When I was trying to get that achievement I could not find a whirlpool for the life of me. Once I got it, I can’t help getting pulled into the whirlpools every time I got to Teq, even when I try to avoid them. It’s like the game is toying with me. :p
Hate the whole idea of gliding coming to the core game(purchased not F2P). Can’t afford HoT. 1st they make it difficult for small guilds (trying to be polite, but difficult is a far tamer description of what I actually think) Now they bring Hot mechanics to the core, to rub more salt into the wounds.
Please don’t make this another one of those threads. The OP had a simple question. It’s been answered. Let’s just leave this one thread at that.
I’d love an option somewhere that enables some kind of auto-compact: I.e. compact my bags all the time, without me having to even click Compact. As soon as something is added/removed from my bags, compact them. Compacting works for me the way I have my bags set up and it would be even better if it were automatic.
I can only +1 on keyring.
Really annoying to get the fancy to go on a map (answering taxi LFG), with a character that doesn’t have the currency.
….or entering your home instance to farm the Found Bandit Chest, amongst other things, only to discover that it needs a bandit key and the alt you’re using doesn’t have any.
(And why does the Found Bandit Chest need a key anyway? It’s found! I took the time to complete it’s collection quest. It’s mine, tarnations! Who’s coming into my instance and locking the darn thing?!?!)
4 digit subtraction can be hard. Fourth grade math is OP. :-p
No, no.. it’s not that. I appreciate the math lesson. My head hurts cause I made a stupid off-hand point about how Pyrate claims that dividing days by 365 gives months and that didn’t seem right, and now I can see this spiralling out of control into an orgy of mathematical debate. That’s why my head hurts. I should have shut the up.
5 years = 1825 days
4 years = 1460 days
3 years = 1095 days
2 years = 730 days
1 years = 365 daysSo if you are 1121 days old that’s 1460-1121= 339 days away.
My head hurts
In the chat box type /age then when it tells you how many days old the char is just divide that number by 365. That is how many months old it is and then you can tell how many more months you have left before the next birthday. Not hard to figure out.
I like this idea and I don’t wanna do the math, especially when the math is wrong. I’m no math genius but if you divide by 365 isn’t that the number of years, not months?
The collections of collections are old hat. We need collections for collecting collections. And then collections of those.
I changed the title to include “[Suggestion]” within it so that it will be more easily spotted. Therefore, in case anyone had it bookmarked, I’m shamelessly bumping the thread to the top.
Just as an aside, it’s good to see more and more posts from you and the devs in these forums, Gaile. It’s appreciated. Keep it up!
uh they do? there is a camera distance slider, I use it all the time.
camera distance is not the same thing as view distance.
View distance is how far you can see into the distance, not how far the camera is from your character.
View distance is how far you can see before the fog stops you from seeing any farther.
My view distance must be set really close. The fog is so thick I can’t even see my cataracts.
….
Dailies, jumping puzzles, achievements, jumping puzzles, guild missions, jumping puzzles, mucking around, jumping puzzles …and for a bit of relaxation I do jumping puzzles.
Agree! And even more if the compact function could stack items of the same type together where possible.
I’d love this option too. Many’s a time I’ve seen a defeated player and run to their aid… only for them to vanish, sometimes even while I was ressing!
Sidious…. cause’s he’s doing things under the surface and nobody knows until it’s too late.
Damp Sidious?
Oooh! You’re good. Damp good.
Sidious…. cause’s he’s doing things under the surface and nobody knows until it’s too late.
I know this has been said before, but this screams for a queue system where you just tell it “I want to do DS” (or VB, or Teq, or whatever) and it finds you the next available slot on the most filled up server that isn’t already full. The onus shouldn’t be on players to look for taxis, or to provide taxis.
Maybe merging all these different wish list threads, summarising all the best ideas into a list on the wiki somewhere and giving some indication of which are being considered, which are/may be implemented, and which are flat out not going to be considered. So, just a small wish then.
Dry Top

Verticallity
Aww, dry top’s alright. The daily quartz mining’s a breeze.
But you remind me: I don’t like that I completed that Bandit Weapon collection to get a Found Bandit Chest in my home instance… and I have to unlock it with a bandit key each day! And there’s no key ring so I have to go into the home instance with the right toon who’s carrying the bandit keys.
I still don’t like ascended armor and I don’t suppose I ever will. Not the style, it’s very existence. I don’t think it was necessary for the game.
I don’t like the scribe profession as it was implemented. It’s too risky for most guilds to invest in, because if the scribe leaves, they’re out those mats.
I don’t like that everything uses the same mats over and over, creating an artificial scarcity that drives the prices so high.
I don’t like the increased latency I’m experiencing in Australia.
One more reasonable, though-out critique like that and you’re going to lose your white knight licence, buddy. Watch it.
I’ve always said I didn’t like ascended armor. I’ve always had my issues. I just don’t believe in hyperbole and I don’t believe that my likes are the only thing game design should be based on.
You can see why devs make certain decisions while not personally liking them.
Don’t mind me, Vayne. It was just a little joke about white knighting. I should have put a winking emote on it or something. Have a good day.
re: They haven’t listened or fixed any of it unfortunately. – Go look at Elementalist auras. They’ve backed off some of the changes. The egg shape isn’t as narrow, and most of the effects have returned. They’re still harder to see than they used to be, but they’re better than they were. So they are listening at least a little, and are fixing things at least a little.
And we need them to know that’s good, and we need more of that.(Listening, and fixing these visual nerfs.)From the Reddit article mentioned above about the visuals apparently, there is aura nerf coming soon? Anyone know about this?
There’s …a nerf to the already nerfed auras…?!
On the subject of keys, why does the Found Bandit Chest in my home instance need to be opened with a key, when I already completed the collection quest to get it?
And given that it does, it’s really annoying to be playing some alt, go into that alt’s home instance and discover that you don’t have any bandit keys on that alt. If you must force me to unlock the bandit chest, at least an account wide key ring would make this less frustrating.
Whoah there, buddy. Take it easy with all this talk about making things optional and toggle-able. That’s just not how we do things around here.
I like a great many things about gw2.. but not these (in no particular order):
1. The combat slowdown. I know the reasons why, but it still bugs me.
2. Skills not firing on a target in action camera mode unless you’re looking at them, even if you have them targeted.
3. The latency in Australia.
4. Auto-targeting of neutral critters.
5. Currencies taking up inventory space instead of being in the wallet.
6. Having to shell out to web browser to see event timers, guild missions or browse the wiki for some information. Surely there could be some simple web browser in-game that could at least display the wiki.
7. When the “New Event Nearby” message pops up and there’s no indicator on the map of where the event is.
8. The various UI popups that appear unexpectedly and take mouse control away, causing you to spin around uselessly in the middle of a fight.
9. The ESL/PVP ads in the top-right corner that you can’t get rid of.
10. The lack of ‘Consume All’ options on all bulk consumables.
11. The guild treasurer being unable to look in my bank/mat storage.
12. Being forced to join an order…. and permanently at that.
13. The pointless/wasted deaths of mentors.
14. NPCs with repetitive inane dialogue. You know the ones.
15. Invisible walls.
16. Destiny’s Edge, those soap-opera drama queens.
I still don’t like ascended armor and I don’t suppose I ever will. Not the style, it’s very existence. I don’t think it was necessary for the game.

If this thread isn’t accomplishing anything, why are they backing off the aura changes? As to why these have been stealth mods that are totally not in the patch notes, that’s another good question. :/
Haven’t been to the forums in a few days, and was surprised to find this on the third page. Has something happened to auras to make them better?
I think the issue here is that after over 800 replies, we quite possibly put up every manner of meaningful input existent to this problem. If there was ever a time to make a response (or to allow a response, in case Forbidden Topics are a thing), this is probably the time. All latest posts from players in this topic, and all player posts from now on, were and will inevitably be a repetition of what has already been said here, there is nothing more we can add.
Ne’er a truer word spoken.
Summary: Everything wrong with the GHs
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Zoltar MacRoth.7146
Excellent points, all of them. I’m especially frustrated by the limited interface of the treasurer. I want to donate to my guild, but you make it sooooo hard.
I think the next elementalist specialization should be Ninja.
Ninjas are said to have control of the five elements: Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Void/Sky/Heaven
Elementalists already have the elemental attunements, would only need to add a 5th attunement.
Plus it would be something the ele doesn’t really have, melee and it could use the deception skills from thief.
Sword for the weapon.
Edit: Maybe they should use greatsword instead, since katanas are 2h weapons.
What’s your source on that statement that ninjas have control of elements? I’ve never heard that attributed to them before and I’m curious.
The traditional ninja – master of espionage, sabotage, infiltration and assassination – seems a better fit for the thief profession, although the daredevil already seems like a pretty close ninja facsimile.
Line up those chairs, already! They’re bugging me, just from your description.
re: at this point they should just come out and declare “Diz da visualz now, bro! Dealz with it!!” – Casting my vote for “I think this is absolutely not what they should do.”
re: chutzpah – chutzpah is not something you use on your customers.
My overall impression is, they’re going to leave everything the way it is until they figure out what they’re going to do, or decide just to move forward without altering their original plan. Either way, we won’t get any kind of communication until it is allowed, probably just before release.(or with release in patch notes)
Well, maybe something more Shakespearean then, like:
“A wretched soul, bruised with adversity,
We bid be quiet when we hear it cry;
But were we burdened with like weight of pain,
As much or more we should ourselves complain.
…..Oh, and the nerfs are staying. Sorry.”
Maybe a crazy little idea for elementalist: a specialisation that works with no weapons.
With your bare hands, you manipulate the very forces of reality not unlike a ..uhm.. certain monastic order of sci-fi monks from a popular franchise. Wield skills that let you lift an enemy in the air and throw them away like a rag doll. Or choke them from a distance. Or just persuade them that you’re not the elementalist they’re looking for. (Caution: only works on the weak-minded). Stop projectiles in mid-air with a wave of your hand, then throw them back. Make environmental bundles fly into your hand.
But if you’re feeling a little naked with this spec, you can always use a sword.. just one at a time, either one-handed or both. Your sword will develop a primary color glow when you hold it. You’ll be able to choose the color in the Dye tab according to your preference. Maybe blue, maybe red. Maybe green if you’re feeling mysterious. Just don’t use purple. That’s a bit naff. The sword will make a buzzing sound when you equip it, as if it’s charging up. One of your skills will be throwing the sword at your enemy and having it return to your hand. The warrior greatsword skill (4?) already does this so it won’t take much coding to implement.
Additionally, when you equip this specialisation, your toon’s dialogue develops an unusual quirk of voicing the verb at the end of each sentence. Away, the pain you will wash. The burn, you will feel. If you happen to don a helmet, your dialogue resumes normal sentence structure but your voice develops a deep, gaspy mechanical tone. And all your armour will be automatically dyed black for some reason.
May the mists be with you.
I’m reasonably certain that this thread is on a “Forbidden Topic” list.
I hadn’t thought of that, but you could be right.
It’s such a shame. I really like a lot of the things coming in the 2016 update and I really like seeing the increasing number of dev/gaile posts in various threads. They’re doing some good work. They’re getting things right in other places. But the lack of any response on this thread is an elder-dragon sized elephant in the room and I feel disappointed for them. It just gives the impression of …well… I really don’t want to say cowardice, but I can’t think of another word. Heck, at this point they should just come out and declare “Diz da visualz now, bro! Dealz with it!!”
That at least would be ballsy and I respect a good chutzpah.
Idol: Elementalist elite. Has a pop theme mechanically based off boons and would somewhat be like chronomancer but without the base mesmer stuff and have a different rhythm and boonset to it to avoid obsoleting chronomancers or making taking an idol and chronomancer redundant.
Maybe it’s recent events, but as soon as I read this, I imagined David Bowie as an elementalist, weaving his musical magic and looking awesome doing it. What if, instead of attunements, you used the F1-F4 keys to channel different Bowie characters? E.g. press F1 to become a Ziggy Stardust and conjure martian spider elementals. Your weapon would be the newly added Guitar, a two handed weapon which slaughters foes at range with blistering musical numbers and can be used as a club at melee range.
I love collecting these converters and they do look swish in my inventory.. but I also like the idea of one ultimate converter, especially the part where you have the converters like Mawdrey taking the mats from your material bank not just your person. It’s so annoying to have to keep the dragonite, bloodstone and emp frags in inventory for my critters to eat. Good concept.
This is a fantastic idea! I can’t afford it.. but it’s still fantastic being able to share between your toons. I have a new goal… and lots of farming to do.
I’m only a simple man with simple tastes… and I’m not ashamed to say that this update has a few things that are getting me excited: gliding, new shatterer achievements, fractal lfg and ui improvements, event participation through non-dps activities, squad improvements, the Brew of the Month Club!, some control improvements and the Lunar New Year event!!
There’s enough promise there for a filthy casual like me to keep busy for a while.
You could Rollerscate in Ascalon and Pogostick in Orr for all I care
No, you can’t. Orr has a lot of uneven terrain unsuited to pogo-sticking, not to mention all the holes a pogo-stick could get stuck in. Due to it’s long submersion a lot of Orr is also covered with various forms of spongy coral, which doesn’t provide the bounce needed for proper pogo-stickery.
And as for rollerskating in Ascalon? I presume you mean around the Black Citadel, since outside the city the roads are unpaved and would be hell on your wheels and ankles. But rollerskating in the capital cities would be a lot of fun. Good idea!
@kite – I’m curious how you’ll feel about it if gliding does come to central tyria. Will you staunchly refuse to use it or will you backflip?
Ironic name, btw.
I love the Halloween & Wintersday events!
If you like these ones you should have seen them 3 years ago, when they were truly spectacular.
I miss the Mad King’s Labyrinth so much. If only there was some quest-acquired or gemstore artifact that could teleport you to the labyrinth all year round. Oh, Labby Horror! Where art thou?
I feel like you could have squeezed a pun about “facetime” in there somewhere.
Maybe if we gave them something positive to comment on, like is it just me, or does FPS at Frozen Maw/Svanir Shaman not drop like a stone these last few days? Has there been some stealth optimization there?
The thing to remember here is that this is a customer/supplier relationship with all that entails. We’re not dating anet. We are not responsible for wooing them into a conversation. They have a professional obligation to communicate with their customers, as any business does.
You made an excellent point a few posts back: maybe they don’t know how to enter this conversation at this point. You offered an example they could use. Let me offer something too: just say anything, anet. It doesn’t matter what at this point. Even if it’s insulting, ingratiating, patronising. Make a bad joke. Start with a corny line like “Hey, what’s a nice player like you doing in a forum like this?”
Just say something. When you’ve posted once, the next post will be much easier. And the next. You’re not required to make a perfect first post. That’s not possible. Whatever you say somebody’s going to be kittened. But many are going to be happier just because you’re talking. So say anything, and keep saying anything. As your first-date nerves die down, the conversation will get easier and more productive.
What elite spec is that? He can use rifle!!!
That’s not a real Rifle. It’s an environmental weapon from Township of Claypool. He was doing the “Hold, Hold, Hold, Fire!” Heart event.
I laughed pretty hard at this one.
Also, what legend do you think he channels?
The legend of Oscar… loool
Is that a Power or a Condi build lol?
Is that the legend where the elite turns you into a big, golden, invulnerable statue?
aren’t most JPs just opional anyway?
There have been complaints about things like mastery points being gated behind jumping-related activities and there’s always the gripe about having to do NSS to complete the dive achievement.
I’m just asking for some jps where the only thing you get at the end is the achievement of finishing the jp. Nothing else should be gated behind them so nobody who dislikes jps would have to do them. Win/win for all.
New jumping puzzles, but with nothing important gated behind them so nobody has to do them. Just pure optional jumping fun for us jump enthusiasts.
You can say no to gliding. I’ll wave to you as I fly over you.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – all I want from the next expansion is a mastery track that lets me wear my hat at a jaunty angle.
Uh.. that’s not exactly what I meant. But in the interests of getting back on track, let’s just say there’s room for improvement in the home instance farming and using npcs was one suggestion. Moving on.
Here’s another idea: in the theme of Princess, Mawdrey II and the Star of Gratitude, how about an item that, when clicked, would farm all the nodes in your home instance and put their mats in your inventory, consuming some reasonable amount of silver in the process. Only usable once a day obviously, and doesn’t count towards dailies. Maybe it could be crafted by combining the Home stone with some other items which you would have to find throughout the world, like the Mawdrey quest.
I’m not sure it is a failure at all. HoT added a lot of things that are pretty decent.
#1: Harder enemies. I’ve been wanting that for awhile.
#2: Elaborate maps and more involved maps. Always a good thing.
#3: A metroid style of progression where you gain the ability to explore new areas.
#4: The elite specializations are awesome (if a bit power-creepy), and I like playing as most of them.
#5: A large series of collections and achievements for completionists.
#6: Some pretty cool looking skins.
#7: Events that are actually fun to do.So, I like the xpac, and from what I’ve heard it has sold really well, so I wonder what your standard of failure is.
I would consider at least half of the HoT masteries to be failures.
It starts well enough in the gliding line but then we get low effort fillers like <whatever> language/proving/assistance. Look! You can now click on this other vendor tab. So exciting. You can also fight these champions once a day. The fights aren’t really different from anything else and the loot is mostly junk but it is there …
Fun events … I can think of two, the patriarch in VB and Mouth of Modremoth in DS.
Actually I consider this mastery point a success, not a failure. The idea was the give people masteries they needed, so they could gradually aquire the other ones without having to worry about grinding. Imagine the outcry if the last mastery in the line was gliding instead of the first.
There are reasons for certain design decisions. In my mind, this was well done.
I’m still confused why you can talk to the frog tribes during the story but you can’t understand their vendors until you master the language. Are the frogs speaking some common Tyrian language (Tenglish?) in the story that the vendors aren’t familiar with?
wipes tear from eye So long.. I’ve waited so long to find a kindred spirit.
