Does this new chest loot also affect dungeon chests? Seems like its open world chests only where u get one sure rare at least, I guess it’s not the same for dungeons else people would be farming a lot now.

Shadow Behemoth was farmed for about a month after the fix in January, not a single Final Rest drops, comes last february patch and 20, maybe more are found in half a day. Either the loot table was messed up and fixed last patch or the drop rate was increased significally.

I did include the revamp of AC, though a new explorable dungeon would’ve been better or more fractals.

Since they’re not including some combination of new races, profs or maps, I wouldn’t consider it an expansion’s worth of content. ANet has their own history of expansions working against them here; I think perhaps Colin should have used different wording in his comment. GW1 expansions (w the exception of EotN) had new maps, professions and added game mechanics such as opposing factions and the hero system. When people think of an ANet expansion, I think they expect this level of new content, because that’s what expansions have been in the past. I understand those expansions were paid and these patches are not; however, my argument is that the word “expansion” sets player expectations too high. Better off just not using that term in reference to patch content.

Pretty much, I didn’t get to read that comment because it was on the forums contrary to that blog post that clearly set out many expectations, after reading it makes more sense however I think they are mostly things that MMOs work in which is polishing the game, fixing bugs and tweaking things.

yeah guild missions and living story are the other big things I didn’t mention, still not sold.

I remember back in november/december a dev saying that we could expect updates as big as an expansion on January/February. I was quite skeptical actually since usually things are blown out of proportion in games but I think it really didn’t even come close to expectations.

What we got is tweaks to professions, Increased drop rate of chests, more ascended accessories. The biggest update was the daily revamp and the laurel system and updates to sPvP. It’s not really that bad but I think close to an expansion was a bit too much.

To me something worth of an expansion is additional pve maps with events or a wvw map, pvp maps is good but just 1 was added, Additional skins, new weapons, levels or profession, or dungeons. And the only other thing that came close was the revamp to AC but I’m not sure if that was necessary.

What do you guys think?

that sucks, I used to do #2 shroud, then switch to dagger with chill on switch, come off, and kill my foe with wells/dagger.

For some reason all I’ve been doing is logging on to do my dailies then log off right after they’re done. I don’t know if I’m having less time to play, or I just got bored, or I’m playing less because of the dailies. I just can’t know.

That’s cause greatswords don’t deserve any more love, they’ve already gotten too much, I see an update sooner for the legendary scepter and the rest, then more legendaries for each before the update for mixed legendaries.

Thought this thread was about how to solo lupi as a necro.

Usually bring Signet of Undeth, Flesh Wurm, and spectral walk. Traits Stab on DS and Faster Speed in DS. Elite use Lich if DPS, Plague if Tanking. Flesh Golem usually doesn’t last much after summoned.

It really depends on ur build and how comfortable you are fighting him if ur just spamming with ur scepter or just going up and hit him with your dagger, dagger is nice because you can immobilize him.

Use vigor food and potions of undead slaying for an easier time.

You’re right not everyone should focus on Zho’Qafa, but people need to do it for at least a month before we can assume it’s not it and not let a single run discourage you. I read how a party of 5 did it for 2 weeks and now they stop because they think it’s too much. Obviously that’s not a large enough sample. It’s not like theres a zerg of 80s everyday running it all day, usually I get on the servers supposedly doing this and the pact is dead in the same place for hours.

Regarding temples in Orr, though these bosses are really unique, they have been done to death, everyday since the game launched.

It would be amazing to see a coordinated necro group and a mesmer do this because of the class mechanics. 4 lich with timewarps or 4 DS necros with life blast/flesh golem in timewarp would be the thing to see, wells also would do great damage with life transfer even though of its cooldown, but these would most likely be used the fight beforehand to take out the beginning 2 npcs and turrets. Dagger does have great damage and even though its single target it works just fine in CoF Speed Runs.

Zho Qafa is not as farmed as you think, except by those who think final rest drops by this event. Most people don’t even know how the whole spawn works and how long it takes to spawn, you’ll be surprised you can actually farm this event repeteadly with no timer (15 mins on a chopper is all you have to wait.) but no one does this or knows it.

Like I said I’m in a guild that’s farming the catacombs as much as possible in Fergs Crossing, so guest that server and see if you can find people doing the event. Send me a pm here if im not on in game for an invite to the guild. We need a larger sample size to determine if this is the place or not, besides you get a lot of exp and can usually complete most of your daily doing the event.

Ok guys I’m in a guild to run catacombs in straits as many times as we can to get a large sample. We are going to guest 2 of the less populated worlds. I’d like to have the biggest zerg as possible doing this event thus increasing the odds of it dropping and the speed the event is done. Of course we are hoping that it drops from the catacombs but if you want to do other events also you’re welcome to do so, do it for the sake of science.

I think it’s a fact that pugs do better with 80s only than with lower levels, the difference is quite noticable most of the time. I’ve done both full 80 groups and groups with alts and with our alts it takes us longer to kill things and the dungeon is a little more challenging than just killing through with our 80s, reason of course are things already mention like gear/traits/runes and sigils.

I really wish it was account wide. I have a necro that got up to lvl 34 fractals, which I have stopped playing for a while now and there is no way I will get back up there with any of my alts, even level 10 seems so far away repeating the same fractals everyday just to try to get rings for my alts.

Relax bros, we all know havis is the ubeer leetzors sauce dungeon master skipping, simin destroyer and arah lupi solo-er, zerker gear ftw, his word is the law and if he says you’re bad then you are, period.

I wouldn’t say warrior is simple to play at 80. Sure we don’t have any ez mode stealth, clones or spammable AOE circles but that just means we’re harder to play. =P

BTW OP you picked a biased answer, from all the replies we can conclude that Warrior is the easiest/fastest profession.

I have 4 lvl 80s and 1 level 50. To me the fastest to level was the warrior.

from 1-35 the first things that you want to unlock are signets and trait pts in the precision line and equip trait that gives u +40 precision for each unused signet, at one point u’ll have 100% critical chance eventually this will be less effective on higher levels. Signet of healing is pretty good and will fully heal you pretty fast on low levels.

35-80 – when u reach 35 and every 10 levels or so you’ll be able to buy strong gear, power/precision which will help out a lot to kill things fast and level fast. you want to get the elite signet and use it every 60 seconds along with whirling blade and Rush (turn auto target off) for faster movement across maps. Killing will be easier to complete the objective than any other options.

Eventually you’ll want to switch to healing on adrenaline, for great justice, shake it off, and another one I used frenzy to kill stuff fast but up to you. remember to keep upgrading equipment (blue power/prec equip is fine you don’t have to go fancy)

I used greatsword and rifle for when im in trouble and need to back up. first build up on traits which are power/precision and burst line, the end build I was getting at was 20/30/0/0/20 but others could work just as well or better, build on adrenaline and greatsword traits.

Ofc do story line until lvl 50(after 50 they start taking long to complete)

There’s speculation that these will be increasing in price, better stock up while you can then maybe you’ll be able to make a huge profit and become rich.

Okay, we need to step it up folks.

Let’s put together a cross-server guild where we can spam the chat with any relevant events happening on any of the servers so we can all quickly join up and guest to take part in said event.

We know numerous things.

1) You must kill a boss.

2) It’s looted FROM a chest.

Therefore (I’m doing my discrete math homework as we speak) : The boss you kill drops or “upgrades” a chest.

3) It’s involved in an event.

Therefore, it is part of an event chain that spawns a boss which drops a chest.

4) “Amount of times run” means nothing if we’re talking anything less than thousands. That being said, he specifically said “5 or 10 times”, meaning someone might be on to something if they brought up having farmed a more rare event numerous times, specifically because he made a counter point to that.

It’s clearly not from an event that has been run into the ground tens of thousands of times, that much is for sure.

So, I’m going to start working on a list of chests dropped from bosses during events. Can we get someone to start a guild who’s active and can keep up to date on a roster/invite people who ask?

The first few of us who have joined are deciding on two servers to use for farming to switch back and forth between for doing events. The first we decided on is Desolation, second is still being decided on.

Keep in mind that by the description we were given the event must spawn a chest, the drop won’t come directly from the boss. Also the event must have a boss, so events without a boss that spawn a chest won’t be it.

Usually because a lot of necros go full rabid gear they aggro a lot. When I used to have a zerker set I would not aggro anything. Some light classes like Elementalist and Necromancer prefer to stack toughness because it benefits conditions therefore end up pulling aggro from guardians/warriors at times, making the fight somewhat less managable if they aren’t good tanks. Rabid builds are just not good tanks unless you hybrid with some HP.

Shadow has been farmed a lot in my server since the patch (yes by 80s), everytime the meta chain started it was killed in about 10 minutes. That’s why I thought I’d see the staff soon if he dropped it but still nothing, I’m sure a lot of servers are like this. Unless ofc the event is still bugged but it would be cruel for the dev to not tell us that it drops from an event that’s bugged, ofc it would narrow it down but then we are left with false hope if this is the case.

I also think it’s zho catacombs. Mainly because even after the theory was released nobody still does the event frequently. I did it about 10 times and usually solo because people do not know about it and they are more interested in balthazaar. After 10 times though it’s disheartening to keep doing it and spending about an hour soloing the event every time. Maybe we should gather a group of people to do it in a specific server every 2-3 hrs or whenever the event triggers. This way the loot is distributed among more people and the chance of it dropping is increased.

I’ve progressed that meta event to the final stage, but never actually completed it myself. I have seen it completed (I arrived just in time to see the conversation the wiki notes follows completion of the last step). However, I don’t think you can ever use the portal, and suspect there’s no chest from the boss.

Doing the final event (Destroy the Mark II golem) spawns a “Secure Container” chest and grants you access to the asura portal, which teleports you outside to the EVAC-U-ATOR 9000 karma merchant.

In that case, it seems like a perfect candidate for the drop. It’s so incredibly rarely done but grants a chest. Honestly, I’d be surprised if the grand total of times my entire server had completed it was more than 5.

Yeah it’s rarely done on my server too, last time I tried it i couldn’t figure how to get inside so I gave up, I think it might have to do with the inquest just in the path below holding a key to the lab but I aggroed a lot and died.

Simin’s getting a nerf soon (most likely next patch) so no point in doing this unless you’re in a rush to finish this path for some reason.

My thought is if you view the world map you can view multiple layers of the world…multiple surfaces. What if..some how..you get to another layer. Or if that is content to be released.

Another thought: What about those random portals you find in the world that port you to, seemingly, zones you cannot visit using normal methods of travel? There are events within these secluded areas. Wondering if its there.

I always wondered what that portal led to in the top left of manchor’s leap I think, there’s a portal underwater I tried getting in the base to no success, there’s also a waypoint always contested, Wiki has no info on it and couldn’t find anything through google.

use signets, greatsword, and 10 trait pts in precision to start off and get the trait that gives you 40 precision for each unused signet, then just 100b everything. If things go south back away and take your rifle and shoot away while the healing signets get your health back up.

Thieves got the best single target damage, warrior has great damage also and can damage multiple targets, they are both pretty close though. Warrior might be able to take a few more hits so thief is more risky.

3-2-1-4 are fastest. Of course if you’re new and don’t know how to do the fights and skip trash you’ll slow down the group. Takes practice to speed run arah.

Would be great to know more about, because the amulet I’m going to buy will not be utility slot if we dont get those…

edit: ok on the official site it says 5 new Utility Infusions so i guess we will get then sooner or later?
