Why would you buy these?

I have over 500 of these from just playing the game… What did you even use them for? they can only be used on <80 armor, for the cost of buying 1 stone you could have bought pretty much any <80 entire armor set off the TP you wanted.

HA — nice job ANet — every single “cheap” dye on the TP has shot up 10x in price.

I’m at a loss of words… “incompetent” is the first that pops to mind though.

I fail to see how it’s Anets fault… you had the same opportunity as everyone else to buy some extra dyes if you wanted.

Just wait a bit, the trading post is exploding right now but it will calm down.

And if you follow the blogs or posts of the developers frequently you’ll now that they already are addressing the precursor topic. They wanted to include the precursor crafting also for the april update, but something wasn’t as easy as they thought. So it will get a delay, but is still an option.

Talk about drinking the koolaid…

Precursor crafting is just a marketing hype tag line, it isn’t something they are actually doing. They said they were going to introduce a precursor scavenger hunt “soon” over 18 months ago…

If you want to craft a legendary then you’ll need to save faster than the price rises, get farming.

And what source of revenue would you add to the game in order to make up for the revenue lost without transmutation?

They’ll be making it up in spades from dye sales obviously.

well you know… except for the fact that you can craft them… and harvest them… and MF them… and get them as ingame rewards… and the fact that most people will be getting 400-500 unidentified dyes on patch day due to duplicates…

But if you ignore all that then… CASH GRAB!

You still get guaranteed best in slot stats and the ability to change stats, this is what you were paying for in part.

Also you could already switch legendary weapons between characters so this does nothing to change the status of legendary weapons…

If You Can buy one legendary and have the skin on All weapons of the same type… Horrible idea. I quit if that happens. If This is only possible With skins bought from the gemstore then its ok.

I love when people say they are going to quit over something that is already in the game…

You do know that you can transfer the legendary skin between toons on your account right? With the new system you just save the extra step of having to put it in the bank with a white item.

Wait… can one of you economy savvy people explain to me what is going on with the dyes right now?

1. There are going to be new ways to get dyes come patch day, and we have no idea at what frequency or cost this will be, but presumably in such a way that is not horribly painful to get dyes.

2. Anyone who has unlocked a really good dye across multiple characters is going to get that dye back on patch day, resulting in a flood of the best dyes coming back on the market (see abyss dye). And a massive flood of common dyes.

So my question is, why the freakout and mass purchase of dyes? It seems like the reasonable person would just wait till right after the patch and get dyes then, while everyone is unloading their duplicates. It seems like a lot of stock is being put into the new way to aquire dyes being insufficient to meet personal need.

Basically people are dumb and the smart people are preying on them.

“When you unlock a dye after the feature pack is released, all characters on your account will have unlimited access to that color.

If you already have the same dyes unlocked on multiple characters, when you log in on additional characters, you will receive one unidentified dye for each duplicate dye already unlocked on your account."

So does this mean, in order for us to make a dye account unlocked, we must buy the color and unlock it, and if we already had it unlocked on individual characters then we get an unidentified dye for each old character locked dye of that color?

So we must once again purchase a single dye of every color we want regardless of how many characters already have it unlocked?

That sucks because last week my brother went for the Charred dye for 90 gold, now it’s gonna be locked to 1 toon when it could have been to all 9 of them.

I’m pretty sure it means that the colors you already have will be account bound. So your brother will have charred dye on all 9 of his characters. But if he had bought charred dye on 2 different characters then all 9 would still get it, but he would also get a free unidentified dye because it was a duplicate.

My thoughts about the legendary issue follow on from the others here.

I wonder how it will affect the costs of legendaries, I can see a demand for tradeable weapons just to unlock the skin and then resell.

according to the blog post you need to either:

1. Equip the item
2. make it account bound through the options
3. salvage the item

In order to unlock it in the wardrobe. So there will be no reselling of skins if you want them in the wardrobe.

Wildstar and GW2 are fundamentally different in the audiences they are targeted to.

GW2: People who want to spend $100 a month to stand in a zerg and press 1 then buy all the rewards/armors in the gem store, with no challenge.

Wildstar: Spend $15 to access challenging content that rewards skill, time and ability with no cash shop.

Wildstar has a mentoring system actually. It doesn’t have a downleveling system though.

That is why I didn’t count it.

That was poorly phrased looking back. It does have a downleveling/mentoring system, you just need to group with someone level appropriate.

You can replay any zone at any level as long as you team up with someone that is the right level. So it is a little more restrictive than GW2, but practically it is the same since no one goes to low level zones in GW2 just for solo fun anyway.

ZudetGambeous.9573

I played Wildstar and to say it brings nothing to the table is an ignorant, short-sighted statement. To keep things short and simple I’m just going to make a list. Here are features that Wildstar has over Guild Wars 2

1. Challenges, timer based content that gives you an exceptional reward if completed, is repeatable.
2. Housing, though, not as good as other games; it offers new features regardless such as changing the mood. Refer to second photo
3. A 4 path system, another mini option on how to play the game
4. A complex Telegraph system, something people really underestimate a system which could help our game and end the one-shot boss auto attack crisis.
5. A costume system, no restrictions other than leveling up to unlock; refer to first photo. Sure we can transmute items but that doesn’t quite cut it
6. Emphasis on lore.

I only listed the ones I felt important. Now for features that Guild Wars 2 has over Wildstar.

1. Dynamic Events, though not rewarding enough for the time invested I suppose it could be a bit engaging but it adds a level of depth to the world that you just can’t take away.
2. Level Scaling/Mentoring. This system adds for a mass amount of re-playability, this is the only feature other than dynamic events that’s keeping me in this game.
3. Voice-acted environment.
4. Variations on different weapons.

That is about it. I tossed graphics aside, our game other than the environment doesn’t look all that great either. Didn’t list gear because I couldn’t care less about gear grind/stats, this game has it as well, they should have kept the same stat system as Guild Wars 1.

Wildstar has a mentoring system actually. It doesn’t have a downleveling system though.

For those of you who have played Wildstar, could you please answer the following questions:

1. What is the PvP like, compared to GWII? Is everyone on the same level with the same gear and skills, and can I level up in it?

2. How does the combat feel, compared to GWII? Is it dynamic, fast-phased and varied?

3. What is the transmutation and dye system like, compared to GWII?

4. What are the quests and dynamic events like, compared to GWII?

5. Can you play any way you want while being properly rewarded, like in GWII?
By that I mean quests, events, PvP, exploration etc.

6. Is there a holy trinity, or is it free of roles like in GWII?

I am very interested in Wildstar but I haven’t been able to dig up much information about it. Guess I haven’t looked in the right places.

1. I didn’t play PvP so I can’t comment on the feel, just the basics. There are level brackets and your level and power are equalized within that bracket. Just like SWTOR if you’ve ever played that. Basically a level 10 and level 19 are in the same bracket but everyone get sets to level 15 and their stats are more or less equalized. You do gain gold and experience in PvP so you can choose to fully level up in PvP starting from level 6.

2. I like the combat better in Wildstar. It is more dynamic, more challenging, more varied, and there are trinity roles, which I prefer.

3. Since there is a monthly fee there is no gem store. You can use the costume system to change your gear looks for free at any time. The dye system is similar to GW2’s system except since again there is no gem store so dyes are account bound since they don’t need to drive sales through inconvenience.

4. Quests are traditional MMO style. They have mini stories associated with them more so than other MMO’s. They are pretty varied in what you do, but they are still the traditional model. There are public events which are sort of like the dynamic events of GW2, but larger and very few of them.

5. Exploration is a path, which is its own unique system you’ll have to read about on their website, and it has its own progression associated with it. You can earn XP for quests, killing, and PvP. Crafting has its own progression system that you level up and earn talent points for. Dungeons and adventures are also a good source of XP if you want to level that way.

6. Strict Holy Trinity. That being said the lfg tool is already in game and fully functional and cross server, so I never waited more than 3 minutes to get a full group.

ZudetGambeous.9573

So, I tried Wildstar this weekend and I felt like mehh… I went back to playing GW2 instead and played PVP and forgot about why I stopped playing Solo ranked and hit the Join button to queue. I also loved WvW raids more.

*GW2 has crispier graphics.
*Quests are better in GW2 imho
*Better PVP style for ranked and open world. Battle is three way and not between 2 factions.
*The telegraphs are ok but I liked how GW2 requires you to keep track of the opponent and see his status/buffs or the animation when to cast a skill or anticipate things given the circumstances. It makes dodging easy tho.
*Weapons are more flashy in GW2.
*Combo fields for sustain and damage seems like a funkier way to play open world combat.
*WS just simply looked like WoW with space/galactic theme.
*Finishers are awesome.

I felt like I am not ready to shell out or farm for 15$ to pay for the monthly sub.

Any opinions?

GW2 and Wildstar have very different graphics. That is personal taste really, I too prefer GW2 graphics (pre-gem shop). But given the games as they are now I would choose Wildstar. There are no clowns, no butterfly fairy wings, no cartoon weapons, and no plushie backpacks in wildstar, so in the end the aesthetic appeal of wildstar wins.

There are no quests in GW2, there are hearts. Hearts contain no real story and generally involve running around spamming F for 5 minutes. I don’t see how that is superior to varied story driven challenging quest lines, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

You are downright delusional if you think ranked PvP is better in GW2 than in Wildstar. There is no balance to speak of, only 1 game mode, and progression at all in GW2 PvP. Wildstar boasts 3 different ranked game modes, better ranking system, progression, and more tactical combat with varied roles. Open world PvP wasn’t available in the beta weekend due to the restricted level cap, so you are just talking out of your butt here. I agree that 3-way PvP is probably more fun, but you can’t actually know that yet.

Keep track of your opponents? See his status/buffs? Are you sure you are playing GW2? In the GW2 that I play you stack in a blob and spam 1 until the target dies, there is no keeping track or monitoring buffs at all. Contrast that to wildstar where those things are actually important, like interrupting bosses, debuffing, etc.

I’d love to see you actually compare level 17 weapons in Wildstar to the equivalent level 27 weapons in GW2 and tell me which ones are more flashy…

I wish combo fields were more important in GW2, I do like them.

This is back to the graphics again I guess. The only thing Wildstar and WoW have in common are the cartoon graphics style and the fact that they are both MMO’s.

Finishers are terrible… they ruin PvP and are annoying in PvE.

I’m not actually convinced you played Wildstar…

ANET what about Cavaliers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ZudetGambeous.9573

ZudetGambeous.9573

Stat combinations come in the format 1x major, 2x minor. Celestial was unique, coming in the format 6x small, 1x minor. With the crit damage change, celestial was changed to 7x small, making it an obvious nerf, hence why they’re increasing the value.

Buffing cavalier’s would only create another inconsistency. Stat combinations aren’t balanced around having compatible stats. When choosing a combination that has crit damage and no precision, you do so because you know you can get precision from another source.

His point is that crit damage now sucks. Before, you could put it on your gear in place of precision and actually increase your damage (or stay competitive). Now, it just sucks. Gearing for damage is going to be power > precision > ferocity. There is no break even point. I’ve done the napkin math, the stat is now useless unless you are full zerker. Where cavaliers in the correct slot was a real option before, it is now completely sub-optimal. There is no reason to ever do it. They actually reduced build diversity.

How has changing from→ Zerker is best to → Zerker is best, reduced build diversity… there was only 1 viable build before the change and there is only 1 viable build after the change. Every other build is just different shades of not as good as zerker.
