Look, we understand you’re annoyed that your issue was not properly resolved. Mistakes happen. Heck, even Inc was “permanently” banned for a mistake, and it took her … I think it was 4 or 5 ticket updates to get it resolved? So it’s not like she’s unsympathetic to your plight.
When we say “don’t make multiple tickets”, we’re trying to be helpful. Gaile has said that this only slows the process down. And since clearly you want it resolved quickly, we’re trying to help that happen by suggesting you not make multiple tickets. That’s all. Frankly, you’re the one kind of jumping down throats here.
I’m assuming that you’ve posted the original ticket number and explanation in the dedicated thread for tickets older than 72 hours?
It’s one of my usual online handles. “Bluestocking” is an archaic term for a woman who was considered over-educated, unfemininely intellectual, and basically unmarriageable. I rather like it (although my spouse disagrees with the last bit.)

Considering there was a mistake on there end with the returning of my item that I through the gem shop spent A FORTUNE on… I think the gravity of the situation needed that fresh request, and inculpatus you’re not a GM so stop policeing my help thread as if you were one. I am still awaiting a reply , and another reason for the new request is one I do not think they are aware that the issue was not resolved so its an entirely different problem now.
1) I was supposed to get my legendary back
2) Now I have an ascended trinket and a enjoy message in my mailbox ……………??
Inc is just repeating what Gaile has said many many times – not to open a second ticket. Even if they say the ticket is resolved, you should be able to update it with the information that they’ve misunderstood your request.
I will admit I’ve always been a bit sad that there are no rare pets in this game. I played a “certain other game” for years, and I may have a tiiiiny hoarding mentality with the pets there. I think I literally have about 50 pets in that game. >.>
What with my love of pet collecting, the rare pets in that game were the next logical personal goal. I would wait in stealth for hours in one spot, hoping for my target to appear at any second. Seeing the pet in question suddenly appear and then taming it, heart pounding, was easy to get addicted to! In fact, I became very good at hunting rares in general. Major, major hobby. I miss it.
Haha are you me? I loved tracking them down. I had that add-on that would alert you when the rare you were tracking appeared, and hearing that alarm go off was such a shot of adrenaline! And once I had mine, helping someone else track down and tame their rare was the next best thing.
I can’t really articulate what it is, but the ranger pets just aren’t as interesting here. I don’t really feel attached to them, I guess. They don’t really seem to have personalities.
I do miss the interesting looking pets you could get in WoW. I loved my green-orange striped tiger (think He-Man’s pet). And the day I managed to snare the giant purple spider that would instakill you if you got too close, with the help of half a dozen guildmembers distracting it for me.
Here I mostly don’t like the look of pets that I like the skills of, and vice versa. And I do kind of miss the challenge of searching out those rare skins.
I’ve played an MMO with this interface. People have still found ways to scam using it.
GW1 had that interface. The complaints of scamming got so bad that it’s the very reason GW2 doesn’t have that interface.
I haven’t been on GW1 in probably 5 years, so I don’t remember the trading interface. In the game I’m thinking of, people would do something like “oh here have some free stuff along with the (expensive) item you want!” Then they’d fill the trade window with junk until the first item scrolled off the screen, and then pull it out of the trade.
I have no problems with my Ranger in PvE, and I enjoy pet classes. They’re always my first choice.
To add to what AP has said, I believe that commenting on forum moderation policies is a no-no. You’d get an infraction if you came in complaining that they’d locked a thread; complaining that they have not locked a thread is just the other side of that coin.
I am sorry for your loss. And curious. What difference would it make if the scammer was ‘face-to-face’ with you? I mean, if the method of exchange was the same….whether he is across the zone or standing right in front of you, you would still have trusted enough to send him the gold first, no?
In other MMOs that I have played, the face-to-face trade is a special window. All items to be traded must be in the box and then both can click “accept.” If one of the items is subsequently withdrawn (as in an attempted scam), the “accept” status resets and then both members must again accept. It is a much more scam-proof system than sending by mail. WoW also has a COD option on the mail which allows a person to send an item COD…and the other party cannot take the item until they accept…which automatically deducts gold from them. I don’t see anything in GW2 that works that way…but I have not really explored it.
I’ve played an MMO with this interface. People have still found ways to scam using it.
No, the source of the problem is that people want to be jerks and so they’re going to be jerks. It doesn’t matter if they decide to send you messages because you typed something on the forums or because they asked for a gold in the game and you said no.
They’re not “tracking you down”, and there’s no privacy breach. They could as easily be sending you forum PMs as whispers in-game. If you blocked me in the game and I started PMing you here instead, would you have the same concern?

Thing is, I literally started getting these emails the day I made my GW2 account. I never used the same email on any 3rd party sites so it can’t have been cross referenced in that way.
In my experience (and I have plenty) you guys have a data leak (either internal or external) or your accounts database is compromised in some way. That is how the scammers are finding out the email addresses linked to peoples accounts.
As has been said many times, people are getting these emails who do not even have GW2 accounts. People are getting the identical emails but replace “ArenaNet” and “GW2” with “Blizzard” and “WoW”.
Meanwhile I’m using the same email I’ve used for 5 other MMOs and have yet to get a single one.
Permanent gathering tools refundable in gems?

You should file a ticket with support. They are indeed refunding some gems to people who bought multiples.
(=character) to (=account)
Yep that work was totally worth a 25% price increase across the board.
Granted if I were in their shoes, I’d do the same thing since it’s quick, easy, more profitable, and I’d get customers praising me let alone defending me. It’s a no brainer.
From the sounds of other comments, it’s free to upgrade tools you’ve already purchased… essentially grandfathering them in. Future tools will have a soulbound and an account bound version, with the account bound version being 200 gems more.
This is the impression I’m getting from the notes and what others seem to be saying. I’ll know in a few hours when I finally get home and can log on.
I upgraded mine just now. It is indeed free to upgrade ones you already own. You trade them in at the Black Lion weapon vendor.
I would assume that future tools will only be account-bound, since what’s to stop me from buying the cheaper tool and then trading it in? If they pull that functionality from the vendor, they’ll have a bunch of people who don’t log in during the time it’s available and then can’t trade.
How would someone KNOW your serial #?
Easy. I bought the game online for my sister. I then emailed her the serial code I received so she could activate it.
Somewhere in my emails is her code, in case we ever need it again.
We have a waypoint system. I can never wrap my head around the ridiculous obsession with mounts. They are unnecessary and generally look ridiculous.
Because running across the countryside day in, day out isn’t far more ridiculous than using mounts.
Mounts are typically seen as a good thing because they just give players something else to pursue and can be interesting. Personally, I think it’d be cool if they went all the way with it and set up rules for mounted combat.
Yeah, I tend to prefer mounts because I like the immersion of traveling all over the game world “on foot” as it were. Waypoints are convenient, sure, but I’ll often opt to walk to an area just because I enjoy the scenery.
Even after they put flying mounts in WoW, I’d sometimes just ride my zhevra across the Barrens or Mulgore for fun. When they let you fly everywhere, I’d go around the edges of the continents taking in the views.
I’m not upset that there’s no mounts in the game, but I certainly wouldn’t say no if they were implemented.
A snail ate your leaves. An eeeeevil snail.
When I bought it for my brother, I took the digital deluxe code they emailed me, pasted into photoshop with directions on how to download, plus fancy graphics and such, printed it out, folded it into an envelope, put it in a cardboard box of packing peanuts, empty envelopes and toilet paper, gift-wrapped it. it took him all of like 30 seconds to find the real one.
Haha I wish I’d thought of that! That would have driven my sister nuts.
I soloed the Christmas toymaker blimp thing last year. By accident. I had just gotten the game, didn’t realize what it was, and thought the exploration mode was an easy “take a look at this neat content” mode.
Once I was in there, I just figured it was really hard because I wasn’t very good at the game and I was like level 30. I got lucky with the events that triggered and managed to plug my way through the whole thing.
You can totally give the game as a gift by sending the unused code to a friend. I bought it for my sister at launch this way.
ArenaNet considers the person who activates the code and makes an account to be the owner. Just go ahead and email your friend the code and you should have no trouble.
Ascended weapons.
To get your weaponcrafting skill to level 400, you have to spend 30g.
http://www.gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_fast.html
After that, to get to 450, you have to spend an extra 40g.
http://www.gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_450.html
To get that last 50 levels, you have to spend 140g.
http://www.gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_400.html
Real life money can be converted to gems. Gems can be converted to gold. Gold can be converted to Ascended weapons. Ascended weapons is the advantage over poor players.
Guild Wars 2 is definitely not pay2win.
The point, it’s strong with this one. I hadn’t even considered the ascended weapons, which are a huge advantage in small scale battles. The disparity will only grow with ascended armour.
I’m a little confused by that. Clicking his link and looking at the numbers, it looks like you only have to spend that gold if you’re buying all the materials. Which since it’s a guide on how to level it fast, makes sense. Buying them is faster than gathering I’m sure.
What is in the gem store that’s giving an advantage, exactly?
The toy axe with the executioner outfit gives an unfair mobility advantage. But so far, other than the transmutation crystal racket they’ve got going that’s the only time Anet’s really crossed the line IMO.
An unfair mobility advantage … in costume brawl?
Lol, it has a 600 range rush on 3s cooldown, even higher ranger if you have +movement speed or swiftness. Ive seen entire packs of gankers in WvW use it to catch up to and roll over unsuspecting victims. This item also single handedly removes Mesmer’s ooc mobility weakness, among other classes like necro and guard.
You’ll have to forgive me, I don’t play WvW. You’re saying they switch into town clothes, zoom up to people, and then switch back and attack?

It does little good to argue the case here, forum-users have no control over your suspension. You need to take it up with CS. They may decide it was a mistake, …or not.
A bunker build wasn’t the first thing that sprang to mind for me, though. Good luck.
I’ve taken it up with CS already, just here to reply to those who comment now. It wasn’t really an ‘unban me guys’ but more of a ’what’s your opinion?’ thread.
Welp, you sure got opinions.
Look, dude. You can say someone thinks it’s “because of their misconceptions” and that you chose it because it was deeply meaningful or your dear departed uncle’s nickname or whatever. The criteria isn’t what you think it means. The criteria is what a reasonable person who does not know you thinks it means. No one’s getting your backstory when they see the name.
There’s a town in Austria that starts with F, (and it’s not “firetruck”). If I put that as my name, no one is going to assume I’m from Austria.
For future reference, it’s the “poo” part that’s not permitted. You’ll want to make sure that your new name doesn’t include that.
I’m not understanding the issue. You can still block and report that person, regardless of how s/he decided to pick you as a victim. I’m not seeing how it matters if someone chooses to call me names because they disagreed with me on the forum, or because they decided my Norn’s butt was too big in-game.
Is that a quaggan in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
The trench coats look cool from the front, I think. The problem is I’m usually looking at my character from the back, and all I can see is the coat down to her ankles.
I am a male and can never bring myself to play a female, it just annoys me. I tend to play melee / tankish type characters, and the dainty females being in the fray wearing chainmail lingerie seems stupid to me.
Similarly, I am female and almost never enjoy playing male characters. I know a lot of women do, for various reasons, but most of the time it never even occurs to me to make my toon anything but female.
But I find the idea of a dainty female in lingerie kicking butt with a giant sword to be great fun. In fact I went out of my way to make my Guardian and Warrior the most petite, delicate-looking humans possible. Meanwhile, my Ele is a Charr.
In that, the Saint Row series, as silly as it is, does a better job, although taking it a bit to the extreme.
If I want to go around punching ganbangers and aliens as a male in a kittentail dress, I can. If I want to go around blowing up police cars and ambulances as a female dressed in a shirtless luchador attire, I can.
I absolutely adore this about the SR series. All options available regardless of gender. You want a lush beard on your female character? Go for it! In SR4, my husband picked a female template at the start, and then changed his mind and made her male. But it doesn’t let you change the default outfit right at the start, so his big bald burly guy was in a purple skirt suit and pearls for the first 15 minutes of the game.
I think “variety” is the word we’re looking for. I think ridiculously skimpy female armor is hilarious, but if you’re not looking to giggle at your character’s ludicrous miniskirt-of-straps there should be other options.
And this goes for both genders; I’ve seen at least 3 threads where the guys are requesting a toggle to hide their chest piece so they can go shirtless.
How do I Buy GW2 (Heroic Edition) as a gift?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: bluestocking.6148
Yes, as Mercury says: Do not make an account with the codes. Email the unused serial code to your giftees.
I bought the game at launch for my sister, and it’s perfectly fine as long as you do not use the code yourself. The person who registers the code by making an account is considered the account owner.

The email is not legit. There are examples of that identical email in the linked thread. ArenaNet doesn’t warn you before they shut down your account; if you’ve done something wrong they just suspend you.
As for the second authorized location, is it Texas by any chance? When you log into the forums it often shows an IP in Texas, where those servers are.
well, the leather armor is actually the most closed down armor line there is, i can only remember 2 armors in the entire line that looks revealing. (not skimpy mind you).
Yeah, I was trying to find something that showed off my Norn ranger’s full arm and leg tattoos, and the leather armor is mostly very full-coverage. Especially from the back, which is mainly where I’m looking at her.

Yes, there are some female gamers and some who read comics, but they far fewer than their male counterparts.
I have no idea about comics, and I don’t know what the exact figures are for GW2, but recent surveys show that around 50% of gamers are female. This idea that women are a tiny minority of gamers also needs to die; it is horrifically inaccurate.
Yes, I stand corrected, nearly 50% of gamers are women, but women spend less money, less time playing, are far less likely to play video games as a primary hobby and, oddly, more likely to feel guilty about playing. Also women are less likely to be playing Strategy, Role Playing, Action, and Fighting games while they are more likely to be playing Social, Puzzle/Card, Music/Dance, Educational, and Simulation games. So yes, while women do compose about 1/2 the gaming community, more than 1/2 in some demographics, it doesn’t mean we’re playing the same games for the same amount of time. I suppose I should have qualified the RPG genre. An MMO may be a little different than a standard RPG in that it has a social aspect that many women tend to like, but typically the goals between men and women are vastly different. It doesn’t change the fact that GW2 is marketed to attract the male player population.
So with GW2 the ratio could generously be as high as 25-30% women, though I personally think it’s more like 10-20%. In my circle of friends, in my original guild, I knew 3 out of 20 players were women, only two played seriously, one played entirely for the social aspect and never did more difficult content. The other is the only one is still playing and does mostly WvW. I know one other woman who plays WoW fairly seriously and one who plays Counterstrike.
A small 2012 study on the male vs. female video game community.
http://usabilitynews.org/video-games-males-prefer-violence-while-females-prefer-social/
WoW published demographics a few years ago. For North American players, it was, I think, 46% women. That’s not female characters, mind you, that’s actual women playing. We are most definitely playing these games.

Yes, I did it what you did, the more the friend not me who all signed up for it on my PC and I want the gift to him but I can not get on the forum or in the game. I do not want to change anything just give him acc. And has very topic around, many players with the same problem I bought the game cadastram everything right and can not log into the website and not in GW2.
Yes, many people are having the problem logging in. I’m telling you that you can’t give your account to someone else. That is a different problem.
Yes, if you delete all your characters you can choose a new server for free. Be sure to deposit anything you want to keep in your bank.

Okay, let me see if I’ve got this:
1) You bought the game.
2) You made an account on the game (you used the serial code)
3) You want to give this account to your friend, but he cannot change the email to his own.
Is this correct?
Your problem may be that YOU are considered the account owner since you made the account. Transferring an account to another player is not allowed. If you want to give your friend the gift of GW2, you have to send the unused serial code.
Since you made the account, you are the owner. You can’t give that account to someone else.
Edit: This was to Jow, I didn’t quote and the thread got merged.

I’m sorry, I’m confused as to what you mean when you say “bought a key to a friend”. Did you purchase a key from a friend, or did you buy one and send it to a friend?
The account owner is whoever has registered the account, which may or may not be the original purchaser of the key. If you purchased a key from a friend that was already registered, support will not be able to help you.
I agree, fix stowing. If you don’t want a pet out you shouldn’t be a Ranger, so disallow it entirely.
I love pet classes. I play them almost exclusively. But my class is irrelevant in a jumping puzzle, so I’d like to be able to turn the little guy off so I can see better. I have enough trouble having made a gigantic Norn and getting the camera stuck in caverns.
The developers have said they’re looking into adding language support.
Level requirements are against the design philosophy of the tool. They want as few restrictions as possible.
I’m with you on the first one. I like to stow my pet for jumping puzzles so it doesn’t wind up on top of me and I have to stow it again when a jump or a fall gives me even a tiny bit of damage.
“Marijuna”, the player’s character name, is not the spelling of the ‘illegal in some places’ plant, “Marijuana”.
It has an entirely different pronunciation without the ‘a’.
It changes from “Mary-Who-On-a” (or “Marrow-Who-On-a”) to “Mary-June-a”.“Creative” spellings are also not allowed. Nice try.
I think it’s less likely to be “creative” than just misspelled.
They generally anagram the offending name, so I can take a good guess at what yours used to be.
Like I told you in your first thread, you need to do that in a support ticket. Do not make a new one, update one of the ones you’ve already made and close the other.
“Poop” is not permitted. You’ll need to change all the names. Also I’d expect your account name to be changed as well.
You shouldn’t have to buy a name change for this. You should be prompted to change the characters’ names when you select one. If you do not get the prompt you should open a support ticket and ask for help renaming.
Please try to make names that are not in violation of the naming policy (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-naming-policy/). The suspension times will increase every time a name is found to be inappropriate.
Oh, they leave reasons to why they’re reporting themselves. It’s quite interesting.
Well now I’m really curious. I mean, I know you can’t really share, but I’m dying to know.
