Scholar: 1 Low; 1 Medium, 1 High
Adventurer: 2 Medium, 1 Low
Soldier: 1 High, 1 LowBased on patterns, it would either be Medium (because Soldiers have High and Low now) or High (because 3 Medium, 3 Low, 2 High now). If the Adventurer Professions had 1 of each, I’d say Medium was a slam dunk. Kitten outliers.
Well warriors are more in your face melee (so high,) guardians are support (so low) – and Revenants are already being portrayed as “tanky” so that would mean high or med…and since they seem to be at least in part “caster-ranged” I would say that knocks them down to medium. We should find out in less than two weeks…hopefully.
It is just horrible, so many armor sets junk just because of all the crappy looking pants, especially for charr where apparently the skirts get even shorter.
Please just stop with the skirts and dresses on plate armor, sure sure make a few, but at current there are far more plate dresses than plate legs… is there a reason why?
Reason? Probably because many plate wearers are female characters? (Please note my main is a male human warrior…but I have 2 female guardians and a 2 female warriors as well.) I wouldn’t mind more plate legs as long as we can get some more interesting, slightly revealing medium armor tops.

Ty so much for posting this data! Disappointing as expected -1 ascended in almost 12k bags – fun times, ouch.
All the non-special/T6 nodes (so not candy corn, crystal or ancient wood for example) should be once per character per day – it would actually make them worth buying lol.
Scaling and map caps has nothing to do with it – it is the design of the encounters. For example, capping Wayfarer Foothills at 12-15 players is going to do nothing but frustrate people…it would just make The Frozen Maw (a simple fight, rightfully so as it is in a starting zone) take 5x longer than it needs to take…
Of course it does.
And I mentioned nothing of capping maps so low.
There is well too many people on these maps, therefore having less people on the map (because of a lower cap) would spread the playerbase, meaning there wouldn’t be as many people at each event.
Scaling the enemies better would mean they had a lot more health, they wouldn’t die before they had even loaded on screen, therefore more people would actually get to hit it, and so more people would get credit for the event.
How do you not understand this?
Oh I understand – you are saying that you want an event to take significantly longer for a group (of the level) toons in the normal course of playing on any given day so that when it happens to be the daily once or twice a month, more powerful level 80’s don’t make it impossible to get to an event in time to get credit. I feel that a better solution than scaling would be to make the “complete events” daily to be regional like the gathering dailies as has been mentioned several times in this thread.
I’m sure they will re-release them around Easter because of the ridiculous demand for them – everyone needs to calm down and be patient.
Which has nothing to do with dailies or dynamic events in other zones. The reason the Zone Events daily is such a kitten bother is because of poor scaling for events that were never intended to handle 50 people in one spot.
Not to malign Dry Top or Silverwastes for event schema. I actually kind of like Silverwastes because there’s always something to do. …unlike most of the other launch zones. Wandering and waiting 15 minutes in a zone I didn’t want to be in, praying for an event thread, and then still having to mob-camp so the zerg wouldn’t kill all my things is not a fun experience.
Oh I see, you mean just the small events (my point still stands for large events!) I only do those if it is Metrica (FE chain,) Wayfarer (Maw Chain,) Sparkfly (TEQ) – although if you are not in a rush find an escort chain in the daily zone and just do it 4 times (did this in Brisbane worked out fine – took maybe 20-25 min? idk I talked to friends and gathered while waiting) Or do what I normally do and do a fast WvW quest (or 2) in lieu of the 4 events – land claimer, guard killer, big spender, and even tower capture are all < 10 min max in EoTM at the start time.
On scaling – the issue is how to scale – an event scaling to 20 level 80 characters fully geared out downscaled to the zone level is worlds different than 20 of the zone level characters with greens and blues (and empty slots even.) An event HAS to be balanced for the latter, so there is nothing that could be done for the former to not be considered “a zerg” unless they get some super fancy dynamic scaling tech rolling.
…(a side note, done snowdrift events daily today. Took me an hour to tag 4 events. Most events melted before i could even get close to them, or had so few mobs that tagging was a lottery. This overzerging of everything, when you add broken events on top of that, makes the whole experience truly sickening.)
I honestly think Anet Devs etc only play WvW. If they had played PvE they would realise how bad this zerg problem is, that has gotten a lot worse since megaservers were brought in.
They don’t seem to want to lower the soft cap on maps, (or it seems, scale the mobs) and then they introduce this, which shows off how bad this problem is to its worse degree.
As I’ve mentioned before. this zerg, this ‘too many people at each event’ (whether it be on a daily map or anywhere else in the PvE game) changes the game, it takes all skill out of the game, because there’s no reason or need to do anything other than ‘press 1’. No need to heal, buff or dodge.
Maybe that’s what Anet wants, maybe it’s part of NPE to simplify the game.
Scaling and map caps has nothing to do with it – it is the design of the encounters. For example, capping Wayfarer Foothills at 12-15 players is going to do nothing but frustrate people…it would just make The Frozen Maw (a simple fight, rightfully so as it is in a starting zone) take 5x longer than it needs to take.
While triple worm doesn’t work well imo, (the revamped) Tequatl Event and Vinewrath (or even Breach) exemplify good encounter design within the GW2 framework. They require all participants to work together towards common goals (often times in smaller groups in whole or in part) and can NOT be zerged. Maps can and will fail if there is zero organization or too many afk players (or even too many players who do not understand the mechanics.) I really hope Anet uses these encounters (and the whole of Silverwastes in particular…didn’t care for the Dry Top design) as a base framework for map design in the upcoming expansion and beyond.
Well I bought my Storm about 3-4 months into the game and I payed *35 GOLD!
It will take a while before it is back to the original price again…. <grin>
Gems are ~ 30x more expensive to buy with gold then they were back then. For 35g, you could of purchased 7000 gems (ignoring the fact you could of bought more than that had you been spending gold to buy gems as you went along and not in one clump 3-4 months in.) At the current sell price, that is worth ~ 675 gold. Storm is currently 600g…so it is actually cheaper in relative price to ~ Nov 2012 using gems as a benchmark :p

For those complaining about double fractal dailies today (yeah, I agree it stinks) – just queue up EOTM @ start time (starts every 4 hours, 2 or 3 minutes past the hour – example 10:03 am) and all you have to do for land claimer is, well, take a piece of land. Bridges, land in between bridges, control points, etc. If red, quickly move to the first control point with the masses (in between the first two bridges) – that counts. If green, ignore all the people climbing the tower and head to the right of the tower to the bridge (wait for the masses to arrive to be nice) – that counts. If blue… I forget what the first land claimer is – might take a bit longer than red or green maybe someone can help out and post what that is
Yeah, it would be nice if it lasted a little longer (especially for those who are just buying the game this weekend and had issues getting their account set up!) Maybe Anet will be nice and do this again sometime soon
Dry Top was fine – not awesome (FGS,) not horrible (Orr,SS.) Of the 3 maps added in the last 2.5 years, Silverwastes is definitely the best in terms of fun factor.
It’s worth making but I’m still waiting for an alternative to obtaining pristine fractal relics…like selling the item you buy them with for laurels+gold – come on Anet Fractals has nothing to do with this part of the living story.
Pristine Fractal Relics are only required for the last stage of upgrading Mawdrey. That makes Mawdrey into an Ascended tier item. Ascended tier equipment exists in the game because of fractals, fractals are the only place where it’s necessary. As such, being expected to do some fractals in order to obtain an Ascended item is not a really far-fetched concept.
If anything, you’re being spoiled by being able to get Ascended trinkets so easily outside of fractals.
Spoiled? Really? Since when does Ascended = Fractals only? oh right, it doesn’t. Infusions, since those are mostly worthless outside the gimmick called agony resist? Sure. But Ascended in general? Nope. Just because Ascended items were introduced with Fractals doesn’t mean that is where they belong.
Yeah, it is rather curious people spamming map chat with loads of coat boxes “wishing” they could give them away and the same poor souls (me included) still have yet to receive a single one from the vinewrath chest. I think I need to try it on another character because clearly my warrior has bad luck (lord knows how many TEQ I did…on 2 account actually… 0 hoards.)
See all you have to do is complain and you get what you want, right? an hour later – coat chest! Maybe it’s time to go to TEQ again…

The new dailies, overall, are great! Only two things need to be done:
A) dailies should scale to account level – so an account with a max level character of 20 should only get dailies that are possible to complete at that level.
B) There NEEDS to be a 4th category “Dungeons.” All fractal dailies should go in this category and new dailies that involve doing other dungeons, such as “complete a path in the Twilight Arbor” should be added to this category. Or you can finally make dungeons scale so we can solo or duo or trio or whatever them all – that I would actually prefer

I would guess Friday at reset…technically that is the start of the next day in terms of game time!
What will the community do? Idk but there will be a new option for the disappointed come March now that TESO is going B2P… different game but, yeah.
Its a good indication.
No its not. And yes, it has been proven many times over the past two decades that only a small majority of players actually read and/or participate on official or fansite forums.
I think somebody needs to spend more time on unbiased sites such as Massively, IGN, Zam or MMORPG.com. A little smack of reality might do ya good.
Unbiased? Yeah, those sites are no more unbiased than these forums…
Each key of nightmare gives 3 champ bags and one rare with a possibility of 3 as it gives three pieces of gear. Breach + Vinewrath gives ~15 champ bags and the fort defenses give upwards of 30 bags of gear with 3 pieces of gear each. If a player does the whole hour for the entire thing, that’s quite a bit of chances for rares to salvage.
It is definitely the renewed interest in Silverwastes + Vinewrath – definitely a buying opportunity but I have so many ecto it seems pointless…I don’t play the game to speculate.
If we see an expansion announcement on Saturday – expect a potential speculative meteoric rise…and not just in Ecto.
Kudzu is beautiful, however…
A) the “flower trail” left by footprints really need to be more flower-y and less (gross) green color
B) for ALL legendary weapons, there should be a way to turn OFF footprints if desired
So we can customize a mail carrier but we still can’t send mail to our alts…guess there is no way to monetize that feature so mail carrier wins in development time.
You have a bank for doing that.
Yes, I know, I know. Other games you can send mail to your alts. However, you don’t have shared bank space in those games either. It’s a trade off.
plenty of games have both…we all know the (poor) reason it doesn’t exist $$$

I was really excited for gw2 black friday, but why aren’t any of the armor skins on sale?
let’s hope we see some soon…and not the “blue man group” armors again :/
I’ll be logging in every day to check when the armor sets I want are on sale…in the meantime, I’m too busy with other matters. I have gems ready to burn… please have a big armor set (not outfit!) sale!!!
Now, this has gone on for a long time but just wanted to bring this to peoples attention because it seems to have become more and more prevalent. When you are going to sell an item please, carefully look at the buy and sell prices – mass buyers like to manipulate the market by (depending on the value of the item) posting 1 to a few hundred of an item 1 copper above what they are willing to pay in order to trick lazy buyers into using the “sell instantly.” Please, sellers, look to see what the current sell offers are before using the easy way out.
As an example, ToT bags this am – top buy offer was 1000 ToT bags at 4s34c. Best sell offer was 4s35c. Ok, except there were ~ 40 bags…the NEXT sell offer was 5s19c and went up from there. I’ve seen this MANY times on the Glob of Ecto market but that one is a bit harder to control – usually the buyer just posts 1 at 1 copper above what they have a buy order in for 100’s or 1000’s of them – usually well below the market.
Sure, sometimes this is not a buyer trying to manipulate the market and it happens to be someone who feels better posting for 1c above the buy offer instead of feeling like they are getting less…but yeah, smart buyers do try to maniuplate so people need to be smart sellers.
It’s been datamined by that_shaman. People on reddit are speculating that it will be a PvP track reward.
That would be awesome. More PvP tracks and eventually, I hope, WvW tracks.
Are you kidding me? Turning the only skill based rewards in the game into a mindless grind (= pvp tracks) is not awesome.
Cause mashing buttons is skill.
[Here is where you can attach that gif of any monkey mashing buttons]
Lets clarify : PvP tracks = PvE rewards.
Come back later once that sinks in, then try a new rebuttal.
Where are my PvE Tracks = PvE rewards? What if I hate dungeons? Tracks would be 10000x better than the junk we get from world events now.
It would be nice if the upgrade was 50% off for existing players…I’d upgrade my account for 1000 gems.
Now that the vendor is gone, the only thing players will be buying nougat/fangs/skulls for is for crafting the 3 craftable Halloween weapons, and there’s more than enough supply on the TP to craft plenty of those for a long time to come.
Candy Corn is a different matter, since it’s used in a lot more recipes. However, now that people can make Maize Balm, supply for Candy Corn is likely to never dry up to a point where you can really make bank off of it.
All in all, I think the Halloween stuff will go up slightly in price, but not really enough to make them worthwhile investments.
No one cares about the nougat/skulls/etc. as that stuff will get vendored. CC will buy 20 slot bags, food recipes, and used in the gobbler for buffs. Most importantly, bags will go up in price as supply dwindles and people STILL don’t have the ultra rare mini… maize balm will keep a small supply of bags trickling into the market but will die off when the “cheap” maize supply starts to dry up. It’s hard to predict when bags will rise and by how much, but you can be sure they will. Hold onto bags until you need the gold…
The better question to ask is…are the extra 2 slots worth 2 gold each? Nope… 18 slots + many guild banks is still a better option in my eyes.
My Guess: Ultra rare drop off the final boss encounter at the conclusion of LS S2… and then everyone cries regarding its rarity.
My Hope: The new reward for the second half of LS S2 to work towards just like Maudrey.
Well, imo this game needs a lot more of simple, realistic weapons. Right now we are an 80’s disco on some bad drugs.
Yeah, I mean where are the garden hoes, butcher knives, etc? Who wants cool looking, unrealistic weapons in a fantasy game? I want to spend lots of my fun time acquiring fake, everyday items! Give me realism in my fantasy world!
…
Actually only something like 1/10th or less of the skins are in the gemstore…I’ve read the exact number somewhere…but i can’t find it right now.
Yeah, and as far as medium armor goes 90% of the desirable skins for females are from the gem store… unless you love trench coats.
This limits players freedom – this was an unnecessary change that could only possibly benefit Anet.
Look, I get that hotdogs come in packages of X and hotdog buns come in packages of Y – but COME ON!
PLEASE REVERT
I like option #2 and #2.5. #2 would provide players with less than average luck something but most likely not what they are after 99.9% of the time. Going, say, 500 mob kills with no rare or exotic and then getting a random rare or exotic worth 40s to 10’s of gold (with a good rune or unique model) because you “earned” it through bad luck is fine, but is that really more rewarding than now? Net result is a little more gold/globs but not much more satisfaction in getting something you really want… Maybe for those with extremely bad luck…but certainly not those who have average luck (majority.)
#2.5, on the other hand, would allow players to target specific drops over a period of time and would most likely yield more positive (and noticeable) results to the player base at large. Don’t get me wrong, RNG is fun, but if a casual gambler never won anything on a slot machine would they really keep playing for significant amounts of time (and money)? No, they wouldn’t. That is why the slots are made to average out to be profitable to the casino but pay out enough to make it seem “worth it” and “fun” to the gambler. MMO players like RNG for the thrill, but most are not playing to gamble (and lose) with their time.
I really like the idea of PvE reward tracks!
Are there other proposals of how those PvE tracks would work?
Are there other threads discussing this idea? The way I would envision it, PvE reward tracks would be fed by level-80 level ups. Each time you got a level up with a level 80, it would feed the track.
How awesome would it be to have the sPvP reward tracks earn-able (and repeatable!) in PvE? (after all, they contain ALL PvE stuff) I like open world stuff…I don’t really care for dungeons unless they are solo/duoable – reward tracks for doing open world PvE/WvW stuff would be awesome as the current “rewards” are… garbage (sorry, I must be blunt – 99.9% of the time I spend in open world stuff it is not really rewarding due to the extreme RNG of anything remotely exciting- over 3k hours on 2 accounts and 0 precursors, 0 ascended boxes) Also, allow MF to work with chests/champ boxes already – what is the reasoning behind not allowing it?
I could see something like this added to the Black Lion Chest Loot table, but never sold outright, unfortunately. They really did do a disservice to the player base by removing the “cheap and easy” 1-79 transmute charges – but I suppose most people who care will just wear an outfit leveling up.
They are not new – all of them were reintroduced for the holiday (this is, however, the first time they are being sold as “outfits” – they were all previously “town clothes.”) Just wait another week or so – you will see why they added this in quietly before the big Halloween patch…
It’s cool that Arena Net is finally considering some larger group instance content, which is sorely lacking. However, it would also be nice to get some scaled versions of current dungeons meant for 1-3 people – some of us like the idea of dungeons, but prefer to do them solo or with a friend or two (or at the very least, add the reward tracks to open world content in addition to sPvP.) If a game that I’ve never heard of before named Archlord 2 can do it, so can Arena Net Oh, and in regards to “raids,” flexible group size should be a feature from day 1.
So for the umpteenth time, this evening I DC during TEQ. Your megaserver technology is great – clearly you have good engineers. Please explain to me why the server can’t remember what instanced map I was on for all of 10 seconds so that if the server kicks me to the character select screen I don’t get thrown into another map when I log back in. Seriously, give people 30 seconds to log back in before filling the spot or whatever – it is freaking ridiculous we still have to put up with this after 2 years. Yes, I know I could group with people and (maybe) join back if the map isn’t full – but I should not have to.
(edited by azurrei.5691)
You do know that it being a “rare” skin does not really make it at all “prestigious”, right? .
lol, exactly. “I got lucky therefore people should look up to me!” I’m not sure whether to laugh or feel sorry for the person that actually thinks that…probably a little of both
They appear to take up a loot spot – please make them unique I want a weapon box not 10s every day.
It makes me glad I have a bunch of 80’s that were leveled a year ago purely on scarlet invasions+crafting that have never touched the personal story – definitely something to start working on
You forgot about birthday scroll 1-20 lvl.
lol – yep, what a waste of tomes.
To echo what Gaile said in the aforementioned thread brought up by Healix, key farming is not considered an exploit.
You say its not an exploit, but you sure made it a much more time consuming process. I almost feel like this is the only reason you changed the story content, as there is no positives from limiting players from accessing content immediately upon starting the game… Its a real shame your going that route to trying to push people to pay for keys who were never going to buy them to begin with.
I firmly believe the story changes had absolutely NOTHING to do with key farming. I have been and I’m sure will be in the future, critical of some of the design decisions that Arena Net makes with GW2 – but in this instance nothing was done that deserves to be criticized. The personal story closely reflects the changes that they made for the China GW2 release…with at least one large related exception – keys are not rewarded until the level 20 story in China. Assuming this is true (I have never personally played on the China client,) if Arena Net wanted to practically kill key farming, they would of changed the key reward to the level 20 story instead of keeping it the level 10 story in NA/EU.
i hope it gets nerf because ppl got time to farm can get easy gold by doing it because those champs are so squishy and yet they drop champ bags, unfair for me buying gems just to buy items and playing casually.
So you don’t like farming champs or don’t have time and want something nerfed because of it? Ok…selfish much?
I would never pay for VIP status. As long as everything stays exactly the same as it is now…and VIP is merely gem store items rolled up into a monthly package with maybe some kind of special character visual, that would be fine. The moment gem store items rise in price because VIP’s get a discount… the moment the base game is neutered and “full access” gets hidden behind a VIP paywall… the moment VIP’s have access to exclusive skins… the moment VIP’s have some sort of economic in game advantage (beyond gem store discounts)… is when Anet loses at least half of their playerbase for GW2 and any future Arena Net game.
Too bad these don’t go up to Ascended quality. Still, they have the infusion, so it’s not that bad.
Actually the backpacks are pretty good… the top level exotics are weird. They are level 78, but are more powerful than level 80 exotic backpacks. In fact, they are very close to ascended.
Edit numbers were wrong – can’t use exquisite jewels as the item is level 78…. For as easy and cheap as they are to craft, they are great for alts.
