Did you really use a camera to take a picture of your screen, upload the picture and then post it on here?
Hint: Use the prtScn button to take an ingame screen shot and then go into the GW2 user file and find the SS folder, much easier.
Are you talking about the gold silver and bronze rank chests? Those are based on rank each rank (rabbit, deer, etc) has 2-3 different armor/weapon sets that you get from the chests.
Im talking bout the Mystery Coffers that you buy with glory.
Ahh, those I don’t know… I would assume it is truly random, but there may be some skins excluded like the high ranking skins. Sorry can’t be much help on those.
Its really nice to often try to derail posts…yet i explicitly said that the demand was infact really high due to an economy-breaking patch that led to this wonderful situation with SIlk more expensive than gossamer (as people predicted easily when they read patchnotes about ascended crafting…)
Aside that the issue was extremely aggravated and shown a clear sign of insider trading.
Expecially since even john Smith admitted there were suspects of insider tradings.
And once again another proposal.
Can we have similar balancing to the rest of the game?
Why not Diminishing returns on TP?
The more you buy/sell the more taxes you pay….every part of the game has it
I’ll agree to this as long as whoever gets the killing blow on a champ drains money from all the surrounding players -15% that goes to TEPA (Tyrian environmental protection agency).

I don’t know how you missed the fact that warriors are 100% immune to conditions for 20+ seconds at a time. I’ve gone an entire fight without ever damaging a warrior. He was immune to all my conditions, his signet outhealed my auto attack and utilities, and he stunned me 4 times in a row until I was dead.
Warriors are by far the worst to use conditions against.
After that are ele’s they are also immune to conditions except their immunity lasts 40+ seconds in my experience. They have constant regen up so and my scepter AA doesn’t do enough damage to counter their regen so they also are able to kill me from 100% health and there is literally nothing I can do to stop them. I have no idea how you damage an ele as a condition spec, but it seems they are completely immune to all damage all the time.
I think the idea, but it is much too strong. This would be a required infusion for everyone.
Did they ever fix this?? it has been awhile since I played due to these problems. I legit would play again if anyone can let me know the state of Necormancer viability for Condi damage. thank you!
Nope, if anything it has gotten worse since direct damage scales much faster than condition damage. The introduction of ascended gear widened the gap even further and no changes have been made to conditions.
This argument will just go on forever. We have a whole generation of kids who were told their whole lives that everyone is equal and everyone is special. Now unfortunately they are being forced to realize that no one is equal and some people are just significantly better than others at things. Yes, some players are much better than you at making gold, there is nothing you can do about this. No matter how many restrictions you put on them they are still going to be better than you and will still end up with more gold than you.
Why do you think they are discounting bank and bag slots in the gem store currently? The longer they don’t put in the vendor the more likely people are to buy extra bags to store all that stuff.
@ OP: I’m mad I don’t have a time machine to go back to launch and purchase EVERY precursor on the market.
You got your skin, so who cares? I crafted Infinite Light a year and a half ago for 300g+ what it’s going for now. Do I deserve a refund? nope.
Just move on and enjoy the new system(or don’t, and continue to kitten about nothing).
the pvp version requires you to be rank 70 in pvp before you can make it… not to much ppl are lvl 70..
the longbow you can get in pvp from rank 1….
see my point..
Actually pretty much everyone will be rank 70 after the patch. Everyone above rank 35 currently will be promoted up. Also they are vastly lowering the requirements, it will take about a month of casual PvP to get to rank 70 now.
Only maps in the megaserver will be affected by the waypoint issue.Sorry, this is totally wrong.
…we’ve decided to disable reporting of world state across maps entirely.
Is it true that they’ll be selling unidentified dyes in the gemstore?
They have since launch, there was just no reason to buy them before now.
This feature update is actually why I started playing GW2 again. Well, and I finally remembered my password, but that’s a whole other story. :P
As for content, I’m sure there will be more content soon.
Also, ZudetGambeous, ESO is terrible. It may have plenty of new content, but it’s a less-than-subpar experience.

You may think that, but the plummeting GW2 population tells a different story.

Because in-game I can’t see this “plummeting GW2 population” but the complete opposite.

You don’t do server mergers on a growing game.
Here’s a hint. Take a look at what server names you see mentioned here on the forums. I suspect the only names you can know off the top of your head are as follows:
BG,TC,JQ,Deso, SoR, SoS, and maybe Piken Square due to the RP thread.
Now take a look at how many servers GW2 actually has open right now: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World
That’s right there are 51 English speaking servers… you know why no one mentions them on the forums… because there is no one on most of them. over a dozen of the American servers don’t even know what an overflow is because even if you put every active player in one map it still wouldn’t make an overflow on their servers.
So TESO is dead before it’s alive, because it’s using a megaserver too.
And if I remember correctly even the juggernaut WoW has a system that allows players of low level zones to play on the same zone regardless of server. WoW must be dying too.
Also, if I’m not completely mistaken other MMORPGs are also using a megaserver approach too, they must be dying too.So making sure no zones are empty means the game must be dying according to your strange logic, which is false.
Here is a hint: megaserver is not the same as server merges.
Here is another hint: megaserver doesn’t mean a game isn’t growing, it will be used to solve certain “problems”, that’s why it will apply on zones that generally have low population
TESO launched with this feature so not really the same thing at all. However, the game is a cash grab. They have a full blown cash shop infrastructure already built into the game for when it flops and goes F2P. Everyone knows it is a cash grab game.
WoW is losing players. They had 13 million subscribers during cata and they are down to 8 million by the end of pandas. They needed to merge a crap ton of servers through their new and exciting “mega server” system since the lack of 5 million players was noticeable on the tons and tons of empty servers. So while the game isn’t dying it did lose almost 40% of it’s players, thus server mergers.
All games lose players over time, the only game in the history of games to get more players over multiple years was WoW. It was an extreme outlier. It is just part of the cycle. GW2 will find its niche players and go on for years, but that doesn’t mean the game is some super game that is constantly gaining players.
I don’t think cantha is possible anymore since they agreed to sync the game between US/EU and China. It would be highly illegal to bring cantha to China so I doubt they will waste development time on something that only a small part of their customer base would ever get.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say. server mergers and mega servers are the exact same thing just with some additional window dressing.
Mega servers are just server mergers + underflow.
The server merger part will fix the problem for the empty servers, the underflow part I doubt will fix anything. You still won’t be able to kill the giant in diessa because 0+0+0+0+1+0 is still just 1. There is no reason to be in that map, you can combine 1000 servers and there still wouldn’t be a reason to be there.

The coin from champ bags is a big reason why ecto costs 38 silver today instead of 20 silver.
I crafted my first Vision of the Myst in November or December 2012 .. and do you know what the ecto price was that time ? 36-37 silver.
And why can’t you stop these Champtrain threads, when there aren’t even more that much trains running. The last 2 weeks i was on 7 EU Server where i only for a short while saw one with maybe 4-5 people in Frostgorge. Heck i can’t even do my 60 monthly champions it seems.
You are mixing different market forces:
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19721
The price spiked very briefly at the end of November 2012 when they first introduced fractals and Ascended gear (250 ectos for each backpack upgrade)
It then settled back down to 25s for a while due to the snowflake exploit.
At the end of February the patch revamped AC, added in new event scaling, and lowered the credit threshold for loot, causing the price to plummet back down to an average of 20s for the next 6 months.
It wasn’t until the Queen’s jublie patch which introduced champ bags and flooded the game with gold that prices jumped up back to 36s.
This post is factually incorrect. No where does it state that this change is happening April 15th. The blog states that this is a feature that MAY be implemented by DECEMBER 2014.
Save silver, lose gold!
No repair cost + less loot for those who win = reward for failure!!
It’s a bad sign when a game starts to reward failure.
It’s a bad sign when players aren’t correctly reading the blogs. Let me ask you, do you ever notice when a champ bag drops money? I’m not talking about the EQUIPMENT OR RESOURCES that comes out of the bag, but the money. You know, cash, moolah, greenbacks, copper, silver, golds, MMMMMMMOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY, whatever you want to call it.
No? Then why would you begin to notice a marginal drop in something that was so inconsequential, you never noticed it unless someone mentioned it?
Out of curiosity, I went and soloed a champ event for the hell of it. 98 copper from completing the event itself. Nothing to write home about, it covers some of the waypoint cost. Opened the exotic chest it dropped, I get a little more than 2.5 silver. Total amount of roughly 3.5 silver. Per champion in a 1-15 area. Out of the chest, I happened to drop an item worth 40s. Now, compared to the actual cash drop, which I wont miss even if they removed it entirely, the value of the items themselves are going to be much higher.
It used to be 8s per chest every time. At 60 chests an hour this was 4.8g per hour just from the coin drops. This chance was nerfed from 100% down to about 50%, giving you about 2.4g/hr just from coin drops. It is a very significant part of the loot provided, but also causing inflation. They are further reducing this in order to cut down on the gold inflation, as they should.
Also OP how do you define rich? wouldn’t increasing TP taxes hurt poor players more? How do you stop players from moving to the GW1 system where money became useless and people traded through mail using high valued items instead?
I will miss the Dyes too.. Because me and friends use to play “Dye Lotto”.. we each buy 50+ Unidentified Dyes from the TP, open em all up and compare what we got.. Now that fun is gone =/
you can still do that…
Dyes will still be craftable… and harvestable, and buyable with laurels, and given as rewards, the only thing they are remving is the RNG drops from the open world.
Guild functionality is essentially non-existent in Guild wars 2. Your only option is to have everyone leave the guild and join a new one.
Glorified server mergers. Good to stabilize the free fall population drop, pretty much bad for everything else.
If it wasn’t for their precious WvW we could of had actual server mergers which would have kept server identities more intact.
No one likes server mergers, but when the games population is plummeting they need to do something. Anet decided to take the hard a spin as possible approach to the mergers, but obviously not everyone is going to fall for the spin.
Fortunately usually after mergers are complete games populations usually stabilize and sometimes even rebound slightly.
The NGE in SWG killed off about 25% of the population and essentially ended the game. It took 4 more years after that but near the end the game was actually one of the better games on the market… Lucas killed it for SWTOR which ended up being another mistake.
Condition damage- Major
Condition Duration – Minor
Precision – Minor
The zerker equivalent of condition specs.
Would be helpful to lift the 100% duration cap for this.
So does this mean that a guild could in theory do a world boss train? Meaning they can just spawn the bosses whenever they are done with the previous one and move on to the next one?
If that’s the case, at least make a long CD on the activation so they can’t be spammed.
It is only for the big 3 bosses, not the others. additionally it takes merits to activate which are limited to 5(?) a week and have an overall cap for 250, so that will limit the amount they can spam.
So when is this new timer system coming into effect? Is it at some undisclosed time before 2015? Or is it actually coming with this patch?
Well there are competing factors… while you can’t use a map to get alts through the same route you can enter an unlimited number of new maps per day to get ori and wood.
you could find the ori and wood while a map is highly populated, party with someone doing an event there and cycle through your alts to collect all the resources.
The later in the day when the events are over and a different map has spawned you can locate the new maps spawn points and cycle through your alts to collect everything a second time.
You basically have access to much more ori and elder wood now, you just have to work a little harder to get to it.
So it depends on how many people are going to put in the work. Either way I don’t think the prices will be effected too much because most of the supply comes from salvaging not gathering in my experience.
I noticed a number of things are missing from the feature patch that have been a long time “in the works”.
1. It was stated approximately 16 months ago that a fix for condition damage in PvE was in the works. More recently it was stated that it was still in the works. This is pretty much one of the biggest issues that remains in the game.
2. Crafting to 500 for cooking and artifice. This was supposed to be introduced in 2013 but never appeared.
3. New legendary weapons and trinkets. Also supposed to be introduced in 2013 but never appeared.
I figured the feature patch would be the perfect time to introduce these things, yet we are out of blog posts. Can we get an update on the status of these things? are they still being worked on? have they been shelved?
Ele’s guards, warriors and mesmers are what you want in a world boss setting, everyone else is just filler for the most part.
Hate it. And here’s why: I’m part of Attuned, a guild focused on fighting those “Hardcore” mega bosses. While it’s nice we can start the boss whenever we want, it’s terrible that we can no longer commandeer a map for ourselves.
Let me explain. Fights like the Triple Headed Jungle Wurm require coordination by 120~160 people with at least 110 of which in the same teamspeak. To accomplish this, my guild has been guesting to empty servers or forcing an overflow for private use. This ensures that we have only people who we know we can count on in the map and furthermore ensures we can actually accomplish killing the Wurm on a regular basis.
With the changes to the current system, it sounds like there will be no such thing as overflows, and no such thing as “empty maps” to guest to. In this case, it seems impossible to purge our runs of PUGs who are either geared incorrectly or unable/unwilling to follow commander instruction. Thus, this system makes future endeavors at killing the wurm (or any future, more-difficult boss) futile and impossible. Our guild is very dismayed over the fact that there has been no considerations for this situation and are skeptical that when this patch hits we’ll be able to kill wurm at all anymore due to the excessive amount of incompetent PUGs that will always be inside our (now merged) Bloodtide Coast.
While reading this i’d like to puke all over you. People like you are the worst thing which could ever happen to a game!
wow, just wow. What a horrible way to talk to someone in a public format.
Just to be sure, i’d say it to his face too
Saying someone who is not playing “correct” is incompetent is as unfriendly as i was, so i think we are both fine.
Not really… playing inefficiently and causing an event to fail is pretty much the definition of incompetent… Your inability to comprehend that is not really his issue…
Question: How will WvW bonuses function on these mega-servers?
If guilds can trigger world events, do non guild members get the same rewards or are rewards for non guildies limited to karma, XP and a silver like existing guild missions?
Since it is just used to trigger an already existing event I imagine loot will be the same as the normal event, however a dev confirmation would be great.
I don’t understand this blog… it isn’t part of the April 15th patch and by the wording it might not even be technically possible and may not ever be implemented… Why is this included in the feature patch blogs? Just trying to make it look like more content then there is?
Likes:
-No more bouncing around and using out of the game programs to keep up with events
-No more getting stuck in an overflow where the event isn’t happening
-Guilds can trigger mega events on their own time
Dislikes:
-Can’t see dungeon and WP status, meaning we have to spend nearly twice as much money to get where we want.
-Gathering nodes are going to be a pain now since there are no fixed maps.

The problem ultimately stems from the games design philosiphy. Everyone is equal, everyone is special and everyone gets credit for everything.
In traditional MMO’s you have to compete for kills and resources and loot from bosses. This means you have a much higher overall rarity to items that drop because only 1 person gets it. In GW2 EVERYONE gets full rewards for everything. This means the items are significantly less rare and mostly seem like junk because everyone is getting them.
Getting a rare (blue) item in a traditional MMO is rewarding and makes you feel accomplished. In GW2 getting a rare (yellow) item seems like a waste of time because everyone is getting yellow items.
That is why loot seems like crap in GW2.
Last I heard it was pretty much abandoned. I know it took them like a week to fix an issue that caused 100% of mac users to crash within 5 minutes of log on…
I don’t think they are actively working on it anymore, but since it works for most people they are leaving it in beta so they don’t have to support it quickly if something goes wrong.
Hmm…Just noticed both upcoming blog posts are to be released today!
I’m sure ArenaNet is just as surprised as I am at the wave of negative posts following the announcement of one of the best ideas in gaming history.
I’ve been over this whole thread and noticed a common trend amongst the angry posts… and that is a mischaracterization or misunderstanding of what was said.
I’m sure they are speeding up the delivery of the information in order to put those two problems to rest and open the floor up to legitimate questions about how the system will work.
I have no doubt at all that this will be a purely positive experience for many players, and at worst a neutral change for others.
If the game had launched with this feature it would have been great, however it is really nothing more than a glorified server merger at this point, hardly new or exciting. The few high pop servers will notice no difference except that it will be harder to organize events, farm, and do guild missions. The low pop servers that this merger is really for will have a much improved experience, the same as if servers were merged.
It basically comes down to the fact that actually merging servers would have destroyed what was left of WvW so they went with this alternative approach.
Hmm…Just noticed both upcoming blog posts are to be released today!
Interesting… guess they figured out that there is no logical reason to drag out the disappointment over 3 days instead of 2.
Honestly if they just include the ability to get back into the same map after the horribly unstable game crashes that would be enough for me.
Pretty sure that, along with most of the original concepts for GW2 were scrapped a long time ago in favor of the cash shop and LS.
I’m excited for GW2’s prospects for China, but I sure hope that this game doesn’t go in a direction because of Kongzhong’s demands.
Even though NA/EU have been with this game for over a year, China can be a major player in the direction of the game due to the playerbase side.
For example, NA/EU would really like to see Cantha, but China (Kongzhong) would be very much against that, which could lead to scrapping that entire project.
That already happened. Cantha was originally part of the game but it was removed because China wouldn’t agree to let GW2 there unless it was removed. That’s why there was a giant hole in Divinities Reach for a year, that used to be the Canthan district which was supposed to eventually lead us into Cantha, but China said no.
Judging by your screenshot it looks like you were farming for about 5-10 minutes and killed approximately 20 mobs…
I’m not sure what you are farming, but your method and/or spot are clearly not the most efficient. I used to farm SS for the skelks and I would typically get about 40 T5 blood and 8-10 T6 bloods in an hour. I think that spot has been nerfed since then, but there should be similar spots around. How many people are in your group and how many mobs/min are you killing?
Consensus seems to have been reached on 1/2 of the question. But what about skins?
I feel that these have the potential to increase significantly. First, there will be a market for those that “gotta have them all.” This is a market that currently does not exist in PVE.
Also, depending on the UI, you might be able to preview skins that you do not own. This would effectively increase demand as awareness of older skins would sky rocket among newer players and returning players. Ever wonder why people are manipulating the buy orders on skins in order to put it on the front page of the tp? It’s primarily to allow people to right click on the skin, become aware of it, and then desire it.
There are several other reasons that I am not listing here, but regardless, I feel skins could go up in value— particularly skins that are no longer available or those that cost 2-5 black lion tickets.
Anet reintroduces the skins too often for them to ever be super valuable. Anet likes making money more than they like the economy of skins, and that will always be true. It’s only a matter of time before the execs see how much money they could make by reintroducing the ghastly grinning shield skin. They won’t pass up the chance to make tens of thousands of dollars just because it ticks off a few TP investors.
18746 sold
3025 boughtAlso, look what I found near the end of my log…
Those prices
I’m crying right now
I looked further and found like 10 ghastly shields and like 30 scythes.. god kitten it me.
Yeah I have a few pages with 10,000 ancient bones that I sold for 1s… it was a sad sad reminder…
This is essentially a server merger. about 70% of the servers have been empty for months now. Instead of closing them and forcing people to move they are simply moving everyone into the same instance of the map. I don’t know where you are getting your information that you know for certain that the population isn’t dwindling, only Anet knows that and since they are merging servers the evidence would not support your position.
Well Vol you challenged John Smith to nerf this… and he killed it right at the source lol.
Hey baalblade idk why you said EXACTLY to my pose, I was using it as a point against you not for you…
and i used it support my argument how IMBALANCE bosses in this game are. You point?
Are you saying that every boss in the game should be the same difficulty?
That would be a TERRIBLE game…
Yes, staff guardians get ~2x more loot than any other class. In the next teir down are thieves, well necros, rangers, eles, and warriors. Below them are engineers. About 10000 miles below them are mesmers.
staff 1 on guardian is currently the best attack in the game for getting loot.
Maybe instead of an automatic placement system a player choice system would be better.
Give players the choice of what is important to them in map placement. Give us an option to check what criteria we want considered in our placement.
Well, gg. Precursors have gone up past couple of days. Was hoping this would be coming soon.
yeah they are basically starting over… so 2015 maybe if we are lucky…
