yep I always write out kitten. I’ve found myself doing it on other forums as well… people are usually very confused lol.
No doubt about it, someone attempted to manipulate the market, and so far it is a spectacular failure. Several Dusks sit at 2k asking prices while sales are happening in the 1200-1600 range. Those sellers will end up eating the listing fees (around 100 gold each) in order to actually sell the Dusks.
i’m not sure how this is a failure. It looks like the guy bought 2-3 dusks at around 1000g. He relisted at least one at 2000g. The price then fell back down but seems to have stabilized at 200g higher for buy orders and 600g higher for sell orders. Assuming he isn’t dumb he relisted the 2000g dusk and sold the other 2 dusks at around 1500g each making an overall profit of 4500g*.85-3000g-100g (listing fee from first list) = 725g profit in less than 24hrs…
seems like a spectacular success in manipulation to me.
Of the many many problems with this update this is not one of them… I got 8 yellows from my blade shard bags, if they were tradeable they would have been selling for 2-3c each, what did you expect to trade them for? Green’s and yellows was more generous than I thought they would be.
They just finished nerfing the last of the gold generating methods in the game. Pretty much the only way to get gold in a reliable manner is either a- playing the TP or b- with a credit card.
Hence the announcement.
Yeah, or running dungeons.
Or doing world bosses.
Or gathering materials and sell.
1. Nerfed with ferocity changes and dungeon changes. approximately 20% less gold per hour than before, currently still the best g/hr availible actually playing the game. Will likely be nerfed again soon.
2. Nerfed to oblivion with Mega server changes, over a 60% nerf, no longer viable
3. Also nerfed with mega server changes. Still viable for lower tier mats, no longer viable for T6.
The methods are getting less and less, and the output is getting smaller. Coincidentally, you can get more gold than ever from your credit card!
Anet is systematically removing all underwater areas from the game until they can ultimately remove underwater combat entirely. So this has about 0.00000000001% chance of happening.
First they removed 90% of the water from WvW. Then they removed 100% of the water from sPvP. It is only a matter of time before the LS introduces something that drains the water from PvE.
What is the theory on the demand POST patch of this? I can understand speculation ahead of it but now that it is among the most expensive mats to exchange why are people still buying it in droves? It is the cheapest mat in value but I believe in rationality… what am I not seeing?
most people aren’t rational.
Well unfortunately all of my stockpiles are in refined mats, so i’m still waiting for a more permanent fix and the introduction of 500 JC. Hopefully people actually use up some of the mats this time around instead of just trading them back and forth.

The catchers are a rare drop from the zepher boxes this year. They have about a 1 in 10,000 chance of dropping. Happy opening!
You will find it much easier this year if you did it last year. Ascended gear + camera changes + AOE changes = easy mode.
Took me 50 tries last year to beat it. Did it on try 2 this year.
I’m going to go ahead and guess that the OP didn’t actually do the fight.
1. The dome is gone so the camera is no longer an issue.
2. The AOE circles were changed to solid bright orange and are very easy to see now
3. The adds spawn in different corners, if you are standing where they spawn you will get blown up.
It varies as the market changes. Last night iron ore and gossamer scraps were the cheapest, not sure what the prices are this morning though.
There is currently a chat code in the game that is causing anyone who mouses over it to crash. Please correct immediately, thank you.
doing what else? They removed most of the champs from the game and made the world bosses spawn at absurdly slow times with their mega server nonsense.
if by doing something else you mean playing another game… then yes I think that is what they want, they were advertising that you go play wildstar on their facebook page last week.
You were only ever fighting the camera and the floor, the fight itself was always easy. dodging things you couldn’t see and having your camera stuck in the corner was the challenge. That and the bugs.
If you can get rewards in the game then why would you spend $100 a month in the gem store?
Anet has nerfed every farming idea/location ever found in this game without fail.
Thick Leathers are now at 48c. Price is moving upward and slowly due to price walls.
I for one am excited to see how far it goes up. I don’t think it’ll go as far as +1S, but I’m hoping at least 60c.
I don’t know why anyone is buying any at all… even if it dropped back to vendor price it is still 3x more expensive than most of the other options…
Well if there is one thing Anet knows how to do it is destroy good things and make them worse.
DR, PvP “revamp”, World bosses, megaservers, WvW, loot… at least they are consistent I guess…
probably a bug. or the decrease in gem store sales has led them to more money grabbing tactics.
Darnit.
I also just realized that I have enough leather to crash the market back to 8c buy orders. Heck, there are a total of 800,000 buy order listings right now. I have 500,000 leather to dump! :\
looks like you can get rare season 1 items from those boxes, prices might be going up after all.
i’m still downloading… what items can you trade in?
Finally! and there was much rejoicing!
looks like the boxes contain season 1 rare items (windcatcher skins and others).
As well as the original quartz and recipes.
Hmm I just hope that the cost-reward ratio is enough to push the price of leather further. Right now the price jump is from speculation. Oh well
Danke!
edit: BTW can you do me a favor..can you please tell me the quantity of leather at each price that shows on the buy order tab? I.e. is there a huge price wall of 500,000 units at 34c?
there was 900k at 30c, when I logged off 20 minutes ago it was holding at 40c, with about 180k supply left.
If you have thick leather I hope you are selling it… it is about to go above 30c…
well if you can get these tokens via mat trading then I suspect prices will rise much more than last year. Hopefully they redid the mat prices though. Hopefully we can use refined mats as well this year.

This is why. You can trade in leather sections for special boxes full of items during this event.
Moa form exists in this game solely to screw over necros. It can be used to completely neutralize a necro. It ends all necro elites, AND it kills all necro minions. a MM that gets hit by moa is a very sad MM indeed.
Biggest way to kill speculation:
250 bloodstone dust for a box. No one will need TP mats at all.
I wouldn’t recommend a debit card, credit cards are much safer to use.
This happened a few years ago to an MMO (I can’t remember which one). Their system charged each transaction 1000 times instead of 1. They canceled the charges but anyone who used a debit card ended up paying hundreds of dollars in fees from their bank. Credit card companies don’t care they just remove the charges and that is it.
have you ever been feared by a necro, you Stun baker it to be feared again and die before the fear ends? I have and it is frustrating because there is no way to counter it, it is a “I WIN” Button.
Stability
or
Blind
or
Evade
or block
or invuln
or condition immunity
Hmm I might actually log in again after the mega server fiasco… I’ll be interested to see if they add anything new or just the same stuff. I look forward to getting to do those events again either way.
AP and skill are probably fairly strongly correlated. Only Anet has the exact metrics, but experience in the game will roughly translate into skill. Of course there are always outliers in the data, but the correlation will still stand.
Someone with 500 AP just hasn’t experienced enough of the game and the AI to have a good understanding of it. Someone with 20,000 AP has seen all aspects of the game and has put in a significant time investment. You can give all the outliers you want but AP is roughly related to skill no matter how much you yell that it isn’t.
I’m not sure where people are getting this idea that conditions can’t be dodged or mitigated.
You can dodge conditions exactly the same as you can dodge power attacks, not sure why people think you can’t.
Additionally each condition applies a set amount of damage, it is just distributed differently. people complain that scepter auto attack applies bleed for a necro. Yes it does. It does 150 base damage plus kitten bleed. Assuming they have a full glass cannon condition build that is a 10s bleed with approximately 200/s tick. that is a total of 2k dmg spread over 10 seconds. Are you saying that other classes auto attacks can’t reach 2k dps? because i’m pretty sure d/d thieves can hit upwards of 3k dps with auto attack if they are zerker. pretty sure warrior can do the same.
Of course in addition to all the standard mitigation (block, dodge, invuln, etc) you can also stop those attacks with condition immunities, cleanses, boon conversion and condition transfers.
That isn’t to say there aren’t specific builds that are OP. Engineers seem a little over the top because they have all the condition spam in addition to great direct damage and defense. But that is a general balance issue not a condition issue.
It’s a pretty fundamental philosophical/design difference.
WildStar has been envisioned from the beginning as being a game that was trying to feature the kind of difficulty that existed in MMOs (even the leveling game) prior to WoW’s expansions. The concept was to create a game that was, from the very beginning of it, tailored to meet the needs and desires of the most hardcore, high-skill-cap players in the MMO community — a group which often feels like its needs are overlooked in MMOs these days. So, WildStar from soup to nuts is catering to the most intense, hardcore, high skill gamer — that’s it’s own niche. I think it will be successful in that niche, but there are many other players who play MMOs these days who are moderately skilled at best and are not hardcore — they will be punished by WildStar’s design, and will not find it rewarding --> and, that’s okay because they are not WildStar’s target audience. The most hardcore, skill-cap oriented players are what they are going for.
And when they realize that this is the smallest and hardest to please niche in the MMO market, they’ll dumb down the content and make everything easier to attract the mainstream players, in much the same way that GW2 devs added ascended gear and fractal dungeons to appeal to the rush of hardcore gamers who complained that there was nothing to do when they hit the level cap after 10 days of play.
Agreed. I don’t think people actually realize how small the hard-core niche is compared to casual players these days.
I foresee a constant stream of “content too hard! content too inaccesible!” complaints. Can’t find a group to do X, it shouldn’t require X people to do Y content, when are they adding solo dungeons, I don’t have time to play hard-core but I want all of the same stuff!
It’s going to happen. You will all see.
Wait so which is it? Hardcore players are such a small niche that they can’t support the game, or hardcore players are such a large portion of the playerbase that they had to add in ascended gear, fractals, teq and wurm because the game can’t survive without the hardcore players?
You can’t have both… either hardcore players are a small niche or they are essential for the games survival…Which is it?
Check out Wildstar. It is an improved version of WoW with the promise of a sub fee (that you can pay for with ingame money) but no cash shop, ever.
Fixed that for you.
Its a raid-grinder with WoW graphics .. what exactly has that in common with GW2 ?
Other than graphics and raids it really has nothing in common with WoW…
Dodging… GW2… not WoW
Active combat with limited combat abilities at one time… GW2… not WoW
Position based combat… GW2… not WoW
I guess it has a few things in common with WoW such as the trinity and challenging skill based content instead of stack and spam 1.
But the style of combat is much more similar to GW2. I guess you can say it is like WoW but with GW2 style combat.
In the end though it is a sub game in which there is NO gem store and the devs focus on making content to keep you playing instead of fluff to keep you paying.
I think where wildstar really shines and GW2 really could improve is in the dungeons and adventures.
WS has varied, complex, challenging dungeons that are rewarding.
WS also has even more varied, complex and slightly easier more story driven adventures that are equally as rewarding.
GW2 has stack and spam speed run dungeons that you need to run 20+ times just to get anything of value.
If you want the developers to make content and give it to you for free then you want a sub game. 90% of GW2’s development goes into the cash shop.
Check out Wildstar. It is an improved version of GW2 with the promise of a sub fee (that you can pay for with ingame money) but no cash shop, ever.
Does this feature help china in some way? No? Then Anet doesn’t care.
I think one of the biggest draws of WS for me is the add-on community. The ability to completely customize the UI, add different features, change it to fit my playstyle completely. When I log into GW2 I am stuck with whatever they give me… and what they give me isn’t that great.
Additionally I like the challenge and skill associated with WS. GW2 is just catered to another crowd entirely, the ultimate of the casuals. I will probably end up playing both games. GW2 for it’s casual LS and WS for its monthly challenging content updates and veteran dungeons.
Another thing that WS is getting right is PvP. They have MULTIPLE game modes, something that GW2 has been sorely lacking since launch. Additionally they don’t have the stupid hotjoin auto balancing or the constant 4v5 that happens here. Plus WS has GvG which was supposed to be guild wars namesake.
Casuals will probably stay here, people looking for a challenge will probably migrate to WS.
There are 2 types of exp. Crafting exp and leveling experience.
You get crafting experience (the thing you circled) for every item you craft.
You get leveling experience (yellow bar that your arrow is pointing to) for every crafting LEVEL you gain. crafting levels go from 0-500 and if you complete all 500 crafting levels you will gain 10 leveling levels. the lower levels of crafting are worth less leveling exp, while the higher levels are worth more.
Hope that was clear enough.
It was removed. Don’t worry they will “hear our feedback” and reintroduce it “soon”, for only 1200 gems!
This is clearly a rather uninspired attempt by a gold seller to have his dreams come true… a way to move huge amounts of money that isn’t monitored by their anti-gold selling systems….
I will concede this is pretty much the perfect plan to make sure gold sellers completely dominate this game, but I don’t see any other benefits besides that.
Totally agree. If there is one thing that GW2 has taught me it is that you need a sub to have a decent game experience.
I will never play a game without a sub again after this one. It had such potential but was ruined by the gem store.
Best idea eva! Anet, please give this guy a mount.
Make that a flying mount!
So here’s an assumption so take it for what its worth. Beta for us lasted about 3 months then the game went live. I imagine we in the EU/US will get started on our next living story thing sometime in the next month or two. So will the Chinese pop in smack dab in the middle of some new story arch? They wouldnt make us wait till the Chinese launch to see the next chapter of Living Story would they?
That’s exactly what they do. China is there big market now since NA/EU has dwindled. We are second to china in all content and decisions. It is why cantha was removed before launch and will never be introduced in an expansion. China said no.
We will test updates for China and once they are polished they will be released there. We are pretty much the unofficial test server at this point.
Gift of fortune is pretty easy. You can easily farm karma and ectos. Then MF those to get all your T6 mats and the clovers, then you are done.
There is no way to get a precursor reliably except save up a ton of gold and hope you can save it faster than the price inflates.
The wardrobe seems to have had almost no effect on skins for whatever reason. Just look at some of the older skins like the southsun skins.
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/37216
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/37221
There’s only 140 and 160 of these skins and they have been unobtainable for over a year. Yet they didn’t budge at all when the wardrobe launched.
GW2 is one of the grindiest games on the market right now, I suspect they will love it. It makes WoW look like a cake walk and they liked that game.
I think the main problem will be that there is no purpose to the grind. In most MMO’s you grind so that you can take on more challenging content and see new stories. In GW2 you grind just for the sake of grinding and to look shinier (literally).
Sry what dose this have to do with doing well in China? Sounds like your trying to make this into some type of person vendetta.
Btw GW2 is less of a grind then WoW mainly because as your said your self there no point to grind in GW2 yet there is a point to grind in WoW so much so that you NEED to grind in WoW to get to better content.
There is no need. This is a game, it is played for fun, no one needs to do anything.
In GW2 the average time to get a legendary weapon is ~800 hours for the first one and about 400-500 for each subsequent one (assuming no credit cards). Being the only real endgame in GW2 that is your only goal. In WoW the goal is to clear top tier raiding content. Raids typically are done in 3 hours sessions 2 nights a week. That is on average 6 hours a week of raiding. You wold need to raid for 133 weeks straight to equal the time to get a legendary weapon…
I don’t know how anyone can compare the grind in GW2 to that of WoW, GW2 blows it out of the water. I’ve never played an Eastern MMO, I hear they are grindier, so I can only assume they will like the grind in GW2 since it is much more tedious then anything WoW offers.
But as you pointed out there is no real point in having a legendary weapon. There is no story behind it, it doesn’t open up new content. There is nothing to do with the weapon once you have it. Since the game doesn’t release new content once you get a legendary you are pretty much done.
So in summary I think the game will do really well at launch since it offers long term grindy goals that the market there likes, however it will quickly plummet in players due to the lack of actual content grind to keep players around long term. I mean the game had a two year head start in NA/EU to build up content and there is a grand total of 0 new content for the chinese market because Anet removed it all from the game.
