They went through all this trouble to try and make the world at least feel dynamic and alive, and you want them to put a timer in it.
Here’s a post you might like to read. Has some useful info in it.
Good luck

Walking into the Black Citadel really broke immersion for me. Even the Asura’s technology at least looks feasible as it are magically powered device and they look as such. The Charr vehicles are just a step to far imho.
In my opinion the style fits them nicely. They despise magic anyway so they have to compensate with ingenuity and technological advancement. But that’s just a matter of taste anyway.
The charr race was forged in the merciless crucible of war. It is all they know.
What’s wrong with the forums. Just write it all down here, we’d love to read it.
Yes, let’s remove one time events! And while we’re at it, remove dynamic events altogether, because you know, some people can’t be in-game 24-7 and thus cannot see every event out there. Let’s just assign all activities to NPC’s and mark them somehow .. maybe an exclamation mark above their head? That would be awsome.
Why don’t we just abandon MMO’s and just make single player games so noone ever misses anything?
I mean seriously. If you get upset for missing a one-time thing in a game how the hell are you managing real life?
yeah the spam restriction is pretty silly. I once got restricted when I was linking my friends a set of armor in WVW – did it in normal chat so we can all see, I linked the first 3 items too fast and it won’t let me link the remaining two face palm
You do know that you can link more than one item in one message, right?
Don’t get me wrong people, i know it can be a problem in some scenarios ( like the guild welcome thing ), but it’s either that or allowing spamming, and i for one would rather pay some attention to what i’m doing than to read endless “LFG 3/5” messages on my screen. You have to understand it’s not easy to develop a system that pleases everyone.
Well, the only time i got this message is when i tried to equip a mining pick while holding the CTRL key .
Other than that, i never got blocked and i use map chat all the time and i type really fast, but i did get rid of my bad MSN habit where i wrote 2-3 words per line and my sentences looked like crap so maybe that has something to do with it.
And being hurt because you were spamming isn’t sad. It’s the way it should be. Hopefully you will learn something out of it and it won’t happen again.
There’s a same topic just a couple of lines down on the first page. Why couldn’t you check that one out. Everything’s explained there.
To answer your question: 3 identical messages in a row (in a short timespan) is considered spamming. Next time just change your message a bit and you’ll be fine.
Short answer: Yes, long answer: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssss
You see other people’s pigeons as well ( pay attention when you’re in the trading post in LA, you’ll see lots of them ).
It also flies over you when you’re underwater which is kind of weird.
What profession and combo are you using?
I’m using a 2h sword + Sword/Shield combo on my warrior and i’m not having any problems.
1. I’m not sure about this one, as i understand the rewards are just scaled to your level.
2. I’ve received a couple of yellows so far and i haven’t been farming or using MF at all so i guess you’re just unlucky
I sometimes use MF food if i have it on-hand, but other than that i just rely on luck. The less worry the better
Probably got murdered by jackalopes while protecting them from the Sons of Svanir. Oh the irony.
I can honestly say my client has never crashed ( not since beta anyway ) and i have never been stuck in a loading screen. Maybe your hardware has something to do with it?
As for fighting ghosts, it usually happens when you join a region with a lot of players and it takes time for the server to feed you data for your client to display. This can not be completely eliminated because there’s just too much stuff going on.
For some reason you don’t like players having money. I don’t know why, but a single gold in the game is a real accomplishment even at higher levels, which is…weird.
Just think of it like this: if everyone could get 100g easy one month after release. What would happen in a year. Or two. If everyone could get tons of money real easy then something is wrong. And money would loose it’s value or be worthless altogether. There would be no point in having any at all.
As i understand it’s a “mark” on your profile. So in future when you do something bad it’s easier to decide what to do with you :P
So, if they see a ton of infractions on your profile you get a ban, if not, it’s a warning.
But that’s just how i understand it.
Most big attacks have long wind-up with special effects going on, so they’re pretty easy to spot. Some are harder tho. You just have to learn as you go.
So i guess spam suppression is the topic of the day?
Here you go
http://beta.xfire.com/games/gw2
You will now probably claim that these statistics are irrelevant or something
Statistics without the right data are useless.
This, as i understand, is the total game hours clocked by people using xfire while ingame. There is no information on the number of players ( or i can’t find it ) nor does it represent the entire GW2 community. I for one don’t know anyone that uses xfire.
So it could be that on release 50k xfire users played 2 hrs/day on average and these 50k players now play for less than 1 hr/day on average.
Or that half of those quit, and the other half still play 2 hrs/day.
Or there are even more players online than on launch, just playing less each day.
So basicly .. it pretty much is irrelevant.
The Charrzooka,
Cow finisher,
Flamethrower,
Mesmer clones,
Thief steal,
etc..
As for the ranger.
Ranger + greatsword, all 5 skills.
Ranger + sword, the skill where you stab the mob and evade, and with a 2nd press jump right back into the fight, not to mention the unique kick-in-the-balls with your primary sword attack – priceless.
Well this is how i see it:
It’s supposed to be a warzone. And warzones are chaos. I really like the way they made the place. It’s a constant battle between two sides. Put a bunch of hearts in there and it ruins the whole idea. You go there for war and war only, not to help some farmers water their plants ( going to extremes with this one, but i’m making a point :P ).
And by the time you get there you’re supposed to know how things worked anyway. I got to 80 yesterday just by following the story and doing the events that came up on the way.
Fun game but if thats all there is then im basicaly done. If i want mindless stuff id go play wow or swtor.
So you don’t want mindless stuff, but you’re annoyed that there are no arrows pointing to where you need to go?
Oh? I think i’ve read somewhere that they are going to change from month to month. I’m not sure tho, that’s why i’m asking if they changed.
Is it the same monthly achievement as last month? If not, can anyone post this month’s goals.
Thanx.
I just got my warr to 80 yesterday and i had tons of fun with it all the way. There’s nothing better than rushing into a crowd just to realize that you may have just overestimated your capabilities. And then 2 more mobs you haven’t noticed join the party.
Good times..
As i understand raids are used in games to keep people playing by providing a possibility of receiving better weapons and armor. So in a game like Guild Wars, where all armor and weapons ( talking about lvl 80 stuff ) have the same stats, raids, in a classic sense, are pointless.
Whenever i join a typical world boss fight, after we kill it we get a chest. First 5 messages are ALWAYS “oh this sucks, i didn’t get anything good”. Now what do you think would happen if GW had raids? I’m guessing the exact same thing. You still wouldn’t be getting any better gear than you already have.
You have to face the fact that raids ( at least in the way they are in other games ) do not belong in GW. Oh yes i agree, it would be cool to have huge scripted missions that involved teamwork and all, but you would have to change the way they work. And then people would complain some more.
So basically, if they’re not the target for a DE then they’re just a big, annoying obstacle that’s there for no reason other than taking a long time to kill.
Most of the time they’re guarding a rich metal vein, a chest or a field of strawberries or some such. At least in my experience.
@Soulwatcher, That’s why i haven’ joined a guild yet. Waiting for the initial rush to cool down
I keep logging in because it’s still interesting and i still haven’t tried everything out.
The Hell is Diablo?
Think you mean Diblo 3, man.
Yeah, doh. The topic title is misleading too.
Most definetly. I find my self distracted for hours helping those little buggers, can’t bare seeing them get hurt :/
You have both, level and distance.
@Konig Des Todes, I just wanted to drop in and say that i’m really impressed with your posts. Where do you get this stuff? I don’t know much about lore so your posts (here and on guru) really make things clear. Just keep ’em coming
Again with the under-population?
And the answer is no, they can’t scale to one person. Not all of them at least. To give you an example why: by that logic the Shatterer should be able to scale to one person too. But that would be stupid. Some are meant to be hard and/or impossible for one person to handle.
Most of the servers last night were Full/High populated, and people are still waiting for 2 hours to join WvW. I have no idea what you are talking about.
End game is 20 minutes of spamming “2” in a turret
Most exciting boss fight ever.
End game is what you make of it. If you want to spam “2”, great.
Most of the frustration on these forums is caused by the game being different. People say they want change but really expect everything to stay the same.
Of all the things to compare it with, you chose crack. Your intentions were good. Your choice of words was not.
Yeah every Elder dragon has a champion and Glint was Kralkatorrik’s. Her ability to read minds was from him. Iirc she felt sorry for the people or something and left Kralkatorrik ( someone correct me if i’m wrong ). In any case, she was his champion in the past and then wanted to kill him ( 2nd book ).
The deep sea dragon is the 5th dragon ( and is called “Bubbles” :P ) but his real name is still not known.
But it is believed there are a total of 6 Elder dragons (the 6th one being mentioned by the Jotun as the “6th World Devourer” ) but it’s still not ceratin if he exists or not. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Well it’s never easy to recommend something to someone else because we all have different tastes. I also like to have a good melee-ranged combination and i for one have found the warrior to be a best fit. It’s just the fact that there’s a huge range of weapons i can use and i enjoy trying out new combinations ( I’m on greatsword / longbow atm ). Rangers are pretty good too, a lot of useful traps, etc to play around with. In the end you just have to give all classes a chance, you never know if they’ll surprise you unless you try.
It’s a new system. You have to understand that a DE system is not easy to make. They have to start randomly, they have to scale, a lot of them are different, some require you to defend, some to attack, some to collect, some to escort. Then you have random stuff happening in the middle of events. Win states, fail states. There’s a lot of things that can go wrong (and is, as you can see in game). Scaling is the hardest imo. You have to consider a lot of things: number of other people, their levels, skills, other mobs that are in the area that are not a part of the DE but can still join the fight, etc.
Now compare it to a classic system.
You accept a quest.
Now it’s basicly just a counter: you kill an enemy:
Is the enemy on the checklist? Yes: killCount++;
killCount == killRequirement? Yes: endQuest;
Nothing much can go wrong.
Just give it some time.
You just have to find something that doesn’t feel like a grind. Maybe join a guild and help other people with their leveling/story quests. Hunt for achievements and titles – that one always works for me since there’s a ton of them and if one starts to feel like a grind, i just do a different one. Try keg brawl. Try cooking, cook stuff for your guild mates. Cooking involves a lot of running around, visiting different areas and i bet you didn’t discover all the recipes.
Okay, these are all good points, but in my example I’m really referring to random people that are just running around the map doing events and whatnot. We’re not in the same guild. We haven’t spoken to each other at all (random strangers).
Force of habit? I get a lot of those invites too, don’t really know what to do with them so if i’m in a chatty mood i let them in, if i want to be left alone i ignore
Don’t give up yet. Most of the players are pretty anti-social in all mmo-s. I am used to people running by me while i’m getting slapped arround by 3 mobs and most of the time no one stops to help. I often got yelled at in other games for trying to help someone, so i’d say this one’s not that bad.
In my experience it’s best to look for groups of 2 or 3 since they obviously like playing with someone. You’ll learn to read body language too ( as strange as that may sound ). You can try using emoticons like /cheer when you finish a DE and so on and look for a response. Communication is the key, it doesn’t have to be verbal.
(“excuse me, I don’t know if you remember me but we teamed up yesterday, would you be up for xxx?”)
Don’t try this line on a girl, it rarely goes well for me.
Bugged skill challenges and dynamic events everywhere.
The game seems to have far more issues now than how it was a couple weeks ago.
The game has less issues, the only difference is players are more evenly spread across all zones so they just find bugs faster.
Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the PvE, but if you like PvE you looooove getting cool rewards when you do something above and beyond. Its such a simple concept that its hard to imagine how it went completely over Anet’s head.
On a side note, the lvl 50 rare gear I bought from the Trade post looked EXACTLY the same as one of the lvl 80 token sets in Lion’s Arch. What??? Are you kidding me with this? Way to not have a clue about progression.
You haven’t played much of GW1, have you?
It should be more like soul caliber, I want to be able to parry, I want high mid and low attacks, power attacks, combos, and instead of planting a flag in someone I want fatalities.
But I doubt that would happen so I’m content with the current fighting system.
You have 1 dodge and most of the players don’t know how use it. Good luck with the rest
Charr don’t really trust magic and those that use it due to past events, but to answer your question, lore-wise they would fit in the Flame legion.
It basicly goes like this:
Ash = stealth
Iron = tech
Blood = traditional combat
Flame = magic
But since you can’t pick the Flame legion you have a problem
Yesterday i got someone who revived me saying Get Up Soldier And Give them Hell !..something like that..was funny though
.I myself dont really roleplay..well if i do its just me myself and i fantasizing in my own head.
While on the topic, is there a way to macro / keybind these kind of things. I would love to have my character say something like this on a press of a key. Not to spam of course but to have my character say stuff while in battle.
