Phase 2 is far too easy. Its phase 3 which is the problem. You dont even need to dodge the swipe in p2, just move behind him quickly. Anyway Im hoping DS will be enough to prevent me from downing when i run out of dodges.

You dont need flesh wurm. I was trying out my build the other week with 2 wells, signet of spite and plague form for phase switch. Endurance food + sigils of energy seems to be just about enough for phase 3. Its tricky though.

I attempted to do a solo the other week using my dungeon build. 2 energy sigils and endurance food is all you need. One extra evade will not save 10minutes off of your time, its your build that slowed you down. Anyway a rabid warrior solo’d lupi in 6mins 30seconds.
I dont fully like that he used a racial, and thats why i hope to beat his time without it but I may be a while. Cant solo lupi while recording at the moment, too much lag.
Yes it will because with the extra evade you have flexibility to use a more agressive build and have less room for error? He does his aoe in phase 2? dodge skill then dodge, then DS. phase 3? dodge skill? then dodge, maybe dodge again, switch weapons oh another move, dodge skill is back, dodge. Anyways waiting on your solo without the charr racial.

Ofc my build slowed me down, and I had to use that build because I didn’t have more room for error with a 15sec cd dodge skill which is used very well btw. What do you take when you don’t have that skill and the same build he had? You take flesh wurm as back up and with flesh wurm lupi will target it randomly on phase 3 and you will risk being bubbled. You can be my guest and try other skills and see how it works out for you what do i know right.

Yea easy mode, had i had that skill it would’ve saved me a lot of time and headaches when i soloed it lol, it gives the more complicated necro class way more room for flexibility in build and setup.

the reason emanuel soloed it faster was because of that cheap charr dodge 15sec cd skill thats godsend for necros on a solo ;p I couldve used a more damaging setup if i had that racial too.

Don’t need energy sigils on your weapons when in group. I two manned it a while ago and forgot to put energy weapons on so I’m sure it’s even easier with a group.

I’m liking the Scepter and Staff with the dark aura around them they are getting more and more attractive, I’ve been camping Tequatl for days now trying to get my hands on one of these, better yet they come in Rabid Gear it seems that they were made in thought of us. What do you think?

This is such a great game, but the way the living story works completely turns me away from it, I wonder how many I’ve missed by now. I’ve moved on from the game knowing what’s new is not for me, the last content they added that I enjoyed was fractals, I hope to login a few months from now and find something else than the new 2-week living story going on that makes me want to log off right away.

The reason the hit is so high is because undead berserkers take extra damage, about 2x I believe. Either way it is still the highest necromancer hit but it wouldn’t be as high say on a undead illusionist or warrior.

Unfortunately this has turned to be a casual friendly game with temporary content, it’s working the best for them so I don’t blame them. I don’t expect to see any difficult content until an expansion and even then there probably won’t be.

Yeah I’m pretty dissapointed in the way content is added in this game, temporary content with temporary stuff to buy from the store some with random chances, no thanks.

Necromancer is a mid-tier class in dungeons. They bring some good utility (wells/signet of undeath) and a lot of condition control. The problem is the way the game is designed to speed clear content for your reward and the condition cap really diminishes the necro’s condition capability.
Necromancer shines in survival and slowing down/blinding mobs for easier takeout. They also have great condition control and damage. I’d go as far to say that when bringing your condition dedicated class in your group go Necromancer because of the control it brings and epidemic, but that’s as far as it goes.
Because of the bleed cap multiple condition necros will be pulling back the team and power necros, though they can pull some great damage, they have no cleave, making any other melee cleaving class instantly better, this is not the case in many dungeons but in most it is.
I will go as far as saying that a Necromancer is the best class to solo dungeons because of its mechanics and flexible builds, I’ve soloed stuff that other classes would have no way of doing it. It’s just with teamwork that they start lacking more and more where the top tier classes bring so much more utility/damage/protection/healing.

If you are using windows movie maker, it’ll show laggy but the actual video when published will be much smoother, that’s what I do.

The easiest thing to do is to stay in scepter/dagger to maximize stacks. With decent condition duration you can get to 25 easy. What I usually do is Grasping Dead/Enfeebling Blood > Death Shroud > Have trait enfeebleing blood on DS (15s CD) then use Dark Path > Out of Death Shroud, blood is power, Dagger #4 or Staff #4. Then you can epidemic if multiple enemies or keep your stacks up there with Scepter #1. With decent condition duration you’ll get 25 stacks easy with that setup and 15 stacks on average with just scepter skills.

You can blame the living story content for it, I’m just glad the darn thing is over. Now maybe they can start reworking on dungeons/fractals, I’m still waiting for challenging content. Or they could just do some other story content that will last another 3 months.

If you play an Elementalist because of a specific build/skills then you never loved the class in the first place. I read the changes and find nothing that will break the class.

It’s okay according to a dev that answered a while back, though a lot of people frown on it. As long as you’re not kicking people to sell spots or cheating anyone it’s legit.

Input is much appreciated. Any idea what the highest sustained damage weapon is using a Power build? I think he has the capacity to deal with some melee if needed.

Dagger, of course you have to be melee and get your hits in. Very single target as it doesn’t cleave and you have to be on the enemies face so might not want to try it on a lot of silver/gold mobs.

You got a good class setup so it should be easier. In my experience after the first boss I would recommend you guys stack before the run, Guardian use Retreat, Mesmer can use Elite stealth, Ele can use AOE swiftness and chill/cripple enemies while running (when out of stealth), you might get hit with conditions/chill so make sure ele has condition removal on Water attunement. after going past the tunnel mesmer can cast veil for another stealth. Warriors should have bulls rush, endure pain and shake it off for more condition removal if necessary, along with greatsword/sword/warhorn for faster movement. Guardian can use staff #5 to hold mobs back. What you want to save your dodges for are the enemy mesmers single target attack/mesmers aoe, hunter’s bouncing attack and ele closerange chill. After these mobs you go through the center past the 6 walkers (if you’re too late and they are at center, figure best way around them), then back to the left mountain and hug the left wall, then go past the spiders that spawn when you enter the 2nd boss room and can LOS on top of the mountain to the left of the 2nd boss.
For Lupi I recommend as first timers for warriors to equip axe/shield to deal with the locust warms, shield to use against his aoe on phase 2, warriors can also whirlwind away from the circles while evading if they feel more comfortable with greatsword. Secondary probably rifle would be best. They can equip endurance regeneration, balanced stance and endure pain. for Elite use warbanner to res the tank mainly (whoever lupi is focused on)
Guardian can equip stability utility, wall of reflection (helps alot vs his AOE on phase 2), and whichever other utility u prefer, some prefer save yourselves, others retreat whatever you feel more comfortable., you can have scepter focus to range lupicus, immobilize him. Focus to protect vs AOE, Renewed focus also helps vs aoe. and shield #5 also absorbs his aoe projectiles as long as you stay inside and cast right before his aoe. You can also use the trait that casts the energy bubble when reviving as this will also destroy projectiles while you res.
Mesmer I would use greatsword to range lupicus, sword/focus with warden’s feed back trait. For utilities the teleport works well, stability mantra for his bubble just in case and feedback is a great tool to burn down lupicus faster. Feedback will reflect his giant aoe back to him dealing massive damage as long as someone is in the feedback bubble. Warden’s feedback trait allows your focus skills to also reflect his projectiles, though I wouldn’t rely on them as much as the feedback bubble. Mesmers can also cast feedback when reviving an ally with a trait. Elite would be Time Warp of course.
Elementalists have a skill that reflects projectiles on their focus so you can use that or they can use#3 on the staff on the earth attunement to protect themselves from projectiles, utilities cantrips are usually best with blink, earth armor and mist form. Elite I don’t think they are very useful I guess you can use an elemental to distract unless you feel really comfortable with the fight using the fire greatsword.
Some other tactics are, if lupi is after you stay away from people, if lupi is after you, don’t res downed people and if lupi kills a player, don’t res until phase 3 if you’re almost there. A lot of mistakes i see in pugs is everyone going to res a down player, then lupi shadowwalks/aoe and everyone goes down with the downed player. with traits from the guardian/mesmer where they cast a protective bubble when rezing helps a lot.
As for stats it depends on the players skill and knowledge with the boss, if you don’t feel really comfortable or feel like you’re going down too fast anyway then you might want to equip more tanky gear, but a lot of people can easily do it in berserker and it’s much faster, it’s what you feel more comfortable with but neither is fully right. Sigils of energy also help a great deal and regeneration food/undead potions.
There’s a very good video out there that explains the fight if someone could point you out I can’t remember the thread it was on.

It’s the dungeon design. There should be rewards for people that fully clear a dungeon. I remember in GW1 there were achievements and titles called Vanquisher titles that granted you extra bonuses, why not bring this to GW2? I’d love to get me a Vanquisher Title, or a special bonus like increased drops/exp/karma. Or extra tokens/items for vanquishing a dungeon. Say a special dungeon token that buys you ascended accessories for that specific dungeon for vanquishing a path. Of course there will be limits/DR associated but a system needs to be in place for example increased number of enemies in paths will grant more rewards, Say Arah path 4 vanquishing reward is far more superior than Cof path 1 vanquishing reward.
The way Vanquisher worked on GW1 was, there was a bar on top that filled as you defeat enemies, when you defeated all enemies you’ve Vanquished the instance, and you’d get bonuses/extra rewards.
Rewards for speed runners maybe? Daily, Weekly and Monthly, Yearly speed records of the dungeon are recorded and if you beat a specific you get a reward? Say you beat last months speed record you get an ascended item + goodies. Last weeks record? An exotic + goods and so on. By goods i mean, tokens/karma/exp/minis/black lion keys/items etc.
How about a Hard Mode also with it’s own vanquisher and speed achievements. Where rather mobs don’t have more HP but additional attacks. Lupicus single target bolt and siphon attacks inflict agony, he could also summon wells on phase 3, he spawns grubs on 2 people instead of 1, etc.. The abomination on arah path 2 inflicts agony if it knocks you down. Extra rewards for increased difficulty.
Just some ideas off the top of my head. I think things like these would make dungeons more appealing to all kinds of players.

I’d like for Ascended Rings/trinkets/accessories and backpiece to be released in regular dungeons and I would at least like for ascended amulet/accessories to be added to Fractals. Furthermore there needs other ways to acquire them, as even though I could spend a couple of hours doing dungeons I wouldn’t meet the daily requirement. It’s been over a month since I got a daily completed because I simply don’t enjoy gathering/events etc.

Berserker gear is Power/Precision/Crt Damage, it’s the most offensive oriented gear there is.
Though I don’t use minions with berserker, mainly because I love lich form on a power build too much and it sadly destroys my minions, in addition to that I have to invest in defensive trait lines for the minions, 30pts in soul reaping increase your crit damage by 30% and 10% in the precision trait is an increase in much needed critical chance. Though I do occasionaly switch the power trait that increases minion damage on specific fights, though rarely because they are very vulnerable to AOE and with no increased hp trait, they die quite fast.
Of course the exception is open world PvE, things just die much faster and they help a bunch against objects. You may also aggro a lot of stuff.

I find it amazing that people are actually defending minions not attacking.
However, I think we can all agree that even if minions did function properly 100% of the time, they still wouldn’t be worth using. Everyone thats started a necro to be a minion master has been majorly disappointed.
But hey, this is a game where the warrior class has better gun skills than the engineer class.
Disagree with your second statement. I have found that a bunker Minion build can pretty much make you immortal with permanent regeneration on you and your minions, healing well, over 2.5k toughness and 31k health while minions siphon health and still do great damage. I guarantee you nothing else will give you as much survival.
Though I did like the GW1 Minions better, but still they can be useful in situations.

About 2 weeks ago someone requested this path done as a Necro, since I’m a man of my word here it goes. Besides the Mesmer boss this was quite easy.

His threat varies during phases. On phase 2 he most likely goes after the person doing most damage to him, using shadow walk whenever he can, and using his melee attack on anyone trying to melee, this won’t prevent him from shadowwalking. The only time I was able to keep aggro on him was using my Zerker Mesmer with a lot of reflect, he didn’t shadowstep then only used melee and AOE
On phase 3 he will give priority to people in melee range, then go after someone with high toughness, however if no one with high toughness tries to take him he might keep after the same person he was on phase 2. If someone with high toughness takes his aggro he will probably attack the person he focused on phase 2 with his single target siphon. If there’s over 2 people in melee range he may switch targets to be able to cast his necrid trap. If he can’t seem to damage the person in melee he might switch targets for a bit.

which boss? To be honest most bosses in Arah can be meleed and they should, problem is people using LOS glitches to avoid dodging and boss mechanics :/
