Natures Ninja and Pain Inverter – Ranger PvP movies
http://www.twitch.tv/xsorovos
Couple people kept being annoyed I released these videos using PI, so decided to switch it up and not use PI in the entire video….changed some pets around as well for S/G
To be honest, Nerva is pretty much right..other then running around Solo (even then other classes can do it better cause they can escape if need be), pretty much every class surpasses in World vs World…
You can make the Ranger work, but it is the weakest of all the Classes in the game right now.
I’ll be honest with ya as well, I don’t think it’ll be fixed anytime soon…I mean if ya look at the changes Anet has done with the ranger, while they’ve been alright changes…The class itself is still so far down the bottom its silly…Countless useless Talents, Pigeonholed abilities (that only work with the talents), Some Useless Pets, And Entire Line of abilities and a Tree that is just crap (Spirits, and they’ve done little or nothing to change them, I mean..Look at the 2 changes the Spirits have gotten, and that can pretty much sum up they have zero clue what is wrong with the class)
I mean..in comparison to the other classes, it is poorly put together……and it won’t change anytime soon, So if you’re expecting Anet to come in and make a drastic overhaul of the class, You’re pretty much screwed…This class will not receive a major update…
And btw, in any other game, stealth has a movement speed penalty
Wow, really? What game?
The list is long, let’s say DAoC, WAR, and yes WoW of course.
Also stealth isn’t perfect “invisibility” there, you still have a chance to spot a stealthed char, there are tools to reveal a stealthed enemy, damage breaks stealth, and usually you cannot go back to stealth once in combat (there are exceptions but few and with long cooldowns).
And then comes GW2, which was even advertised as a game without perma-stealth classes, and yet introduces the best “stealth” (aka “invisibility”) I’ve ever seen since playing MMOs for 15 years.
On top of that, we get a graphic engine with bad culling mechanics, allowing them to even attack while still being invisible. OMG!
Question: There is a trait to increase stealthed speed by 50%, does this really make invisible thieves move faster than a visible char with 33% haste?
Am I the only one who thinks stealth is broken in GW2?
heh, That’s because being able to stealth in combat is always broken and frankly overpowered.
It allows you to escape every fight that goes bad for you.
Hell Rift had that issue with Rogues, they gave them a short cooldown escape ability that just allow them to escape constantly, but even it longer then the low cooldowns you got in this game.
I just love bow/pet classes – my Squig Herder in the Warhammer Online was my most likely class (even when he was nerfed like a peice of… you know)
And there is no analogues over Ranger: Warrior with bow looks ugly. Thief? Maybe, but…
So, I playing ranger sometimes, anyway
hehe, I loved my Squig Herder in WAR.
Remember the Morale 3 Ability that increased the Squig Herder Pet to massive size and caused him to kill people.
I use to watch my Spiked Squig kill people in like 5 seconds…was so funny..
I don’t believe anyone defending Rangers ever said they didn’t have problems, They clearly do….Spirits for example are just frankly a broken mess that needs to be changed.
Some of the pets need a rework in my opinion to make them usable.
Rangers are probably the class that is most worst off in the game right now as well.
However with that said, The Ranger isn’t a horrible class, Nor is it unplayable in any regard.
You can absolutely wreck people 1v1 on a Ranger… You can sorta Zerg Surf with the class…..
Its no on the level that a lot of people are complaining about, Some people just cry constantly that their pet is always dying….My pet doesn’t always die, I can keep him alive fairly often….which makes me believe they’re not managing their pet very well.
Lets face it though, some people will have that trouble, and they honestly should of rolled a Thief or Warrior if they really wanted to use a Bow.
If you play a Ranger, you’re playing the Pet class of the game, you’re going to have to manage that class, If you want to use a Bow, you have 3 Classes to pick from, so decide if you want to deal with a Pet or not.
I’m assuming you’re wanting to Zerg Surf in WvW if you’re wanting to use Longbow on the ranger, in which case..Pick a Rifle Warrior….We have nothing that remotely compares to Killshot or the Rifle line warriors have in regards to loading up on full berserker gear and going to town. The Warrior can even use Great Sword and do quite well compared to us in melee thanks to Endure Pain.
Now with that said, I can’t tell you the last time i’ve lost to a Warrior 1v1 in World vs World….My Ranger with the build I use absolutely just stomps on them.
2v1 one yea..I can easily die to a warrior who catches me with 100b’s, However other then that I simply don’t die to them….They don’t have nearly enough condition removal to fight against me, and I can pretty much dodge all their burst whenever its up, and it’s very easy to spot.
Now granted like someone stated early in this thread, I’m running Pain Inverter….i could easily switch to Sharpening Stone and run my more offensive set and stomp on them just the same..
all PI allows me to do is take 2v1 better, 1v1 They’re kind of comparable…. I’d say on Average I’ll get about 5 hits of Confusion on someone, which will be around 5k Damage, SS will do around that same amount in comparison with bleeds.
But my advice is still choose Warrior, They are a better designed class, and they have more options available to them then us.
Difference between DAOC Zergs and GW2 Zergs is this..
in DAOC, Zergs weren’t the biggest fish in the pond, in GW2 they are..
In DAOC You could have the biggest zerg in the world, But if you weren’t on your toes you could be killed in seconds… and when moving your force across the map to attack keeps/towers you and your zerg had to watch for that sort of thing, If you saw another small man running around, You just didn’t go off chasing them cause that could mean you could instantly be hit from another direction by a zerg and wiped in seconds… Zergs tended to be slow as well, Cause you didn’t want to get caught off guard and you certainly didn’t want break into smaller groups and be picked off.
GW2, you basically mass up and run from keep to keep… I mean its kind of similar to Warhammer Online in that regard, but again..WAR was just like DAOC…just cause you were in a zerg didn’t mean you couldn’t be killed in seconds by a bunch of Sorcs or Bright Wizards in a bomb group.
This is an old video i was in back in the day, the quality is bad, but you can see how badly we’d destroy zergs in Warhammer….even PRX had to watch themselves..
I don’t think the guard thing is an exploit, Since they changed it to do that in a patch where they said they were improving Shouts.
Wait…You think the Jaguar isn’t useful already?
Chomp Works, we ended up testing it a while back.
It will only go off though if the pet is like under a certain % of life.
Giving everyone In combat Res was always a bad decision…
Even in Games like DAOC were you could keep ressing in combat, they gave you a massive penalty for being ressed…..
They also didn’t let any random person do it either..
Things like Downstate, AoE Caps, Nerfs to AoE damage, Narrow Maps is why you have such a prevalence of zergs in this game
Its also why 10+ year old games like DAOC are still superior vastly to the crap released today.
Its a ton worse, when I get off Jury Duty tomorrow i’m going to make a video of it to just Embarrass Anet….Seems that’s all that really works anymore…
People vanishing in and out, monsters vanishing in and out… This is happening in PvP and PVE
This made this issue worse, I thought it might be an improvement over the November test, but it’s not..It’s the same mess that test was…
I think i’m going to have to do a Youtube video of this in the end..
Anet just needs to make the effort and redesign Spirits, because the current Design just isn’t worth while.
Ahh Rangers with bears…
Nothing says free kill more then that…
Hahah that comment made me laugh.. then you haven’t met any good rangers in WvW yet
To the original poster that was a nice video and nice build^.^ and a nice show off.
Just remember some day you will eventually run into somebody that will counter that build. That is the wonderful thing about WvW! and I’m happy to see that you have found use of sigil of fire xDBtw Gza, now i can see you are playing against Dzagonur, which server are you playing on?
I’ve killed countless …and I mean countless Rangers…..and I can say 100% that any Ranger running a Bear in World vs World is going to be an easy kill.
The only benefit to running Bear is if they’re running something like Signet of the Stone and Protect Me for the damage absorb..however…..This still comes down to them using a Bear…Which is absolutely awful damage wise…
If you’re going to run any type of pet that’s not a Bird or Cat, it better be a Dog.
If Push came to shove i’d use the Toughness/Vitality/Condition Damage jewelry on my Ranger…However i dislike they add Precision to it..Such a wasted stat on my build (I run full Apothecary or Reyna’s with Apothecary)
You basically got the Ranger Treatment from Beta, for the record, Our Spirits are still completely unusable in every regard…even after 3 months ago when the head dev Jon Sharp came to our forum and said Spirits were bad and needed to be changed.
The only change they ended up receiving…. was buffing a talent that increases their chance to go off from 30% to 50%…. thing is..they still have like a 10 second ICD…..
I’d say farm T6 materials but they’re dropping fast in price.
yea, 6×6 = 36….would i save a lot by getting it crafted?
I thought ya meant per piece.
As for price..
Karka shells will be a little over 2 gold for 30
Then ya have the Orbs…
So 6 Gold is probably about right
I went and looked it up, most of the gear is 6 or so gold or less
Unless you’re trying to buy the Jewelry which is like 60 gold
or Destroyers Version of it (don’t bother, its just a skin)
If you’re doing a Power build with Clerics you gotta have Warhorn off hand for Fury.
Is it 30 gold now?
wtf?
It shouldn’t be costing nearly that much.
You buy the materials and mail it to me i’ll make it for ya
this stuff is soooo expensive =( is there somewhere in PVE i can get THC gear?
Not that i know of.
Just use the Armor/Weapons and use Shamans Jewelry instead.
It’ll cut down on the price
Chopps you being a little hostile today, whats up?
I find that the Drake pets are generally pretty bad in PvP, the F2 just takes to long to cast.
However i can see them being pretty good for comboing in groups now.
Color me nonplussed.
Do you happen to know for certain whether compassion training even works?
Yes it works
You got to be in combat for it to work though, It will work on Natural Healing from the BM line.
Our Healing Power works on Signet of the Wild.
It should work on other things pet related as well.
Yea its just the Drake Pet that’s doing it, that’s why…
No matter if ya change weapons only the Condition Portion of the attack will change on the Drake, for everyone else it changes.
Well, when I swap weapon sets, which have different amounts of +healing on them, the tooltips for the fern hound regen and the moa AoE heal adjust their numbers accordingly.
In other words, it’s still the same.
Were you by chance doing it in combat with the compassion talent?
edit
Blah I just checked it again and now its not… wtf..
Actually, its Weird, when I do it on the Drake pet, only the condition damage changes (not the actual damage stat)
While on the Fern Pet it changes
weird

Ahh Rangers with bears…
Nothing says free kill more then that…
heh….Guys you’re not getting it
There was this Animation Bug with F2 Pet abilities that needed to be fixed….
You of all people should know Xsorsus. Test it yourself instead of making Pain Inverter Volume 12 or whatever you’re on. The cooldown does NOT pause on swap like you guys are trying to say. Rather, it’s a full 45 seconds like it’s supposed to be (whether or not you swap).
Rofl, i see that joke went over your head ;o)
I just checked it, and I’m not seeing a change based on any stats on my gear…if I remove my gear, and even switch pets, the Stats remain the same…
so i’m 100% sure its based on their stats now.
No. Their tooltips are still based off of the ranger’s stats. I just checked.
you sure, cause I swear i just checked it, i’ll check again
Their Tooltips are now based of their stats and no longer the Rangers, so you can now tell accurately whats going on.
heh….Guys you’re not getting it
There was this Animation Bug with F2 Pet abilities that needed to be fixed….
I watched mine crit a mob for 5k
pretty hilarious
The cooldowns on our pets abilities no long reset when ya swap pets.
Which is a fairly big nerf to the Ranger class if its intended, but since it wasn’t listed in the Patch notes, the Ranger community would like to know.
I’m praying it’s just a bug. It wouldn’t make sense otherwise. Your weapons don’t share cooldown times on swap, so pets shouldn’t either. There’s already a pet swap cooldown in place, just like the weapon cooldown swap.
I’m sure its a bug like the SB animation was a bug grin
Frankly I’m not surprised. Didn’t seem right to have a long cooldown, like 40 seconds, reduced to 15 or 20 seconds (for each swap). Perhaps now I’ll look at those two traits in the Beastmaster tree with a bit more consideration.
I’m guessing this is true for the non-F2 abilities as well?
Has anyone tested the cooldown on other abilities when swapping pets? Specifically, the insta-knowckdown from the wolf?
I just died a little inside.
I’m guessing if the cooldown is nerfed on the F2s it’ll be the same on non-f2’s as well
Like i said, fairly huge nerf
My question is, Why haven’t Spirits been updated yet?
they’re still pretty awful and its been 3 months almost now since they stated they were being looked at
Yeap, its true
tested it as well
Huge nerf
Just tested this with my wolves in WvW the pet f2 ability no longer resets on pet swap. when i brought my first wolf out after 15 seconds the wolf still had 15 seconds CD on the howl. not sure if this is actually a bug fix, but it is definately not on the patch notes
Ohhhh if that’s the cast that’ll suck bad
That entangle change is a big ole buff…
If you’re running atleast 15 points in Nature, Warhorn is vital.
I’m not sure how good dagger is for power/crit build, for all I know it could actually do a lot of base damage.
I know its Conditions are excellent though.
If you want to fight P/D thieves, simply use Superior Rune of Melandru + the – 40% Condition Duration Food.
This will drop Conditions by 65%, most P/D Thieves tend to stack Condition Duration for their bleeds, and I find that its really all their damage..So if you hit them with that, They tend to have trouble with with damage to finish you off.
At that point all it takes is for them to screw up at least once and you can kill them..however they could just simply run away from you and really nothing you can do.
Or just wipe the bleeds with brown bear, signet of renewal, healing spring, or emphatic bond.
I generally run Empathic Bond and sometimes Healing Spring (but that’s more for the regen)
EB will take care whatever condition duration does not… Problem is you can’t just have EB and nothing else, because last thing you want is 8 stacks of bleed to run a good 8 seconds before they go off.
SoR is pretty awful, and it wastes a utility slot, I mean you can use it if you really don’t wanna use Lightning Reflex and don’t have EB but that’d be kind of bad even still.
Bears, I simply won’t use period…..In fact I can usually judge how easily i’m going to crush a ranger in PvP based on his pet.
if I see you running around in PvP with a Bear pet it tells me you don’t know how to manage your pet properly and you’re probably a Glass Cannon.

-65% Condi duration won’t do much to counter most p/d. p/d bleed thief will stack Superior Runes of Afflicted, Krait and Centuar for a total of +45% bleed duration. They will also use Rare Veggie Pizzas which will further increase condi duration by 40%. Also, most of us will be using Superior Sigil of Agony +10% bleed duration.
A whopping total of +95% bleed duration.
Want another twist? I don’t even use the runes mentioned above (I use rune of the adventurer), nor foods often (cause im cheap) and I still see rangers as free kills.
I’ve actually ran into some very long duration bleed builds that are actually countered by the setup I run.
What i’m thinking is happening is you have the 95% bleed duration Bleed, and then it applies my 65% Reduction..Instead of just canceling it out like Rare Veggie vs the Condition Reduction one.
So if you manage to get your bleed up to say, 8 Seconds
I’ll reduce its duration by 65%
Which will end up turning your 8 second bleed into I believe 3 seconds.
Hm, that makes sense. I didn’t think about it that way. If this is the case, the Runes of Melandru and food you have would mitigate the damage quite a bit considering original bleed duration is 4 seconds. Not sure if it really is too effective though.
What type of build do you use? Most rangers I come across and kill in wvw are kitten glass cannon longbow/shortbow spam. The ones I’ve had problems with stacked heal and were tanky but I would usually eventually kill them anyways.
healing/condition/toughness build.
I’m thinking that Condition Duration Reduction is more effective the more the person invests into Condition Duration.
I find that if I can keep the bleed stacks to around 3 stacks I can counter most of the damage of p/d Thieves with just my Health Regen.
Also remember I am Asura, so I have access to Pain Inverter.
You guys need to check this out, you all recall the little melee Asura Ranger clips, 6 of’em to be exact, well he just went ranged!
Though the ability has a facing requirement to land, if done at the right moment -try to catch the other guy in the heat of the moment so he misses it and keeps attacking- it is serious burst!
Nice video, it is fun to watch rangers owning people.
My only question is how will it effect your build in terms of PI getting a nerf.
If PI gets nerfed i’ll switch to a Power/Boon based build with Healing Power/power/toughness armor.
I’ve actually already been considering doing that, but I wanna see what next patch has first before I bother making another set.

Sword/Warhorn for Power Based Builds
Sword/Dagger for Condition Based Builds
Sword/Torch much better for condi builds.
I use Axe/Torch in my other weaponset
you can use Sword/Torch though if you prefer Shortbow.
I’ve put out multiple videos, see my Sig of my Ranger killing people in 1v1 and 1v2, Anything past that becomes difficult unless the people are just awful.
The best i’ve done is a 1v5 against a group on my Thief…..but I have to say they were quite possibly the worst players i’ve seen in an MMO to date…like worse then the Dumba Stealth Zergs on Merlin in DAOC..
Just awful…
But most classes won’t be able to do anything like a D/D ele, because D/D have pretty much the total package in regards to the class, They really don’t have much of a weakness….
That doesn’t mean other classes are just awful though, it just means that at present D/D Ele’s are a little overtuned compared to the other classes.
