I just think that people that expect something from 15 vs 15 or 20 vs 20 GvG fest should play another game. So that there is more room for people that are actuall pretty loyal to the normal PPT game. Instead of queueueuing up on their borders and doing nothing.

Lol any old game can come up with a brain dead siege system, in fact many have. Not every game can come up with such a great combat system clearly, blobbing and pressing 1 all day on siege doesn’t exactly appreciate the game in all its glory does it?

In the video the mob didnt seem to but I wonder if they autoattack before theyre in range (hmm they would have to otherwise there’d be disbalance with whether the enemy has a ranged or melee weapon) because if so confusion build runners are going to have a laugh xD.

There has been some great suggestions over the last two years.

My personal fav was that individual guilds would compete for objectives on the WvW map.

Claiming a tower/keep/etc would start earning your guild currency which you can spend on exclusive skins/gear/etc.

The Megaserver also lends itself extremely well to this as it could create new maps based on the size of the guilds trying to join a map at any one time.

Sadly none of these suggestions have been realised, and WvW is feeling more dead than ever.

Surely that first suggestion would lead to pve guilds coming into wvw to claim a keep and then dissapear letting wvwers to defend the keep and essentially work for the pvers? That’d be a truly disturbing turn of events :/ Not to mention they probably wouldn’t even have the fort buffs on.

You shouldn’t include objective captures for the wvw side because it’ll just promote karma training or even worse making out pvers who are grinding eotm appear to be doing a good job. Unless you include wvw player kills and objective defenses.

I think the tinkerer suggestion sounds cool for you engis :P
That engineering disciplines thing is really nice idea too but it wouldn’t work because the base proffessions aren’t seen as precursors but a specialisation itself (you lose something for everything you gain when choosing a specialisation).

This whole issue would be gone if Anet would let us upgrade with Badges of Honor. I’ve legit got about 15k of them lying around.

And then there would suddenly be loads of gold created in WvW with no sink whatsoever and thus the inflation would totally crash the market.

You really think that’s going to matter with the amount of gold they are pumping into pve.. (dungeons, silverwastes, the list gets longer with every update it seems). Upgrade costs hardly makes a difference to the economy as a whole with how much gold they are fine with pumping into pve but it makes a big difference on the individual wvw players bank accounts.

How do the loot tables from WvW compare to lvl 80 pve map mobs?

Shouldn’t killing a lvl 80 player, regardless of how long since their last death, have a better reward than killing a lvl 80 mob in Orr?

How many precursor drops in WvW went unclaimed becuase the player died before they could collect their loot?

I think they fear this could be used for farming. Like chain killing a friend from another server to get loot bags. They could however implement a system where the loot gets better if the player has not been killed in a long time.

That’s already in place, I remember a dev even saying that there is a timer set on players before they drop loot i beleive.

This thing goes rampant, I see a lot of cheaters in WvW (mostly Brauch Bay players) and in sPvP it’s totaly common. The last one I’ve met a hour ago was a necro who basicly spike-killed within 2 seconds while I’ve been blocking, not to mention how ignorant he was with the interrupts. Nothing had effect on him, and my 12k Rapid Fire in the back barely damaged 1% of his total HP.

When will AN take this serious? eSport when it’s full of cheaters, lol.,

Lol people think necros are in GWEN for a boon strip of one boon per pulse and some blind you get once per fight, I’m guessing you have no idea about the raw spike damage they can produce ^^.

If stability will only give you a set # of Immunity, then to balance it how about a fix the amount of targets CC can hit. Specifically ground targeted control effects.
They need to close the 5 target Limit loop hole in that is Ground Targeted Area of Effect spells. Ground targeted spells now have infinite amount of targets, while “Some” can only effect 5 targets a pulse/second the total # is not capped. As long as it remains on the ground it can effect new targets not in the original 5. Sure as long as those 5 are in the AoE of the ground target they should be effected but not new ones.
1 CC (ie Spectral Wall, Static Field, Line of Warding) should remove a 1 Stability stack from or effect 5 Total people not 20,30,or even80 potentially.

That would turn what is quite a beautiful combat system into a incredibly dull and unintuitive one and tbh anet is in some danger of going down that road atm

Why not just one really really big map? Make the WvW map as big as one of the PvE zones. Put in random keeps and towers, and let people fight it out to their hearts content. Allow for “Waypoint Creep”, and watch the fun flow.

Their servers can’t handle that many people in one instance

After looking at the traitlines for the Revs, it seems like they’ll be extremely useful as a midline heavy. They gain a lot of their strength through eating conditions – so the revenants could be very useful for tanking the corruption wells and necro marks.

If a necromancer is a middle range backliner, a revenant could be a middle range front-liner, to eat up the conditions and convert it into something that makes you stronger.

With the new changes it should be quite exciting to see the meta change. I think we’re going to have to do a lot more tactical play, there will have to be more of outsmarting your opponent than out-muscling them. There will be a great deal of baiting your enemies into pushing, or wasting their cooldowns. Either way it should be fun.

The conditions isn’t what kills you lol it’s the raw physical damage from the wells that does. Damaging conditions have no effect in zergbusting because it’s all done away with by -Condi duration and stray group cleansing.

I’m aware that damaging conditions have no effect, the ones that really kill you are the soft CC, cripple, chill, immobilize. I’m suggesting that one could use revenants to bait the range bomb, and then once they’ve soaked up a few conditions, one could push.

It’s all theory anyway, we’ll have to wait until we have our hands on the rev to find out.

Yeah thing is revenant probably won’t do as good a job of this as our current melee, reason is because while they have seemingly high access to resistance they have low access to consistant Condi removal. They also don’t seem to be able to put up a lot of cover boons like the guardian so if left alone to do their thing they might actually be prone to corrupt. As it stands well of corruption and null field doesn’t actually corrupt anything terribly useful because stability for example is very low on the priority list. Our current melee can convert conditions to boons with warr warhorn I think it is and in an emergency you have purging flames, what is hard for them to deal with is the single tick of soft CC taking effect because of pulsing skills like frozen ground.

Mallyx is more like necro on crack. Slowly kills himself due to no condi removal. Can’t get out of CC due to no stunbreaks but it has everything i wanted in necro.
Apart from that elite has its limits (transfer every 3 sec, condi duration capped at 3 sec).
So while mallyx looks awesome on first glance, it has necros vulnerabilities x10.

Also is it confirmed/denied that revenant can’t choose utility skills? Arrows are there but they could be for changing skill location only.

Stability was not and never was out of jail for free.
-> Boon strip = no more stab.
->Immob -> counter stability.
-> Slow/chill -> pass throught stability.

And for a group to have permanent stability. You did need to grab more than 1 guard per party (that is without counting boon strip or other random factor : out of range to receive buff because the guard in your party or you got picked off/your guard died).

Did everyone forget that lines exist? Now stability will only block a finite number of stuns, but line skills allow you to apply an infinite number of stuns. How do you expect to be able to push a choke or even close to melee range with an enemy group when they can strip all of your stability stacks instantly?

Assuming you move through it in one motion the line will only strip one stack I think to get a full description try using the rangers trait where one CC is tranfered to the pet I’m ranger I haven’t spent a lot of time on ranger but pretty sure it lets you walk through a line

That certainly wouldn’t be good for roaming.. are you telling me you’d like to be enclosed in a small corner of the map due to be cut off by walls or have to fight an opponent handicapped with you being perma-chilled? Those things are exactly the reason eotm is terrible for roaming

Don’t get why people are saying reward tracks are a bad thing. The rewards may be what attracts pvers to eotm but it isn’t what keeps wvwers out, it’s the fact that there is too many mobs and AI controlled objects to make it fun.

Try solo roaming in eotm and you’ll see the biggest problem is that you’re constantly enclosed in a small section of the map because the npcs in some areas can actually kill you or that every time you find a fight you get perma knocked down by automated cannons.

If a pve blob for some reason rushed into wvw in force right now they would get steam rolled by guild groups and picked off relentlessly by roamers.

Make the best personal rewards in WvW come from killing enemy players, not capturing objectives.

perhaps you are new to WvW, but killing enemy player is not, nor has every been, the actual object of the game mode.

WvW is PvP, if you like WvE you can go EoTM.

Capturing objective should be the least rewarded thing in WvW, defending and killing other players should be far more rewarding.

Remind us again, How do you win a match up?

Coverage and population.. it’s a joke that there are still ppt heroes around

Well I hope they create an OS instance you can enter from within the guild hall that you can invite anyone into because then you still have the gear customisation from wvw. Also I’m sure there are many people who wonder who would win if they dueled a guildie with their wvw roaming spec.

And lets be honest here, the GvG crowd is 1% of the WvW community, and that’s being generous. The WvW community is 5% of the game’s total. They’re a tiny, excessively noisy sub-culture in Anet’s game which DOES have 2 quite similar pvp experiences they already sanction…

They’ve already gotten Obsidian Sanctum. I mean kitten ..

Practically every zergbusting (/fights) guild out there in wvw gvg’s.. or are you trying to tell me there are still people out there who think ppt means something

Anet should make transferring to lower-tier servers than the server your’e currently on free, while transferring to higher-tier servers should be twice as expensive as it is now. That would be a good start I think.

My friend and I do this. We run a power necro with corrupt boon and a full venom share thief. We can down the commander 75% of the time and have done it coutless times. We have a problem getting him stopped before the banners fall from heaven.

Soon we will recruit a hammer medi gaurd and a stealth thief
Once we down the commander the med gaurd will teleport punt it to the thief hiding in shadow refuge kekekeke

Just place corrosive poison cloud on him after he downs to pulse poison, that stops the banners reviving him. Banner isn’t necessarily a revive, it actually just gives him a huge heal so if he’s poisoned one banner won’t be enough to get him up. Then use death shroud 2 to blink to him and plague stomp ( after pressing f to stomp activate plague immediately after n it’ll continue the stomp with stability and God mode toughness). Happy hunting :P

You’re not very legendary if you had to carebear your way through one of the game modes.

You can have your pve only map completion item when I have my wvw only map completion item.

Also, wow the irony of the pvers saying it would be too easy for us to have that item for completing only the wvw maps. The entitlement is real.

Suggestion for Anet

I wish to bring a suggestion to Anet and their developers. I know that sometimes thinking and doing isn’t that easy, but I played Gw2 from beta and after a year in WvW, PvP, PvE doing the same thing over and over just gets bored. I moved to AA to play other type of game, but 100% sure I said that I missed Anet cause at least you try to fix bugs and exploits when others doesn’t care.

However my suggestion is this in the few months that I played AA the naval battles was enjoyable a lot than the battles on the ground. why? cause it was something different as a fight and working together as allied guilds on the same server helping each other and trying to dominate a certain area or a world boss.

However my point is how much is it difficult to make something like that so we can have a chance to use the pack airship flight. Like every guild can have 1 with guild upgrade and every server can go in a instant with only max of 10 airships vs other servers. who wins can have a reward for guild halls or different reward for the winner server.
It can even be combined that the first and the second place in WvW will have the chance to go in this instant and instead of 3 vs each other will be 2 vs each other. Like that the guilds on the servers will be more motivated to press on points than just ignoring the score.

Because I’m trying to bet on a huge influx of players due to the expansion as a reason for putting up with bad matchups for a while as a trade off but fair if the influx isn’t as large as I hope it won’t be worth it. (In attempt to replenish all servers population).

Also about players not knowing which server to go that’s the point of my suggestion, I’m trying to avoid all the new players simply picking the number one server because they think it’s the best.

As for hard work getting glicko, I know ppt players will take offense to this but we all know by now glicko is nothing more than a representation of raw population and coverage.

I think a good idea would be that when the expansion hits to reset the glicko rating, this would mean that new players coming into the game or misinformed pugs looking to stack on the ‘best’ server wouldn’t know which to choose and hopefully all servers would benefit from the influx of new population.

Sure it would mean a few initial bad matchups until the tiers reform but I think it would be worth it in the long run.

They are making a PvP mode that is almost identical to the original GvG in Guild Wars 1.

The fact that a tiny group of people in WvW have decided to call 20v20 clashes GvG is not really ArenaNets problem.

People have been asking for GW1 like GvG since release, and now they are getting it.

The WvW community was already having GvGs without even knowing. Your guild against my guild taking Stonemist castle is a GvG technically. Sure there are pugs around though.

This WvW GvG community say that the 20v20 deathmatch takes skill. IMO the only skill that you need in this deathmatch is preparation of builds and gear stats.

The actual gameplay of the WvW gvg community plays out like this……

" STACK , Might! , Veil, Drop aoe at your feet! Slowly back away….."

And yet the pvp heroes wouldn’t make a dent in top tier gvg guilds in a gvg

Wow look at the amount of point capping heroes desperately hating on gvg without ever knowing what its like to fight to the death with perfect group synergy and synchronization between 20 people.. along with the extensive theorycrafting that takes into account all the builds across the entire team.

Greatsword for Necro will really, really break the whole theme for me. I just hate that oversized crap and it’s going to look as ridiculous as Mesmer now which is a big no no.

But if you really, really have to push us into that area, make a new spec with GS purely Siphon based.

And give me a choice for a caster power spec, managing Life Force dynamically.

That’s what majory’s katana skin is for :P

It wont be a EOTM map, it’s supposed to be a BL rotation. I have already posted my disappointment that after all this wait we only get one new WvW BL map and some yet to detail WvW changes in defense of towers.

We should have had this map last year, this map should be at minimum the 3rd WvW BL map.

But again we’ll have to wait and see.
It will refresh the stale state of WvW at the moment, and I am hopeful it will bring some old players back to check out the changes.

The new PvP mode will allow GvGs, great for GvG players as well.

BUT WvW deserves more attention!

And what I really want to know is and answer from anet: Why should WvW players buy your expansion for just one much delayed map?!

They’re making defense (i.e. siege and scouting) more important. What do you think………………………….

With the lava mechanic sounding a lot like the automated turrets that seem to cover a third of the map so much for fights undisturbed by the environment/pve.
