The sword was his. Why would he give you his stuff?

cause it isn’t his.
if you play sylvari line, YOU got the sword first.

the sword has a purpose…which it isn’t used for. instead its used as a kitten toilet plunger

ArenaNet-Try Harder(to get me to)Pre-Order

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: arenta.2953

arenta.2953

Sigh here we go again.

1. Don’t preorder if you don’t want to.

2. If you play gw2 and enjoy it your going to buy it.

3. Before gw2 came out they didn’t go over every single event and map, they won’t do that for expansion either.

4. They aren’t trying to get YOU to preorder. They are targeting a base majority of the players. I preordered happily because $50 isn’t much and I’ll play it.

These threads need to stop.

Did you even look at my original post? I asked them how many new legendaries we were getting. I feel that is a reasonable thing to ask before i slap money down. These threads don’t need to stop. What needs to happen is ArenaNet being more transparent with what we are spending our money on. I’m not asking for story beats or spoilers. I am asking what the breadth of the content of this x-pac is to determine if it’s worth my money.

you’ll get plenty of content.
with an undetermined number of legendaries 3 confirmed at launch, with 3 more planned later, and more likely to show up after that)

thing you need to realize is that this expansion is basically a season pass to all new content coming out.

if you don’t buy it, you’ll be limited to holiday content for new content.

you wont get the new living world, or any of the new events in these new parts of the world.

before you complain
look at WoW
look at GW1
look at DDO
look at basically any game with expansions

GW2 gave more content for its vanilla game than other games give with 3 or MORE expansions.
and it doesn’t charge monthly

plus its given alot of new content like livign world season 1 and 2, karka event, and more! which any other game would have charged you for.

all of this…for the price of GW2… its hard to believe the ammount of content

and now a pay for expansion comes. if you aren’t a greedy kitten, you’ll buy the expansion for no other reason than Anet has given you so much content for the vanilla game.
even if you don’t play it, you should buy it cause look how much free bonus content the devs have given you since you bought the vanilla game.

the expansion will be plenty large, and we can expect more content following it, which will be largely limited to people who bought the expansion.

in total, the ammount of content you’ve been given in this game thus far is equal to 5-6 expansions in other games..
you’ve paid for 1 game

and now an expansion is coming, which will contain content for 1 expansion + an unknown number of additional expansions.

so stop being a greedy kitten . you should be thankful Anet has been so generous as to not charge you $300 for vanilla game, and $30-60 each for all the new content since

If you get injured a lot, you’re not a good player.

8)

In seriousness, if you’re not just 100% fully trolling like I suspect you are, then you need to learn the difference between mechanics and story.

Because honestly, our PC can walk away from kitten that would make Superman cry.

my point is i hate Trahearne…
if he really WAS wounded. he could have given me that freakin sword.

i wish tybalt had lived and trahearne died……but no. i get stuck with the bad character and watch an epic character go down epicly, but not epic enough for the difference in epic between him and trahearne.

If you read the dialogue, you’d know that Trahearne was injured from cleansing Orr of corruption and thus was physically incapable of going to fight Zhaitan.

I don’t think you’d wade into battle if you could barely stand (which was the case for Trahearne).

oh wah wah trahearne was injured

who did most of the fighting?
the player character.

how many times have we been injured?
ALOT MORE THAN TRAHEARNE.

but Trahearne gets a scratch and hides.
while we get shot and continue on.

hell tybalt fought to the last. was he scared of any number of injuries stopping him?
no. he was a kitten who said “COME AT ME”

Trahearne was a wimp who got a scratch and hide at base

2.) At the start of the beta Canach says that only weaked willed sylvari are turned to mordremoth the rest fight so its possible some of the nightmare court have turned and some haven’t.

weak willed.
yep thats Traeharne.
he never does anything unless his mother or you tell him to do it.

and even then he oh so conveniently avoided fighting zhaitan while everyone else found time
and the result? he survived.

and then lead the pact to a place they can’t fall back from, with a large number of sylvari in the fleet.
and did you notice he fired into the jungle…..before we knew if anything was there.

he kittened the jungle off. causing the pact to die.

he’s been a minion all along.

at least we can trust canach. He’s a good guy.

Question for Necro: blood magic

Posted by: arenta.2953

arenta.2953

Also since this is vaguely a thread about blood magic, do you guys know if mercy runes boosts the revive speed for transfusion and life from death?

No, they don’t.

For OP – Keep in mind that multiple Vampiric Presences do not stack. So if there’s other Necro with that trait, it’s better to run Life from Death if you have CD reduction on Shroud in build or some healing power. Or Warhorn trait for more Vampiric procs from Locust.

thanks =D

Beta Weekend Story held an exceptional surprise in the area of Lore and general Emerson. Our characters are no longer along for the ride. We did not sit back and watch cut scenes of other characters taking the lead in key actions, with a multi-class skill set.
This time it was our character directing, our characters leading, and our actions developing the story, in a live action fashion.
Thank You for this turn in direction. I am looking forward to more of this.

General Reaper Feedback

GS damage needs to be buffed BIG time! I remember you guys saying you were going for that monster movie feel where the monster is slow but it’s always coming for you and once it gets you it’s all over like Jason. You can keep the attack speed the same but that damage you get once you get a hit needs to hit HARD to make up for how slow it is. It really is just not worth using over dagger.

dmg buffed.
or increase the duration of that chilled effect so that the enemy attacks slower as well so that the dmg is brought down to the dmg level of the GS

Trahearne first Reaper?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: arenta.2953

arenta.2953

As all we know, Trahearne is a Necromancer. And after Claw island, he use Caladbolg, that’s a Greatsword. So, is he the first Reaper of HoT, similar to Rytlock is the first Revenant?

Trahearne is
1. a wimp (who doesnt do anything unless his mother tells him, or you tell him)
2. rarely uses NECROMANCER abilities. (once…i’ve only seem him summon the undead ONCE)
3. his GS has LIGHT abilities. liek a mesmer.

Reaper is
1. epic and deadly
2. darkness abilities
3. a necromancer

marjory is a necromancer. and a possible Reaper. she matches the 3 things i listed for reaper.

Trahearne matches 0/3 of them. in fact he’s so anti necro he matches -3/3 of them.

so NO.

in fact. lets make it -4/3 cause he’s so anti necro that his whole point of being is to destroy the undead of orr completely and bring life.

while that might be the “good” thing to do. its not what a necro would do. a necro would see the appeal to orr and try to use the undead there to increase their own power.

After playing revenant in the beta, I think a skill like their sword #3 (Unrelenting Assault!) would make a great melee staff skill, especially because of the shadowstep play.

For those that don’t know what it looks like, the player basically jumps to their foe, then ports around them with a flurry of rapid strikes. Very flashy move and fun to use.

except its already on sword….

its how CoD does it every release.

-Moredremoth guards seem OP or UP. way to much dmg or ignorable dmg (seems to mostly be the bow users that do overkill burst dmg, while melee i can sit there alt tabbed and not care)
-Reaper to easy to interrupt non stop(GS) or dodge with ease.
-reaper GS 1 frost is to short (its over before you get 1 more hit in). 5 to….flimsy. doesnt work correctly
-2 Mordremoth menders is a PAIN TO KILL. turn down the healing on those. i don’t have a full part
-female asura armor is STILL copy pasted male…..come on T.T
-Trahearne is still alive(apparently…..why can’t he die)

+reaper GS 2 3 and 4 are epic
+love how character speaks now. giving belief i really a commander (instead of a silent stalker who only talks when her “master” lets her in a conversation
+Story seems FAR superior to vanilla (believable quests. survive till dawn. far superior than “survive”)
+amazing visuals (skills AND enemies AND terrain)
+Anet defenitly brought their A-Game.
+Reaper Ult is best ult for Necro yet!
+believable mistrust of Sylvari. not just “i dont trust”, but actually fleshed out and believable! (the atmosphere also helps with that)
+LOVE new reaper shroud. but i kinda miss my old necro shroud. so theres merits to both. necro is ranged. reaper is melee

Bug: Reaper GS 2 skill if used when stationary can’t move while using. but if used while moving, can continue to move. or stop.

*Mist Scrim is Heavy armor only?! my Necro wants it!!!

It’s also a 5 year old image. It was probably from a time in dev where ANet was thinking about Rifle thief.

After all that time passed, you really cannot make much out of it. If the Thief didn’t get the rifle at the game release, there must have been a reason. But now that 3 years passed, the game changed, the understanding of the game by ANet changed a lot too.

Seriously, our ranged options were constantly nerfed, starting with a Shortbow range nerf, cluster arrow travel speed drastically slowed etc…

Do you really believe that after all those long range fight nerfs, we’ll suddently get a 1200 (or +) range weapon with more damage and/or burst than what we currently have? It just makes no sence.

If thief gets a 1200 range rifle, it’ll be weaker damage than our current tools.

i think they’ll have it work like ranger LB. (aka more dmg with range)
it wont be a dmg god like Sword or dagger (and staff DEFENITLY wouldnt have dmg. it would have kitten dmg at best)

but it will have more dmg than pistol and shortbow. at the cost of havin many channel/ stationary skills (that require you to hold still to use) with longer range (1200)

add to this the stealth mechanic
and it would be single solid dmg hits. and then long cooldowns

imagine a warrior rifle with vulernability on the 1 skill (and 4/5 skills replaced by the warrior burst skill with 30 secound cooldown. or 45 secound. and the other skill a smoke shot(blinds while knocking back)

Thief is getting rifle tough

That assumption is entirely based on the trailer and coming from a five second lasting scene with a thief-looking NPC wielding a rifle. For all we know it could have been an Engineer as well, or one of those environmental sniper rifle NPCs.

We actually have the same level of proof that Thief is getting Staff as we had with Elementalists and their Warhorn. Datamining showed two things: A specialization background art for the elite specialization and a weapon skin akin to the weapon shown on the background art.

The specialization background art: http://i.imgur.com/xA8qvVk.png
And no, thats clearly not for Revenants. This one is brown/black/red, the colorcode of almost all Thief art, while the Revenant uses strong red tones with and pitch-black background.

The staff in question: [&AgFgEQEAAA==] , http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/gw2-staff.jpg
Totally looks like the Staff in the art piece.

For further information: http://dulfy.net/2015/06/24/gw2-upcoming-items-from-june-23-patch/

The ascended weapons shown all correspond to the specialization backgrounds known or datamined. The Bow clearly is from Braham (Dragonhunter), the Greatsword is from the Reaper, Warhorn is Elementalist and the Shield is somewhat Glint-y or Shatterer-y in appearance, hinting towards the Revenants Elite Specialization which we know will be Glint as a Legend while the Mesmer’s Shield in the trailer looked completly different and this one doesnt fit the theme of the Mesmer at all.

Chances for Thief getting Rifle as his first Elite Specialization weapon are in the 1% range right now, and as much as i´d love to have a 1.2k ranged weapon on my Thief, i hope the Staff brings back the viability of stealthless fighting. I hope its a bruiser style.

to you

but to some of us, the fact its a rifle being used like a shotgun (come on. no idiot fires a sniper like that) kills the appeal for playing an engineer

Good thing not all rifle skins have that “sniper appeal” to them.

Specializations... Killing the game?

Almost every single traitline got buffed like mad and some very niche, pointless and poor builds got changed around. I don’t see a problem. Most people I’ve talked to love the specialisation system, after adjusting their various builds to fit with it.

RIP thief pistol/pistol
RIP ranger traps(throwable)

so…..buff? what buff. forcing us to play “League builds” instead of our old “less effective but more fitting to our own playstyle” build?

Just for curiosity… How about ppl using “less effective” builds and crying on forums because ppl kick/avoid them?

P.S.
I don’t use meta builds as i don’t use clown builds, just to be clear: I use personal builds with suggestions from my guildes usually.

eh i didn’t cry. though i probably should have.

back when i only got kicked 30% of time i’d just jump to next group

but now. they see 2 pistols and its kick time…and i’ve abandoned the class entirely.

Hmm…

While I don’t mind the specialization system (either way is fine to me); I’m a bit curious on what build variety has been lost. Can anyone compose some builds that were possible in the old system but not new one? I can think of a few.

The discussion is fine and all, but I think some specific examples should be thrown out. Don’t include traits that have been removed, because that’s not an inherent problem with the trait system but rather trait selection which is a separate issue.

I hope its a bruiser style.

they changed Ele’s “sepcialization page” from sword to horn

they can do it to theif.

I just wanna point out to all those “Rangers” here that the LB acually has had a range of 1800 pretty much ALWAYS U just had 2 trait it before (1800 with AA thanks to drop)

This is actually true and has been for years: the fact that they have much longer distances to fire than it is intended.

You are incorrect about it not being intended. All skills that fire projectiles in this way have in built ability to fire further than the tool tip states.

depends on if you firing down on someone. or up at someone

down on someone yes u have longer range

but firing up at someone, your range can be pretty kitten short. (like firing at an archer in WvW. it can hit you but you can’t hit it cause it has the high ground)

Sounds like Anet got the physics right then.

yep

while rifles and pistols don’t have an arc
so they the same shooting down
as they are shootign up

but gain no range. lose no range

i like it xD

Almost every single traitline got buffed like mad and some very niche, pointless and poor builds got changed around. I don’t see a problem. Most people I’ve talked to love the specialisation system, after adjusting their various builds to fit with it.

RIP thief pistol/pistol
RIP ranger traps(throwable)

so…..buff? what buff. forcing us to play “League builds” instead of our old “less effective but more fitting to our own playstyle” build?

They screw up some build and that’s wrong, but overall we have more good option now than we use to have. They should keep improving it and fixing some of the build they broken.

while they did give more good options

people will miss what they enjoyed.

sometimes its more fun to have a bad build thats fun to play. instead of a good build that feels like 90% of all other builds.

i miss throwing traps and having a pistol build that didn’t get me kicked from parties 100% of the time (Pistol/pistol gets me kicked from parties 100% of the time now. before rickrocket was removed, i only got kicked 30% of the time)

not to say i dislike all the changes
i’ve NEVER had this much fun on necro before!

its now my favorite class and reaper incoming makes it more appealing

i’ve made a necro build (all about extendign chill duration. using power, vit, and toughness) and despite the lack of crit and condition dmg. its surprisingly godlike.

all power, toughness, and vitality.
add to that the many life steals and pulse hp recovers that reaper vampirics give. and the reaper’s GS will give. and i think this will be a new meta

the lack of crit/condition dmg is made up for in the chill duration, and bonus dmg from vampirics.

while the toughness and vit (plus shroud) makes glass cannons fail to burst me. and then melt before my steady hits (dagger mainhand kekekekke)

overall. yeah people are underestimating reaper

1 class can wield rifle
the other weilds a knock off shotgun that you can’t even aim down its sights. nothing but hipfire.

That makes it less boring than the Warriors counterpart.

to you

but to some of us, the fact its a rifle being used like a shotgun (come on. no idiot fires a sniper like that) kills the appeal for playing an engineer

Traeharne Breaking Continuity

Ah yes, because GW2 has facebook and thus Trahearne would know every single person you’ve met with beforehand.

no i mean i’ve met gorr twice before
once in lv 30 story
and once in the claw island story. WITH TRAHEARNE.

Traeharne Breaking Continuity

in Lore

arenta.2953

heh i got a whole list of reasons to hate trahearne..

hopefully we see him die in opening of HoT (preferably in a way that i don’t have to listen to him give a last speech….how about he blows up? or turns into a villian)

also this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rfd1MKzyjk

plus…..all the story missions were epikittenIL he showed up. his appearence is pretty much the sign that the story goes downhill and becomes more cliche and uninteresting.

i mean look at Asura story lv 1-30 (and hten orders at lv 40)

and then lv 50’s claw island is fun, but becomes a bore at parts where Trahaerne talks….and then dies when you go to his mother to see orr and then he becomes leader somehow (not that he DOES anything. you make all the decisions cause he can’t do a DANG THING without you)

lv 60 -80. endless throwaway characters(like hte norn who gets captured by krait after saying she admires you and dies………should i care about her? apparently since i had to go to holbrak to talk about her. i don’t give a rats kitten about her….

Trahearne basically marks the decline of the story from fun and replayable

to dull and gag worthy.

Traeharne Breaking Continuity

in Lore

Posted by: arenta.2953

arenta.2953

so i’ve come to realize that (other than being poorly voice acted, horrible dialogue, and a general BORE of a character)
Traeharne tends to break continuity…

like?
this screenshot.

“may i present Professor Gorr, who you have never met till now and so i must explain who he is”

its like i didn’t go through a ton of personal story missions with him before now.
heres a list

A Meeting of the Minds
Field Test
Lines of Communication
Protest Too Much
Pry the Eye Open
Rakt and Ruin
Test Subject

aka EVERY SINGLE ORDER. Durmand Priory, Order of Whispers, and Vigil….
and even for all races
Magic Sucks (thats the quest name)

……so are we just going to introduce characters every time i see them AGAIN as if i never met them?

seriously. this isn’t the first time Traeharne(who just butts his fat head into the story at battle of claw island without being invited) not only ruins the mood of the story. but flat out makes me skip dialogue because what he says is so unneeded.

i thought the point of the personal story choices was so it affects the story later. in which case Traeharne should KNOW i know who Gorr is cause he was WITH ME when we tested out Gorr’s rifle against the undead before we retook claw island!

so this is another reason i hate Traeharne.

can anyone else find examples of this idiot doing this kind of thing?

Staff or Rifle?

in Thief

Posted by: arenta.2953

arenta.2953

Hi all,

Rifle ofc.

1) Just think, if thief will get Staff (melee or not) he would be the 7. class (out of 9 including revenant) wielding this weapon.
2) why do we need another melee dps weapon, if we have d/d and s/d for great dps?!
3) Only 2 classes can wield rifle at this time.
4) SB and Pistol are the only range weapons thief have atm. In fact they are more condi specific.
5) Pale Reaver NPC’s are assassins, that are already using a rifle with a special shoting animation in HoT.

greetz

1 class can wield rifle

Might be possible to get staff AND ranged. The staff might have a spell-like use, shooting bolts of shadow, kind of a shadowy spell thief. If that’s the case, then it remains to be seen if the staff elite is power or condi.

how would that fit a theif….

thats more a necromancer…

Windows 10?

Is anyone running on Windows 10, and if so what has been your experience? I’m on the fence about jumping boat so early but it seems there is at least working Nvidia drivers and I’m only playing this game at the moment anyway.

it works quite well for me

my GPU is running cooler than normal (only 70 degrees C compared to 82 before on wndows 8.1)
and FPS is up 15fps (running at 97fps instead of 82). i play on highest settings

so thats a good sign that my GPU can handle more than it could before now.

and windows 10 is to credit for that, being ALOT smaller than windows 8.1 in processor and RAM usage.

there are a few bugs yes, takes some tiem to get used to

but i’m happy with it!

Noticed the same thing on my comp.

…..the only bad news is

i need a new heater T.T
this thing is an icebox now…..i’m getting more heat from my Nintendo DS than i am from the computer

It seems most of the pro-rifle crowd have more or less given up on P/P, and that sucks when a weapon set reaches that point. I hope Anet doesn’t give up on it though. I still use it on my thief main, even though it’s not quite the same.

i tried not to give up on pistol/pistol

but after 2 years of trying to get it to work, and seeing it only get WORSE (it was bad BEFORE it lost the 1050 range and rickrockets)

i’ve given up because its clear anet is not going to fix it. at best it will return to the level it was before it lost its trait for range.

can’t even tell you how many times i get KICKED from fractals or dungeons for using pistol/pistol.

when you get kicked that much, and Anet hasn’t so much as looked in your direction in OVER 2 YEARS (possibly since launch, i wouldnt know there as i was playing ranger, warrior, and engi back then) you begin to resent the weapon and wish it was never put in game to start with

and we still LACK a rifle for medium armor!
engi doesnt count as its a kitten shotgun. your character doesn’t AIM. they just hipfire.

Even though our opinions differ on the melee staff vs rifle debate, I totally feel your pain. Pistols can still get their range boost from Ankle Shots, but that trait is pretty mediocre in itself. This is why I would hope that a rifle spec would do more than just “give thieves a rifle” so to speak. But I dunno, this sucks. I loved my dual pistol Ricochet DPS and sustain build. It wasn’t meta by any stretch of the imagination, but man it was fun in PvE with all the mobs you have to deal with.

Totally off-topic, but your point about engineers using rifles as a shotgun makes me wish there were more shotgun skins for rifles.

Anyways, I still want melee staff first, but I want Anet to finally take a good look at the state of pistols and explore ways to improve them alongside an eventual rifle elite spec release.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Ricochet-gone/page/8#post5337839

^ Also off-topic, but on my first post on this page I explain pretty much what we already know about why P/P is so lackluster, but I’m also looking for ways to improve said weapon set, because I’m not going to give up on dual pistols! Don’t give up either, arenta!

if Anet fixes Pistol Pistol to be useful (i’d say again…but lets face it its never been useful)

then i’d happily accept a staff(mediocre or not)

but considering Anet has never given a rats kitten about pistol/pistol. i’m fighting for rifle until they do one or the other!
(pistol or rifle! give me ONE USABLE)

Ranger or Thief need a rifle to give us a rifle in game for medium armor. but ranger is confirmed in trailer to have staff (and druids dont use rifles. or tech at all. being at one with nature)

so that leaves theif as the last hope.
