i just find it rather insulting when the first line on some items like the halloween mini 3 pack is something like LIMITED EDITION THIS HALLOWEEN ONLY,…..and now OH LOOK they are back again…..
what i would really like is to just choc this up to first year celebrating and hope it never happens again
Or maybe people just need to enjoy the stuff they buy and not worry about the items being rare…this is something that has always bothered me in MMO’s “But it’s not rare, therefore even though I love it, it sucks.”
oh what a great idea “dont worry about it” with thinking like that im suprised you havnt acheived world peace and ended world hunger yet. heres a bit of advice for you, instead of trying to change human nature why dont you come up with some useful things to say
maybe you should take your own advice, useful enough for you?
@TexZero
Anet have said we can trade our magic find gear into another stat set of our choice which is fine in my book. So long as we don’t get a very limited choice. I would be more than happy to turn my magic find gear into one of these new types (dire looks nice) or maybe even sentinels. But Anet have not yet said if those will be available to choose.Another stat that we get no choice in, check their blog post.
A -> B
C-> D
E -> FThere is no oh hey i have set A and i want stat combination F. You have no say, effectively Anet is punishing people for playing the game and investing in those items.
which set? If it is tradeable, it becomes “click and choose a new stat combo,” no matter the source. I’m still not sure about token/karma purchased MF items, but the following statement seems pretty clear:
“Weapons, armor and trinkets with magic find will become account bound, lose their current stats and will gain the ability to be double-clicked to select one of several stat options depending on the item.” That is all inclusive – if it were just crafted, for example, it would say “All crafted…”
anet warned that FOTM and ASCENDED were coming out at launch as there end game wasnt finnished and they were rushed to release
They absolutely did not – when Ascended was announced (Oct/Nov) they said “they had been planning it all along”, it just was not finished at launch.
HUGE difference.
If only the achievements with time limits had timers that told you to the exact second when the window of opportunity closes…
Yep, the exact time remaining, down to the second, is displayed on the in game achievements interface – just for future reference.
i just find it rather insulting when the first line on some items like the halloween mini 3 pack is something like LIMITED EDITION THIS HALLOWEEN ONLY,…..and now OH LOOK they are back again…..
what i would really like is to just choc this up to first year celebrating and hope it never happens again

So that tradeable Ascended components retain their value, making a market for high level crafters (remember that the final product is Account Bound.)
You wouldn’t want the guy with 32 80’s getting 32 CD’s a day – the market would be flooded…or are you that guy? jk :p
and I quote "First off, crafting is not the only way to get Ascended Weapons! Anywhere you can get an Ascended Material drop or an Ascended item drop there is also a rare chance that you will get an Ascended Weapon chest that allows you to choose which weapon type you want from within a stat combo.
NOT just fractals – champs, JP’s, WvW, mini dungeons, fractals, dungeons, etc.
Gold>gems rate is getting quite ridiculous.
poke
I’d bet my life savings that this gem inflation is intentional at Anet. The price inflates, making new users turn to buying gems with money rather then the exchange rate. A player with no money coming into the game is going to think trading gems is insane. They just had their free way, so they are expecting an influx of new players.I don’t see Gems going down ANY time soon.
Gem prices will fall after Sept 1 – high demand from the Anniversary Sale is inflating gem prices. Will they go below 800/40g? Yes. Will they go back down to pre-champ/event patch prices? No.
One interesting thing to note is the crafting patch – how desperate will some players be to get to 500 crafting? Will a non-insignificant portion of the player base decide it is worth $$>gems>gold to level crafting? If the answer is yes, we might see gems drop further in price than anyone might guess.
Ok so I guess rare/greens are going to sky rocket in price.. Because I will be buying up thousands of greens/blues. But anyways still doesn’t make any sense to me that rares wont give any MF buff chance even if its the same as blue/greens chance for it.
Something tells me that will be a fairly wasteful venture – I’m assuming if you need temporary magic find buffs from salvaging that you are already doing an activity that produces plenty of greens and blues to salvage without spending additional gold on the TP…
Guys got a question about salvaging blues/greens for getting mf boost consumables.
I guess using better kit will result in better chance to get these boosts.
Few ppl mentioned that salvage-o-matic will be worth buying now, what do you think?Uh, considering most people already use the basic salvage kit for salvaging, I don’t see why the salvage-o-matic would be worth buying now? It’s not exactly a “better” kit, unless you’ve been using the crude kit this entire time. You’re not going to end up saving money (compared to just using the basic kit) for a VERY long time. If the exchange rate is 100 gems : 4g, you’d need to salvage 615,385 items before you save even one copper. To put that in perspective, you’d need to salvage ~1686 items a day to save money a year later, and I’m sure most people don’t come close to that in a day.
Salvage o Matic is not about the savings, it’s about the convenience of only taking up one bag slot and never having to buy basic salvage kits (oh, and it stays Account Bound even after use.)
How about a more detailed TP search function ?
The game has been out for a year… and we still can’t even do something as simple as search or sort by armor type – really now?
- All existing drops and crafting recipes that have created Magic Find gear will be replaced with new stat combos.
what about CURRENT existing dropped items – If I decided to buy a MF set from dropped gear instead of crafting a set of gear (explorer’s) – do I just have to live with whatever random stat Anet decides to replace MF with instead of being able to choose my stat combo like the crafted MF gear??
(edited by azurrei.5691)
Is it sad that I have more than double that? yes, it probably is a little bit sad.
I can’t see anything that has changed re: Genesis – it just looks different in different lighting.
Well 50 scraps… that will certainly keep the price high… $400 USD for a weapon skin…
Absolutely insane pricing from Anet…
You think 50 is bad (it is)?? Oh are you in for a treat in the next few days…
Everyone’s going to be bummin as Anet brings back weapon skins next week. :\
When you see how much some of these old weapon skins are going to cost in Black Lion tickets, I really don’t think many people will care unless scrap drop rates from chests are drastically increased (as it is insane, very disappointing.)
I walk into a car dealer to buy a new car, fresh year model called the GW2 Normal Edition in August 2012. The dealer is a real sweet talker, so I instead opt for some stereo and GPS system upgrades called the GW2 Digital Deluxe/CE. A YEAR LATER, August 2013, the new year car models are coming out called FF14/TESO/Wildstar Editions so the dealer offers a few more fluff upgrades over the now year old GW2 Deluxe/CE editions and calls it the GW2 Heroic Edition.
Are you going to walk into a car dealer, one year later, and demand the additional free stuff because you feel entitled to it? I really hope not – and if I were the dealer I would just laugh it off.
People forget that this (along with the Dungeon reward changes) are the FIRST set of changes to the ENTIRE rewards system. It only seems imbalanced because nothing else has been changed yet – give it some time!
Change champions, so all of them are either an event itself or only appear as part of an event, so we won’t have champions in the open world that no one wants to kill.
Absolutely…and the side bonus to making every champ an “event?” THEY WOULD ACTUALLY SCALE! You know, so 50 people in FGS don’t kill, say, that poor broodmother drake and her children in 5 seconds flat.
I do not have a fused ticket or weapon skin ( I do have a jade ticket still with no intention to sell,) but personally I think this is complete rubbish. I agree that there is no difference at all between having an unused skin that was previously redeemed and having an unused ticket still to redeem for a weapon skin in order to sell. I’m sorry, but Anet really needs to reconsider this – supply is of no concern – let the market decide. (unless of course Anet is going to reintroduce them into the RNG box of ….)
the new champoin bags drop cores and loadstones tho;)
Exactly. Since the new champ loot bags have gone live, I have gone from having ZERO (yes, zero) cores or lodestones to having AT LEAST 3 of every type of lodestone (up to 15 of some) and a minimum of 60 of every type of core. Now, having said that, I have opened well north of 5k champ loot bags…
Ascended gear won’t “likely” use quartz. Because when it is released, the people don’t prepare for it will be outraged.
So most likely Anet won’t let that happen. It is possible ascended gear will use quartz, but that is most likely when the zepphaline comes back around the second time.
And we don’t even know if we can craft ascended celestial gear. Or at least when ascended armor is released. It’ll probably be added later.
So they went through the trouble of adding a personal node to our home instance just for the heck of it then? No, they added it, at least in part, knowing they needed it to be of not too limited supply when ascended is released.
Anet has taken the WRONG approach to encouraging “group” play. Aggregating damage across the entire group to determine loot eligibility is ridiculous. If someone doesn’t feel like grouping for dynamic events..or wants to only group with a friend or two while not having to put up with idiots/rude comments from grouping with random people, they should not be screwed out of loot eligibility.
If Anet wants to encourage grouping, give people a MF bonus for every participating group member (say 5% for a total of 20%) or a chance for bonus loot, more xp/karma, etc.
Anet should be rewarding people for grouping, not punishing them for not grouping.
That is not a bug. If you want an exotic gilded strongbox every time. Go do lv80 stuff. Doing low level things means you have a chance of getting low level loot.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Troll-Wasp-Boar-Oak/2543844
Champion rewards will be different based on their level. However, like other loot rewards if you’re a high level player in a lower level area there is a chance you’ll receive rewards based on your actual level rather than the area you are in each time they drop.
There are also 7 different exotic item ids that have the name “Gilded Strongbox”. The one dropped from the shaman(also dropped by Aldus Stormbringer) is the only one with the wrong icon.
Fair enough, so what you are saying is at a bare minimum the icon is bugged – I really wish all Gilded Strongbox loot tables (exotic) were equal…perhaps this Gilded Strongbox (exotic) loot table is bugged as well?
I believe that the Champion Svanir Shaman’s loot table at the Frozen Maw event in Wayfarer Foothills may currently be bugged. On my level 80 character’s, it is completely random as to whether I get a white or exotic quality Gilded Strongbox. The white box is what I would expect to receive on a level ~10-15 character that was doing the event (with level appropriate crafting mats,) not a level 80. In addition, the white quality Guilded Strongbox shares the same icon as every other quality Gilded Strongbox, however, the exotic quality Gilded Strongbox dropped by the Shaman shares the same icon as a Fallen Adventurer’s Backpack.
If this is indeed bugged, PLEASE PLEASE fix it. This may partially explain why the supply of Genesis is so low compared to nearly every other new exotic Champion skin. I want a Genesis (and not for 200g…)!
Oh, and feel free to add Genesis to other box types
(edited by azurrei.5691)
I think I’d actually prefer it if every champion would only drop one champion bag per day, it’d make people move onto the next champion into the next area/zone instead of running the same path over and over again. And it would make some of these weapons more rare and more expensive, I mean Entropy is 75g right now, that hammer should be around 200g like Genesis.
No, it’s the other way around – Genesis should be 75g like Entropy! The one skin I want and it is the most rare
Honestly, I think things are fine. People farm Pavillion. People farm Orr. People farm Frostgorge. People farm Queensdale. That is variety.
A few weeks from now, a LOT of people will get tired of farming champs (not everyone, of course.) People are after skins, gold, mats – once they acquire them they will ease up on farming.
The update that introduces 500 crafting is on the horizon – I’m willing to bet it is going to be a HUGE gold+T5/6 mat sink – this is in preparation of the massive demand that will ensue.
This is the most fun, social, rewarding time I’ve spent in GW2 since the first few weeks after launch. Playing the TP is not very fun…farming a dungeon path over and over is not fun (COF p1) either – so I did neither. This is the first time I have felt like I can earn enough gold/materials in a reasonable time frame to start to acquire some cosmetic looks for my characters. Please don’t nerf this unless it is of great concern that it went too far and may have a negative impact on the overall economy.
Only a few.
The human wearing the dragon skull helmet in the trailer has the axe in his hand.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/gallery/image/4742-exclusive-weapon-skin/ – this is the greatsword
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/gallery/image/4732-08-dragon-shield/ – this is the shield (or so I think).
OMG that shield… 1000x better than the Legendary.
Dear patrons,
the wings will be on a .0001% chance on every 11th consecutive successful win. It will be similar to the odds of a precursor with diminishing returns for farming the events, so basically only 3 people per server will win them and they will be farmers that play the BLTP and will try to sell them for 9999 gold after putting up fee for 999 gold.
My point is, dont count on getting these, if you do, good deal, otherwise, better luck next year.
The shattered wings are a reward from the meta achievement…so no RNG for those and I think they look cooler.
I got an abyss during Headstart.
I sold it. It was going for a mere 3g at the time.
I didn’t think that through. I mean, no one had any money, but it would have been far smarter to keep it until folks did have money rather than jump at the money for trait books.
Depends on how you look at it. During headstart (and weeks into launch,) Dusk sold for 30-35g and you could buy a character slot (800 gems) for 2g or less…so it is all relative.
don’t wear MF gear and you will get more UNID’s…why? They are a white quality item…MF increases chances of item drops to be of higher quality. This is my theory ,anyways, after wondering why I got tons of dyes while leveling but very few at 80. For me personally, my theory has proven to be “correct.”
(edited by azurrei.5691)
I think it says a lot that people are already wondering what is on tap for next month…two days into the current one.
I’m more after being able to add visual effects to armor, than more skins themselves.
Something like an Aura, as you mentioned, would be ideal. I’d happily pay £10 to have my Mesmer exude an orange aura.
That a good ideal. It would be nice if they would add in attachments to weapons to give them more effects such as setting them on fire etc.. I want my ice weapon set on fire! It just cant comply kill the class look is all. You do not want a Mesmer becoming blue giving the look of a guardian fooling ppl what class your playing.
I’m sorry but if you can’t tell a class by what skills they are using you don’t deserve to win. Armor should have no bearing on your awareness.
I think the skins are overpriced. 15€ for 2 weapon skins which gets created ones and duplicated as many times as anet wishes… Makes me wish this game would be subscription based instead of this.
Then they would probably cost more.
Just to add, WoW has a sub and you still have to buy a 15 dollar mount, how do u explain that? At least with all these stuff you can buy it with in game gold AND they are fluffy.
Actually the mount is $25..but can be used by all current and future characters on an account indefinitely. Also, Blizzard has released a whopping 3 (or is it 4 now) mounts in the store…compared to the dozens and dozens of awesome in game mounts they continue to add. Most of the cool weapon skins in GW2 (released POST launch,) however, are from the RNG box of hell OR are one time use…
The problem I have with investing items that will always keep going up in price, is that I don’t know when to sell them. Since selling them will always result in you missing out on future profit, it’s most ‘profitable’ to keep them forever. However if you never sell them, you’re not actually gaining any gold. I had this problem in GW1, and to this day I still have a load of limited edition mini pets that I just never wanted to sell.
I stopped playing gw1 long ago, but i never sold my max dmg req 7 weapons (from like 10 years ago), and i have a whole set of exotic candy cane weapons (no lvl req, with inscription slots) that were only released one christmas as a pvp reward, and each person got one. I paid around 30-50k each for them & I put all max inscriptions in the set too, thought it would be cool for ppl making new characters in my guild, I spent about 1m on inscriptions and weps, but never did sell them. I wonder what they would be worth now?
I’d suspect the ghastly comparison won’t hold because the super skins were simply easier to get. I’d suspect the overall volume of tradeable skins created would be similar, but super skins had another (non-exchangeable) method to obtain.
I know this is all speculation, but these super skins may not ever be released again, so 2 years down the road they might be going for 500g. The holloween skins might get released each year, which in the end would make them more common.
True, except inflation is all but inevitable in the game over time, meaning 500g in 2 years might be the equivalent of 50-100g today.
Frys (west coast USA) had gem card for $25 (instead of 30)… There are sales fairly often around, I’ve heard of walmart having sales on cards too, but i refuse to shop there.
I’ve never seen a $30 gem card, only $25 for 2000…odd unless most stores just make you think you are getting a good deal because they are “on sale.”
If someone buys it for 90 G what is it to you. How is it effecting you? You already have it., and it is already soul bound to you. I mean, it is not as if you can turn around and sell it when you don’t want it.
What’s it to me? It makes the bow less of an achievement, and less special if other people can go out and buy it for much, much cheaper than it cost to craft it. That’s what it is to me.
Not sure I’m following…how is ANYTHING that can be purchased an “achievement?” Oh right, it’s not (that would include Legendary weapons.)
If you feel that making a Wintersbite is an achievement, great, no one can take that away from you. But yes, anything that can be bought I don’t view as an achievement – everything being sellable with gold (and technically, $$$) makes it all fairly worthless.
(edited by azurrei.5691)
Since there is already a perfectly viable LFG tool (gw2lfg.com) available, I’d think implementing an in-game LFG tool would be low on their priorities list.
Exactly, instead they spend development time on Superfun Box or whatever the heck it’s called – how exciting. If I wanted to play Super Mario Bros, I would…not an “MMO-RPG.”
Just think, if Anet wasn’t greedy with gem store lotteries, we could buy skins directly for a flat price and the drop rate would be 100% (and everyone would be happy, woah, can’t have that!)
At least I and many others are saving money while the gambling addicts being targeted are paying for our game improvements…
For as long as you incredibly intelligent people fall for their marketing shenanigans, you will continue to lose gold/$ – I have pretty much lost any and all respect for this company. Anet/Ncsoft is making Blizzard look like a darling angel in comparison, which is impressive…
You have this great gem store concept, and you reduce it to a money grubbing, sleezy casino that doesn’t have to post the odds of winning – absolutely disgusting.
Given the direction the game has gone, I’m not surprised that the only worthwhile skins/pets available in the gem store have been a lottery! Ah, how the Mighty has fallen from respectable to despicable…oh well. I’m sure a few more rose-colored glasses will be falling off of the Anet cult followers with this one…sigh.
15% tax has one purpose only. To stop or at least drastically slow down the power traders.
And to take additional money out of the game.
Yep – although I think 5% list and 5% sales tax (instead of 10%) would feel better.
Arguably, how is it a “much needed” gold sink? Don’t we already have plenty?
Repair costs, cost to list on TP, etc?
On the other hand, we have no karma sinks.
Because it is one of the few gold sinks that EVERY player must use (that and repair,)everything else is optional…that is why it is much needed. Well, ok – you could walk I guess…
I think having waypoints cost karma instead of coin would be a much better idea.
First, it’d be a (much needed) karma sink. Everyone has an overabundance of karma with nothing to really expend it with. (Especially since they keep introducing new Ascended gear with new currencies.)
Second, it’d reduce the actual cost of dying back down to a reasonable 1.36 silver (from an absurd 3 silver or more depending on where the nearest open waypoint is.)
The Orrian Jewelry box was introduced as a potential karma sink, but the Minis are more common than Lodestones… And you can’t even sell/trade the minis. So most people aren’t finding it worthwhile.
Finally, it makes sense from a gameplay perspective:
What’s the most common reason to want to waypoint? If you want to quickly get to an event.
So you want to replace a much needed gold sink (that has a DIRECT effect on controlling in game inflation) to a “much needed” karma sink that has no effect on anything? A currency that has limited personal value does not need a sink, except perhaps that it becomes difficult to introduce new karma items for fear players will be able to acquire (those items) instantly. THAT, however, is better solved by just putting in a karma cap and items such as the jewel boxes. Making karma account bound would also be a great idea for more karma uses.
(edited by azurrei.5691)
This situation is very similar to what happened in Rift. Large zone event rewards were terrible, so no one ever did them (except a few, like my GF and I) As soon as Trion upped the rewards, zones were swamped for events, laggy, but at least they were worth it. This is the same thing, except limits on number of people per zone + guesting is screwing over lots and lots of people.
1) Increase the number per zone back up, I don’t care if is laggy or not
2) Disallow the looting of chests while guesting until a better solution can be found
All I know is it is a kitten good thing I’m not paying a subscription because it would of been cancelled. Not being able to do events on MY HOME WORLD is absolutely ridiculous.
I did the destroyer event chest run yesterday. There were like a hundred players involved. I got greens and blues at the end. I asked around if anyone got anything good. Only two replied that they got crap drops. If someone got all rares I expect them to yell in chat but no one did. Did rare drop rate really increase?
The megadestroyer and Arah chests did not get buffed for some reason. They still only drop blues.
Here is a list of chests that have a >90% chance of dropping a rare:
1. Jormag
2. Shatterer
3. Sunless
4. Jungle Wurm
5. Hydra Queen
6. Shadow Bohemoth
7. Maw
8. Fire Elemental
9. Grenth
10. Lyssa
11. Melendru
12. Dwayna
13. BalthSo each character can get at least 13 additional rares a day over what they could before the patch. I usually get closer to 20 a day now. I’ve gotten 100 ectos since the patch playing only casually.
But all those things take time. The Jormag event takes an eternity. Even with dragon timers, there are still hordes of players waiting around for Teq and Shatt to start for 10+ minutes. All this reduces your rares-per-hour, and totally tanks your gold farm in general.
Cursed Shore (on my server at least) has been basically abandoned due to more Champ and Vet spawns since the patch. I used to be able to make quite a few rares per hour just hanging around Penitent / Shelter / Jofast. It’s much more difficult to do that now.
I’m starting to think that this patch didn’t increase the number of rares being farmed as much as it seemed initially.
exactly…it all takes time – if you are farming big events you are not farming Orr…
I didn’t realize this was a discussion.
It doesn’t belong in a game that is not about gear.
/end discussion
(edited by azurrei.5691)
Wait for the newness to wear off…also, guesting is not an exploit – you can’t get multiple chests a day from the same event on the same character.
I find it amusing that some people were farming dragons all last month by guesting, yet only now the people who didn’t touch events complain because the loot is actually worth the time and “guests are screwing up their server.”
Every skin in the game obtainable through gold (that is a LOT of skins,) even legendary weapon skins, are available through the store – it’s the lazy (but lucrative) way to make money. Artists cost money, unfortunately its more important to milk the suckers who have lives and don’t have the time to farm gold than it is to pay artists to make cool, unique skins everyone might want to buy from the store. Once the games newness wears off (soon…) maybe they will start doing some cool stuff.
