Nor will you be getting new missions since this is a feature patch, not a content patch. That was made clear a long time ago.

Can you point out where that was posted? I’m curious because the two interviews I read both said that Anet’s “feature” patch was going to be similar to what we see in a typical patch in other MMO’s.

If you look at other MMO’s like WoW, their latest patch added 4 new dungeons, a new raid, 2 new zones, balance, LFG changes, and a host of other smaller things.

If you compare that to this “feature” patch, we got all the smaller things, but the main parts haven’t been included. So if it was later changed that this won’t be like other MMO’s patches, can you point me to that interview?

Gw2 has no monthly fees
that’s what sells me on this game

I completely rufuse to support subscription based games as they are nothing more than a colossal rip off

Gw2 proves you can make a superb high quality MMO and not extort money from your fanbase every month

I would never have gotten into MMO’s or online gaming for that matter if it was not for Guildwars 1 and its no monthly fee policy

Really? I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Never have I seen a game rip you off more than GW2. I mean $100 a month on average to access all the games content… I’d gladly pay a pitiful $15 a month for the same privilege with the added bonus of the devs not purposefully designing inconveniences into the game to sell you stuff.

I disagree, there are games where you need to buy quest packs, certain races, mounts, classes, etc that is locked behind the cash shop. GW2 is not one of those games. you can not spend a dollar in the cash shop and still participate in everything some one who drops that $100 a month on skins, buffs, etc. I see you consider ‘skins’ to be essential content, I don’t think most people agree with you on that point. Id be happy to reconsider my opinion if you have specific examples of gameplay being cash shop dependent in GW2.

Infinite continue coin, watchwork pick, and airship pass are the 3 that come to mind right away. The coin and the pass are both examples of inconvenience deliberately being added to the game in order to sell an item. They nerfed the drop rate of coins by like 90% then introduced the coin in the gem shop the next day. They deliberately left out the crafting stations at vigil keep to make people either need to go through an additional 2 load screens, or buy a gem store item. The watchwork pick has taken it a step further in the fact that currently the only way for a new player to get watchwork sprockets is to either buy them from players with the pick or buy the pick themselves.

Additionally, since stat progression is not the goal of GW2, the only thing to work for at max level is cooler appearance items. However 99% of the new appearance items are locked behind the cash shop.

And no matter how loud people yell and scream it, converting gold to gems is not an effective solution. I should be able to earn the rewards by playing the game. I shouldn’t need to grind gold 50 hours a week just to get access to gem store items.

Again, I asked what gameplay is locked behind the cash shop. I guess maybe the musical instruments, but the items you listed are not examples of gameplay accessible to only gemshop costumers who spend “$100 a month”. convenience items are not gameplay.

I never said gameplay, that was you, I said content. Also I’ve noticed people use a very broad definition of convenience. There are sigils, accessories, and multiple other items that can only be made by crafting using watchwork sprockets. If you need to buy a gem store item in order to harvest them then I would say that goes beyond convenience. What if they suddenly locked other crafting items behind a gem store only pick? What if you could only get T6 mats if you had a gemstore item equipped? would that still be convenience? It is the same situation, just a different mat.

I consider unique armor and weapon skins that are much higher quality than what else is available to be content, since that look is what endgame is all about in GW2. I consider earning high powered gathering tools to be content. If they hadn’t sold them in the gem store then there could of been a series of quests or crafting unique items in order to forge a pick like that. It could have been some pretty cool content, but instead it was credit card fodder. That is what I mean when I say content is locked in the gem store.

Consider Wildstar for example since that is the comparison in this thread. In order to earn powerful rare dyes with special effects you need to complete specific challenges and earn a gold medal on that challenge. Things such as beating a certain boss under special conditions, killing a certain number of enemies in a set time, downing some combination of raid bosses, etc. In GW2 the rare dyes are RNG boxes in the gem store. I.E. potential content was removed and placed in credit card swiping RNG gamble boxes.

So I tried Wildstar and I missed playing GW2

Who loves spending tons of money on micro transistion wardrobes? China…

Who will be effected the most by champ train nerfs, repair costs, account bound things, etc… new players who are just starting out… i.e. China…

account bound dyes… announced a month ago for china…

In reality this is just about the chinese release, we are just an afterthought.

When do the features get announced?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

So far we’ve seen the addition of multiple things that were removed in beta and are just being reactivated now (trait hunting, account bound dyes)

The revamp of skin costs to get us to spend more money in the gem store (wardrobe)

Minor balance changes to classes runes and sigils

Minor tweaks of the LFG tool that has been in game for months

Addition of account bound legendary weapons (no real change since you could already do this with a trans stone)

And the removal of armor repairs and the nerfing of champ farms.

Where are the new features in this feature patch? Are they going to be announced soon? New legendarys? New weapons? New skills? The only actually new thing that has been announced were the grandmaster traits, other than that we are just seeing nerfs, gem store modifications, and bug fixes of things that should have been implemented in the first place.

So far this “feature” patch has yet to include any actual features… will they be announced soon?

The restriction that allowed you to make gold was nerfed (champ trains)

a thing that was already extensively talked about was restated in the exact same way (the restriction of only getting to read things on one blog post)

Can we get an update on New Legendaries?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

Yeah i’m beginning to think that maybe they scraped the plan for new legendary weapons all together. We haven’t heard anything about them since they were delayed back in December. I assume they ran into some sort of technical problem or something.

It would be nice to have an update. I know I and a dozen or so of my guild members have all been holding out for the new legendary drop. Slowly 1 by 1 they have been giving up and making current weapons though.

See this is making me really wonder..

New legendaries shouldn’t be a technical problem since they are just skins. The art team just needs time to design all of them, and so far they’ve had 9-10 months to design, 6 months originally.

So if there has been a technical issue that is holding new legendaries back, it could be possible that these legendaries will require a new set of components to craft that, just like the precursor crafting/scavenger hunt, will be based more on reward/accomplishments than gold.

I imagine since they were upgraded to ascended quality that the new ones will take some sort of ascended gift, possibly taking vision crystals, and other ascended mats. Or possibly even the corresponding ascended weapon as one of the components.

I took a gamble and I think they will probably keep the gift of mastery and gift of fortune, since those take a lot of work and aren’t RNG. I think the precursor and weapon gift will probably be updated to fit their updated reward model, which is probably what is taking so long.

Ahh thanks!

I don’t think people who crafted multiple sets of ascended armor will have much to complain about. They are few to begin with, and you still need multiple sets for each character anyway so nothing has changed. It just allows you to give it to another character if you change builds on one character.

I am sad that legendary weapons can still be traded. I was really hoping they’d be made account bound on creation finally.

I agree it is sad that people who spent all that time getting 2 identical weapons will be less “awesome” but overall I have to say this is a good change. A small minority will suffer, but the vast majority will have new motivation to work on their legendary and be actually able to show it off without a ton of inconvenience.

Hopefully the next set of weapons will be account bound on creation, and more legendary in acquisition.

I personally find it hilarious that you think not announcing the unidentified dye change would of had LESS of an impact… It would of had a significantly higher impact since the vast majority of unidentified dyes would no longer be coming from patch day, thus making them significantly MORE rare, thus driving up the prices of dyes probably 5-10x higher then they went yesterday.

As it is now, prices rose modestly, and will plummet back down with the influx of unidentified dyes on patch day. Your method would have caused market devastation.

Dye Changes Feedback/Questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

I think we can expect dyes to settle back down to lower prices overall, with blue dyes hovering at the same price as unidentified dyes until patch day. The reason is that every dye can effectively be turned into an unidentified dye on patch day, meaning that is now the minimum value for a dye. However after patch day you will see a massive plummet of the prices of all dyes. The reason for this is two fold.

Thousands upon thousands of players converted all their laurels into dyes yesturday to try and make money. Most of them didn’t… this means they have a crap ton of unidentified dyes and the only way to make money is to open them up and gamble right now. This means there is going to be a huge influx of dyes into the market.

Secondly on patch day an even larger influx of dyes will take place from duplicates being converted into unidentified dyes. I know personally I will be receiving 300 unidentified dyes. Assuming the unidentified dyes aren’t account bound, the price for them will bottom out rather quickly, and then slowly rebound.

Due to the sheer volume of extra dyes entering the market I don’t think we will see a significant price increase for any dyes for at least 6 months if not more.

I ended up breaking even, due to 2 speculation successes and 2 speculation failures… There were just too many people buying and selling to keep up. There is no need for a clarification, the article clearly states that dyes currently unlocked on your character will become unlocked for your account on patch day. Any overlapping dyes will be converted at a 1:1 ratio into unidentified dyes.

It is stated quite clearly in the article, and even more clearly in the video.

You glacial dye and Algae dye will both be available to ALL your characters after the patch. If they aren’t I will personally buy you one of each.
