Is it just me or is gliding disabled in home instances? And why?!? They’re just instanced sections of cities we’re already gliding in. Why can’t I glide between my candy corn node and my wintersday tree?
Is the new DS the trait equivalent of Force Awakens?
This has been raised repeatedly because it’s such an obvious oversight, and many clever ideas have been suggested for it – I can’t find the most recent thread right now but it’s worth looking for if you’re interested. Hopefully, this will be remedied soon.
I have a question.
1 slot for my copper salvaging machine. Fine.
But can I use the mining and gathering tools on different toons if I fill that slot with them, with them being equipped, or do I have to unequip every time I switch characters? Because if I have to unequip I’ve no idea what to do with them; it’s the same as sticking it in a bank and forgetting about it which I am want to do.
I put a set of permanent tools in the account wide slots.
Now, what I did was give each char one set of orichalcum level tools. You need that to have a way to swap easily. Then when I choose the char I’m playing on, I swap out the ori tools for the permanent tools by clicking on the permanent tools in the inventory. At the end of playing on that char I open up the inventory and swap tools again by clicking on the ori tools in the inventory, putting the permanent tools in the account wide slots.
This is far faster than waypointing to a bank, unequipping the tools, putting them in the bank, then with the next char you play, waypointing to a bank, taking the tools out of the bank and equipping them then waypointing to the map you want to play in.
It’s a matter of getting in the habit of putting the tools back in inventory when you’re done.
How much would you pay for an account-wide permanent harvesting tool?
the way I got the dive was to stand on the ledge just below the goggles where you can still put them on…this allows you to get a better look at where you are jumping
Yes, that was it for me too. Stand on the little pipe just below the ‘cloud layer’.
Yes, this is basically the only way to do it for non-professionals. Ignore the videos and stay on that little pipe. You can view about half way around the mountain, so you can almost jump right towards it.
And, be a mesmer traveling with mesmers. You’re going to fall an ungodly number of times before you actually get the title.
Then, when you do, stay up there and earn a few gold. Make a portal, waypoint, run back in, and port other players for tips.
For …non-professionals…? Who are the professionals?
I did it from the top. grins
Haha! So professionals do it from the top? Well then…..

I like the arena design
That surprised me. There’s only one arena (am I mistaken about that?) and it looks like some kind of sewer reminiscent of earlier FPS games. It wouldn’t be bad amidst an assortment of arenas, but being the only one it quickly gets onerous getting killed again and again… (because of the other issues you mentioned)… in a sewer. A small sewer.
A vehement response like that might suggest that you are using one of these. But then again I do work in network security and that just makes you suspect in my eyes.
I’d be all for it for both Buying and Selling. Make it at random intervals too.
Random intervals is a nice idea. I am sure anet can come up with a fast, easy and not annoying solution.
You made me smile.
No… I go there to do what I want to do and what everyone else is doing doesn’t interest me at all. The last 2 times (out of a total of 3) I went there, the event failed, and I was perfectly fine with that. I got 4 achievements out of it and that was for the “work” I did. No one else contributed to that or carried me.
Nice so you go to do such events to get achievements and not to participate in the events themselves. Selfish much?
Your conceit bugged me so much I’ve decided that for the next month I’m going to attend every shatterer and only do the achievements. If I see you, I’ll wave.

I’ve just made enough characters to get the arrows on the sides of the line of photos to scroll them. How much nicer would it be if I could see them all displayed at once, in a grid or something at least? So much real estate on that screen going to waste.
I don’t know anything about them and I feel cavalier about the whole thing.
Jumping puzzles. Do all the jumping puzzles. Do them again and again until you know them by heart. That’s where the action is.
I find it difficult to get to some of the vistas lol.
I was half-joking there. I enjoy jps a great deal, but they’re not for everybody. There’s plenty else to do. You can get some ideas on the wiki, join random parties in LFG and see what happens or just wander about the world joining in with any people you find.
And if you need some help with those vistas, you’re welcome to message/email me in game. Maybe I’ll even convince you to do a jp.
Can someone explain a logical reason why you would ever hold down the jump key (without gliding)?
I never did it because it’s just useless key pressing which doesn’t do anything and delays your next jump because you need to release the key first to press it again.
I don’t even understand how you can get a habit like this because it’s just extra strain on your thumb when holding the key.
I don’t know why you word it like there’s something abnormal about it but if you want some reasons I’ll tell you mine:
Firstly, I grew up playing computer games where holding down the jump key determines how far you jump and many games still do. It makes no difference in gw2 but, until now, it also didn’t matter and it’s mentally easier to keep to one method across the most games.
Secondly, when you’re making a difficult jump in a jp, pressing and holding down forward+jump is simpler than pressing forward+jump, then releasing jump. The latter takes an extra mental tick. I got into the habit of holding and releasing both together and it’s served me well. But times change and now I’m learning to just tap the jump key.
Incidentally, I also use the Shift key for jumping (pressed with my little finger) rather than tapping the spacebar with my thumb. I’ve always found the spacebar to be clumsy, or my thumb is clumsy. One or the other.
Jumping puzzles. Do all the jumping puzzles. Do them again and again until you know them by heart. That’s where the action is.
I could understand if burn effects structures but the other conditions shouldn’t really effect them (how do you make a wall bleed?)
This is a slippery slope. How does a stone golem bleed or burn. How does an asuran golem bleed or burn. How does an elementalist use fire skills under water? Why do we have chairs if we can’t sit on th-… Wait, no.
How does my toon drink 10,000 drinks without taking a toilet break?!? Where does it go????
There is a thread in the general forum related to this.
Maybe sort-of tangential, but why does the character screen start with only displaying your last-player toon and no panels until you actually move your mouse over the toon? It seems pointless. It did however, lead me to think that it wouldn’t be pointless, and be very cool, if the character screen started with all your toons displayed, standing together like the character creation screen does with all the races. Might be a tad difficult for those with 20+ toons – where it might be best to just show the last 10 used or something. But it would be cool to see my toons standing side by side like a team of kitten super heroes.
I’d also like some way to distinguish between safe and unsafe boxes – since the borders indicate rarity, why not use the backgrounds to indicate safety?
Good idea. It’s something you already see in graphics settings windows for graphics cards. It would make it so much easier to play with higher graphics wherever possible and lower them for world boss battles. I’ve had QoL ideas on the mind recently, so I’m going to take the plunge and even suggest the option of assigning keys to different graphics modes (e.g. B for best, U for user) or at least assigning one key to cycle between the various modes.
I’d like to suggest the opposite option – if you open a chest in the game world and it gives you more loot than you have room for, rather than displaying the encumbered window, I’d prefer to just have a bag pop into my inventory with all the loot in it, which I can open at my own leisure. Sometimes you need to grab loot on the run, or you’re attacked while looting and the encumbered window is just a nuisance. Just my 2c.
I agree with this. Yes, I know just tapping the jump key doesn’t open the glider and I’m slowly learning to do that, but why not a simple toggle as well to turn off the glider at will? Just another little QoL that doesn’t hurt anyone who doesn’t want to use it.
A glider skin that looks like rocket boots. Please. Please.
Well, to answer your first question… the coral in Tyria is saturated with magic which causes it to have a high affinity for manganese which it absorbs through the catalytic reaction of phosphites in an aquatic environment highly saturated with Quaggan urine and when that coral is also subjected to the acidity of Krait sweat (a rare occurrence) it triggers a catalytic reaction which bonds the oxygen in the water with the manganese in the coral to produce manganese dioxide.
Basic science. QED.
They’ve been more and more vocal on other threads… I’m cautiously hopeful they’re working up to addressing this thread.
It’s a hard game to get into for a brand new dragonball player. Or, it’s a hard game to enjoy at first… as people have noted, it’s easy for one side to dominate. When you’re new and on the losing side, there’s very little fun in it and it takes a lot of patience to keep trying.
For a start, there’s no real instructions. When you ask the vendor about it, all you get is a paragraph that dragonball is a fun sport. Inside the game, there’s a brief bit of text explaining that your usual powers are removed, but with no explanation of what powers you’ll be getting. You’ll have to work those out when you find the orbs, while getting shot at by players already much better than you. A little glossary of the orbs in the opening text would be useful.
You’ll probably wonder for a long time, as I did, why my shots seemed to miss enemies at point blank range while they were able to hit me from across the arena even when I was moving. That’s because I was using the basic shot, whereas my opponent (there was only one on my first go, and he completely dominated me) was using the super shot, which I only found later. With the super shot I started to make some progress and that sick feeling began to slowly turn to some feeling of improvement.
People have compared this to snowball mayhem. Some have even told me this is more fun. I find that strange. Snowball mayhem had a large arena with varying terrain and plenty of flexibility in how you want to play. It had three classes with very different tactics and each with 5(?) weapons. Dragonball takes places in a small sewage system where everyone is using the same five weapons, if you can even get them before an opponent or even an ally grabs them. As a newb, I spend most of my time with only the basic dragon shot, trying to keep up with my team mates and wondering how opponents are insta-killing me.
Like anything else, it’s going to take practice. I’ll keep at it. But in my heart of hearts, I can’t help but wonder…. where is my kamehameha?
It’s fun… but what it needs is aerial dogfights. You have branded gryphons there. They fly down to fight us. Why can’t we fight them in the air? Imagine flying over the Shatterer screaming over teamspeak, “I have a bogey on my tail! I can’t shake him! I can—aaaaaargh..”
I keep getting the message about learning glider basics on the pads at Lowland burns, though I have glider basics and more. Does the message not check whether you have glider basics before it pops up? I assume you wouldn’t keep getting the sawgill mushrooms message after you trained enough to use them.

Oh dear. That’s taking the thigh gap too far. I blame Miley Cyrus.
You’ve worded it just fine and it’s such an obvious and tedious problem it’s amazing it was released this way. Option #2 has been suggested before and it’s a good one. The guild treasurer SHOULD look in your material storage without you having to move stuff around to make it easy for him.
If I squint, I think I can see an /s in there.
As someone who’s just made a revenant and is learning to play it, I have to ask….. can you shed some light on what exactly you don’t like about it? You don’t offer any details in your post.
Sword AA got nerfed hard, supposedly the power got moved to the 2 and 3 skills but they bug out so much it won’t matter. The facet of light got a cast time meaning you can’t use it when CC’d now, despite the obvious animations and icon, shield 5 healing was nerfed, the teait that granted stab after dodge was given a 5 second ICD, when really it was the GM trait in Herald that gave an extra stack of stab when you got stab that needed the ICD.
In addition, thief and necro were buffed, necro Moreso and as a necro main I can say we didn’t need THaT MUcH boon corrupt. Since rev has next to no Condi clear and relies on resistance for fighting condies he’ll be eaten alive by necromancer. And with thief damage buffs he won’t be able to trade with a thief much anymore. Finally ventari and Jalis, the two legends who need buffs to be usable, received none, which sucks because ventari is just a couple small buffs away from being a good legend (needs his salvation line cleaned up) and Jalis had no stunbreaker unless you burn 50 energy for a 1.25 second cast time for Rite of the Great Dwarf. And again with us necros getting so much boon corruption, a Hearld rev is just a ticking time bomb for us.
Thank you for the explanation.
Might want to edit your title, since you’re just talking about race change. And yeah, as was already said, race change isn’t likely to ever happen.
I put sex in there to make it more accurate
And how does that make it more accurate?
So people know what I’m talking about.
I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. That wasn’t meant to sound mean. It just seems you’re confused about what ‘sex’ means.
As someone who’s just made a revenant and is learning to play it, I have to ask….. can you shed some light on what exactly you don’t like about it? You don’t offer any details in your post.
Maybe change the title of the post to something like “[Suggestion] Action camera improvements”?
Why luck only IF you have maxed account mf and not before? Or am I misreading?
Luck has a purpose before you max MF and then none after, just as XP has a value until you reach L80 (core) or max masteries (HoT).
Would it be so bad if you received luck before maxing mf? It would come from a whole lot of work collecting xp, just as you currently get luck from salvaging stuff you collect from a whole lot of work.
I think it would be cool if they took player designs. Maybe they could use a name from the player who submitted it for the weapon name.
The Flaming Greatsword of Just A Flesh Wound. I would buy that one.
The Hard Wood Staff of Zoltar…. uhm…
So when are we getting this one? I want it
Where are you going that you die 8+ times without passing by an anvil?
i dont want to pass by an anvil
Why not? They are all over the place; they are hardly out of the way. I have yet to find myself in an HoT map for more than 20 minutes without passing them by.
Yeah… but those anvils are always contested.
I like many love wandering about tyria doing a little farming/gathering/events but feel now that its not very rewarding and poor design that I gain XP, but it disappears into the void now that my masteries are maxed. A good example is resurrecting npc and players, you now do not get rewarded for this at all in effect.
What I would like to see is a simple ‘Experience Mastery’ line that we can switch to that reenables our xp bar, and gives a spirit shard each time we fill the bar. Thoughts?
You could take this a stage further and show how many Experience Mastery points a player has gained to add more value without impacting elsewhere.
They deliberately divorced spirit shards from direct experience gain, as a way of reducing the supply of them (which has a powerful impact on the relationship between Tn and Tn+1 materials, e.g. promotions from T1 green wood and T2 soft).
However, I do advocate them offering something for when people have maxed out a reward chain, e.g.
- XP per virtual level, after maxing masteries (or if you don’t own HoT, maybe)
- Luck, if you have maxed account Magic Find
It would have to be similar to the low-value rewards given for using ascended material ‘eaters’, i.e. a mix of miscellaneous low-value items, with tiny chances for something more substantial.
Why luck only IF you have maxed account mf and not before? Or am I misreading?
I would totally design a weapon skin that looks like it’s pixelated to censor something.
could actually have a couple experience mastery lines, 1 awards a writ, 1 awards a random luck and 1 awards a shard.
Hmm.. and when one was full it would give you what it offers and reset to zero so you can fill it up again? That’s clever. Not only is your xp not going to waste but you can actually choose what it’s going towards.
How do the weapons even stick to our backs? Is it magnets? I bet it’s magnets.
I guess it’s magic.
Wouldn’t it look better if the mace itself was located on the back or perhaps whole hammer being upside down?
Invisible latches. You can hear it click to unlatch when you go to wield it.
Ahhh! I thought that was my gummy knee.
I would recommend a Writ of Experience each time you reach full exp.
So you atleast get 5% of it back to use on another character.
+1 I like that idea. Simple yet elegant.
I want my Fireball back.
I want my Overload Air cloud+effects back.
I want my Tempest Shout effects back.
The Auras I can live with.
Most of all, I want SLIDERS.
I’m starting to think sliders were some kind of ancient technology that has been lost in the mists of time and the current devs don’t know how to recreate them to provide us with the flexibility of choosing our own effects.
Why not mention this on the merged thread where it belongs and keep that thread on the front page where it belongs?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Visual-nerfs-Merged/page/17#post5935290
Interesting as this could be, the amount of game content that would be destroyed or massively changed by something this big is too much, I’d say.
I like a good time-travel story as much as the next person, but I’d rather focus on the Elder Dragons than to make GW2 a time-travel story centered on the Searing. There are always more interesting stories to tell than resources will allow.
I like a good time-travel story too… and especially one where the would-be time changer discovers that instead of fixing the past, he was the reason it happened that way. Har har. We go back in time to stop the searing and end up being that catalyst that causes it. Suck that, hubris!
How do the weapons even stick to our backs? Is it magnets? I bet it’s magnets.
Have you tried guild missions/bounties/puzzles?
EDIT: I just discovered that you’ve posted this same thing twice, under different titles. Suggestion: don’t do that.
EDIT: Thank you for closing the other duplicate thread.
