there are actually 4 different events for the batteries. make sure you get a medal for each one, bronze will do.
As far as I know it has yet to be done using only ingame resources. Every successful attempt I’ve heard of needed TS to win.
SO… technically still impossible without 3rd party programs.
Also the majority of the attempts have been performed by either BG or TC. They just keep guesting around and beating it on different servers to help people out. Which is great, and very nice of them, but not representative of the majority.
Not saying I don’t like the challenge, beating it is fun, i’ve done it once, hoping to do it again tonight. But to be fair it has yet to be beaten by normal players, which is what the people claiming it was impossible had in mind I think.
S-Warrior
A-Gaurd/Ele
B-Thief/Ranger/Mesmer/Eng/Necro
C-Any condition Spec of the above classes
So If I am playing with my friend while guesting I will randomly be removed from him and kicked into a random overflow? No thanks…
What makes the server “yours” anyway? Also what makes you so sure that guesters are the problem? JQ has never beat teq yet there is a 5 hour wait to get into the main server, are you suggesting that everyone is guesting there to a fail server?
I’ve seen the so call purchase walls. For example someone put in 5000 orch ore order at higher price, then another 5000 orch ore buy order at 1 copper price lower. This create a buy order wall … now that is market manipulation.
There’s nothing special about buy ordering 5000 ore. You do know that creating for example one Dusk/Dawn requires on average 42,000 ore? There’s a multitude of players who are Mystic Forging their way to precursors, and competing against each other with material buy orders to create them cheaper.
42,000 orch ore at 5 silver each is 210,000 silver (2,100 gold). Dawn price = 600g to 800g. I think you are wrong. BTW I have a sunrise.
you use mithril to forge rares, not ori. 42,000 ore at 30c ea = 12,600s (126g)
Defend turrets then. Or operate one
You get more loot that way anyway.
can’t defend turrets, fingers (main enemy of turrets) are immune to conditions.
Don’t worry, Anet thought of every way possible to screw over condition users.
I got in tonight also. Just wondering about something.
Is the LFG tool only for your server or does it connect to all the servers in NA or EU ?. So that I could party up with someone from say Tc and someone from Sor ?
Any server in your region.
NA can not group with EU and EU can not group with NA, otherwise anything goes.
Same as it’s been since launch. well technically you can group with people cross region, but you’ll get all sorts of crazy error messages when you try and enter the dungeon, none of which will actually tell you that your region is the problem.
you guys aren’t even close =p
lol bs
feel free to check my SS in any way you see fit. BG + North American Teq slayers ftw!
I agree that condition builds are useless against some things, but Necros…
…why don’t you just defend the turrets from Risen? Your marks would be very useful there.
I don’t get why everybody insists on wailing on Taco when there’s plenty of other roles to fill.
Necros are inadequate turret defenders as well. It takes a scepter necro 8 minutes to kill a single finger that pops up on the turrets since they to are immune to condition damage.
I think that people who clearly don’t comprehend the problem should abstain from commenting on it personally. There are like 10 posts in this thread that clearly have no idea what is being described.
When people refer to an “overflow” they are rarely talking about 150 oranized guild mates in TS…
good job nonetheless though!
This needs an official response that’s more than we’re aware of the issue or its technical limitations.
If it is technical, gives us a timeline or a plan to fix it, or straight up tell us if it’s not going to change. This isn’t one of those issues that should be put on the back-burner. It needs to be addressed and constantly updated on until fixed, like culling.
Pretty much this. It is at least as, if not MORE important than culling, yet they have been utterly silent about the issue for 9 months now.
Can we get Teq killer tokens, or badges or something? Taking down teq is a hard, fun challenge, but right now the loot just isn’t worth crap. I think a better method instead of RNG would be a token system.
Put a vendor at the event location and sells items of various rarity. Ascended mats, Ascended weapons, the mini, etc, etc, all priced at various token costs.
Then drop 1 token each time you successfully defeat him. This would keep people playing the event for a long time instead of getting fed up with RNG and just not bothering after a few weeks.
JQ just got him down to 1-2% with the night crew at 4am. We were so close.
Will you guys be trying again tonight? I might stay up and help out. You guys got a lot further then the prime time crew.
I love the challenge they represent, however the medium for that challenge is inappropriate. This fight would have made an absolutely amazing 25m-raid. I would have enjoyed it weekly for months on end as a raid with a chance to get awesome exclusive loot.
As it is presented now it is frustrating, annoying, and nearly impossible unless you manage to take the open world out of the open world and get only your guild and friends in.
Not all at once. Sooner or later, the encounter will be mastered and will seem easy.
Increasing complexity teach people to be serious to their abilities and gear, as well as other players and combo mechanics.
If by “master” you mean eventually all the trolls will be banned and all the casual players will quit the game leaving it in financial ruin… then maybe.
That’s the only way this event will ever get “easier”
It’s true, JQ hits 75% after about 12 minutes. we hit 51% by then end of the 15. I almost think it would be too easy with another laser shot in there as funny as that sounds since I’ve failed it like 10 times now.
I’ll take an invite. This clearly isn’t happening on my home server.
JQ got to 51% tonight. That was with 2 turrets facing the wrong direction and spamming 1 on the ground. If we could get the trolls banned we might be able to break 50%
Agreed, something needs to be done about the turrets. JQ got turret trolled, 2 guys grabbed the turrets and spun them around and fired at the ground for the duration of the fight.
Ele seems to be the best choice. You can do 10x the dmg as any other class with conjured weapons.
It isn’t just BG, it’s all large servers. I’m on JQ and i’ve been in overflow for 2 hours, and we haven’t even come close to winning yet.
I agree with the message of this thread. At the very least make the fingers enemies instead of objects. The last role I could possibly contribute to was destroyed when I realized it would take me the entire 15 minute fight to kill a single finger with my scepter…

Sure it is fun right now if you can get 100 people in TS, working together, and have multiple organized guilds. That is going to happen maybe a couple dozen times, EVER. But the VAST, VAST majority of the time it is just frustrating and annoying in the open world. This is why raids are instanced in every other MMO for the last 10 years.
I already had a couple people stop defending the turret and let it blow up with the reason “it’s my turn to be in the turret, I need the achievement”…
Have fun playing by yourself… let me know how soloing him goes in a week when you are the only one left doing it.
For the last week I was told that as a condition spec player I would not be welcomed to attach teq since I would be wasting everyones time. Instead I was told that the only way I can actively participate would be to protect the turrets…
WELL I CAN"T FREAKIN PROTECT THE TURRETS BECAUSE THE FINGERS DON’T TAKE DAMAGE FROM CONDITIONS!!!!
So basically stack, get a guild on the turrets, and have at least 10,000 elementalists.
I found that by zoning in and out repeatedly it would eventually place me in the main server on JQ. Didn’t have to join a party or anything, just rapid zoning did the trick after a couple dozen tries.
Here’s the thing… only 5-10% of MMO players are capable of beating raid style bosses. That is why they are instanced and require large coordinated groups in other MMO’s. The open world is not coordinated. The typical people that show up are simply not capable of following directions and staying alive in this fight. I’d say only half of them even speak english.
People don’t WP because they are used to just waiting for a rez like they have done in every event since launch. People don’t dodge because it hasn’t been required for the last 12 months. You have this pathetically easy open world now with a raid boss in it. I don’t really know what Anet expected.
Even if people learn how to do the encounter, they’re not going to do it. Two rares, some ascended materials and a tiny chance at some unique items are not enticing enough to organize a good group and fight Tequatl for 15 minutes.
Actually it’s 45 ~ 60 minutes (each stage has a max timer of 15 minutes) for those drops so it’s even worse
no, it’s 15 minutes total. If it was 45 minutes then people could actually do it, that would be silly.
Remember, horizontal skill progression is coming this year. Expect each new skill to use 100+ SP’s… They will nerf them to the ground and then add in super expensive skills. You should stockpile while you can.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO 1%
crap… i’m guesting to BG…
If you know how to dodge then zerker gear is fine. If you struggle dodging then get soldiers gear, it is equivalent for damaging the dragon in this fight. Clerics gear is just slightly behind.
If you aren’t in at least full exotics, level 80, and have an optimum build then you are really just a waste of space. I would suggest leaving the fight and letting someone who is properly geared take your spot. You really need every bit of dps possible for this fight.
75%, 50% and 25% all award a small amount of karma, and 1 blue.
The win chest is supposed to be bigger though if anyone can get there.
Give it one week, or maybe more. One day is way to early to even ask for a nerf. No, 5 tries is not enough, this is in fact way too low for a top tier difficulty boss. Maybe at 50-75+ tries like in every god kitten heroic rain in every traditional mmo, we’ll talk. This is just being impatient with a mentality of a 12 years old giving up after one try for x or y reason. Get over it, and try again.
oh my mistake… I didn’t realize I had to play this game as a job and be frustrated and annoyed to win. Here I was playing it for fun… silly me… Guess only 12 year olds are allowed to have fun
Oh poor guy, can’t beat the hardest world pve game in the game first day. Or simply, can’t get everything you want first try, so you’re just going to make some dirty ultimatum: “I quit if it’s not getting nerfed, guild wars 2 is not a job” and so on. Get over it, I have no sympathy for this kind of mentality.
I can do the content just fine. unfortunately 79 other whiny people like you in blues make it just stupid and unfun.
TC is having a civil war in chat.
Not many people seem to be having fun. I’m done with it till it’s either fixed or figured out. I am having zero fun with the event. Seems very trollish.
Teq went from being able to be killed AFK to being ultra hard. Is there a middle road we can meet at?
I supposed to be hard. If this is meant to be GW2’s version of a raid, it needs to be hard and it needs to test the server’s ability to coordinate and work together. Being from Blackgate, that’s easy for me to say, but God knows there’s enough easy content in this game already…let’s keep this one the way it is for now.
There is a reason no game has done open world raids since EQ… They suck… most people aren’t good enough for raids.
If this was a 20m raid it would be really fun. As it is now it is just dumb.
On a funnier note, JQ actually wiped… it was a pretty awesome animation.
I gave it an honest effort. we organized, planned, split into groups, got good players into turrets.
We gave it everything we had and only got to 60% after 4 tries. 3 hours of playing and I have a total of -5s to show for it.
I am done with this event until it is either nerfed or moved to an instance where we can get rid of the hordes in blues.
JQ just got him to 60%. We might have been able to get to 50% but the whole server DC’d as he spawned. We lost 2 commanders and lost about 30 seconds just loading people back in.
5 people can rez you from fully dead in 15 seconds. it takes 1 minute to walk back. Until people learn to rez EVERYONE we probably won’t win the fight.
Has anyone gotten any loot from him? We got him to 90% on an overflow but no loot… waste of time imo, will probably skip it if there isn’t any loot.
No, world bosses are not crit-able period. However, the megalazer does seem to lower his defense in general.
Well the blue chest was not much to be excited about, but it is possible that even the blue dragon box could contain an ascended item.
This is completely and utterly untrue. The laser allows you to crit, as it always has, for the last 13 months….
add in the fact that the turrets can give you constant fury, 25 constant stacks of vuln and hopefully everyone is in zerker gear, means you can do almost 50% damage to him (in the old fight) during the 30 seconds of crit stage. This is one of the most important phases since you can crit.
You guys know that giant shiny laser lets you crit on teq right? protect the laser, swarm zerkers, get 6 real players on the turrets and profit.
The only real problem is the turrets. There is no way to keep stupid people and griefers off them, having 3 people being able to mess up an entire fight for 200 people is kinda poorly thought out…
Tequatl just spawned and was done the second time. Take note from these pictures that his stacks are removed and people are re-running instead of laying dead. Still not gotten past phase 1.
You have like no one there… no wonder you are failing… I only see like 6 commander icons too… what server are you on?
On JQ you can’t even see the ground in a typical teq fight because the screen is a sea of names. And forget the mini-map, 50-60 commanders blot it out like the sun.
No need a nerf, no need more turrets. Is content for organized ppl.
An open world boss that requires a minimum of 80 people is organized content?
Yeah…
What we need is more turrets, or a way to prevent stupid people from getting into turrets.
We beat him, it takes coordination and good commanders. How we did it was, we broke up into 5 man organized teams for each turret and the rest follow 2 commanders on 2 different pathways, one left, one right and split the turrets to defend either left or right zerg. This is very doable and I’m hearing the whiners already. They clearly need to learn strategy, which is fantastic. Love this new revamp!!!!
Sounds like you managed to get 6 competent players into the turrets. I think most people here are complaining about the very slim probability of that happening.
All it takes is 1-2 AFK players in the turrets and you’ll never win the fight.
Actually less then 6 ppl. At one point I’ve been on a turret and was spamming #2 on a dragon every time cd was up, only 1 stack is removed. Stacks were going up faster then I could clear them with 12 sec cd on skill #2.
I thought the stacks went up as you had people on foot attacking him. At least, that’s what I noticed.
I think the fingers apply stacks and poison. You need to kill the fingers.
The entire fight comes down to 6 people who may or may not be AFK and may or may not know what the hell they are doing.
There should be at least 20 turrets.
4 people Akitten turrets = waste of a patch.
The problem is that they let anyone on the turrets.
You shouldn’t be able to get in a turret if you have <8k AP’s. That would significantly cut down on the stupid people AFK’ing the turrets at least.
