Rangers have been pretty heavily nerfed in the past though.

They used to have quickness on pet swap as a 5 point trait, a GM trait that transferred all conditions to pet every 10 secs, healing spring removed more conditions and lasted longer, and shortbow fired much faster and had a longer range, maybe others I forget now.

no problem with skyhammer the error is with you. it is a kittenin game and it is in a semi-casual game mode. there are just too much nerdrage. skyhammer is a joke and it’s a good one and if you have a team who is not kitten because of getting killed by some game mechanics and an enemy who has the same mentality it can be really fun and exciting. ofc now i gonna get trolled and hurr-durr cuz how noob i am since this is not semi casual because there is ladder etc etc… problem is that the ladder doesn’t mean anything and you are taking this kitten way more serious than you should.

You are right the map is a joke, but I guess we have a different sense of humour because I find it in quite bad taste.

Every class has a way to knock you off. Some enjoy shorter cooldowns or more total cooldowns than others. Some have more stability available than others..

I think you are trolling but….yes good point some classes have considerable more accesses to hard cc’s, stability, aoe cc’s, AI cc’s and on Skyhammer the power of those classes/builds is ramped up to the extreme because these skills now also instantly kill you- and some of them have a very low skill cap to use.

Controlling an enemy’s physical position instead of just their ability to position themselves is a mechanic that is not unique to Guild Wars 2, but does play a larger role in this game than many others of the same genre. Skyhammer is not the only example of this, it may just be the most well-known place to exploit such mechanics to one’s obvious advantage.

The trouble here is that there is no logical connection between the first and second sentence.

Yes GW2 has an awesome combat system that is very much about positioning and control, but that system doesn’t shine in Skyhammer, on the contrary, that stupid map limits the use of positioning because key control points are too small to out-position classes/builds with lots of cc/aoe/stability.

This game does not need less Skyhammer. It needs more. .

The image this brings to my mind is someone driving a stake through the heart of this poor game.

Without Skyhammer, what is sPvP? Boring.
.

Well the spvp forums would certainly be more boring without Skyhammer, but I can’t say I would miss skipping to a new server any time this map comes up in the rotation, and it would certainly increase my desire to do solo queue tourney….

I’m amazed that they took Capricorn out and left this abomination in.

Necro is not as good as I think it should be

Necro needs a way to be really tanky AND have massive damage AND has decent mobility/disengage skills.

Change “mobility/disengage” to “cc” and you pretty much just described a necro. They are not weak.

Necros aren’t tanky at all. Not at all. There is so much damage that blocks/invulns/evades are how you mitigate damage. Not life force. Those eviserates are going to melt through you whatever your health pool.

The myth of “condi bunkers” just because necro used to wear rabid amulet is what got necro 8 months of nerfs from the devs. It was nerfed 7 months after it stopped being a part of most successful rosters, or being powerful in solo queue.

A necro with rabids has the same armour as a guardian in zerker. There is no way a necro has even been considered tanky in the slightest. Even if you spec for tankiness you will die in no time at all in some 1v2 scenarios.

They have a lot of life and I know from experience, as would anyone, that it takes a long time to take them down. It is easier to hit them than most other classes, but they can take it, while melting lower hp classes.

They also have their neat tricks, like chain fear, fear when attacked etc- other classes have different tricks.

Maybe they aren’t as strong as meta warriors, dd eles, or engis- or maybe in the right hands they are. But weak? No way.

Spectate Mode should be removed from Hot-join

I really like how hotjoin is set up compared to battlegrounds in similar games, but I agree that there tends to be a lot of players using autobalance and spectate to get on the winning team, or sometimes just to troll.

It is still much better than the type of behaviour/balance you see in games like Neverwinter, but I don’t know if the benefits of spectator mode has outweigh the negatives.

For me its not a big deal, because if you play a lot then whether a few games are a steamroll or not doesn’t make much difference., also I go to tourney if I want a game with more emphasis on winning/competition- I do tend to get upset if there are 4vs5 etc in tourneys, but in hotjoin it doesn’t seem to matter that much.

Generally what I find is that the attitude of players is different in GW2 than in many other games, and apart from the angsty types and some hate whisperers, people seem to be in hotjoin just for the fun of it rather than grinding which also helps.

The Balance System in PVP is not up to my expectations

in PvP

Yasha.5963

I think hotjoin is one of the most amazing systems for pvp in any mmo I have played.

It is totally casual, and largely for practising and just having fun doing some pvp. It is up 24/7, everyone is the same level/gear, its really easy to meet people, if you have to pop out you can just leave and no one cares, the teams get auto balanced if someone new doesn’t come shortly which prevents one team from ever having more than one person short.

There are so many good things about it, I could go on, but I doubt many people have even enough concentration to read to this far.

Hotjoin is the most casual form of spvp in GFW2 and it is still more balanced than the pvp in any other mmo. Pretty amazing imo.

If you are getting all heated up about winning/losing it is time to play tourney.

An unranked (or hidden ranked) queue does all that and better (with the exception of leavers).

Let’s assume you’re the kind of player that does not wants to play ranked, or at times, is not in the mood to play a more competitive and stressful mode.

Want to play together with a friends? You can join the same server with your friend in hotjoin, but it’s troublesome to stay in the same team as they due to the requirements to choose a team and due to auto-balancing. The more friends you want to play with, the worse, as the server might either get full by then, or if your team picks an emptier server, no hotjoiner will last to face your premade team and there’s no matchmaking to try to match you with other premades. You either go ranked team queue or you don’t.
Want to learn proper PvP? Hotjoin is terrible at that because it teaches bad habits and has different rules that the queues. It’s decent if you just want to get a grasp of your profession, but after that, you must start competitively right on if you want to get familiarized by how pvp works.
Want to experiment new builds? Hotjoin might give you a vague idea about their potential, but builds must be truly optimized around how proper pvp works. You either test them for real in a ranked queue, or you can’t test them as much as you would need to.
Want to have a fair match? Casuals also care about that. But no such thing exists in hotjoin. Auto-balancing is very anti-climatic as well.

Hotjoin only makes sense in FPS games, due to the simplicity of their gameplay. Since I started playing LoL, I can’t imagine any serious pvp RPG-ish game to NOT feature an unranked queue as the default non-competitive format. It’s possibly one of the biggest holes in GW2’s pvp infrastructure, imo.

Let me go through those points one by one:

First if you are not in the mood to play “competitive” mode then hotjoin is amazing. You can just tune out and play away.

2: That is actually one of the great things about hotjoin. No premades stomping pugs very nice. (although you can still usually get 2 or 3 friends in a team, but most people that team up go and join team tourney).

3: Its a good start to the game. If you made winning more important- like in tourney- then you get the very stresses you say you want to avoid.

4: You can learn how to play a new class or build without having to worry about letting your team down, or the inevitable “lol you are rank 80?!” comments when you can’t pull off magic on the first time you try something new. Once you have the rotations down, how to deal with different classes/builds, you can then start thinking about how that build will work best in tourney, if that is the goal.

5: I am pretty sure that after 2 years my win/loss ratio is about 50%. In a night of hotjoin I’ll see even games, tight games, steamrolls one way and the other, come backs, a lot of fun- and more balanced than all other mmos pvp (excluding perhaps GW1). I don’t really overly care if I win or lose- but I care enough to make a win pleasing and a loss slightly annoying. That seems to be tuned just right.

6: Mobas? That unranked but hidden rating you are talking about ends up with pretty much the same situation you are now complaining about, not to mention that you can’t just join/leave whenever in those games. Nor is GW2’s system that complex its just conquest.

The Balance System in PVP is not up to my expectations

in PvP

Yasha.5963

You completely misunderstand my point. I have said specifically that, if people like hotjoin, leave it (although I think it is a stupid system). All I wish is to have a balanced PvP mode for casuals. And a ranking system is already throwing a portion of the casuals off, who would prefer to not being ranked but still would like a balanced PvP mode. It is beyond me that such an option is denied in GW2.

And this is why I called for smth. like GW1 random arenas (what would be essentially a solo queue without ranking, I agree to that), who had no ranking system when I played it (I was for 2 years a PvE pug in GW1^^).

Side Note: Insulting a straw man of ignorance is a pretty poor move my friend.

Solo join tourney is balanced pvp mode for casuals.

Hotjoin is balanced pvp mode for super casuals- the things you want to change in hotjoin would make it terrible.

Alternatively, you could pick axe off hand instead of shield, and use whirling axe on a stunned enemy. This way, you don’t have to swap weapons for hundred blades, and maybe pick another secondary weapon set.

The damage from that is not only much less, you lose the reflect from the shield AND the CD on Whirling Axe is too long to capitalize on it consistently.

Also, I gotta laugh at someone calling Skullcracker cheese…or even turrets. Do you know what that term even MEANS!? Cheese typically describes a tactic that is high risk but has a chance for an easy win but if your initial push fails you’re screwed. If you miss your first SC you still have blocks and an evade to stay on point until you can try again.

Cheese is something you eat- or in this case a tactic/ability/class that is low risk and requires little skill but has great effect (aka warrior). Your definition of “cheese” is actually how burst classes should work- high risk-high reward, which is not cheesy at all.

I did say it few months ago, keep buffing engis/bunkers/condi/aoe spam in pvp and you won’t see anything but perma evade thieves since it is only reliable way to play thief in current meta (soloq at least).

Backstab thieves usually get kitten on w/o well coordinated team so no real point to play them right now.

I don’t defend s/d, i find it pretty silly build but before you cry about evade thieves look at current meta and ask yourself what can thief with their crap survival (+ nerf to lyssa runes) play in current mess aka pvp?

Nerf aoe spam, nerf condis, nerf bunkers, nerf engis in generall (it still boggles my mind why they were buffed, whyyyyy anet, just whyyyyy???) and maybe people will start to play other builds.

But obviously won’t happen, because people want to play bunkers, never die, run in circles, spam aoe and watch their ai kill everyone. So don’t wonder that you have to fight perma evade thieves and stop crying for nerfs, YOU (bunkers, condi, aoe, ai spammers) are the main reason why thieves play that build, they are just adjusting to brainless builds that everyone plays atm.

Yep this.

I honestly cannot understand this thread. These days thief in general is one of the classes I fear the least. A lot of people seem to play s/d nowadays, but it doesn’t have enough burst to kill most of what is running around (see above quoted post) and then it has to die in a sea of aoe/cc or back off. Its really only good for what its meant to do- finishing off weakened targets and pressuring/killing squishies.

If the other thief builds seem weak then buff them, give dagger and backstab more damage, increase the heal on the venom heal, give SA +20% damage when coming out of stealth, that kind of thing.

S/d Thieves are no skill, no fun, no love.

Here’s my small input: I main my thief. I love the class, and I’ll never let it go. But I play game where I really struggle against a bunker engi or guard, or I get too eager to get into a teamfight and the errant AOE damage from the enemies that aren’t even focusing me kills me. Sometimes I go to take out a high priority target and both of my sigils proc and they go down in an instant, sometimes I’m not so lucky and the ferocity nerf really shows, so I have a hell of a time chipping through their defense.

And after a long day of having to constantly outplay any opponent I come across (which feels sooooo good. Every time.) I’ll occasionally jump onto my warrior and think about the following:

Running str runes and zerk stats, I still have nearly 2x the hp of my thief. I can dance right in the middle of a teamfight and my passive healing keeps me going (and I don’t even have to think about real damage mitigation.) and after all that, I’ll just SLAM my opponents every chance I get with an 8-10k eviscerate. That’s way more damage than I ever do on my full glass zerker thief.

I guess I got a little side tracked here, because I know
We’re Talking about S/D thieves and I mainly do dagger stuff, but what I’m getting at is this: I wouldn’t mind seeing the S/D play style nerfed (mostly through changes in the sigils.) but if that happens, we need higher backstab damage, because that’s all we’d have left.

Totally agree, and actually s/d is one of the least troublesome aspects of balance in this game (from my pov anyway).

Hello

I find PvP in GW2 pretty interesting, and it is something I want to get more into. I play Solo Arena primarily. After having levelled my Norn Ranger to 80, I have spent a lot of time trying to get better at PvP with him. Trying different builds, strategies and reading a lot of guides as to how to approach the PvP areas of the game.

But honestly right now I just die. Basicly. I try to be as aware of everything – dodge at the right times and do my best. But honestly with Ranger it feels like I picked the worst profession to learn PvP with. Some profs (Warrior, D/D Ele, Minion Necro) are outright unkillable for me, unless I get to stand far away and fire arrows as I please. Been running a Longbow/Greatsword build. I always get zerged down within two seconds, and solo arena feels like a rather ungrateful place to learn, as you can’t expect people to come and help – even if you call for it.

I’d like some tips as to what profession is a good “beginner” profession to play – one that is easily approachable and a less brutal learning curve.

Tell us your build and people can give you better advice.

If you are getting killed a lot you might want to go for a really tanky build.

Btw, the three classes/builds you mentioned as difficult are probably hard for most people to beat 1vs1.

What do you think would be the ideal solution to levelling the playing field, while still maintaining some of the game’s visual flair? Assume that you could do anything ie, don’t restrict yourself to what you think “can” or “cannot” be done.

Personally, asura are the only characters that are hard for me to see the animation or even to pick out its class in some cases. Its not just the size of asura. Its their shape and animations combined with tiny size that cause a problem.

My ideal solution would be to just delete all asura- I mean look at all the problems they have caused in spvp- even their map has caused continual tears for months on end.

Can’t we just….get rid of them?

PvE Dueling

Strictly from the business point of view ANet must ask themselves one simple question. That being how many PvE only players will quit the game vs how many new players the feature will attract. Seeing as there are not many options for a full featured MMO for those that prefer to not partake in PvP, I could see many that don’t want it leaving if implemented. On the other side of the coin many many MMO’s already have a duel function built in (WoW, Wildstar etc.) so attracting players that already have it elsewhere would be questionable at best.

I’m sure if they were to implement such a feature most that don’t want it open world would be quite happy to see it made into an area of the mists or an arena in a city. So long as they don’t see it interfering with what in essence is designed from the ground up as a cooperative environment. I for one could care less if they add it, if done right.

I disagree completely. That is not the question Anet have to ask themselves. Seriously the amount of hyper-sensitivity to having an optional duel feature implemented is almost mind-boggling. I didn’t realize GW2 attracted every gamer that has a breakdown whenever they get asked to duel, its craziness.

This is how much impact it would have on people still playing- assuming they are not completely emotionally unstable -ZERO.

What if the worst case scenario occurs and someone really does go out of their way to spam duel requests on you in order to “grief” you? Use the ignore feature and/or report them.

This is not such a complex issue that a developer needs to weigh up the pros and cons, balance issues, or add new systems for balance and checks. Its just a fun and completely optional diversion.

Some of the fears expressed are almost laughable- one person for example was scared that players would hack the game and start just killing everyone in pve left right and center.

Anyway, duelling matters little to me except my friends won’t play the game because it doesn’t have duelling. I’ll probably just buy them a copy and them they’ll have to play. Once they see how good it is and get over the learning curve for spvp they are sure to like it.

But for those really scared of a duelling feature – if it is ever implemented don’t go crazy, it will likely not effect you at all, and knowing ANET they will also let you “turn off” requests for duelling because they are just super nice at catering to all our needs like that.

Dueling is fine; as long as there’s an Auto Decline added at the same time.

Why?

For me it’s an annoyance equal to Gold Seller Spam. If I’m in the middle of something and I suddenly get a pop up asking me to duel – it’s bothersome and annoying… like having to stop what I’m doing and Report Gold Sellers.
Just like we would all love certain websites and gold sellers auto blocked, an automated system to decline duels would need to be in place.

While I have nothing against such a system, I have never been in an mmo where people spammed duel invites at me to the point that it got annoying…the issue is clearly being overblown.

If you get annoyed by someone in game for any reason you have the tools to deal with them already with the ignore feature.

I hadn’t though much about duelling because I mainly play pvp in GW2, but the issue came up for me recently because some friends didn’t want to play GW2 because there was no duelling in it.

I didn’t realize duelling was such a touchy subject here because I have never had an issue with it in other mmos, rather it has been a source of making new friends for me as the quote above.

I actually find it hard to believe that people are so sensitive that they are traumatized by someone asking them to duel.

i don’t against duel.

But pve dueling will create more problem to GW2.

1. classes are not build and balanced around 1vs1.

2. pve is so called for a reason. to fight dump ai. It will be at disadvantage to use pve build and gear to fight a player designated to duel.

3. trait, level and gear differences. There are players in other games that designated to kill newbies in order to feel good themselves.

fair fight is what i am referring above.

There is a split between pvp and pve for a reason. gear stat and skill wise. if pve dueling happens. It has to automatic switch both player build and gear to pvp build. Otherwise the class balancing ranting will be double or triple as of now.

i guess only a stupid game company will ignore the above and add dueling in pve without a proper solution.

Dueling has never for me been about a fair fight, its just a fun thing to do with friends while questing or to meet and play with other like minded people.

I am not sure if you are somehow confusing open world pvp with dueling, but it sounds like it from your post. The great thing about GW2 is that we have the option to do “serious” or competitive duels in spvp, but we lack an option to have spontaneous fun duels in pve.

I guess I’ll first preface with, you’re welcome for the bump.

This is something I’ve never understood, why some folks want to duel. I can at least see why people like to PvP. But, I’m sure no one understands why I like some of the things I like, and am sad that they were either changed or taken away since release (and wish we had the development team/management back instead of the live team/management, but I digress), so I guess I’m indifferent and hope you get it?

So why did you even bother to post? Your comment has nothing to do with my OP anyway- there is nothing to be indifferent or passionate about, I was just asking if duelling had been implemented in GW2 yet.

I guess to offer support from someone who wasn’t directly interested in it, as I can’t see why it would hurt anything, and also be curious as to why some folks enjoy it?

Oh I see, I misinterpreted your post then. I thought you were telling me to basically get stuffed, lol. Re-reading your initial post after your second post I see what you are talking about. So… apologies!

Just to clarify what I’m on about- I want my friends to play GW2 and not another mmo (because I like GW2 best) but they like to duel with me for fun and as a diversion as we are questing around.

I might have to end up just buying it for them if I can’t convince them that the alternatives (spvp) in GW2 are easy enough to muck around in. To be honest it was a miracle that I got them to stop playing minecraft for a while….

Anyway sorry again I misread what you meant!

There’s WvW. That’s….sort of…dueling in PvE?

Can you fight people on your own team in WvW?

Nope, you can’t. But sPvP isn’t much of a hassle to move in and out of. You click one button, and you’re in the Mists (PvP area). Click another, you’re back out.

I think you can also set up your own, permanent, PvP arena, and just duel when you wish. I never actually set one up myself, but it should only take a few minutes. After it’s set up, just hop in there whenever you want.

Its actually quite a bit more complex than just pressing “duel”, but anyway-

Can you now set up your own permanent spvp servers? Last time I played you had to pay cash to nab a server and even so it was time limited, so you had to keep on paying to keep a server up. Has that changed?

We’re saying we won’t change direction (from the previously stated plans) because it would put many players at a disadvantage, and on top of that these players would be hurt because they listened to us.

We seriously considered many different options, and doing nothing seemed the most fair. Do you disagree? Keep in mind, more people used boosters than did not.

The mistake was the original direction/decision to remove spvp rewards with no compensation for the players. That was a crazy decision, and I’ve never heard of an mmo just wiping everyone’s crafting materials and game currency boosters. Imagine if you did that in pve, the game would just crash.

You are right though, following that decision you have little choice but to stick to your guns and just wipe all the materials and boosters I have been accumulating since launch, that I was hoping to be able to use when the reward system was improved.

Its not a possibility- all materials earned in pvp are going bye byes.

Its pretty weird to just delete the rewards given to players without any compensation. I don’t think I have seen any other mmo do that.

Yes cerberus you are right, nothing much we can do about it though.

I guess its easier to do this kind of thing in spvp because the currency and crafting items have little or no impact on the game economy and since at least some pvpers don’t focus on rewards or need them to progress in the spvp part of the game.

Of course it is still quite insensitive to spvpers, I just hope the new rewards are actually worth working towards.

I don’t think warrior is overall more dominant than ele at it’s peak atm.

That’s interesting to read. I’m a filthy casual when it comes to PvP and sometimes it’s hard to have perspective on people’s comments when there’s so much QQ.

The difference is that eles required some skill to play, and the very powerful d/d bunker spec did not have really strong offensive capabilities.

Warrior atm is extremely easy to play and do well with. Its worth just playing again to fight them.

Turn glory boosters into glory consumables.

Well, since Anet is removing glory in future updates, I don’t see where getting more glory would be useful for now. I’d rather sell the booster for some silver, since gold will be the universal currency. What about 10s per booster? 25g a stack doesn’t see so unreasonable

I don’t see the correlation between gold and glory boosters.

Also, glory boosters are used to get glory. This is just a suggestion on how to get rid of all the excessive glory boosters people have before they become useless.

His idea makes perfect sense. Glory is a currency that lets you buy things. That is being taken away and replaced by a different currency (gold). The best solution for pvpers would be to change glory boosters to gold boosters, although I don’t see it happening.

Do the Devs have fun on skyhammer?

Also, where is this statistic of “x % of players want to keep the map” Coming from? I don’t remember a survey going around.
Discuss.

There have been several community polls.

I think the most voted on poll is in this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Poll-Should-Skyhammer-be-Removed/first

But the community feedback on this goes back a long time
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Survey-about-skyhammer-map

And there have been other polls over the course of 6-plus months- all of which resounding show that the community would like the map out of solo queue.

However, we did get a response from our community coordinator on this a couple of weeks ago (first response ever on the matter), in which she proves that at least 50% of the community think skyhammer is ok (community coordinator quote from thread):

“I’ve talked to a lot of people personally, and the feelings are mixed. I’d say it’s actually close to 50/50.”
Apparently this is “an example to prove that it is not a majority request to have the map removed from Solo Arena”

That thread actually had some interesting debate on the matter, unfortunately it ended like this:
(community coordinator quote)
“this thread has turned into a conversation about skyhammer, I’m going to go ahead and lock it”.

You can take a look at it by searching “gw2 I’m back” in google (I don’t think the search function works on this forum).

If I buy gear from the glory vender now, will it convert to gear that I can take into pve/wvw with the equivalent stats of the pve item? For example, if I buy an inquest armor box, will the inquest gear I get have +315 power/ +224 precision/ +16% crit damage (like the pve berserkers set)?

In a similar vein, will the skins I have unlocked in spvp to date get level 80 stats on them so I can use them in WvW?

Change glory boosters into rank boosters

Wait, you are suggesting changing a currency boosting buff into something that buffs a largely meaningless measure of how much spvp you play?

I agree its better than having them just be deleted, in that you get “something” back from them. However, I would MUCH rather they became “gold boosters” (for spvp) because that will be the new currency/spvp reward.

The current state of thief class?

Yasha.5963

can i get some details please

I think Cynz summed it up well, but I would add that it is not so much how thief is different but how other classes are different.

Warriors are now basically godmode- a total reversal from what they were like for quite some time after launch. Necro are now also significantly stronger, eles are weaker (for a while they were really strong). Tanky condition/cc builds that take a long time to kill and can do a lot of damage over time are really popular on many classes.

That means that it is much harder to play d/d burst thief now than it was. I’m pretty sure d/p is so popular mainly because it gives a good chance of beating beginner to mid-tier warriors.

Also unless you are really good, the condition removal in stealth trait is necessary if you are not playing sword.

Can’t they turn them into “gold boosters” instead? These things were meant to enhance pvp rewards, so it would be logical to make them boost the new pvp reward (gold) instead of just deleting them or converting them straight to gold (which might destabilize the economy).

Skyhammer doesn't belong in Solo Arena

I know what you’re thinking, ‘another thread!?’. While there has certainly been its fair share of threads regarding this topic, very few has actually offered constructive feedback and valid points other than “we hate this map”. While I will explain in detail why exactly skyhammer does not belong in Solo arena.
.

I appreciate that you have written an indepth post about why skyhammer is not good for SQ. However, this has been an ongoing issue for months, and there have been MANY posts with constructive feedback about it.

The ONLY response we have gotten on the issue is that a community dev thinks skyhammer is fine because 50% of the people she talked to said it was ok. Basically kittenting in the face of the majority of the community that have been trying to communicate for months what you have pointed out in your post.

I don’t understand you guys, we have been given solid evidence that skyhammer is liked by at least 50% of the community and yet I keep seeing threads and posts by you “vocal minority” asking to remove it from solo queue (well at least until your silly little opinions are moved to the trash bin where they belong, hehe).

Saying: “Skyhammer has literally put nothing but bad experiences in the game.” Is meaningless unless you give some real examples, not just the farming glory episode. You can say something sucks all day long, it isn’t going to be considered worthwhile criticism.

Infantry, I’ll tell you the same thing, put some thought into the posts otherwise it’s pointless to bother writing them. Every PvP map has a “gimmick”, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it should be removed.

Actually people have posted extensive, considered criticism of why this map is bad. There has been thread after thread for months on this topic. People don’t like it for various reasons, but the fundamental one is this:

From launch community feedback about spvp conquest has generally advocated bigger nodes, stopping the chance to be one shot, more allowance for counter play, a more diverse option for builds. We got the exact opposite of this with skyhammer.

The cheese we got is acceptable in hotjoin I guess, but as we can’t opt out of solo queue once it pops it is very frustrating for the many people who hate the map.

As for the “bad experiences”, I totally agree. New game features are meant to draw people in, get people wanting to play more. Instead SH brought a glory farming exploit and most of the spvp community hating it and making many either quit the game, afk if SH pops, stop doing solo queue (or get upset when they do decide to SQ and get SH), and endless rage threads on the forum.

That is all bad for the game, and many people on the forum, despite our whining, actually really like the game and despair when we see something that is so damaging to the game.

To put it in perspective, an example of a great new feature was the temple map. Wow, that is still one of my favs. It brought none of the above “bad experiences” to the game, and was and still is well liked by the community in general.

Also people are not asking for much. They are just asking please take our overwhelming feedback seriously- ie don’t put it on the same level (or lower) as some people you “talked with”- and just take it out of SQ until it is modified or we get an option to drop out of SQ once we see what map has popped (or some such feature).

Can’t go wrong with PVT in Wv3 IMHO.

That’s what I was told in game as well, but I don’t see any builds on intothemists etc that use that set up- also my damage at the moment is pitiful- against warriors they just stand in my blind stupidly but I can barely out damage their HS. Although that could be because I just have exotic weapons and one exotic armor (rest is"fine") and no food/gems/runes etc. I don’t know how much of a difference those things make yet.

Thanks for the other advice too Quake, Frans and Frigid- all extremely useful. I’ll try and pick up those runes of speed for now I think. It would be nice to have devourer venom on my bar instead of sig shadows.
