The number one cause of not receiving items is a full mailbox. Try deleting some of your mail marked with the envelope symbol.
Yeah, I get what you’re going for with Pooka, but it probably is the first three letters and/or the resemblance to a certain f-word when you vary the spelling. I don’t believe you’re trying to sneak in a profanity, but the rule will occasionally catch the innocent name that happens to match up. I remember a guy a few months ago who had trouble with the name “Foo Foo Cuddly Poops” for similar reasons.

Yes, I’ve tried out the total makeover kit on a couple of characters without using it, just to see what changes I could make. As long as you don’t confirm the changes you can use it to preview.
Honestly, it’s more effort to add the profanity into your typing. Wouldn’t it have been more efficient just to type “can you stay in one place for a minute” than to add the profanity in there?

Ok, so automated 3rd person programs are not allowed. But can i use a program with which i can rebind my left mouse button to a key on the keyboard?
I am still manually buying and drinking the drinks and it is not automated. I find pressing a key on the keyboard easier / more comfortable than clicking the mouse.
Can you not do that just from the game settings? I’m a lefty and I like to use my mouse left-handed, so I’ve remapped all my skills to my number pad. I haven’t tried to remap my mouse buttons, but I thought I saw that as an option.

I got one of these to. I only started an account recently and now I receive this email. This is either a coincidence, or arenanet have a data leak. I’m betting it’s a leak, it usually is in this situations :/
People get these identical mails purporting to be from Blizzard. People get both that don’t even HAVE an account with Blizzard or ArenaNet.
I get spam emails spoofing my mother’s email that say “sent from my iPhone”. You might say that’s a data leak from Apple, but neither my mother nor myself own a single Apple product, let alone have iPhones.
Gaile’s post lacks the pertinent information about what her favorite kind of cookies might be. In case one wanted to send something that wasn’t a PM.
You should be able to tell which character is the issue by trying to log in. One of them should say “you must rename this character in order to continue”. If you’re still having difficulty, you can contact Support.
If it’s your first violation, you shouldn’t be suspended at all, you’d just have to change the name to log in. Possibly it’s another character that is the issue?
It’s a reference to touch football, as far as I knew. It does get mentioned in a pretty dirty song, I guess I could see why someone might have thought it was sexual?
Your friend will need to contact Support, either via the support link or directly through email. There is always a reason given, what does the screen say when she attempts to log in?

You cannot play the game while you’re in the shower. You should be actively playing the game or you should log out until you can. It’s that simple.

Could be two different people reporting you. The first time you are just asked to rename. The second time, they did look at the background, saw that it was your second violation, and suspended you in accordance with their policy.
After the 72 hours is up, you should be able to try logging into your characters and see which one needs renaming. Most of the time, people know their characters’ names are sketchy, but it does occasionally happen that one is flagged by mistake – there was just a guy a few weeks ago that got flagged somehow for the name “Grey”. If you really, truly, cannot tell what needs to be renamed you should open a support ticket and I’m sure they will help you out.

The only time I started to get these emails was when I signed up for the Diablo 3 beta. The emails where about my battlenet account. Now when i bought gw2 and created the account here, the emails have changed to the emails most people are receiving. I’m just curious to what battlenet and arenanet do with our email addresses. Is this coincidence that I happen to make either of these accounts and have these spam emails follow?
I have a battlenet account (and I had D3 and Pandaria beta access), and an arenanet account using the same email address. I’ve never had a single one of these phishing mails. So yes, I’d say it’s a coincidence.
About refunds, please keep this in mind: if you bought the game for your friend using your credit card, and they request a refund, ArenaNet has said they bar that card from making future purchases. If you have used the same credit card to purchase all these digital copies, you may find yourself in some difficulty if you wish to use it again later.
So to sum up: you bought the games from retailers that are VERY clear about their refund policies on games, and now you want a refund from another party because you knew when you bought the games that you couldn’t get a refund from the retailers.
If you buy a book from Amazon that you don’t enjoy reading, would you call up the author and demand they give you back your money? No. You have to negotiate a refund with the vendor you purchased from. Period.

Look, dude. YOU didn’t pay ArenaNet. If you bought the game with cash from <otherstore> THEY paid ArenaNet for the game. No company anywhere is going to put money on your credit card, as a refund for a game that isn’t even registered in your name.
I mean come on, look at this from a neutral perspective. Someone is trying to get a refund, for something they allegedly paid untraceable cash for (do you even have the receipt?). AND they’re trying to get it for an account that isn’t even their own. I mean, if I wrote in demanding a refund for Gassy.8975’s account, claiming he was my little brother and I paid cash and he doesn’t like it, does that sound kosher to you?

Well, looks like you had that 72 hour ban coming! Don’t believe that you live in the fantasy land where you get to type all the naughty words you like without consequences. It doesn’t sound like 72 hours is going to prevent you from acting just the same when you come back, so I’m not sure how 24 hours would be “sufficient”.

Nobody knows what anet actually does but anet. I get that you like the hall-monitor thing, but it’s kind of silly to post in every single thread.
Well, ANet has said, through Gaile, in multiple threads, that they do not auto-ban and all evidence is reviewed by a real person. So if you don’t believe Gaile, I guess you won’t believe anyone.
I think we’re all in the same boat that we really, really, like GW2. I’m just not keen to getting upset and don’t trust the devs/support.
I’m a little confused as to what your goal making the thread is, then. If you don’t trust ANet, you can’t be asking them for “any ideas”, and if you disbelieve any players that post because they’re not ANet, you wouldn’t be asking them either. I don’t know what options are left.

I love these threads because it reminds me ArenaNet isn’t letting people get away with the things they get away with in other games. I suggest using these 3 days to find different ways of responding to people who annoy you (it’s best not to respond at all), because if I’m not mistaken the next suspensions will be 7 days.
ArenaNet doesn’t play around when it comes to stuff like this, fortunately.

Look, there’s no bible of the internet that says what the rules “should” be. Every site gets to pick. They can literally put in in the TOS “anyone who says ‘banana’ gets a 3-day ban”. I’ve seen a forum that infracts you if you comment on something funny with “you made me spit out my drink”. If you come over to my house and think “make me a sammich” jokes are funny, I can throw you out and never invite you back. Even if you bought an expensive plane ticket to come visit me.

Anet sent that item to anyone who purchased a rich dragon coffer from the trading post. There was a bug where it was not dropping at all, so Anet decided to be fair they would give them to everyone. It’s yours, use it and enjoy.

Not for support issues. You need to use the support system.
I wasn’t farming them very hard, but I probably opened 200-300 from drops, and managed 2 Risen Knights out of that. I bought 10 off the TP for no real reason other than I was there. First one of those had a ticket.
Well, when you guys make a top-selling MMO, you can put your own rules in place and let everyone verbally abuse everyone else. You’re not entitled to a platform to broadcast your profanity.
Furthermore, I don’t know why people always assume the offended party didn’t have their filter on. People misspell words all the time to get around chat filters, and it’s perfectly possible to be verbally abusive without using a single filtered word.
You might want to put your ticket number in the thread and request a review from Gaile, if that’s the case.
Funnily enough, I kept mine through the first bit of the investigation, but then when it came time to scan the suspects again it wouldn’t do anything. I had to go ask Marjory for another box in order to trigger the event. So I’m assuming if we need it again, they’ll offer us another one!

I think he’s saying that whether or not one reports something that benefits you says something about a person’s character. Like letting a cashier know he’s given you too much change or forgotten to scan an item.

The only downside to this is that once the NPCs die, they seem to disappear. So you basically have to treat them as limited resources.
Hm, my NPCs didn’t seem to disappear when they died. The ones alive were rezzing them as far as I could tell. Inspector Kiel dropped twice and at one point I’d lost all the Lionguards.

I understand I am no special person but this is a computer game and I should not be penalized $22 something when I got this game on sale for $20 actually… It really seems ignorant to have such a stern outlook on players when people of all ages play the game.
Wait wait wait … you got this game for less than the list price, there’s no monthly subscription fee, and you think they’re “money-hungry”? Do you think the staff are all robots that don’t need to eat or something?
The game has to be paid for somehow. You get a monthly fee or you get microtransactions. ANet made it possible for you to not pay anything to play the game unless you want certain extras. Frankly, it seems ignorant to me to assume you can get all this content for nearly nothing.
According to the first attachment, you were given the reason for the account being closed. The account was found to be violation of the users agreement. The account was found to have been involved with selling in-game items for cash, either actually selling the items or gathering the items for another to sell.
Since this action is against the users agreement, the account was closed. It had nothing to do with the donation.

I rather wonder what you think a normal, nonviolent meaning for “curbstomp” is – because no one buys that you just happened to put two random words together completely innocently. Edit: FWIW, I had the some questions when I was buying it. I ended up emailing support, and they told me to do exactly that.
I know what you’re talking about. I had the same problem and I posted about it in another long-since-buried thread.
The first time I bet, I did the mystery moa. There was no notification that I’d bet, but since it was my first time I didn’t know there should have been one. I lost that race, but several races later I bet on Motti – again, no notification but I thought maybe I only get it the first time I bet on a particular moa. Motti won. No prize. I won the race after that as well and got my prize.
When I started betting I’d checked my money because I only had maybe 4 gold on that character. So it was definitely taking my money every time.
I bought a digital deluxe edition for my sister. When I received the email with the access code, I forwarded the code to her. I believe Gaile has said that ANet considers the person who registers the account the owner. As long as you do NOTHING with the code besides forward it – do not create an account with it or register it – your friend should be fine
A lot of people had difficulty telling the “official” fireworks from player fireworks and the launchers. I was standing right under them in LA while it was happening, and people around me kept insisting it wasn’t the “real” fireworks. Could there be an event prompt or something in future, so that people aren’t frustrated?
