It’s not such a big issue, in my opinion. I’ve been playing WvW for over a year and a half now, and I’ve NEVER been whispered by anyone on the enemy team. (One time I got party invited by someone in Obsidian Sanctum, but he basically just wanted to tell me he was friendly and to please not attack him because he’d been struggling to get past the dark room/arena for half an hour now. And yes, I was nice and let him be. )
If somebody is being rude/abusive to you in WvW, regardless of which server they’re from, block and report them.
With Ranger’s Thunderclap, that’s why if I’m also playing my Ranger, I will use Hunter’s Shot to stealth, then move AROUND the downed player to the opposite side from my pet before beginning the stomp. The downed Ranger tries to target my pet with Thunderclap, but I’m out of range and the stomp goes off. XD
Mesmer’s Distortion also get stomps off successfully. Just make sure not to fire it off too early if you don’t have any clones up because the duration will wear off before you can finish the stomp, and you might get interrupted at the last second.
Engineers and Thieves are the most annoying to try and stomp. Warriors are the easiest. (Seriously, their Hammer Throw is sooo obviously telegraphed.)
You are slightly mistaken, OP. The PvP game mode where players can freely join and leave at anytime is “Practice”, more commonly known as Hotjoin. If your game time is such that you are frequently interrupted or need to go AFK, then I strongly recommend sticking to Hotjoin. It’s the “PvP-lite” where people go to practice new builds or just to muck around and have fun, where really anything goes and nothing there should be taken seriously.
The “Play” (Unranked) and “Compete” (Ranked) game modes feature a lock-in system where if you join the match, you cannot leave. If you try to log out and log back in again, it will put you right back into the same match. If you occasionally see people leaving and joining in these game modes, it is because the same player is switching characters. (Usually because they have studied the enemy team roster and decided to swap characters to one they feel can “counter” an enemy player. It’s a practice I don’t quite approve of, but it’s currently allowed.)
Yeah, that seems about right. From harvesting, say, a Rich Vein, my average return is anywhere from 2 – 4 Sprockets.
As of this post, you still have about 12+ hours, so get cracking.
If anybody picked the Legendary Crafting Materials chest, I’d love to know how many Obsidian Shards and Mystic Clovers you got out of it for data collection purposes.
Speaking for myself, I’m going to take the Ascended Materials chest this first time (because I need a spare Vision Crystal for Light of Dwayna), but subsequently I’ll always go with the Laurels chest unless I need more Vision Crystals.
7 clovers, 8 shards.
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! As mentioned, it seems that despite the description saying a “random” amount of clovers and shards, everybody is getting 7 Clovers and 8 Obsidian. I see that the Wiki has also been updated appropriately.
I’m sure that a Dragonite eater is coming sooner or later. It works out just fine for me, as I’ve finished making my Bloodstone and Empyreal stockpiles, but am still finishing off my Dragonite Ingot stockpile.
Dodgy Crowd is quite easily obtained with a group.
1. The people who need the achievement jump up onto the tall spikes near Nekhi’s tent. The centaurs with the trample/charge attacks can’t actually hit you up there, meaning you’re completely safe for the achievement.
2. The remainder of the party engage the centaurs on the ground (including Caithe, since the ranged centaurs can still attack you on the spikes, but her self-heal rolls you off the spikes).
For Wicked Rodeo, you can improve your chances by heading to the section of cliff that lets you jump up to the top. Don’t go ALL the way up, as that will mark you as being out of bounds and cost you the achievement. But the spot there is safe from the wind walls and as long as the Earth Elementals don’t die near that spot, no sand pools will spawn there. You will need a ranged weapon as you need to at least deal some damage to the boss to qualify for the achievement. (Naturally, this means that the player using Caithe can’t do this, so repeat the instance and swap roles as needed.)
So basically, it’s:
1. Ideally, have a tanky guy kite the adds away from the boss. (AoE characters can then safely nuke these guys.)
2. If you are Condi-based, focus on the boss.
3. If you are Power-based, kill the bubbles. If no bubbles are around, focus on the boss.
4. Classes with boon strips (i.e. Mesmers and Necros) have skills ready to strip them if they go up on the boss.
5. If you are stuck with using AoE skills (e.g. Staff Ele), focus more on the Bubbles, or on the adds if your tank is smart and has pulled them away from the boss.
http://south.paxsite.com/schedule/panel/guild-wars-2-beyond-the-point-of-no-return
It seems the point of no return points in an exciting direction after all.
Still a bit too vague. It could be that they’re announcing the return of Living Story Season 1 as buyable content (grandfathered in for veterans who were there), the Personal Story being revamped to use the same system, and then using the same system as LS2 going forward.
The problem with breach hoppers should largely fade once the final armor pieces have been introduced (and hopefully, guaranteed extractors for the final two body parts). The reason why so many are hopping at the moment is because it is the fastest way to acquire the RNG parts for the Carapace/Luminescent armor, by hitting as many Breaches as possible with the shortest amount of time.
Once again, the flaw lies with ANet locking stuff behind RNG.
I have had matches where we were all PUGs vs a full premade and we still won anyway.
Of course, I noticed that we had 2 Dragon ranks and one Champion Illusionist, while the other team was a guild team, but only one of their players (their Thief) was any good.
Note that prices for Ascended mats may actually come down a little now thanks to the Chest of Loyalty offering the Ascended chest as one of its options. If players opt for it instead of the Laurels or Legendary mats chest, that will be a huge spike of Damask/Elonian Leather/Deldrimor/Spiritwood coming into the game every 28 days.
It says a “small chance”, but based on my extensive mining experience with it ever since it was first released, I’m quite confident in saying that it’s actually about a 20% chance of getting a sprocket per swing.
Yeah, you can’t escape the room, obviously, but you can use the stealth time to put a lot of distance between you and the enemies, and to buy time for your healing skill to recharge.
They do have bone analogues, yes. It’s just that their bones are likely to be made of wood or a similarly tough plant structure, rather than the calcium and marrow structures found in animals.
Mmm, I dunno. The times I’ve seen that strategy used it usually turns into:
1. The Far runs into the enemy Far pusher and start fighting near the beach.
2. The Homes are capped respectively.
3. Enemy pushes 3 to mid, which overpower the 2 there. Guy who kills beast either stupidly joins in late and also gets killed, or runs on to other beast.
Heh, if Justin’s info is accurate, you’re doing WAY better than me, OP. My win/loss ratio is something like 1:2.5. That’s how I know that I’m really not good enough to be in Unranked (unless I just had terrible matchmaking luck); I only went with Unranked because I needed to grind the Wintersday Reward Track multiple times for the Rime Rebreather before Wintersday was over.
Yeah, I know that it’s random. I’m hoping to get some data from people who picked the Legendary chest so that we can record on the Wiki just what that range is.
Yea I got it the other day too, the exact same one. So it’s a good thing Anet put their logo on all their mails recently, if not I would have probably believed for it to be real.
Now what if they figure out how to put the logo on there… that will be a scary situation.
Even if they did figure out a way to put the logo on there (highly unlikely), you can still safely delete any such e-mails or messages you get. As someone else mentioned above, if ANet wanted to suspend your account due to suspicious activity, they’d do it immediately. They wouldn’t “warn you” beforehand, because that would just tip off the gold sellers/hackers that they were onto them.
Basically, the only time you should be concerned is if you try to log on and find that your account is locked.
You can’t “cosh” the guards in the final room; their shields will always stun you.
The key is to be patient. The amount of time Vorpp spends at each generator varies; sometimes he’ll only stay for a second, other times he’ll be there for 4+ seconds. Sometimes you’l have to pass up an opportunity to whack Vorpp simply because he spent too long at the previous generator and the guard’s visual arcs will swing back before you can get an attack off.
If you do aggro the guards, the best way to deal with them is to keep running around in circles around one of the platforms so the golems/guards follow you. Use skill 5 and skill 3 to damage them while you kite them, and don’t be afraid to use your elite to escape completely and reposition if things get too hairy.
I’m up to 227 Tomes of Knowledge now. I honestly don’t know what I’ll do with them once I hit a full stack. I already have 6 level 80’s (one of whom is basically a mule that I only got to level 80 so I could park him at World Bosses to farm for the collection trinkets.) I have no plans to make another level 80 unless ANet releases a new race. (Which seems unlikely.)
Would definitely love to be able to sell them to players who want them, but I’m fairly certain ANet will never, ever do this since it completely trivializes the leveling process/experience.
While I’d love for Chef and Jeweler to go to 500 with this patch, there hasn’t been any new information unearthed that points to this. I do agree that the giant flower Mordrem is bound to make an appearance sooner or later though; this episode seems as good as any a point for it to happen.
Unless you really, really like the flame/lava theme, Watchwork Pick, hands down. My Watchwork Picks at this stage have probably paid for themselves, and every new sprocket they give me is extra money in the bank.
She probably doesn’t want people to know she’s actually there. Either to bait out potential aggressors who might try to attack Jennah when she’s “unguarded”, or maybe she wants people to believe she’s back in Divinity’s Reach so they won’t take the time to run amok believing that both the Queen and the Master Exemplar of the Shining Blade are absent. (Caudecus comes to mind…)
My usual combo is Chaos Storm on the group, Mirror Images + Phase Retreat, Mind Wrack/Cry of Frustration. The Confusion ticks on the mobs will tag the survivors that don’t die in the initial burst. If the group is still alive after that, swap to Sword/Focus, drop Illusionary Warden and use Blurred Frenzy.
If the mobs are dying REALLY fast, then just stick with Blurred Frenzy/auto-attack. If you’re in a group, that’s usually sufficient to get credit.
She’s in disguise. (Mesmer illusion.) You didn’t REALLY think she’d let Jennah out of her sight, did you?
But… why? WXP is only useful for WvW itself. It literally has no use to you at all in PvE or PvP, so why would you do a game mode you don’t enjoy, for something that can only be used in the game mode you don’t enjoy? Just skip it altogether (unless you need Map Completion for a Legendary. Badges for the Gift of Battle can be gotten purely through AP chests).
Glad to help!
Yeah, I know they can be bought with Laurels, but it’s not worth it, as you mentioned. I think trading Badges for WXP would be much more worth it.
Then the people going to Unranked/Ranked for the profession wins don’t know how to get easy autowins for their Dailies in Hotjoin. Let me teach them how to do it:
1. Join a match. If there’s a clear disparity in team strength, join the winning team.
2a. If you cannot join the winning team because of team imbalance, wait to see if someone joins the losing team (in which case, join the winning team), or someone on the losing team ragequits/goes back to Spectate, forcing Autobalance.
2b. If the teams stay unbalanced, join the losing team yourself. This will almost certainly prompt one of the Spectators to join the winning team. Now go back into Spectate yourself to force Autobalance.
3. ALWAYS volunteer for Autobalance. Doing so will give you the win credit for the match (counting towards the Daily), even if you lose.
4. That’s it. Play the rest of the match stress-free knowing you’ve got your Daily done no matter what.
And that’s how you can get your Daily Profession wins easily in Hotjoin, sometimes within less than 5 mins. Now you can leave the Unranked/Ranked servers to the serious PvP’ers, if all you’re there for is to do your Dailies.
Yeah, those were all from the 11-19 range. I know that <10 no bonus items drop.
Are you possibly in PvP? There is a bug where some consumables/bags can’t be used/opened inside PvP.
Mesmers are probably the only class that are forced to make a Swiftness armor set.
Elementalists, Rangers, Thieves and Necromancers have a signet that can serve the purpose.
Warriors and Engineers can trait for it. (And in the case of Warriors, you’re almost certain to be using a melee weapon, so it’s an easy choice.)
Guardians have liberal access to Swiftness via utility skills and Staff.
This is an easy question to answer.
Unlock every single skin in the Wardrobe.
The player who is dedicated, skilled, rich and lucky enough to do that can rightly claim the title of being ANet’s biggest fan and the most dedicated GW2 player in the world. And as far as I know, no player has ever done this yet.
This is probably the most difficult of the Rushes, but it’s still doable.
1. Clear the path for the runners as much as possible. The danger points are at the Broodmother (easily killed now that she’s only a Veteran), the Wurms at Onyx Fields (you can bypass this by dropping down from the cliffs when there’s an opening), and at Steampipe Steading (this will need to be cleared by non-runners, as it’s just too suicidal to rush through as crabs).
2. For the crabs, remember that you can use skill 2 to gain Swiftness AND scare off attacking crabs. If you see a bunch of incoming hatchlings, use skill 3 (and hold it down, to channel it) to block the explosions.
3. As someone else mentioned, Mesmer portals work too. This can be particularly useful for Steampipe Steading. Just make sure you tag the last gate.
4. It goes without saying that escorts should bring Water fields and regen for the crabs.
I think this problem could have been easily solved simply by making the Rime Rebreather tradable. I know a guildie who has 2 of these now, but he only has one character and thus the second one is completely wasted since he has no intention of making a second character. He’d love it if he could sell or give away the spare.
The Reward Tracks are a really great idea in terms of incentivizing players to try out PvP. But I do agree that it shouldn’t do so in a way that inconveniences PvP veterans (having total newbies join their Unranked/Ranked games when they shouldn’t be in there), or by forcing PvE players to do PvP if they really dislike the game mode. Having the Rebreather be tradable would have overcome both issues.
My personal theory is that Mordremoth attacks Camp Resolve (via his vines and his minions), the Pact attacks him, but he pulls out something they hadn’t previously expected (the giant flower, maybe, or the Shadow of the Dragon makes another appearance), and the Pact suffers a devastating defeat, losing almost all of their airships or maybe even the Glory of Tyria itself. However, even though they are now effectively crippled, they can’t go back because they are the last line of defense for Tyria. Hence, the “Point of No Return”.
I got the meta this year. It was actually fairly easy to complete, by my standards (got it within a day’s play). However, the repeatable achievements were a MAJOR grind compared to previous years, and I hope ANet scales it back for next year.
I don’t really see a problem with the beasts’ current spawn time. It just requires education for them to know that you should only go beast if you are the type who normally pushes far AND have the damage to take the beast out quickly. (In which case, you can then go and reinforce mid afterwards with a minimal time investment and a stat boost for your team). Alternatively, just leave the beast to the person who capped Home, if nobody from the enemy team has come over.
Yeah, from my brief forays into Unranked, I have to agree that communication really makes or breaks matches there. A proper split at the start (I favour a 3/2 start, just in case we have somebody on the enemy team who pushes far and the person who went home isn’t skilled enough to win), followed by proper reactions to reinforce areas under attack, is usually what wins the match.
One time I was in a winning match that we ended up losing because I saw that we weren’t stopping the Orb runner, and nobody heeded my pleas to come help me kill the Orb runner (they were built almost specifically for it, with leaps, innate speed boosts and tons of defense, and there was a Thief who kept ganking me when I tried to stop him). Instead they all just continued fighting at Raven. -_-
Keep them please. The fun/frustration you have when you steal a Svanir/Chieftain kill, or have one stolen from you, is one of the best things about Niflheim.
yea unfortunately many dont share your sportsmanlike attitude and would just use it to troll people, would do more harm then good
Basically this. The number of skritt-heads who would abuse it far outnumber the good sportsmen.
Allow me to buy Liquid WXP for Badges and I’ll be happy.
People can play however they like in EotM, as long as it doesn’t involve exploits or cheating. This means that both karma training and defending are equally valid playstyles. A good EotM Commander will know how to do both, depending on whatever the zerg prefers at the time.
On a somewhat related note, are people still getting bonus items for completing a set of 4 Fractals? I haven’t received any for the last 5 or 6 runs (just the Pristine Relic, Empyreal and gold); I’m unsure if there’s been a stealth nerf or whether I’m just having a really bad streak.
Jormag has been seen corrupting corpses (Edge of Destiny novel) – and in fact, icebrood end up as skeletons encased in ice by the time they’ve reached full-on corruption.
I wonder though… Is that because Jormag actually corrupted existing corpses into Icebrood? Or is it a case of the victim’s flesh actually being turned into ice (which builds up more and more as the corruption proceeds), until all that’s left is just the skeleton surrounded by masses of ice? (Haven’t read the novel, so I wasn’t sure if it actually described Jormag corrupting corpses. That just sounds a bit too much like Zhaitan’s domain.)
1. The bug is annoying, yes, but instead of leaving the map, just press “0” to exit the current song, then rejoin before the next song. That usually fixes it.
2. If it’s the last song, just wait through the free play period till the next round starts. Go check the TP or alt-tab while you’re waiting.
