You guys need to check this out, you all recall the little melee Asura Ranger clips, 6 of’em to be exact, well he just went ranged!

Though the ability has a facing requirement to land, if done at the right moment -try to catch the other guy in the heat of the moment so he misses it and keeps attacking- it is serious burst!

They really need to revisit the other races, and their abilities.

Pain inverter is only extremely good against noobs. What sane person would keep attacking with 3 stacks of confusion on? Against decent opponents you just prevent them from attacking you for 5 seconds (although that’s still pretty good).

I might add that all the characters I play are asura, just to keep the option open to use Pain Invertor.

It has more to do with the fact i’m a ranger, i imagine if I was a mesmer it wouldn’t be nearly as effective cause people are watching for confusion

The arch enemies of SBI are, and always will be, SoS and JQ. SoR is NOT the arch enemy of SBI, and it never will be. A lot of people I know joined SoR because they want to beat SoS and JQ.

Please don’t misunderstand, we want to win and we want to get to Tier 1, but only when the time is right. I personally don’t think we are ready for Tier 1 yet.

It’s good that you recognize that now and aren’t expecting to be competitive in Tier 1 right away. Don’t take this the wrong way but SoR isn’t quite there yet with regards to open field fighting to be a viable match for SoS and JQ. If I were ranking the skill levels as it stands now I’d have to give the edge to JQ. SoS zergs can be severely gashed by competant players but it’s like trying to empty the ocean with a bucket…you’re never gonna see the bottom. SoR is considerably lower on the scale right now and needs to do some work or face some rough times in Tier 1. I can’t stress enough that I’m not trying to start any drama, just making an observation after being in Tier 1 since release. If you go there now, with what you have, it’s going to get ugly.

The pic below is a perfect example. 20+ SoR vs 7 SBI players and the npcs. Not even very many upleveled SoR characters either and the Supervisor is already down. You just can’t allow yourselves to lose fights like these.

To be fair, that could of easily just been 4 mesmer’s fighting against ya ;o)

That’s not very nice. You are throwing a lot of hate towards an entire server of people because you are upset relatively small amount transferred from SBI. Even worse when everyone from SOR is sympathizing with your server and what it is going through because we have been there ourselves. Not only that, we aren’t pointing at the score board and bragging the way BG did for 2 months because we understand.

Try being respectful, because we are trying to be respectful towards you.

Well duh, that’s not the issue, Issue is catching the buggers.

Its a fine trait for Spiders, What most don’t understand is you can apply the cripple via the F2 ability and if you use the one that is Poison on the next 3 attacks, It applies Cripple on the next 3 attacks, same for the one that’s on the next 2 attacks and weakens, If you pick up the 50% duration talent you can make that cripple last basically almost 20 seconds from the Spider..By just swapping and applying your F2 each time over and over again.

However it is terrible for Wolves.

Yes Spirits are the biggie right now that need a complete overhaul in a design front followed by Pets and how they work.

Most of the Pets see little use, Pigs/Drakes (more to do bugs),Moa’s are all pretty much kitten.

The only reason you’re not becoming revealed is the fact that Walls can’t be damage with Weapons.

Its an inherent flaw they didn’t think of when they came up with the Revealed buff for Thieves.

Trying to act like its not an exploit is silly.

The Chill isn’t to bad on the Owl, but the Eagle is kitten in my opinion.

Honestly they need to do a pass on all pets right now, Some pets should be designed around Condition Damage vs pretty much all of them being designed around Power to some extent, even the ones with Condition Based Attacks.

the 350 Condition Bonus Talent doesn’t cut it as an improvement.

For example, the Devourer, no one uses those pets because they’re good damage, You use them because they’re ranged, There is very little reason to use them otherwise, They have mulitple condition attacks but even if ya pick up all the talents in the world to improve those conditions, their damage is subpar.

The Pigs for example would be a great candidate for pets to be designed around Conditions.

Generally speaking you don’t wanna go past 15 Points in Nature, Certain Power Builds work really well with 15 Points with nature, Generally Sword/Horn with Shortbow for example work well with that type of setup (Your pet ends up with close to 30 seconds of Fury/Swiftness which makes Dogs for example a pretty good filler on a DPS pet as Birds/Cats already crit a ton, though Jungle Stalker becomes viable with that setup as you can stack Might on him very quickly)

Anything past those 15 points though is pure Meh as the line is concerned, Its designed around Spirits, and Spirit currently are just awful all around.

The Last talent for example, Remove Blind/Poison on dodge every 10 seconds, Why get that vs Empathetic Bond which removes ALL Conditions every 10 seconds off of you. I notice you went Barkskin as well, Which while it is a great ability, It doesn’t compare to Empathetic Bond…

picking up some healing gear would allow you to also drop SoR and pick up Signet of the Wild instead.

If you’re wanting a More Power based build something like this would probably work better.

You’d end up using Knights Gear for it

You’d still be missing the Natural Healing Regen from Beastmaster line, But you could possibly get by with out it.

Personally though with a setup like that I’d run something similar to this though

Axe is a good Mid Range weapon and you could use Whirling Defense as an advantage for people who jump on ya.

I’ve been doing it for months. Shared it with a few friends. Didn’t see anything about it surface until we started forming groups and using it to cap. Never really saw it as an exploit though. Still don’t see it as one.

It allows you to CnD to your heart content with no reveal buff allowing you to stay perma stealth…Every other Object in the game would give you the reveal buff and make you noticed by people.

It’s a bloody exploit of a broken mechanic, You can sugar coat it all ya want.

Hi all.

I have taken every profession to lvl80 now apart from necro and ranger.

I do this mainly through Wv3 and have noticed a few things on my lvl50 ranger. The most glaring one is the total lack of stunbreakers or escapes in general.
On my mesmer i have tons of escapes and breakers, the same on my Ele.
My Thief (now deleted) never died unless to a zerg appearing from nowhere.
My warrior could also escape pretty easily if needed.
My guardian hasn’t got much in the way of blinks or mobility but he makes up for it with sheer tankyness and simply refusing to die.

On my 50 ranger im dead unless its a 1v1. All classes have the ability of chasing me down, and if they have CC i find myself justhaving to wait it out.

Are there any utilitys that i have missed… any blinks, stun breaks, invisibilty. Anything at all realy?
This isnt a QQ btw, i seriously want to know if im missing something here.
It just feels alien to have one or all of the above abilitys on all the other classes and then nothing on this one.

I must be missing something surely.

We have 2 good stun breakers, not really a problem, However far as escapes go, if you get jumped by a couple people, you’re pretty much screwed

Hmmm, from the conversations in this thread, I think i have my answer. The dead players were indeed TC. The stealthed thieves were likely using this trick to stay hidden within the tower. The rezzes weren’t fast and the first time I wasn’t even sure if he was rezzing at first. I’d glance at the corpse and see some red on the bar, then a little bit more, but still not sure if it was more health or just my imagination. Soon though you could tell he was gaining health.

Overall probably took around a minute or so to fully rez these guys.

As far as what skills I saw, I can’t answer that. I haven’t played a thief much and I’m not familiar with their skills. I don’t know exactly what Shadow Refuge is or what it looks like (But I’ll find out). I just know that it’s possible for thieves to stay stealthed for a long time. However i thought they would still take damage if you managed to blindly hit where they are standing.

I think i need to start playing my thief more and learn their mechanics better.

There is 4 of them sometimes 5 from the same guild…So if 2 of the baddies were dead, that left 2 or 3 using this bug to stay hidden while they ressed, Just swing randomally along the wall, Cause that’s where they’re usually at.

I’m sure you can’t CnD the air (stupid as it may sound) and bring the dead up. Especially when they’re being chased by OP’s zerg. If the zerg has chased them out, there would be no wall to CnD, and that from which to go stealth. Let’s say there were things like doe and grub that they can hit; but that would require them to CnD, go stealth for 3 seconds, and revive 2 seconds out of the 3 and rinse and repeat. But if you have a zerg throwing down AoEs on the dead body, relatively quickly, the said doe/grub would die—no way to CnD now. Yet their health bars are still going up? …frustratingly confusing, this whole business..haha I’d like to know this secret!

You don’t need a target, you just need to be near a targetable enemy wall, so yes they could actually CND the air and stay stealth.. All they’d have to do is whenever they got full init, is spam CND, and go back to ressing, you can perma keep it up.

The Zerg didn’t chase them out either, It was done inside a tower..

You don’t need to use Shadow Refuge, and you can stay perma stealthed doing it.

That video wasn’t 50 people
Most of the people in that video weren’t 80
Even still, a good group should be able to wipe a bad zerg

Paid Server transfer won’t fix the problem, It’ll just make already strong servers remain strong.

The only way to truly fix it would be to allow people to transfer to Red/Blue servers for free and require Green to be paid.

That makes no sense.

So if Server A is red now and drops 1 place to be green in a lower tier, it doesn’t mean that server A will still be winning that match…. They might as well still end up 3rd in that match up and then you’re still forcing people to PAY to transfer to that server, while the servers that are doing better are free…

Imo they should’ve implemented free transfers within the first 2 months of release already. This is way too late. There would be 68% less drama on the wvw forums if they actually did so.

Yes, if they drop to the next tier they might end up as green, As long as their numbers hold up and they won’t need any extra people..However if its stagnated like some of the Tiers, the Red/Blue people won’t ever be able to get enough to fight the Green person.

Paid Server transfer won’t fix the problem, It’ll just make already strong servers remain strong.

The only way to truly fix it would be to allow people to transfer to Red/Blue servers for free and require Green to be paid.

You mention PvE, as you should since EQ has always been known predominately as a PvE game….. PvE is what the term “carebear” refers to. It denotes the “let’s all get along” attitude of the cartoon characters. No one is saying EQ1 didn’t have the most epic PvE content ever; but aside form the small populace in that game that actually played on the PvP servers, PvE is what it was about. DAoC on the other hand was about the PvP, even the PvE was simply a means to improve your PvP game.

Either way, this discussion is in the WVW forum therefore based on DAoC’s RvR as stated by devs pre-realease even. They wanted to capture the spirit of RvR but have missed the mark in a few places which is what these players are pointing out to them.

For the record, I have nothing against EQ1….. despised EQ2, though (another cna of worms there), it was a great game, but it’s main focus never was the PvP.

Being a PvE game is besides the point because EQ1 had the best PvP rules on two of its servers, Rallos Zek, and Sullon Zek, which had far better PvP than any game since. And it was real hardcore PvP, not the carebear stuff that has come since, which began with DAoC. It kills me that a PvE game got PvP right, but a PvP game can’t get it right.

I’m just an old PvP gamer who misses the good old days, of real hardcore, not this made up, fake belief system that running in a group in DAoC, or any other game since is hardcore, when it isn’t.

If they don’t add a major penalty for death, the reward system for this game, exactly like DAoC is nothing but a grind fest that rewards time played, above everything else.

DAOC had Andred and Mordred, basically the Rallos Zek servers of EQ

The whole hardcore gamer thing is quite hilarious though, because PvP in EQ was pretty kittenin awful all around, So imitating it in anyway in regards to PvP is rather silly.

I mean Rallos Zek was basically a poor mans version of UO, which was even more hardcore then it, You didn’t just lose your coin, but people could loot everything off your body, Hell not only that, they could break into your house and steal all your crap as well.

People talk about DAOC because it quite frankly had the best PvP to date, the silly rule set for Rallos zek didn’t make it a good PvP game, but DAOC’s rule set ended up making the most skilled and frankly balanced PvP to exist to date…Its why these games are trying to copy DAOC now, because it will always be considered the best.

I put Rallos Zek below UO, hell…I put it below Shadowbane.

Also DAOC’s realm rank system didn’t reward time played, it rewarded efficiency in killing and not dying. Over time you could get high realm rank, However you got it much faster by actually being good.

I’m a former DAoC player and I left it because of the additional grind added by RR in order to stay competitive.

The last thing I want to see is another grind just to stay competitive. WvWvW will need an influx of new players and the ability to retain casual players that feel they can at least compete without a whole new layer of grind. Adding anything that jeopardizes this risks ruining the WvWvW environment as a whole.

Hopefully this gets hot fixed, But you can stay perma stealthed, basically forever until the enemy leaves and then take the tower/keep doing it.

Just hit the wall under targeted with cloak and dagger with the right talents, It won’t even give you revealed debuff…so you can spam it long as you have the init.

This is great, till you realize you could farm Shelks underwater which don’t stealth and you can 3 shot…to get the exact same thing..

You can do it in FrostGorge as well, which is where I do it when Vials of Powerful Bloods prices go up (bots kill this sort of arming)
