Pewpew Ranger is like pewpew Necro just better in every way. Lich is dope though.

Sure, better in every way…. as long as you don’t include the massive AoE spike damage, boon removal (that is extremely important in the cele meta), the “I win” elite, teleport, multiple condi transfer, and stun break + stability on a 7 second cooldown.

Always hilarious to see someone who can’t play necro call it a 7 second cool down. But sure if you want to sacrifice your profession mechanic and in doing so lose your sustained single target dps, lose 50% crit chance for your ‘massive aoe spike damage’ and your only means of damage mitigation by all means go ahead and call it a 7 second cool down.

People say necro doesnt have to be up there with the optimal classes for dungeons because unless youre speedclearing, people only need viable builds/classes. What they don’t realise is that necro’s are complaining about be shunted from almost all lfg dungeon partys.

This is because scrubby pugs dont read into all the information provided by dungeon theorycrafters, they simply look at what are the ‘best’ classes to have for dungeons regardless of if they are doing a casual run and then spew comments like the optimal classes are picked because they bring the most damage.

That is why people want necros to be improved in the dungeon scene.

Depending on the stealth skips, I’m pretty sure you could get away with one thief. You’d just need blasts from both parties in the smoke field.
- Though now I’m wondering why this isn’t done in WvW for a 14s stealth bombs. Besides the coordination usually failing miserably.

It is you can see it in recent gvg’s they don’t bother with veil on mes because the cooldown is ridiculous compared to just having stealth whenever you please using the powder blasts.

What is the advantage of playing WVW now?

I was going to start my own topic for this, glad I looked around. So here are my proposed changes to WvW.

In sPvP you have Titles & Achievements that are obtainable in months time instead of years time. You can get a custom set of armor through playing many matches and earning the reward track. You can obtain unique finishers.

So my idea:

  • Give players finishers when they reach particular levels of WvW rank.
  • A unique armor set that can be bought for ungodly amounts of a unique currency that you can only get in WvW (not EoTM).
  • Change those god awful WvW achievements.

Suggested changes to achievements:
*Yakslapper – 1,000
On an enemy borderland that owns all their camps, you can make 3 circuits in 1 hour killing 30 yaks total (6 camps, 2 yaks, 3 times) If you farmed an hour a day and were actually able to kill 30 yaks it would take you a little over a month.

*Kills – 10,000
It is fairly easy to get large number of kills while zerging. Still this should be obtainable in a few months of play.

*Repair – 10,000
A little low i’d think but still something that would take a couple months of trying to earn, if not a year.

*Captures – 10,000
This is the you captured anything achievement and unless you are Karma Training it should take quite a while to hit this. But not out of the scope of a year.

*Escorting – 2,000
Escorting takes time per point, and could be killed easily by an enemy sneaking in and bursting. But a high number should be encouraged so players take the time to escort as needed. But still not spend their whole life doing it.

*Capture Castle – 1,000
[i] Stonemist is either flip happy or hard to cap depending on the match-up. Assuming some unlucky match-ups 1000 should take a long while, on the other hand its not out of reach for those that let it flip slightly more often.[/]

*Capture Keep – 1,000
[i] A hard objective as keeps don’t flip super often you may see 1-2 keeps flip on a good day of playing unless you are on ridiculous amounts or your enemy is not trying to hold their keep.[/]

*Capture Towers – 1000
Arguably low especially with break out events nearly securing you a free tower often, or undefended boarder lands easy to get, but this is an achievement and as such it should be obtainable. Still high for the new player coming into the game.

*Capture Camps – 2000
Camps flip a lot easier compared to other objectives. However the player is not always the one flipping the camp so still an obtainable goal for those supporting all positions

The following are the defending objectives not sure if this would fully be removed with the new upgrade system being a defend event.

*Defending – 10,000
This is the defend all things. Should be obtainable.

*Defending Stonemist – 1,000
I feel like defending Stonemist to often is not strategic to the play of some commanders so an obtainable goal is what I was aiming for.

*Defending Keeps – 2,000
Keeps are the life of your borderlands, with waypoints and large amounts of supply they open up your play quite a bit and they are massively defensible. A higher number for defending so that it encourage players to defend them.

*Defending Towers – 1,000
Towers offer useful position for siege and add to your ppt, but they are also easier to reaquire so sometimes a tower defense can be forgone, therefore just the obtainable goal. Still encourages defending towers quite a bit.

*Defending Camps – 1,000
Same argument obtainable blah blah

These changes would encourage more players to play WvW to earn the achievements and titles beyond those that just enjoy WvW. Similar to the PvP titles being changed to encourage more people to try it.

I believe most will agree the one achievement that should stay as it is is kills.

Lol you guys realise if everyone gets the speed boost as baseline its back to square one? Its a form of power creep because then you’d have those signets and runes making you even faster..

What youre complaining about is the maps being too big but I think you’ll find many disagree with that when you put it like that.

well thanks for the info on it at least guys and maybe ANET should consider adding a stability pulse to well of power. that would at make things a lot easier on the necro and if u made it pulse to allies that would add some great support ideas for ppl looking to branch out and not follow every1 else…speaking of which i feel ANET is slowly moving down the same path WoW did with the whole cookie cutter builds…i mean why are they nerfing everything to the point where u can only play a class 1 or 2 ways and everything else isnt even viable competitively? increasing build diversity would def improve the game in my opinion

Well my suggestion was to have 3 dailies, one light armor, one medium, one heavy. That includes every profession.

Then whats the point of having any achievement at all lol? Thats basically saying win a match.

And how is ‘’win a match as a ranger or thief’’ any achievement? It would be much better for the state of pvp if it was just ‘’win 3 games’’ for example.

I mean the daily thing as in one of your 3 quotas lol not that you accomplished something :P

But yes im saying in that case you might aswell scrap the proffession one and make it win a match if you were to do that

So…with this “bug” , thieves cannot restealth immediately after failing a backstab…and thieves players say the game is now unplayable…hmmmmmmmmmm

Entire aspects of the thief class are broken. An entire trait line is invalid due to these changes. Shadow Refuge, a staple skill, has lost over 50% of its effectiveness.

Imagine if some of these things happened:
-Mesmers now only get 2 clones
-Warriors only get 2 bars of adrenaline
-Guardians only get 2 virtues
-Elementalists only get 2 attunements

These are obvious exaggerations, but they would significantly change the entire mechanics of the classes. Entire builds and trait lines rely on class mechanics, and a change like we are seeing with stealth completely changes the thief class (as well as mesmer, ranger, and engi to a certain extent).

This is not a “qq poor thf” thread. It’s a “Anet, you broke your game, please fix it” thread.

I think phantasm, turret and spirit weapon should be list together as minion because basically they are the same.
Tomes from guardian are bound to disapear.
And warrior transform is set to become a physical ability. (no news about necromancers elite thought)
Kit and conjure could be in the same skill type. -> Kits
Venom and Mantra (Maybe glyph to), again are the same. -> Preparations
Banner and spirit. -> Wards

Plague will probably be corruption and Lich will probably be spectral

Well its kind of stuck in a limbo. Players will transfer regardless of the price precisely because the population disparity is so bad and hurtful to their wvw experience. Anet would also not want players to collectively organise a mass transfer to the cheapest server and being happy with their decision for a long period of time.

The only time they would need to decrease the price is if there was little reason to transfer i.e. the expansion (hopefully) bringing a fairly balanced population to all servers unless all new players do their homework but not enough and think that the place they want to be is the ‘#1’ server.

Hoelbrak gives -20% condi duration. You must be saying when combined with food. It doesn’t give you more stacks of might when empowering, just duration, and might is the first boon stripped. The point is Hoelbrak is for dps front line meta. However, if you are getting chilled and immobilized all the time, maybe you should change things up. Sacrifice getting some might stacks in combat for mobility and survivability through trooper runes.

And I don’t advocate every guardian run this. I find having a mix of shout and concecration for purging flames, and other consecrations a good mix. I’ve had many people come back at me saying “Trooper Runes are dumb,” “I’d never run trooper runes,” “What are Trooper Runes?” If everyone in frontline is running dps then kitten about being chilled and imob all the time.

I just hate people who think everyone should run one thing when a variety is better and usually help the group more. It really boils down to group comp. And if you’re running with a lot of pugs, they usually need more support as pugs generally run selfish, higher-dps builds.

Ugh where did I say hoelbrak gives you more stacks? The reason trooper was abandoned for melandru/hoelbrak (yes ofcourse along with the food) is because you put a cooldown on your condi clear when you can just have minus almost 100% duration. Some people started using trooper again for a time in gvgs only to deal with the opponent using +40% duration food etc there are many variations.

Also, god no.. you dont pick runes for the stats, no-one in the melee is running full nomads or full zerker meaning any change in stats due to rune choice as long as it isnt a completely useless stat like condi dmg can simply be rebalanced by swapping around your gear stat choices, you always pick the rune for the effects.

It’s been said many times so far there are many counters to venom wells. I get angry at people who kitten about them. Like many others have said, there are many other attacks that are just as bad. Blah, blah, blah, etc.

One of the things that amazes me: The other day I’m running with a commander who kittenes a ton about this. I was in his party, and asked if the other guardians/warriors run Runes of the Tooper (previously Soldier), which condi clear on shout. My guardian runs 3 shouts, and I swap to Pure of Voice when fighting larger groups so I cleanse 2 condis with each shout.

I was rebuked and laughed at stating that is an old meta (man, i hate that term), and the new meta is Runes of Hoelbrak. ??? Seriously? So, you want to have more dps and offer nothing to the group as a frontline. Then I never want to hear you kitten again about being chilled and immobilized.

Change your builds, change your gear, change your group comp to deal with your enemy.

Hoelbrak is to get the -60% condi duration and you have purging flames in an emergency to make it -93% along with the might duration giving the guards 100% (24) might uptime from empowers.

I’m just worried too many people including the devs are theorycrafting for situations with 3-5 enemies and not thinking about how we’re able to perform in a 1v1 effectively.

Valid concern, and certainly one to be looked at.

Opening up to the discussion however helps trying to find an ample solution… I am not saying I got the perfect one, hence why I want to hear people’s opinions so that we can gather good feedback. Spoj gave very good critique that the trait is already situational, and if the Chill does get toned down, you might even have a trait that was not to be feared at all

I think youre being way too optimistic of things just because of how they sound on paper. I don’t need to remind you of how bad a position necro is currently in now and anet certainly dont need the necro communities help in nerfing till its not viable again.

The trait on its own might sound powerful but as a whole the class has a few glaring issues to overcome.

Well of darkness is though to have such a long cooldown because its balanced around the chilling darkness synergy, at first glance it seems dhuumfire on baseline necro is simply sub-par compared to scepter auto-attack but ofcourse is very powerful on reaper simply because of the speed of attack.

Anyone else think we need a projectile reflect on reapers shroud 4? I know stuff is balanced around spvp but when it comes to roaming in wvw we would need a way to deal with projectiles in my opinion and a long whirl finisher would be a great place to put it imo.

Using the terrain only goes so far, I know there are a lot of bad longbow rangers out there but it doesn’t take a genious to know we don’t have anything to catch them with until we get close enough to use our chills.

Also that trait to reduce shouts cool-down on hit is not worth taking, the GS trait is good for the Life steal aspect but also hate the using Grave digger a 8sec cd skill to reduce other GS skills by 3% only are just as bad as the new Axe trait

Did you really think this through? Just one example. You are in a group of mobs, you need to hit only one foe with HP under 50% to reduce Gravedigger recharge by 100%. So you can basically spam it. And each time all other skills recharge by 3%. This is far from bad. It is potentially broken at least in PvE and possibly very strong in WvW zerg fights.

Pretty sure 100% cd reduction means halving the cooldown not bringing it off cd immediately. 4 sec cd is the same as the guard longbow #2.

  • Has a natural -50% damage reduction for non overflow damage.
  • cold shoulder -15% damage from chilled people
  • putrid defence if taken another -10%
  • frost armour -10%
  • protection -33%

The -50%, are you talking about about vital persistance? You do know that reduces natural degeneration right? not incoming damage

Back in the day before you could see the number of how much life force you had people calculated it was around 120% of your hp pool. We were told it was 60% by anet.

When we were given the number and it was shown by anet to be 60% of your hp pool but your life force still lasted as long it was deemed that it had an innate 50% damage reduction. Test it yourself start at full life force and eat some big attacks. Or even on jade maw use it to shield its gaze and you will just5 lose all your LF and take no hp damage at all.

Oh really didn’t know that actually, never paid particular attention to the incoming dmg numbers themselves

What you’re most likely to find is a guild that does all that except able to zergbust, zergbusting and your other requirements don’t exactly go hand in hand in terms of actual results even if a hard core ppt guild like to believe they can.

Also lol you’ll find while people will point you in the right direction, you will be doing the applying not the guilds.

Now this is no big problem but I am curious.
As we all know only projectiles can pierce but skill 1 of Reaper’s Shroud inherits effects from Life Blast. And as we know the Unyielding Blast trait gives Life Blast the pierce effect and Vulnerability condition.
So what will the pierce effect do to these melee attacks?
Will it have no effect? Or will it perhaps give the ability to hit more foe’s?

Would be cool if this trait increases melee shroud auto’s range

As for the animations i was hoping the motion felt like the warrior’s battlemode from cabal 2 online feeling really destructive.

It’s even worse when you down a player on top of a wall or cliff and the level up knocks you off so you die from fall damage.

For WvW at least, I can see Reaper carving a niche as a frontline fighter whose primary role is to debuff and boon corrupt. “Nothing can save you” is actually a pretty neat shout in that regard if you think about it, since it can potentially remove stability from 5 frontline guys during the initial clash.

Nah won’t work that well for wvw because stability is very low on the stripping priority list. You would need to co-ordinate with 3 or 4 necros? in order for it to be effective at which point you need to decide whether its worth having 4 necros (which will have low dps due to being in the melee train) rather than other classes on your team comp just for some boon stripping and vulnerability that will be cleansed fast.

Well its nice that our siphons work in shroud but i think its just distracting us.

I just think it won’t work, we needed that defiance bar and lockdown mesmers are just going to rip us apart. I thought our saving grace was if they made all shouts stunbreakers but they didnt.

Its cool and all but i think the reality is that is just will not work as they expect it to. Typical necro tbh looks good on paper but just gets destroyed by interrupts.

Another this is that they talked about the big wind up paying off in trade for big damage but I just didn’t see enough base damage on the skills apart from #2.

You shouldn’t be that concerned about Mesmers since all the Chill can really screw with them and those cleaving attacks will pop their Illusions. However, Thieves will be the issue here. They might not gain as many benefits from a successful interrupt as Mesmers but they have way easier access to it and almost all of their CC is easier to land. Plus they are half-immune to Chill. Go figure.

Well my friend made a good point, with alacrity he won’t be too worried about chill’s effects :/

It says UP TO 4. This is probably based on number of targets available. How many were in front of your character when you tested this?

I tried it with both 1 and 2 mobs while kiting them to make sure they were both lined up in the direction my character was facing and still only one snowball was thrown to the mob I was targetting :/

Umm guys look at the hidden arcana article where they talk about some guy working on the reaper elite.. above it is a picture of minions.

Ugh I was hoping the jagged horror shout was a one off but if they entire shout set is heavily minion focussed this is just disaster.. and it was going so well :/.

Hi, so this sigil should launch 4 snowballs in a cone in front of the user on weapon swap however testing will show that only one snowball is thrown and this is also reflected in the combat log (much like how the minor sigil of mischief should work).

Can we get a fix for this asap please ^^.

Its not that dragonhunter is generic.. its that it sounds like a dev gave his 5 year old son a minute to come up with the guard spec name.

And Reaper is better on that regard?

Its playing it safe in my opinion, and I would’ve complained about wanting banshee or wraith but then they gave us a kitteng dervish scythe
