This is a lie.
The only thing I ever get from anything in Southsun that is not a guaranteed drop is junk. Literally junk items. Nothing else. Karka shells only from veterans, who have them as guaranteed drops.
Nothing else ever drops from those things. No matter how high your mf is or how many you kill. I tried more than once making some hunting parties after the queen for karka shells. Killed countless young karka, veteran karka, skelk, reef riders and drakes.
If blood dropped like you say, it’ll be much cheaper.
But nothing. Nothing. Not even T5 blood. Just junk.
taps shoulder points at date of first post.
But they have them now (and WoW also have subscriptions + box-costs on top of that).
It is quite irrelevant that they didn’t have them before. They have them now, and have had them for years.
You claimed that they didn’t have them, which is clearly false.
They didn’t have them when I played them—which is clearly true. Notice the word “had” in my original post. I also noted that cash shops may have been added to WoW/WAR/Aion (although WAR apparently died in 2013, no surprise there).
Original post: “Dark Age of Camelot never had a gem store for over 10 years. I don’t think WoW, WAR, or Aion had gem stores either, but it’s been a while and they may have added them”
DAoC 2001-present- no cash shop
WoW 2004-2008 – no cash shop
WAR 2008-2009 – no cash shop
Aion 2009-2010 – no cash shopAt the end of the day, I’m not a huge fan of the cash shop. Everyone has their own opinion, though.
I used to be able to buy a lot of things for a lot less than today, does not mean any business in the world will start selling for that price again.
Understandable. However, there is always supply and demand, and if a business overprices its products, it can potentially lose customers. Mythic overpriced its Warhammer Online product, and customers did not care to spend money to beta-test an unfinished game.
In regards to cash shop vs monthly fee, I would much rather pay $15 a month and have access to all gem store content, than pay much more than $15 to have the same access. If everyone paid $15 a month, anet’s profits may not change that much. I don’t feel that $15 a month is a lot for a hobby, honestly. It’s usually less than a single weekend of drinking/partying.
There are others like yourself out there. Just not enough of them.

I still think the gem-to-gold and gold-to-gem conversion rates are absurd.
I honestly wouldn’t mind them having a $15/month fee to play and just get rid of the gem store altogether.
Can’t think of a single game that has a sub but not the equivalent of the gem store. Can you name some?
To fix this, they have to remove lv 80 armor drop from non-lvl 80 zones, so people can go in low level zones if they need low level material…
Do you know why they have so many lvl 80 drops in no 80 zones?
Money from selling space is most likely a very, very minor part of their overall income.
information source?
Anet will never give that out. But it is common sense. It is a finite item, new players were scared off by a horrible NPE, and most of the whales would have capped it already. These weekly sales would be the vast majority of their income.
In other words, “my argument is weak so I’ll make up unsubstantiated statements to bolster it. I will also make it stronger by declaring that ANet has little to lose. However I don’t have access to the relevant numbers so I’ll just use my biased opinions on the matter and call that common sense.”
In before I think other people do it so that justifies my doing something that I think others are doing.
I still base most of my characters in LA at Postern Ward because almost all the facilities, except the guild-related ones, are located there and because LA is in a fairly central location. The locations I visit the most are the Silverwastes (chest farm and defense/breach/VW/sometimes labyrinth) and Sparkfly Fen (Tequatl, twice an evening on different characters), and with guild discounts it only costs 3s to get to Camp Resolve and 2.3s to get to Splintered Coast.
The tip about PvP lobby is very helpful. I already knew you could get to LA for free by going to Heart of the Mists and using the Asura gate, but I didn’t know (not being a PvP enthusiast) that bank and TP are available there and that you can return to your previous location from the PvP lobby after doing your banking and merching.
Bank and tp where just added this fall to spvp.
Or stand in one of the spots where the traveling ice never hits, there’s at least two spots in front of the claw that I know of.
Karka, wp from la, teq wp from southsun gotten to from la, silverwastes go from assura home. Nowhere is it a lot of silver though, I think max is 4.5 one side of world to the other.
It’s probably deliberate to scatter people over different cities. Before this, almost everyone was in LA and the racial cities were deserted.
Now Charr’s and Norn’s capitals are deserted due to lack of events and living story…
Also they’re too far from the popular maps that it’ll cost more money to WP.
Why would you even think about paying to wp to a home city?
Really hope that more people read this. I was absolutely shocked when I went there yesterday and everything failed. Did not think that was possible after the zone has been out so long.
I just tried this for about 30-40 minutes with 300% MF and received:
2 potent bloods
7 karka shells
1 rareSorry but this is no where near as good as Silver Wastes. Not even close.
A necro’d post from two years ago no longer relevant? No way!
I really don’t enjoy dungeons but when I need to run them this pervasive toxicity the forums always talks about is not present. There are really crappy attitudes yes, but not often especially when you ignore speedrun group think.
Nah all whiners are equally precious an special.
Webster’s online dictionary is a big help.
Same ratio of exp whatever level you do it at. Do them whenever you want, the material rewards can be good (some tier mats are worth more than others) some not good at all.
Be warned that I have never gotten an exotic higher than lvl 76, no matter what level map or character (orr, frostgorge).
The question would be, how could they possibly find out you played his account to level him up. Sure they can see IP, but I’ve played GW2 at a friend’s house before, so it’s plausible that’s what took place.
The fact we discussed this on the forums may put you on some kind of list, however.
I think a big clue is the post in forums.
Whether they waste time and resources on it is another question. Still do at own risk knowing it is against the ToS.
I guess this thread just shows the old saying “one persons wine is anothers sour grapes.”
Blame bacteria.
She was a sociopath with a conscience
There’s no such thing as a sociopath with a conscience. If you have a conscience and are acting out, you’re not a sociopath, you’re just a ponce.
She woke [Mordremoth] up early to give the world a chance.
I thought it was just Mordremoth whispering in her mind constantly, though I admit I paid little attention to the justifications introduced in S2 since it was too late to fix things at that point.
Scarlet was good enough to get many knickers in a twist so win in that respect.
We didn’t hate scarlet because she was a villain, we hated her because she was a poorly-designed character.
as long as we are satisfied we can’t argue now can we.
Vistas unlocking new gliding challenge paths
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Maybe, in the POI video she needed to glide to something similar to a vista to unlock more gliding ability.
They always started there. At least I remember going there way too often.
Sometimes I think ANet shouldn’t have put in the gold to gems option. It seems to make some people feel entitled to free stuff.
Are there even any non subscription based MMOs that give away free bank and inventory slots? If there are MMOs that give away free bank slots, I would bet the people are paying a monthly subscription fee. It’s the subscription fee that allows those MMOs to give away stuff. It’s not reasonable to expect a game without a subscription fee to have the same features. One way or another, they have to have income.
Oh I am sorry. I did not know wanting space to cost a static amount of gold meant free. Next time I will check with you on whether gold is a real currency in the game or not, before I post.
The reason why bank and extra bag is behind gem store.
Gold is so much easier to gain nowadays than launch, but cost for gold convert to gem (that means getting gem store item for free) is increased a lot as well. Therefore, the longer the game life, the more expensive gold to gem cost, on the other hand, it is so much easier to pay cash to buy gem than getting it for free.
If bag and bank space become fixed gold cost, the longer a player stays, the easier they get the item for free. This is the reason why Astral said people are asking for free stuff.
Well he is completely wrong. Also, how much gold can you gain now, compared to 1 year ago? It is probably less.
Might look up what completely wrong means. When I started one gold was a good amount for an hour (personally). Now ten gold is fairly common in an hour.
Ok? That has absolutely no relevance to what I said. But nice one!
Shakes head walks away.

Like I said it isn’t going to be answered by forum users.
Won’t know until they tell us or release the exp and we find out ourselves. I am curious as well but it is not going to be answered by forum users.
Won’t get a direct answer.
I have npc sound off and turn it on for the stories. They are all annoying after a while.
Scarlet was good enough to get many knickers in a twist so win in that respect. She was a sociopath with a conscience, knew mordi could control the silvari and woke him up early to give the world a chance.
was she the greatest no, but for mmorpg good enough.
I agree with above that s1 was more attractive to me. With the addition that the lack of permanent content lead to living world instead of static world we have now.
Yes they will work.
Might want to wait, they probably (maybe will) be on special when the exp drops.
Both challenging to play, both have fairly different play style and ‘feel’.
Ele can give a ton more damage than mesmer though. Mesmer cannot be hit easily if played right.
Myself I love them both since they are a lot of fun.
everything but watchwork pick is visual preference only.
tools and bank spots are for me very important, mileage varies.
Watch YouTube run throughs, the only reason to buy is for the rewards, and if you don’t want Mawdrey or the ascended stats trinkets you got as rewards it is kind of silly to buy anything.
Wardrobe to change your look can be accessed anywhere from the characters tab.
If you have the skin unlocked, yes. From the bank you can access even the skins you don’t have.
Absolutely, for previews, can’t be used to change looks which was my point.

Maddoctor, if Linen and Wool are so easy to get, tell me why they cost way more than Iron, for example?
The numbers don’t lie. There is no reliable way to farm linen and wool. Karma forging and salvaging is both tedious and has a very poor return for the amounts of Karma you spend. Sure, you could argue there aren’t too many uses for Karma currently, as Obsidian shards are dropping more, but that doesn’t change the fact that the return is poor for how long it takes to get the karma.
I guess because those who use the karma conversion do it for themselves and not get extra to sell on the TP. That and the fact that not everyone knows about it.
I’d say moving around searching for iron ore nodes is also tedious and forces me to go to zones that have iron instead of playing where I want. I can get karma everywhere.
There are people with milions of karma, if they decided one day they could flood the TP with tailor materials, I guess they simply don’t care.
Pretty much this, if for some reason I need a quick couple of gold or I have some silk piled up I do a mats run. Otherwise I have more enjoyable things to do.
If I had to guess, any feature pack or fix will be included in or with the expansion when it’s released. Nothing else, as far as updates, will come about until then because it wouldn’t make any sense.
Heart of Thorns is the focus for now. Everything else is moot. This iddy-bitty seasonal event didn’t tell everyone that already?
Yeah the division of the ls into tiny pieces spread over a long time indicated they have only the release of the expansion in mind now.
Bloodtide coast light karma gloves, from directly below LA on west side heart.
But you can’t outright salvage karma gloves? You’d have to buy four and forge them right?
Yes, use WvW mystic forge. Pop right back to merchant.
As for Cotton, Linen and Wool? You can use karma to get those and you get enough karma playing in SW (if you don’t just chest farm) and I’m willing to bet the new zones will be packed full with events for even more karma income.
. . . I’m curious as to how? I know a couple quick ways to ensure Wool and Cotton, but Linen has been an odd one.
Bloodtide coast light karma gloves, from directly below LA on west side heart.
Sure in my ignorance I find that the supply was the problem. We where swimming in silk because we got it so easily. The recipes where created specifically to sop up all the tons of it. Adding additional sources would then just lead to increased requirements. If they wanted more damask they just need to drop how much base material is needed not increase supply of that base material.
When everyone has ascended armour sure.
The problem is when that happens, the price drop for Damask caused by less demand will be offset by less people farming cloth because it’s high in price at the moment.
Damask will only drop in price if Anet gave us a mean to reliably harvest cloth, like we can harvest wood and metal. For example being able to harvest flax, cotton, etc. from the ground and then craft it to bolts (because crafting into scraps makes no sense).
I am guaranteed silk from armour, can’t see what benefit those nodes would be.
And you’re guaranteed to get cloth armor drops every time you kill X monster?
That’s what I meant with “reliable”. Hoping for a cloth armor drop is not reliable. And it gets even worse when farming materials below your character level.
Over a days play yes I am absolutely guaranteed cloth drops.
You still don’t understand what “reliable” means, do you? Yeah, everything averages out in long term, but that’s not “reliable”.
Let’s say I want to farm 100 iron? I harvest the rich iron nodes for 50-60 and then normal nodes for the rest (at 3-4 per node). That takes me less than 30 minutes if I’m quick.
Let’s say I want to farm 100 silk? I kill mobs for thirty minutes and if I’m really, really lucky I have those 100 silk scraps. If not, I might have as little as 20.
Do I need to explain this further? Anything that is based on random drops is by definition not reliable.
Gl with your fixation.
A disco? Yeah it did. This happened to me right before Teq. It was awful.
Ah, but during the fight were you…

oh come now, it’s obvious people want
1. Mounts.
2. Capes
3. Land spears.
4. A bazillion new maps
5. Quaggan/Tengu/Kodan/Skritt/Hylek playable races
6. Raids.
7. An end to zerkers.(did I miss anything?)

Alright, so lets say that bag and bank-space starts costing gold instead of gems:
What should ArenaNet add to the store in order to counter the losses from no longer selling bank and bag space?
Tengu tonics.
Combat tonic that lasts longer than five minutes without an hour cool down may be interested.
What Donna Summers shows up in game?
Can anyone remember when the extra storage/inventory slots were for sale last time? I have been waiting for a long time :< Ended up buying a second account for my hoarding needs because it was cheaper than buying a storage tab!
Storage was on sale in the fall. Inventory not sure if it was also in the fall but it was on sale last spring.
