Spvp was a failed experiment, at this point its best for them to ignore it and focus on pve and WVWVW.
Introduce new wvwvw maps, introduce Arena and Deathmatch, but not in heart of the mists.. use Tyria instead, let us use our REAL characters! The ones we actually leveled and grew fond of…. I hate logging into the mists and all my character’s exotics are gone… thats not my character and I dont want to play him.

Its fun, but certainly not fine. A single cry of frustration can bring any distracted enemy down in a second. Confusion should punish people for not paying attention, but certainly not bring their health bars to 0%
But Permanent SAB is not the answer, 30 days is plenty.
Would 30 days of WvW be plenty?
Would 30 days of Fractals be plenty?
What about the people who have no time to play this month?
Those were designed with the word “permanence” in mind, SAB wasnt and if they wanted to make it permanent they would have to redesign a proper reward system, which I dont think they will soon. If anything and Arenanet agrees to make it permanent, they will take it off after the 30 days and bring it back again in a few months when they have more weapon skins ready, more zones and a redesigned reward system.
I think part of this outcry for SAB is because we were all but promised mini-games all the way leading up to launch. People even snuck into the unfinished Polymock arenas (presumably) during the betas.
Then comes launch and all we have is Keg Brawl, even though the hints about a mini-game for each race were there, and I am pretty sure it was even stated that each race would eventually have their own.
Also, for me personally SAB is a clear throwback to the beta finale events, take a zone and completely change the mechanics, only SAB is its own thing and even more ambitious than the branding or hunger royale. I am pretty sure I am not the only one, the beta finales proved that they could do some pretty impressive stuff in a short time span with little resources too.
This I can agree on, the game does lack mini-games. The mayor cities all feel empty and theres nothing to do in them. But Permanent SAB is not the answer, 30 days is plenty.
This game needs fun content and SAB is fun content, so….

Wait till you get ported out or move away from the chest. Then you can quit and log into another alt without any glitches
People keep asking to make some events permament, while I understand the feeling, doing so will do more harm than good.
You are having fun right now, sure, but give it 3 weeks and most people will get it over their systems.
Making holiday events temporary keeps it exiting and fresh and gives people a reason to return to Tyria next year. I for one cant wait to do the halloween and christmas jumping puzzles again!

Can we please get the noise toned down? The constant “dingaling-dingaling” sound is very distracting, it should at least dissapear after a while. Or just be removed.
I am not talking about the noise that happens when you sheathe your weapon, but the sparkly noise that loops once the weapon is out.
mesmers are only decent in 1v1, but in team fights an elementalist is pretty much god-mode while the mesmer can easily be shutdown
im not computer savy but, arent there any signs or simptoms that could have alerted the guy? Like crashes or slow-downs?
I cant imagine a guy just playing the game fine with no issues and the card melting a second later…
Please give us the option to disable Titles, in large battles they cover a lot of my screen space with information I dont really need :/

I would like if Arenanet would respond to this thread, its a shame that a game known for its “play the game, not the UI” minimalistic design went the wrong way and now my sceen is cluttered with unneccesary information I really dont need.

Red/Blue/Green Invader should work fine, but I agree, something needs to be done. The visual noise is very irritating

I like this game’s minimalistic approach when it comes to user interface, but since the patch the player names and titles just bombard my screen with unnecesary clutter!

I feel pretty disgusted with this… we have been asking for dueling, spectating, arenas and deathmatches since release… this is pretty much the closest thing we can get and they are charging us for it.
If I had known it was going to be this way I wouldnt have bought the game.

We will stop using spvp servers as training grounds when we actually get training grounds, its ridiculous that a such a basic feature didnt made it at release
1- remove conquest mode
2- introduce deathmatch and arena

Im glad none of you guys are devs on this game, every class needs a weakness, ours is speed. We are already strong as it is with many good builds at our disposal.
If you want speed, get rune of the centaur and focus, its almost 100% swiftness uptime
It should just be “throw rock” and “heal” imo, just those 2 abilites and NOTHING else. Downstate takes the fun away from playing well and rewards those who play bad.
The game needs a gold sink, and they arent that expensive. Nourishments are here to stay, enough mechanics have been stripped from WvW that it almost feels like I warped into another game.
People that like PVP enjoy it because its fun to kill others, yet we dont have duels and yet we dont have arenas and yet we dont have deathmatch…. why? Its like the devs want to discourage us from killing each other….
Yes people get upset when they die, but guess what, that encompasses 90% of online games.
stealth is completely broken in this game… as long as a class can dissapear at will every 5 seconds we will continue to see more and more thieves and mesmers, and the worst part is that these two classes are so bursty.. it rewards you for playing bad.
no duels or arena, deathmatches just break the deal for me… conquest mode isnt a bad idea but the map designs aren just horrendous, Arathi Basin is simple yet brilliant, you can see how the match progresses in almost any point-hold, unlike GW2 where the maps are cluttered with objects and buildings and trees and you really cant see anything.. its so claustrophobic.

Weeks ago me and some people in the EB JP reported this engi for teleport hacking, under the “Botting” category, but he still logs and plays to this day.
Just now we saw a norn using a fly hack in EB JP, right infront of everybody and everyone saw it…. he was flying in mid air with the falling animation. We reported, but… do the devs actually pay attention to this? There is no category for “Hacking” under the report button.
fighting something that dissapears every 5 seconds is not fun, I thought WoW Rogues were bad but at most they can only vanish twice in a fight. Thieves? They vanish every 5 seconds…
This thread is an embarrassing pile of whiny kitten.
If every class was balanced to be a master duelist people would get bored and leave. Rotating balance, along with dynamic team compositions is what keeps people interested. Stop crying that you lost 1v1 to a duelist class, that’s their job, learn how to play the game.
Adding in a balance on whether the class or spec is better at 1v1 or team fighting adds another level to professions as well as pvp matches and the game in general. People don’t want to sit there with their thumb up their kitten and pick from a Ford Focus and a Honda Civic, they want to pick from a variety and feel special for doing so. Oh no a Suzuki Ninja cant carry four passengers comfortably like the Focus, kitten the Ninja it shouldn’t be allowed on the road. Oh also, kitten the rednecks that want a pickup. Screw their desire to drive that half ton of dirt they dug up to roast a pig into the sunset so their 18 sons can build a jump for their ancient dirt bike.
What you and arenanet want is rock, paper, scissors… that would be fine and dandy, except its currently rock, paper, scissors, and Goku. Goku has close to no counters.. because of that, everyone wants to be Goku. Everyone thinks Goku is how all classes should be.
We players want to win because of our skill, not because I played the appropiate class. Balancing for 1v1 is the only way to go.
A bit sad that I didnt get a special achievement or reward but hell, each one of them felt like a unique adventure and it was so satisfying getting to the chests. Jumping puzzlers are easily my favorite part of the game other than dueling in the windmill area in wvwvw.

The best classes in 1v1 have always been the most desirable in teams in just about any MMORPG.
The balance in this game is not bad, there is no need for any major changes… just implement some counters to stealths, tone down bunker builds and buff the bad weapons.
Hardest: pistol/dagger thieves (good ones), phantasm mesmers
Easiest: Everything else, I dont know why you people are having trouble with eles

GS + sword/pistol against ranged classes
and
Staff + sword/sword against melee classes
Theres no need to design a new map or create new skills, all the assets are already there… implementing dueling is just a matter of one guy coding for an hour and that it.. so please stop with the “not a priority” excuse.

I dont know why they opted conquest instead of deathmatch.. you already have capture-the-points in wvwvw, why again? You would think people that join spvp are there to.. kill people in a match of skill and dexterity without having to worry about capturing places and guarding them.
exotics are super easy to get, if you are not lvl 80 then make that your priority
The thing is, its a feature that would be very quick to implement and make many players happy. A single holiday activity, lets say the snowy pvp fight on wintersdday, probably took a LOT more time to design, code and test than it would have took creating a feature to allowing 2 people to fight anywhere in the world. All the assets are already there, no need to design maps or create new skills…
So the “they need to focus on other things first” excuse is groundless considering just how simple the solution is. A competent coder can do it in an hour.

dont worry, private servers are coming soon, and people will be very willing to spend their money on a standard feature that should have been here in the first place
in the mean time, if you join a server with 4 or less people, just leave as you most likely joined into a dueling group
the only thing that closely resembles open world PVP is the EB jumping puzzle… outside its just masses of zergs and lag and culling.. not fun, but in the jumping pizzle the smaller fights are much more fun and more opportunity to 1v1
deathmatch? solo-queue? duels? ratings? spectating? riduculous!, lets just add another pve dungeon and more conquest maps.
