I am currently level 12,518 and still rising.
Progression is a very transparent thing coming in forms you might not expect
I think you mean UNCONFIRMED
It’s an investment report for stock holders to gamble on.. If it was FACT, then there would be no losses in stocks, ever.

Maybe it includes the first 5 minutes of invulnerability too? :-)
Wouldn’t be the first time we have to kill something while it’s invulnerable! coughwurmheadcough
This LS Event needs to be longer than 2 weeks

Living story content is available for 4 weeks from its release. It’s just that new ‘stuff’ comes out every 2 weeks causing overlaps, leaving people thinking that they have to rush everything.
Turns out though, rushing everything as soon as it comes out has a lot of benefits. Might be unplanned benefits, but benefits they are

If you are player #51, then there is a knight somewhere with 49 or less players.. go find it
I’m starting to think people just want to hit a dragon totem for half an hour! You don’t have to DPS massively, you just have to stay alive which seems to be poorly explained given the number of dead people I see
Reminds me of this though, hehehe

I like the Festival Hat Maker idea from GW1, but there are a lot more skins than there were festive hats.. Could add a few game-play elements to it though!
Call it a Stylish Crafter, where any skin you get you can -> Right Click -> Learn to add the skin recipe to the Stylish Crafter. Make recipes a mix of any and all things that are obtainable and related to that skin (ie: like gift of blades being made from items that are permanently available).
That way, swapping back items all the time isn’t something you want to do, but if you really want to get a particular skin back, you always can!
also, capes
My character still runs through Lions Arch with the “Avenger of the Dispossessed” title.. It’s quite apt I think
We are fine underwater. Here’s a tip:
If you are underneath or above whatever you are fighting, lightning auto-1 will almost always have all three bolts hit, and does considerable damage with high crit rates.
This is even enhanced with Air Bubble, to interrupt your foe and make them float up, so all you have to do is slide underneath and continue to auto-1 them.
Found Heirlooms - Is there enough time?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Yeah really.. I run through the map on a zerker ele, and still get all 40 in 30 minutes. That’s the lowest HP, lowest defence character possible, and it is still very easy to complete in that time.
You don’t have to kill everything (or in fact, anything) since that will also just slow you down. Get it done, out the way, then enjoy the events from there on out.
I think I’d be somewhere around 50 opened, and believe you have had better luck than I. I have had 3-4 exotics with each ranging in the 1-2 gold area, and no minis or anything ascended.
It’s just how the ball rolls. I am running with 165% base magic find, and just do not feel all that lucky. Everything ‘good’ I received just buying it off the Trading Post, because I am at least guaranteed success with gold.
Not sure if others do the same, but every unique exotic I get is stored in my personal guild “Treasure Trove”. It has about 80 slots used out (plus about 10 duplicates sold) of the 100 in around 2100 hours, so that puts it close to 23 hours play per exotic dropped. An interesting way of measuring luck perhaps.
Zodiac Armor -- Can the effect be changed?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: biofrog.1568
I HATE this armour.. I hate everything about it. I hate that it exists, and I hate everyone I see in it.
But most of all, I HATE that I spent the last month trying to earn enough gold to buy a Zodiac weapon from the trading post, only to have them ALL BOUGHT OUT because people want “matching sets” for their god ulgy freaking kitten armour.
Usual patch time for me comes in at 2 AM. Usually means I am asleep, instead of trying to work with a couple hours nap..
This is followed by getting up, going to work, coming home, eating dinner, and finally jumping into GW2 where hundreds of people have already completed the new content complete with guides on dulfy and what-not :-\
No surprises for me in the GW2 world! Oh well…
Actually that would be an interesting change to the trait.. If it were to give you three endurance bars instead of two, but keep regen at the same.
You could use your third dodge roll in an emergency, then between fights it would recharge back up to three.
Well, I was thinking about the “Weapon Test”, and the specific encounters with each Marionette champ.
Then figured.. if it’s testing, and we all know where it is going to be used, there’s no real reason for it to ‘stop’ being used once it completes its destruction!
Just have it stomp around the entire L.A. map, dangling from its tethers in the floating platform above! Fighting a mob in L.A.? ORANGE CIRCLE, you better dodge that Marionette sword mighty quickly :-)
The irony is most servers are empty because in PvE players have the option to guest to other servers to complete events, which in turn is the same reason their servers are empty.
I’ve been in overflows for Marionette on a non-home server that looked to contain more people from my home server than the one I was guesting too. However, since everyone else was guesting as well, it still had the better odds of high population success. The problem then is the random people who aren’t in big guilds or have access to knowledge where to guest to, will generally see the event as ‘empty’.
I honestly think it would make more sense to split Dynamic Events (or perhaps each mappable zone) into each specific server and relax the guesting constraints, than the current “If you don’t know, you lose” results.
You still need access to the 3 jumping puzzles I imagine too. But that is easily done.
I see it like this:
- Draw a line from each jumping point chest.
- Insert giant impact crater in center of 3 points.
- Build new JP up the crater edge to chest.
- ???
- Profit in the destruction of L.A.
:D
We all want one
I posted this some time ago now:

Just don’t be rude to someone who is downed/dead, particularly if they have actually countered the champs mechanics.
In my experience, 9 times out of 10 the champ will target one player until they are either downed or dead. 10 times out of 10 it seems he targets my Ptv warrior.. I don’t know why, he just does. My zerk ele can kite around for ages and barely ever has to avoid the champ in some way.
It’s a lot of heat to take for one person with some of the Wardens mechanics. It doesn’t cause a fail usually, but as above, you don’t have to abuse them either.
I noticed you can vendor them, hehe. These are the new Watchwork Sprockets?
Well if you’re doing wurms, your reward is 7,100 exp and 72 copper.
If you’re doing Marionette, you will get 90% of your key pieces before the disconnection, before getting 7,100 exp and 72 copper, which you lose when you have to repair following certain death anyway.
You should think yourself lucky
Hahah actually that’s a brilliant idea for a dynamic event..
“Darkness comes to Tyria!”
Get rid of the global illumination light sources and make the entire world (or at least one map) only lit from dynamic light sources, like our torches, skills and Mad King books or like.
It would be reminiscent of Diablo 2 Act III, once the eclipse sets in.. That was so annoying, but cool story-wise, for a brief time!
Instead of an eclipse, make it a pitch-black cloud, with a jumping puzzle you have to hop up until you are above the clouds, and can fight the source of the evil black cloud… I guess I’m kind of evil for thinking like this, heheh
Maybe not THE Fifth Element, although perhaps “Divine Light” could be a decent synonym, with free multi-pass.
The introduction of an extra element could open up some exciting possibilities for improving Elementalists, adding some much needed power to a class that many consider below average.
Firstly, this would introduce 20 new skills for each of the existing weapons, and might alleviate the call for extra weapons to be introduced. These could open up new combination fields or even focus on alternate conditions such as torment/confusion builds, adding variety.
Along with a fifth element, you also gain the ability to switch attunements more often, lowering the impact Arcane has in each build via having more options to attune to. Runes that proc on weapon swap can happen more often. Extra crowd-support can be introduced with area effect on-attune bonuses also.
It doesn’t simplify the class, but as a class mechanic I feel there should be some high level of complexity anyway. It adds to PvP through the inability for other classes to pre-determine what kind of build an elementalist foe might be using, whether they focus on two primary attunements, or if they play across the whole field of five. The build-diversity expands exponentially with these extra skills, as does the counters to other player builds.
Personally I see it as a way to revamp a class, making it something more than it currently is, without changing the current core class mechanics. It’s not for us to come up with the skill-set either, but something that lies purely in the developers choice for encouraging us to play.
The drawback is the amount of development and balancing required for a pretty major modification however..
My sole problem is with the wind. There doesn’t seem to be any way to anticipate or avoid it so it is all luck on whether you make it. Does anyone have any solution for the wind or is it just RNG instant fail?
Dodge roll it. It only pops up in a few spots anyways.
how can you dodge roll it when you are on a tiny snowflake? and only a few spots? i get randomly blown off from any snowflake. maybe 1/20 times i can make it to the midway safe point without being randomly blown off a snowflake
edit: finally made it to safe platform, wind blew me off there while i was talking to the npc…
Erm.. there’s only a couple places where the wind even exists. Both are after the mid-way safe point… sooo not sure what you are looking at then.
Got dodge-roll bound to the wrong key, or double-tap to roll enabled?
I find it easy, collecting dozens of gifts last night already. I also find the changes are improvements from the first iteration.
Maybe those who keep failing are used to mesmer portals? I don’t know.
One thing that I would dislike is changes to make it easier. It’s a skill based game and like it or not, Jumping requires some skill.
And yet, it’s OK to be bad at parts of the game. I suck at sPvP, but I don’t go around asking to be buffed because I suck. I say try it, and if it doesn’t appeal to your sense of self-satisfaction, then move on.
earth attune + trait + arcane wave gives a glorious area effect immobilise now
Also, I noticed fire ring + arcane brilliance + arcane wave gives a looot of stack mights.. neat having two instant blast finishers on hand.
As per topic, patch size is 231.8 MB!
Enjoy
Hi All,
Just a reminder, with all the skill changes happening with todays patch and in particular with the skills changing adept/master/grand-master tiers, there is a very good chance that your traits will be reset!
If you’re like me and have a comfort build you have been using for quite some time or many alt characters, you might have forgotten a trait here or there. So before the patch, I like to take a screenshot with each characters trait screen and utility skill slots.
This keeps a good record of what each build actually was before the patch, and how I could make something similar with the new patched skills. Of course, playing around with the original build strategy and new traits/skills is also part of the learning curve, but that’s part of the fun.
Enjoy
Not having actually bothered with acquiring anything ascended via crafting, I was not expecting the convoluted MESS I was greeted with. Even crafting my legendary was less confusing!
The legendary required stacks of T6 mats, which was a pain sure, but still just 250 of a single material. PLEASE don’t let armor be as absurd as this list
(yes it probably will be now, sigh..)
I find staff really difficult to play when compared to my S/D build.
It seems difficult to ‘control’ a situation with staff, and as such it seems to always be extremely defensive when not trying to pour out damage. For instance, you can be in fire, using lava font/meteor, but if someone comes your way you only have the option of rolling back away from them. Or you can attune to air and go for a stun (which can usually be broken), only then you are stuck in air with a knockback and little damage.. or swap to earth and go for immobilise, and a defensive wall, but you still need to get away before finally attuning back to fire for damage.
On the flip side, with S/D I can use RTL/updraft to down a play coming at me, then wail on them with fire skills, swap to earth for a stomp then back to water/air for mitigation/damage.. It’s much more in control of the situation.
I guess this is why I only see staff as a supportive role in a coordinated group.
I for one welcome a new arcane skill, which will tie extremely nicely into my current arcane repertoire. Only concern is I lose the super-wonderful condition cleansing of ether renewal.
Oh god, just had an awesome impression of an Elite Arcane skill, like an ARCANE BEAM LASER from above, heh.
Would have loved a way to quest current exotic gear into ascended variety, much like the Mursaat Infusions from GW1.
Crafting was perhaps the second-last alternative I would have preferred. Expensive Crafting being the last…
Happens to me all the time. Along with RTL frequently going “through” the enemy.
From what I can tell it’s directly lag related, which unfortunately means there is no fix and those of us unfortunate enough to be located further from servers (including the whole of Australia) will have to suffer it.
Make an entire Underworld beneath every map of Orr, with caves and traps above that drop you down into the Underworld..
Come onnn.. it’s only 5-6 new maps, right? :-P
Oh and make it Mines of Moria style with ridiculous stairwell and cavernous architecture everywhere. Not asking much, really
- SSD improves time to read data from the hard drive.
- Reducing graphics quality means less texture data needs to be read from the hard drive, thus improving load times.
- Reducing character quality further reduces the amount of texture and animation data that needs to be loaded.
- Reducing number of characters displayed reduces both data loaded, and reduces network load as it doesn’t need to transmit character location and model data
- Network latency to the servers will severely impact load times.. don’t download in the background?
Play with those settings to see improvements.
While responding to another thread, I was reminded of a long-term issue that ascended gear may create within GW2. This response is a bit long-winded and off-topic for that thread, but merits discussion from the player base. Please try to keep this thread about the long-term future state of ascended gear (instead of the short-term discussion about the Dec. 10th patch):
One interesting thought on ascended gear. Anet has stated that they have no plans for a tier beyond ascended gear. This means that eventually, GW2 will reach a state where a large percentage of the current player base has full ascended gear.
Erm, I think you’ve created a new problem where one doesn’t exist, and answered it all in one go.
If your concern is new players, well they will be playing from 1-80 and reach exotic armor just like the rest of us did. Then just as you stated above, the current player base will have full ascended gear and given the nature of supply and demand, all costs to buy materials to make ascended gear will be exponentially cheaper than they are today.
If the content becomes harder now to match ascended gear requirements, it will still be the same content that a new player will need to reach first, with the same ascended equipment. I don’t see this as a problem?
It’s a new bargaining technique.. Buy 1 for the price of 4!

Armor classes in GW2 seem like an awkward match to me. I mean, what is Light Armor really? Cloth? Not very protective. Guild Wars 2 seems to have placed itself in an awkward niche.
I can understand them wanting a natural leather-look for medium armor, but realistically it isn’t very protective still. Of course, it’s a game, so it doesn’t need to be realistic, only the side effect is it’s trapped in what can be classified each armor class
To me:
- “light armor” would put it in the leather class (or bone, animal skins or scales etc).
- “medium armor” is scale plating, light steel or some actual protective but restrictive sets
- “heavy armor” is just that. Big heavy plated chunks of steel that might allow you to take a beating, but just as equally make it insanely hard to swing a sword around.
Whereas GW2 seems to have the light as medium, medium as heavy, and yet more heavy. No light style to separate the look while still indicating it is ARMOR. (my town clothes look more armored that my light armor)
Maybe we could go all funky, and have “glass armor” as a light armor, like the Priory Weapons in PvP. Would synergy well with a Glass Cannon build
Well on the flip-side, I enjoyed WvW for the first few weeks on Sea of Sorrows before I found out the abhorrent faults in the game style that let it down a great deal.
After putting in close to 100 hours this season, it felt disgusting and horrid running from point to point endlessly, watching one side of the map be taken while we equally went ahead and took the other side of the map, or sit there while a much larger zerg just obliterated everything we could muster.
This isn’t at fault of SoS. The game style needs significant improvements itself.
I did come to learn which were the bad commanders, who often just lead us around the map running 15 minutes at a time before waypointing and doing it again. It was easy enough for me to head elsewhere though.
Then there were those who would “work with” blackgate or JQ “arranging it” so we would not attack them while they attacked TC or SoR or whoever. This was infuriating enough for me to just leave and not look back. I can see commanding is hard, but that isn’t being a commander.
There were good commanders also.. one US guy I will call out (commander bibbibby or something I remember) who was really great to follow on teamspeak. Fantastic team work, with sound logic behind tactical attacks (speed stacks, veils, split groups, open wall breaches) led us to quite a few excellent victories while severely outnumbered. This was very enjoyable!
After the first few weeks play though, I had had enough. Season 1 got me in, but I very sincerely doubt I will be back for Season 2, given the WvW knowledge I have gained.
/endofstory.
I’m gearing one character with ascended… my celestial staff ele. One gear set to rule them all.
I just think I might fall into this category now. I’ve never bothered with Celestial armor before, or Ascended weapons even… but there’s sure as hell no way I will make full Ascended sets of zerker, soldiers and rabid armour.
In this iteration, I guess a single Ascended Celestial set is the absolute most I will strive for.
Ironically, I would have preferred a Legendary armour set. The flexibility of having a single set of armour and being able to change stats to any combination I choose is more appealing to me than crafting multiple sets of ascended armour.
I play on a T1 Server (SoS), have completed the meta and put in almost 100 hours in WvW this season. Haven’t seen a queue yet.
Your win is your loss, congrats.
BG, JQ, SoR, SoS, FA are the big oceanic servers. BG probably the biggest for WvW and SoS biggest for PvE.
Does SoS have a good amount of players on for WvW though?
Not in turns of rankings but just the amount of players on.
Well in the weeks since Season 1 started, I’ve put in close to 100 hours on SoS WvWvW and not once have I had to queue..
Coupled with the hilarity of complaints from JQ and BG about queue times, I can tell you there will be less people on SoS, but enough to repeatedly hold and die in at least one map.
Your best fights will be with Maguuma and TC, if they aren’t joining forces with BG/JQ at the time.
Didn’t I just read they are immune to agony now? That’s got to account for something positive?
Sadly it still looks like it is attached to my back with an invisible coat-hanger.
If only it floated like the kites or balloon!
Yeah I somewhat agree with Grump.
I’ve only completed a few fractals, just like I’ve only ever completed a few dungeon paths. Dungeon story lines and first-time runs are fun and interesting, if you have a good group of like-minded players.
Unfortunately Fractals, and Dungeons, both arbitrate rewards through repetition.
While I’m not opposing the method of rewards for those who chose to seek them, it’s a game play style that I’m just not keen on and likely will not spend my time on.
Consequently this update doesn’t draw me in, but best wishes to those who play the new fractal ladder game.
Engies definitely do more aoe damage over elementalists. They have less variety of aoe, but still more consistency.
Give me more 5-second cast high damage aoe skills, and make them 1500 range.
I want to call down death and devastation from the skies, before I take a hit and die!
So, random aoe tagging players for low damage, before running from the first player that heads your way.
Pretty much my staff elementalist wvw experience also.
I just watched the developer stream, and they were taking down Elites in seconds..
I think there truly isn’t enough players in the development versions of the game to indicate just how much some of the creatures scale. This promotes a difficulty level to the end players that the devs can’t be expected to understand.
The game plays entirely different when you have significant numbers of players all playing the game in a different manor.
