Ouch, that’s a tough one. Because here’s the thing: if you get a refund from ANet on that debit card, they usually won’t allow it to be used anymore for purchases. So if you’re also using it to buy gems on your account it won’t work.
You’re definitely going to want to talk to Support, because I can see how you wouldn’t want your card to be locked if you’re going to keep playing on your own account!
Or maybe make your brother give you his allowance until you’re paid back.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluestocking
Considering it was often used to mean an unmarriageable, over-educated woman, I find it rather amusing that the linked trademark is to a vinegar company.
But you see, the “bluestocking” has a common, innocent meaning. What’s the common, innocent, well-known meaning of yours?
Regardless, it’s not a copyrighted character or real person. Lady Gaga is a character, that Stephani Germanotta plays. It’s a stage persona, just like the name you chose.
so you don’t think urben refernces are good enough reason for a ban so what if s name was a word begining with C that is slang for ladys parts that is not The real meaning of The word would should this be allowed then?
I am dying to know if you’re the dude named “Cervix” that my husband saw in game yesterday. I win the bet if he posts before 2 days is up.
Thus why I linked the “copyrighted or trademarked characters”. A stage name can be considered a character, especially if it’s used consistently in the context of performances.
It’s also in violation of one or both of these clauses, drug references aside:
-Reference real-life people
-Reference names of copyrighted or trademarked characters, materials, or products
Do you have a character created at launch, or did you at some point delete your first character and make a new one at a later date? The gifts are by character age, not account.
“Each gift is given on the first birthday of the character, not the account.”
I am afraid that is stupid.
I have head start, beta and pre order bla bla bla and because I decided to delete a character after the first 28 days and re-roll it I now have to wait said 28 days. UGH!!
Should be account biased. I am playing the game not the avatar behind the screen.
Your playing an MMORPG, emphasis on the RPG. You are playing the character on the screen, your just allowed to have options when picking which one to play.
I here you and have excepted it. Just every other MMO allows for the actual account time to matter. But we all know GW is cut from a different mold. I am sorta over it. :- )
IIRC, birthday gifts in GW1 were also by character.
I’m also on another MMO that awards you a medal for each year of play per character, not per account. Some of my characters have 8-year medals, and some only have two. On the same account. I don’t think it’s as uncommon as you believe.
You’re not supposed to get the suspension unless you’ve already had a name violation. You will, however, be disconnected and unable to log in on that character until you change it.
I wish we could sticky this thread as the BEST example of how to politely request a review of your name ban. Because even if you totally have the worst name ever this is how you ask about it.
Customer support is available 24/7, but as yours is not a high priority issue it might be a day or two before they get back to you.
You might want to consider changing your email account entirely. If you make a new one and contact Support, they can help you link your GW2 account to a new email.
If he think’s he’s being polite now, I’d hate to see him actually get insulting.
But you’re not using the word “dank”, you’re using “danky”. Which is not the same word. “Lad” and “lady” are not the same thing, right? Read and ready?
I don’t see “danky” in Webster’s. Which would seem to make it a “homemade term”.
The way it’s supposed to work is, if you have a name that is flagged as inappropriate, the first time you’re allowed back in as soon as you rename the character. The second time, you’re suspended for 72 hours and required to rename. And the penalties go one from there.
It sounds like you guys are saying you’ve not been required to rename any characters at any point?

No, they are not legit emails. You can see multiple examples of the identical emails here. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/A-Note-about-Phishing-Emails-1/first#post2074388
Also, OP, you should remove the links to prevent accidental clicks on them, as a mouseover clearly shows that it will redirect people to an external (non-GW2) site.
Reporting does nothing unless you’re actually breaking the rules. There’s no “auto-ban bot” that hits you as soon as you’re reported. A GM reviews the reports.
And like Gassy says, if you don’t do anything bannable, you’re not going to get banned. I’ve been reported in dozens of games for reasons that are beyond ridiculous (“too old to play this game” was one!) I’ve never had so much as a suspension.

Michael, I hope this clarifies the situation.
Each GW2 game serial code is associated with its own account. Each account has its own email address associated with it. You cannot link multiple GW2 serial codes to a single account/login. Everything is separate. You owned one serial code/copy of the game. Let’s call that “Copy1”
- Copy1 has an email address associated with it.
- Copy1 also has its own forum account and forum username associated with it.
- Copy1 also has its own support account that is linked to the email address.
- Copy1’s support account login credentials should be created with a different password than the game login credentials for security reasons.
At this point you have an error. Copy 1 cannot be supported with a support account that uses it’s email address. You will not be able to create a support account without a 2nd email address, a rather bizarre situation. One can create different usernames, different passwords, etc, but still will get an error message if you use the account email. Since I have only one public facing email account, I chose to see if there was a live contact method, which would expedite the process.
This was my first foray into a 2nd GW2 account, and then my first need of support. It unearthed the requirement to create 2 email addresses, one to support Copy 1, then one to register Copy 2. There is also the implicit requirment to create still a 3rd email account should Copy 2 need suppost. I’m deciding at the moment what to do on that matter.
I understand completely how to create more email addresses, redirect email addresses, etc. but also know the perils of dragging an evergrowing list of emails behind me, all of which need some sort of servicing regularly.
I’m using the same email address for both my game account and support account. Perhaps there is some other error?
It doesn’t matter why someone reported it, it only gets a forced change if a mod looks at it and finds it actually violates the naming policy. However, they have been known to block names by mistake, so you might want to submit a ticket.
Although I didn’t think they forcibly renamed characters, only account names. Usually you need to rename the character for a first offense.

I have this very same problem, i bought a total makeover kit yesterday and so far i haven’t received it.
Have you made sure you are not over the game mail limit of 10/10? If your mail is full you won’t get it until you delete some old mail.
Oh bugger!, thanks mate you were right.
Don’t worry, I think literally everyone has done that. My husband sent me something just last week and I was complaining that it never arrived. Sure enough, my mail was full! And I tell people to check all the time!

Read a book. Help your mom with some chores. Sort through your clothes for back-to-school. Learn some new ways to deal with your frustrations that don’t involve swearing at people, for sure.
Well obviously the OP knew it was offensive. I mean, you don’t get really mad at a guy in WvW and say “You are an attractive and successful French fellow! But your actions anger me!”
(edited by bluestocking.6148)
Punctuation is your friend, man.
I mean, I want to give you some advice but come on, I’m 40 and wear glasses. I can’t read that.
Do you want them to investigate your issue, or do you just want them to grovel at your feet? Honestly the entitlement of some people. Maybe they should go to a subscription model, eh?
I think they were trying to make it easy for their players by making a universal wallet, thus making it easier for you to level up new characters and/or make sure you were able to buy the item you wanted for the specific characters. It’s just that your idea of what’s easier doesn’t mesh.
Phishing email. Check the sticky thread.
Have you checked your spam and junk folders? Has it been 72 hours with no reply?
If yes, you’ll want to put the ticket number in this thread for review: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-and-older-merged/page/74#post2576342
One ticket is all you need; multiple tickets actually slow down a response. If it’s been more than 3 days, you should post one of the ticket numbers in the sticky thread of tickets for review and then close the other.
If you’ve done that 5 times, you’re actually delaying your response. I’d suggest you close all the tickets you’ve opened but one. Follow the directions that you just pasted to set up an account and do that.
The email address is spoofed. It’s easy to do. I get stuff that appears to be from my OWN email address, but when you check the information you can see that’s not the case.
Furthermore, there’s a nearly infinite combination of URLs that a site can tack on after the guildwars2.com part. It’s simply not possible for one company to own them all.
This is NOT a legitimate GW2 email. You have been phished. Please refer to the sticky thread on the topic and you’ll see the same email there: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/A-Note-about-Phishing-Emails-1/first#post2074435
You’re going to want to immediately change your password and possibly your email address that you use for the game.
Edit: Also, you should edit your post to remove those links so that no one accidentally clicks them.

If you’ve entered your account information at that link, your account is compromised. Just because the thief has yet to do anything with your account doesn’t mean it is safe. It just means that he has a key to your house, as it were, and you need to change the locks before he gets around to coming in and stealing your socks.
If you clicked the link but did not enter any info, you still may have some malware on your computer. I’d suggest running a virus and malware scan and then changing your password and email.

You’re going to want to change your email and password immediately. Start with the password, and then submit a ticket to Support for help changing your email. Best of luck to you.
And more of this – i want to know, what exactly can give Arena.net any cause to suspect a player. I have programmable keyboard, mouse and video recorder (and also i play GW2 on linux sometimes). All of this is a legal software, but if this can be a occasion – tell us please.
Supports words “I am unable to provide you with any more detailed information regarding our detection methods” – give no understanding to players about what software can be installed/work on our PC.
You will not get an answer to this question. Telling a person exactly how they got caught will only help them to avoid detection longer next time.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/A-Note-about-Phishing-Emails-1/first#post2535375 Here’s the thread.
If you really want to help your friend, you should not do things on his “behalf” that violate more rules. This just says to me that you’re all people who think the rules do not apply to them, and that you can break whichever ones you like.
You have to wait three days AT MOST. If he’s updated his ticket then he may get a response sooner. That forum is because 72 hours is considered the maximum length of time for a reply.
Yeah this is not how people get a review of their ban. Your friend needs to open a Support ticket. This will do nothing but possibly get your forum privileges revoked.
Gaile, have I told you today that I love you?
The thing to remember is that A) there are increasing suspension times per offense, and b) people are not always suspended immediately because a GM needs to review the report.
So if someone is harassing you and you report them, they may still be online an hour or two later because the report has yet to be reviewed. And, if it’s their first offense they may be back in the game sooner than you think. Unless you’re following them around for a straight week, you really have no way of knowing.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s so much that it’s “offensive”; after all “moobs” pokes fun at yourself more than anything. But it falls in the list of “body parts we don’t want in names.”
You sure do like to push your luck.
Check your mailbox. The mailbox being too full is the #1 cause of not receiving items from the gem store!
Well there’s your problem. I mean seriously, it’s right there in the email. Your friend bought a code from some third-party that’s probably not legit or was used for more than one account.
Did he buy the second account from the same retailer, or did he download it direct from the site here?
Ok. I’ll rephrase what I said on my previous post.
- It’s not illegal to send someone gold to help get the title.
- It’s not illegal to send someone materials to help make a Legandary.
- You can get a ban for doing this even though its not illegal. Your account gets flagged and the person who looks at it can make a mistake and think you were gold selling/gold buying.
- if this happens you can contact support and get the ban lifted.
This was better than my answer but somehow I got bumped. Oh well.
And how could they hit both Astral and Inculpatus? You guys are the best!
No, it’s not illegal.
Yes, it is possible support might make a mistake and confuse it for something else that is illegal.
Have you checked in your Collectibles tab? I thought I’d lost my Risen Knight, but it turned out I’d clicked “deposit all collectibles” and he’d gone in there.
Have you checked to see if your mailbox is full? That’s the #1 cause of not receiving mail. Try deleting some mail marked with the envelop symbol.
They don’t allow “poop”, you really thought “herpies” was going to fly?
The more times you cause an infraction, the longer your suspension gets. You kept picking names you knew were shady, and your time-outs will keep getting longer until you, as Gaile is fond of saying, “choose wisely”.
Your friend needs to file a ticket with Support. They can help him. Have him file one ticket, and do not bring it to the forums unless he’s gone over 72 hours without a reply.
