history should realize this and ask for it to be reverted as well.
I think they have new people balancing the game that have never played it (they’re probably just watching meta-battle and tournaments). I mean why would you allow 6k dps (more in PvE and WvW) from someone just pressing 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 unless your wishing this game to fail? It just makes no sense. They are promoting skill-less play instead of rewarding complex combos.
