Yeah, it’s a silly little detail on some hairstyles, but on some of them it’s really ridiculous that you can’t dye the accessory. I almost never show my helm on my character; if I pick a spiffy hairstyle, I want to see it. It’s frustrating that you can only change it with a hair kit, and then only to the starter palette.
If there’s a way to link hair accessories to the helm dye slot, rather than the hair, that needs to be changed.
Submit one ticket to Support and wait patiently. They have a queue of requests to get through.
^ That’s not why these pve-only players are complaining. They are complaining about doing something that they aren’t familiar with. Their reason being, “I hate PvP even though I’ve never really played it to form an unbiased opinion”.
And besides, you’re presence on the battlefield is no more or less important than anyone else. You have just as much right to be in WvW as anyone else, even if you don’t know it back to front.
I did my JP daily today in SoS borderlands, was I a waste of space during this time? Sure I played for the next 4 hours and was giving TC some hell with my shiny Sylvari warrior [mainly their TF guild
kept annoying them], but before that was I a waste of space?
Silly forum ate my response.
I know the thread is long, but I did make this point before and I did note that I’m not so egotistical as to assume my presence in WvW is going to tip the balance.
I played quite a bit of PvP in GW1, but GW2’s is not a PvP mode I find I enjoy. You clearly enjoy the content even when you’re doing something else in the area. I’m not enjoying it, and I’d rather let the people who are enjoying it be there. Like Pip says, I don’t want to be “that guy” who’s not following directions or getting yelled at.
I wonder, if I went into WvW and announced “I’m just here for map completion, so please don’t ask me to do anything”, do you think I’d get “Okay, that’s cool bro” as a response?
Could it be, coupled with “intentional misspelling”, the substring “sionist” as zionist? Only thing I can think of why Illusionist is banned.
That’s what I was thinking too. I wasn’t even sure that was offensive but it’s all I can come up with.
I have 4 world completions. I’m mainly a WvW player. Have 3 legendaries.
The only problem with this system is the people who want to half play the system.
Does it upset you that WvW players have to farm PvE to make legendaries??
Does it upset you that WvW players have to farm PvE to make legendaries??
Does it upset you that WvW players have to farm PvE to make legendaries??No? Then the original post is completely unjustified, and just selfish and lazy.
Try actually playing WvW, you will probably enjoy it.
Join a WvW guild, use your server teamspeak, immerse yourself in the game mode, and you will actually enjoy WvW, and get your map completion done. Do the above, and you probably stop playing PvE, after realising how boring/easy/clunky the PvE AI is.
Instead of complaining and whingeing, how about you actually play the game you bought. There is a lot more to this game than the dumbed down PvE AI.
@WREAVE, WvW PLAYERS HAVE TO DO PvE TO MAKE LEGENDARIES, YOUR POINT IS FAIL AND MOOT AND WRONG AND CLOSED MINDED
When you go into PvE, you’re not taking a spot away from someone else who wants to play that content. When I go into WvW with no intention of participating just to grab map points, I am taking a spot. Someone else who enjoys that content now has to wait while I kitten around in WvW.
Has nothing to do with the difficulties of either mode.
That’s even more bizarre. How long ago did your guildmates make their characters? Maybe they’ve changed something since then that blocks “Illusionist”?
If everyone else in the guild is using Illusionist + [Name], it must be something about “Sign” that’s setting it off, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what.
I just quit exploration at 95%. Will never get my gold star. Ticks me off but it’s obviously my own fault for not being a good little metric.
You think that ticks you off? I’m stuck at 99% because i’m missing 1 Point of Interest.. xD
Yup, trust me also, it is the Chantry of Secrets. It’s really deceptive because the map will not show that you’re missing that POI. You will not know it’s there until you’ve been there! Very frustrating!!! Happened to all of us :-[
And even if you HAVE been there, sometimes you have to go back when you’ve done everything else to trigger it.
You should send support a ticket and self-report your name that way. I’m sure they’ll help you out!
I don’t understand why people feel that they should be given something that they don’t deserve. 100% Completion is just that…completion. Asking for the WvW parts to be taken out is the same as asking for vista to be taken out.
Here’s my issue with it. It’s not about it being “too hard” for me to complete. It’s not about my not really wanting to do WvW or PvP, although that’s a little of it.
It’s that if myself and other people are just running around in there to get exploration points, we’re dead weight to the people that actually ARE there for the fight. I don’t want to be that person who’s not helping. I don’t want to take the spot of someone who wanted to participate. It’s like if there was an achievement for completing a dungeon without ever attacking anything. Would you want me on your dungeon run if I was just going to stand around picking my nose until you killed everything?
I know, in the grand scheme of WvW, one player or even 10 running around without actually participating probably doesn’t really make much difference. But some of us are … not jerks? I don’t like the idea of taking up a space to not actually do the content as it is designed.
WvW isn’t really PvP as you think it is. The majority of it is “get past that mob of red tags to get to that structure, beat it down and kill the champion mob (hey! PvE! Also, dragonite ore! And lots of it) and stand in the circle”. The only difference is that it isn’t designed to be completed solo. It’s meant to be for your entire server to come together to battle for those structures and keep them.
If you just regear with soldier/knights/cavalier gear for WvW (available in temple NPCs), you’ll make it pretty far. Hell, you might even like it more than “attack this champ with 50 people, move to next waypoint, repeat”.
WvW map completion is ridiculously easy if you play it often. It’s usually just the 1 or 2 keeps in EBG that’s the problem, but with RNG colours, it’s not as much of an issue as before. I just wish it was more randomised. Blackgate has been green since the end of leagues all except 1 week.
But see, I don’t play it often. Or, really, ever. I also don’t really want to be that person where someone yells out an acronym that I don’t know at me, expecting me to do something, and I have no idea what he means so I get yelled at.
I can’t comment on whether I’d like it better than a champ zerg, since I don’t participate in those either.

For anyone new to the ops threads:
He made a nasty comment on the forums.
2 minutes later he received an email with a green quaggon backpack.
He is under the belief that Anet sent him the backpack as a bribe to keep him quite.I only wish it was really that easy.
I’m impressed that you were able to figure that out.
And seriously if Anet sent a free backpack to everyone who complained on the forum we’d all be drowning in the things. Even so called fan-boys like me and Vayne put up negative topics now and then.
But hey, maybe the OP is on to something. Maybe I should start ranting about how much the Wintersday Box minis sucked again and I’ll get a free 3-pack?
Hell, if they sent free stuff to everyone who made a nasty forum comment, everyone in the kitten game would have 3 or 4 legendaries by now. And a flying hippopotamus mount.
Change account/display name for security?

Generally they only change the display name by request if you’ve mistakenly used your real name. However, I suppose if you have a strong case for why Liberis compromises your personal privacy, you could submit a ticket to Support and lay out your case. Good luck!
You don’t know whether or not the bots you’ve reported were banned or not. Bot bannings in games often happen in waves; if they ban the moment they’re detected, the bot-makers can use that information in future to try and avoid detection longer. So you might not see immediate action even if a GM reviews your report immediately.
Which brings me to my next point: every report of botting is reviewed for indicators of automated play. We don’t get to know all those indicators, because again, botters can use that information. A video is unlikely to give them any more information than they can already get from internal data.
1) It sounds fun, but it also sounds like a lot of development work toward little game purpose.
2) I believe housing is on the “we’d like to do this” list.
3)Minis? I mean, I play a Ranger because I pretty much always love pet classes. There’s literally no point to a ranger if everyone gets to have a combatant pet.
Although if you mean a pet you could put in your house that would greet you when you got home, I could go for that.
4)I’m sure the level cap will increase whenever there’s an expansion.
Topher’s situation is entirely different than yours.
I can see the rage at not being voted “most helpful”. Then the ensueing link spam to try to win that popularity contest.
no what I see…the guy who is the biggest troll winning….the guy who reply’s to everything but never gives any positive input only tries to lock up every post….
See what I was thinking is sometimes, when I offer the actual, helpful solution… the person calls me a troll and says “u dont work for anet!”. Or they want to argue about the TOS. And then the thread either gets locked, or Gaile comes in and repeats what I (and by that point 6 other people) have said.
So who’s deciding what “helpful” is?
This is pure exageration . I have a very poor computer and delayed skill lagg and it never bothered me . I’ve ran so many dungeons that most of the time I already know when and what to dodge. And if your computer is terrible you must plan even before it happens. Unless you have a lower fps than me you shouldnt complain . My fps between 11-18 depending on the dungeon.
Er … how is one supposed to learn the dungeon in the first place?
You may be unaware of this, but the company may be obligated to take you seriously and contact local law enforcement regarding your threat of self-harm. Please do not make threats like that.
No Dev Menu on the live servers. We get around the same way as everyone else.
I’ve rezzed a dev in Tower of Nightmare, it’s true. Or he was just trying to make me feel better.
Just to let you know, the arenanet tag comes from the guild.. It is technically possible to get the tag without working at arenanet,
You can’t join the guild without working for them, though.
Someone is finding it offensive, because someone is reporting it. Names are reviewed by the moderators when someone reports it. Clearly some of them weren’t being reported. I’m pretty sure you know exactly what’s wrong with (specifically) the first 4 letters of all your names.
Fortunately, I’m sure your post here will help them resolve the inconsistency of only some of them being flagged.
Your name is reviewed when someone reports it. Having the name for X amount of time only means that no one had brought it to support’s attention.
However, first naming offenses are not supposed to be suspended; you are supposed to be able to log back in immediately upon renaming. If you have truly never had a name violation before, you should contact support.

It tells the instance who to show in the cutscene conversations.
I play another game where you have a “permaname” on your account, and you can change your display name to anything you like, even if another person has it.
People will get around the permaname issue by saying to another player’s friends “Hey, it’s me bluestocking my other account got banned/I forgot the password/I made a new one for no reason – can you give me free stuff?” I caught a guy impersonating me once, but luckily no one was fooled because he couldn’t type a complete sentence to save his life.
The other thing people have figured out is how to make their name a command string that can crash a server because they even allow you to use symbols. So that’s fun.
If you find a name offensive, you’re free to report it as someone clearly did for yours.
Sharkmaw Caverns/Weyandt’s Revenge.
I think it was the first one I ever found. I got the vista and then I was like “hey what’s down here?”
Then I spent 45 minutes trying to get through the dark zone.
Now I can run it in 5.
Troll’s End is the bane of my existence since my main is a giant Norn who gets her head stuck in the ceilings.
Infinite Gathering Tools: Some Info for you
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: bluestocking.6148
Actually, they are giving refunds for duplicate tools since they changed them to account bound. There’s a post in this very forum about it.
If you have more than one of the same type of tool, open a support ticket and request your refund.
Edit: Here we go, found the link. http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/account/Infinite-Gathering-Tools-Some-Info-for-you/first#post3223441
See now you have add some proof, but your proof has a fundamental flaw to it. Like all methods of communication with the creators of a product game forums are not a valid sample size of the opinion of the masses. Past studies have shown that a large percentage of the individuals that use such things are mainly disgruntled users, much less are happy customers.
THIS. If 50 people go to a restaurant, and 10 of them have a negative experience, probably 9 of them will complain about it. The 40 people that thought the restaurant was just fine? Maybe 5 of them mention it. People are more likely to complain about a negative than praise a positive.
Furthermore – and I know this will come as a shock
– a lot of those complainers are lying. Here’s a story: I know a lot of people in the games industry. One of them got curious about the people saying things like “I haven’t played [Game Name] in [X time] because it’s dead/sucks/broken/unbalanced/etc.” He went and checked the data on every user he saw that said they weren’t playing.
Every single one was logging in regularly.
Listening =/= Do what we say.
Frankly, a majority of fan ideas are either 1) Terrible, 2) Poorly thought out, or 3) Both.
And most of the time directly contradict each other. As soon as they make a change the players clamored for (like the Flamekissed armor), they get a bunch of angry people who didn’t like the change and want something else.
Reading these forums, it often seems like 90% of the posts are along the lines of “I quit playing this game because everything sucks and I just come here to complain about it.” I wouldn’t listen to those suggestions either.
I am honestly tempted to just mail you my code and let you attempt to steal my account with it. You are clearly just determined to believe that’s all you need to get it.
Right, so when someone assembles the boxes and puts the codes in, do you think they’re blindfolded, or what? If the cable guy comes by and happens to see my serial code on the computer desk, is he going to steal my account?
The serial code is not the sole determinant of who owns the account. You can recover your account without even having your code.
Emailing a code is perfectly fine.
In that case, you could say the guy who put the code in the box is “owner” of the account, since he presumably knows the code too. The person who registers the code and creates the account is the account owner. Anyone else who happens to know the code is not.
It’s not legit. Check the thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/A-Note-about-Phishing-Emails-1/first#post3242473
Also if you could edit the links out of your post so no one clicks on them, please.
The use of town clothes in WvW was an exploit that was not in the intention of their design. They still work in costume brawl, as they were intended to.
Sandra is correct, it is perfectly acceptable to email an unused serial code to another person as a gift. There is no account to share if the code is unused, because no account has been made yet. I bought the game for my sister at launch and did just that with the full knowledge of support (whom I emailed when I couldn’t find a gifting option).
An unopened hard-copy box is basically just a delivery system for an unused code, no different than an email.
So, what are you trying to do with this thread? Has he even filed a ticket?
Frankly, unless you sit over your friends shoulder 24/7, you have no idea if they have proof or not. And in the event they made a mistake, his support ticket will be what fixes it, not your angry thread.
Whatever makes you feel better about girls beating you. ;-)

Well I gotta say you don’t sound that angry about it, thou I imagine you are. heh, kinda funny, you thinking about getting a refund (good luck btw) and Im just thinking about selling my gw2 account. This game isnt what I thought it would be. And if there ever was or is a chance to fix it for the better, they wont. Cause hey! Money you know.
Selling your account is a violation of the Terms of Service. Do not do that.
I believe the red underline beneath the thumb’s-up indicates that it is currently the most popular post on the forum.

I don’t remember the exact details, but I gifted the electronic version to my son…and it worked fine. I just purchased the game and then e-mailed him the link to download and activate…which he did with his own e-mail address. Seemed to work without a hitch.
Yes, this should work fine. Merely email your friend the unused code that you get when you purchase. When he registers it and makes an account he will be the account owner.
Well, they phish by redirecting you to something that looks like here, anyway. It doesn’t do them any good to divert you to an obviously fake site that doesn’t look like Guild Wars.
Glad to help. Gaile has a whole sticky thread full of those things, but I’m on a tablet so its hard to link. You did the right thing to check it here first!
Was it this one, by any chance?
We are sorry to inform you that your login account [name of account redacted] is temporarily closed because it was involved in the sale of in-game items for cash or other items with real world value, or otherwise engaged in gathering items to be sold for cash or other items with real world value. Because that is indeed a phishing email.
To be fair, men could be known as bluestockings too, but as with so many things it was only negative when applied to women. ;-)
That’s probably a phishing email, it sounds like. If you can’t find one like it in the sticky thread, go ahead and post it here without any links. Do NOT click any links in the email.

Possibly you haven’t seen the movie “Fight Club”, which is probably what popularized the term “special snowflake”. If the forum search worked, you could probably find 50+ accounts that have used the phrase.
In any event, I’m not Inc (but I’m flattered to be mistaken for), so I hope you’re not betting real money.
Best of luck with your issue.
Edit: BTW Inc, your PM box is full.
(edited by bluestocking.6148)
So … what is it you want them to do, exactly? Take out all the nonhumans just for your precious snowflake self? Gift you with the achievement points for them?
I swear, some people really don’t understand the concept of a game.
