To kill a Healing Signet Warrior you need either Poison or more than one person supplying DPS. This is what makes Hambow Warriors so attractive in sPvP; you get a profession with a one-button AoE point-spanning fire field, constant high passive health regeneration, AoE stun ability, temporary condition immunity on demand, temporary direct damage immunity on demand, active CC immunity on demand, passive CC immunity triggered by initial application, Stability on demand and respectable damage output. Then you throw in a short-CD Condition Cleansing and Boon Application via Lyssa Runes and end up with the mess we have now.
Your rebuttal warriors?
1.) Any DPS oriented player can kill a Healing Signet warrior. Examples of this are DPS Guardians, Mesmers, Necromancers (and condition necromancers), Thiefs, and really good Engineers. Also an Elementalist but you need to be a pianist to play them effectively.
2.)Constant health regen. At the expense of blinds, spammable dodges, blinks/shadowsteps, Aegis, Protection, and pretty much every defensive ability in favor of damage.
3.) Condition immunity and damage immunity. At the expense of a 60 second cooldown when other professions can get complete immunity in one utility.
4.) Stability on demand. Warriors are at the forefront of the fight. Currently Warriors have 3 available stability sources, two of them are utilities. Traited stability comes from 30 into defense and is a liability to damage builds, therefore most warriors do not use it.
5.) Respectable damage output. I should hope so if they are planning on killing anyone.
6.) Short CD condition cleanse, and the usage of Lyssa Runes. I agree the combination of Cleansing Ire, Burst Mastery, and Berserkers Stance is a VERY strong way to spam your burst skills. But after that you can’t do any condition cleansing/mitigation. Lyssa Runes are not a problem of the Warriors, but of the game in general. Therefore I am confused as to why you bring it up.
7.) Spamming of AoE fire fields and stuns. If you are familiar with the Warrior profession then you would know that the only AoE fire field, and stun that warriors have are with the Hammer/Longbow build that many people despise currently. After the initial burst of adrenaline described in the previous point the ability to spam burst skills in impossible. Perhaps you are confusing Warriors with the Theifs class mechanic?
There is your rebuttal
Chill is a fairly rare condition to apply, and is therefore strong. The only exception is Elementalists but they have such a disadvantage at the moment compared to other classes that any nerf to them is unwarranted.
You don’t have a necro right? Spinal Shivers + Spectral Grasp + Dark Path + Chill of Death = 24s of chill. But still a class not even close to Thief, Mesmer and Warrior. Which btw none of them apply chill.
Immob is ok too, my previous P/D thief could stack 12s of immob, or reaply it 6 times (4 body shots + devourer venom). Now tell me how many thieves waste all their initiative doing it?
tl;dr: L2P
I apologize I forgot about Necromancers. And yes I do play a Necromancer but not lately.
I forget what do Necromancers do again? Conditions right? They have access to many conditions as well as manipulations of conditions on self and enemies. Why not Chill? Makes sense for them to have access to Chill right? Oh right you are comparing the fact that Chill is a strong condition with the fact that, in your opinion, Necromancers are weak right? Who said they were weak, you? From what you are saying, that is nothing really, I would think that you don’t have much actual input on any issues being brought up.
Thief, Warrior, and Mesmer all have access to Immobilize, with Mesmer and Warrior having access to stuns as well. But Chill not only slows an opponent down, but also slows down any skills on cooldown. In case you didn’t know.
Also plenty of thiefs will waste initiative on immobilize to keep their opponent in place while they deliver killing blows. “But why don’t you use a condition cleanse? L2P”
In case you didn’t know Thiefs can spam their skills thanks to their class mechanic. All a thief has to do is wait for an opponent to use their skills and kill them once all their utilities are on cooldown.
Also as a final point my necromancer actually specialized in applying Chill to maximize chance of hitting opponents at melee distance with small chance of retaliation.
So many likes to this thread…
Sorry to remember you that Warriors facerolled since release, GS Warriors were dominating early Pvp for almost 5-6 months.People complain because Warrior has a ridicle skillcap, it can literally faceroll whatever class with wathever build with wathever weapon set, deals too many damages, has too much passive survivability and has too much mobility.
When you fight an experienced Warrior you’re fighting for his errors, nothing else, because elseway you canno’t simply outplay it.
It’s simple as it seems. Imbalanced.PS: Stop acting so proudly because winning with a War means nothing, it’s Anet’s errors doing the job for you.
I respect your opinion. But I disagree. A warrior cannot “faceroll” anything with any weapon, armor, or traits. If you do not build to win you never WILL win.
For example. People claim that the Hammer/Longbow warrior is very strong and that it takes no skill. And they are wrong in some regards. Hammer/Longbow can be:
1.) Outplayed
2.) Is susceptible to punishment for errors made by the player
3.) Does take a modicum of skill. Not much mind you because of stuns, but still takes skill.
And honestly that’s it. Should the Warrior be toned down a bit? Of course, absolutely. But spreading misinformation and keeping a horridly biased opinion about ANYTHING will never help any situation.
I haven’t read any of the above posts besides OP so I will just give my opinion, sorry if what I say has already been said.
Chill is a fairly rare condition to apply, and is therefore strong. The only exception is Elementalists but they have such a disadvantage at the moment compared to other classes that any nerf to them is unwarranted.
Immobalize? Should not stack honestly it is ridiculous. If the condition were to overwrite the previous application of immobalize however….. It would be OK.
BUT!!! We would have to TEST this first before rashly implementing it.
Actually I kinda like the idea of combo fields being put on banners. Remove the banner finisher and keep it applied on the banner 5 skill so that you could see some play with moving banners.
Perhaps something like this.
Banner of Tactics = Water Field
Banner of Strength = Poison field (synergizes well with both power and condition builds)
Banner of Discipline = Lightning Field (because as of now only Elementalists have access to this field, I think other professions should get a shot at this one)
Banner of Defense = Light Field
Battle Standard = Fire Field (helps with might stacking so it is slightly less than Signet of Rage but still useful for individual use, as well as team play.
This is just off the top of my head though. I would love to see warriors get access to combo fields because I expect the nerf bat to swing hard.
Adding a new combo field to one skill simply will never be implemented. Perhaps this suggestion would be taken more seriously if you were to think of the field being applied to other classes, and situations other than a warrior with a hammer.
thats a video of a mesmer ?
that is a dif story . they r not as squishy as a thief . just spam conditions
at times had 14 stacks of bleeds with good crit damage still . even if u don’t have a lot of condition damage 14 stacks of bleed will go right through your toughness . thief just can’t run a hybrid damage build quite like a mesmer can.
and the thief must fight close. where the mesmer can do great damage while moving away from u to avoid the hammerand the mesmer has phase retreat on the staff. it may not be a stun breaker but u can still use it when knocked down ,
So you’re saying conditions can kill a warrior?
You mean…the thing that was supposed to counter them? Some classes can actually do that?
Also…did you see the mesmer us a staff?
I saw the mesmer use two stun breaks- basically being prepared for CC…
Did you know there is a food that reduces stuns?
And runes…
Ah a fellow lover of dots I see! …………………………..
Its a love hate relationship..
I don’t like DoT’s when I am playing my mesmer ( I hate them so much) and I especially hate them when playing on my warrior or ranger.
I love DoT’s when I am on my necro or engi ( all the DoT 0_0)
Its like numbers all over your screen gasm..Then I dont care for them on my ele or guardian ( I’m all like…you dude..chill with that I just heal them away)
So yea…different layers of feels for the DoT’s
I actually wasn’t referring to conditions. I was talking about excessive use of the period when indicating a pause between words. But take it however you want.
Well mace shield was always a good build but it got a lot easier to play since the previous buffs and very few people really played warrior before buffs that’s why you barely saw mace shield. If you do want to make a build with mace you need longbow regardless because cleansing ire with longbow is irreplaceable. Hopefully some longbow changes will be put in place so that it is not mandatory on every build because that’s the case right now.
No it’s not! I use many builds that don’t even use cleansing ire let alone longbow. I simply know how to dodge attacks.

You can’t just go to a server setup by the community and play on that server?
There is no monthly fee, you do not have to pay to play with your friends.
As stated above it is free to play. After all you are not paying cash monthly in order to play the game.
In PvE? Because bosses have defiant stacks, otherwise you could run a hammer. But since the CC is wasted on bosses it is a huge turnoff.
Because Taimi is awesome?
You can run pretty much anything and be successful on warrior just run a cancer condi build with mace/sword and longbow settlers amulet.
I prefer being creative rather than running well known builds. But that’s just my opinion!
and the immobilize is undodgable and too long . I think I would support a huge longbow nerf , so I won’t be forced to use it myself
. Dem bows are so OP !
The immobilize is undodgeable? Whatever.
It’s not , that’s why they are adding an animation . There’s no difference between pin down and lb autoattack .
That’s a total lie. For one, the bow auto attack is “DUAL SHOT” and fires TWO arrows. For another, Pin Down has a bunch of circles around the arrow. Combustive Shot was already needlessly nerfed because the balance team thought it gave adrenaline when it doesn’t. Next people are going to want to nerf Smoldering Arrow.
“Smoldering Arrows OP plz nerf ktty 2 much daamage unblockable hax.”
Yeah I get to show off my mace/mace longbow build!

I’ve been enjoying this build in tPvP for quite some time now.
This build provides adequate defense and group support with AoE fire field and blast from longbow, and single target lockdown on aggressive enemies. This build shines with team play as coordination with your team mates allows you to quickly pick out the most dangerous opponent and destroy that target.
This build has sustained DPS with burst coming from chaining multiple attacks across your weapon sets.
Have fun!
Agreed, which is better? The fast warrior that strikes quickly and leaves the opponent dead in a matter of seconds? Or a slow lumbering knight that can kill in one hit of his mighty broad sword…. if he hits at all.
Edit: I just wanted to say that people will be FAR less upset if they have to deal with poor design choices for a week or so, rather than MANY potentially poor design choices that will only be changed in months time.
I think what really stood out and seemed most interesting was the “Battle Axe” being available to Elementalists. All of your ideas were awesome but I find this one to be exceedingly interesting in that Elementalists don’t really have and two handed weapons aside from the staff. I for one would like to see them use a hulking weapon such as the battle axe.
You might be a warrior if… your technical skill with an ax consists of 2 weeks at a logging camp.
Op, this is not about thieves being controversial or being QQ.
This is about thief class design and it’s philosophy.
No other mmo’s or even guild war 1 had, has such outrageous design and outrageous philosophy of a Super Superior class being Op in all stats and having perma/un-encounterable stealth, whatsoever.
A class/profession who dictates, controls and resets fights in time.
A class who is immune/invulnerable to damage.
A class who sets rules and conditions of guild wars 2 class balance.
By the way…
There have been many, countless devoted thieves players, admitting and exposing thief design and its philosophy
Op,
we the community of non-thief classes should be the one tired, not thieves.
As the saying goes, “if you have never been hurt, why seek punishment for those who are in pain”?
Burn fall this is a serious post get outta here with your jokes xD
It’s really too bad though. The ability to chain together combos is deadly, and some thiefs do this. But when people just start using the same skill over and over with little variation people get angry, and the developers feel the need to do something. I used pistol whip before the nerf to stuns and I found spamming pistol whip to be incredibly rewarding for 0 skill ( I was just starting thief and I wanted to use a sword). And now adays even with the nerf to the stun I am getting attacked by thiefs using no combos aside from using all the shadow steps possible to close the distance created from any attempt to run, and spamming pistol whip, which further hinders movement.
I suppose there is really no good way to balance thief given the current initiative system, which is too bad as it is very innovative.
I agree they need a buff but I was simply pointing out that the three elites clearly have specified roles that could be applicable in different builds
I think the real problem is that thiefs get access to a mechanic no other class has access to, wants, and is quite deadly. No it’s not stealth but the ability to spam a certain skill with no CD.
Say what you want but that’s just my opinion
Thiefs are good in PvP, but can either be difficult to play properly or completely easy.
Necromancers are good in PvP currently because they have many AoE skills on their staff, which is highly effective in the only mode Conquest.
Warriors are generally good at everything but cannot masterfully do anything (Besides all of the wonderful CC). But they are getting a lot of hate right now so expect two things. People to complain and make snide comments on this post, and in-game if you play one.
Can’t be done fairly. It would lead to too many cries that you picked the wrong race/class combination and too many unfair advantages in PvP and WvW.
You would almost need to allow a race respect which would pose so many more problems with gear etc.
Wrong. Look at the human racial elites. Reaper of Grenth = condition builds. Hounds of Balthazar = Power. Avatar of Melandru = Support.
Why do you think it can’t be done fairly? What is the difference between races having different skills and professions having different skills? And if they all have skills that benefit different roles why would anyone complain?
Also those cries that people picked the wrong race would only come if the skills are OP. Which has been stated many times in this thread that it would NOT be OP.
If it can’t be done fairly, then just take out the skills because right now most are useless.
Edit: I posted the human racial elites because they would be fair for all classes to use, and would not be better, nor worse, than options that other races have in such departments.
power and crit damage is useless for complete condition builds. If you would like to make a hybrid it would be more useful. But otherwise no you can go for condition tougness and vitality. It’s one reason people don’t like condition builds.
I’m actually pretty happy with where race elites are now.
If you make race elites worth using over normal elites in anything other than a handful of niche encounters, then you run into a total balance nightmare where players are subject to being at an unfair disadvantage because of a race choice they made before they were able to understand the full range of implications.
You say that as if it is suggested that just because one race has them over another, the other race is at a disadvantage and the racial elites are ridiculously OP.
This would be true if done very poorly but what I, and others, were suggesting is for the racials to be made viable for everyday use. No one would be disadvantaged because these elites already have counters, and would simply be an actual contender with the elites of actual professions.
I’m just going to say that it IS true that thiefs don’t have very many viable builds, and taking/nerfing at this moment is NOT something that should be done.
But
Pistol whip IS ridiculous. After the unintended nerf to stuns in general pistol whip got hit a bit. Now instead of taking the entire brunt of the skill you took 3 hits at most.
Then Arena Net fixed the after cast so that thiefs weren’t vulnerable for completing a pistol whip. However now all I have seen in tPvP regarding pistol whip thiefs is utilizing the maximum amount of shadowsteps (3) and spamming pistol whip.
Let’s look at the skill.
1.) Does good damage even if you don’t hit the opponent with all your attacks, think of it as a spammable 100 blades as mentioned above that is quicker, and gives you invulnerability to attacks.
2.) As mentioned it can be spammed. The stun, while short, can halt an enemy for a brief second therefore sustaining either more damage from other enemies, or more damage from another pistol whip.
But what is REALLY wrong with this skill? The fact that it can be spammed of course. Imagine the thiefs pistol 4 skill “Headshot”. In it’s current form it is incredibly annoying to a player, and the only real use is to prevent a hard hitting attack, or someone from rezzing when they have no stability. Pistol whip is a more deadly and equally annoying version of such a skill.
Summary: While the skill is in my opinion overpowered. The Thief is simply too low on viable classes to warrant a nerf at this time. Perhaps in the furure, if the Thief receives buffs in the right areas that provides more viable builds, we could see a nerf being implemented.
When something is inherently weaker by design than other choices… Why would you take that weaker elite? racial elites DEFINATELY need a buff. All of them really. And while we are at it racial skills as well. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to use golems on my asura, or plant turrets on my sylvari, or even make a cleric/priest human that uses the prayer utilities. CMON Arenanet please! Give us some diversity because when people use the same builds to fight each other it’s simply no fun. I even bought the Heroic edition or whatever it’s called soley for the Mistfire wolf. And it really isn’t that great and it’s aweful.

The second edit was just me realizing my own mistake in saying that Mesmers could ever spam mantras. Because you know they have long cast times. But in my post I was reffering to the type of skill, not the effect those skills produce. Even if they are mostly the same.
Ugh your post is giving me a headache. As much as I dislike all the hate towards warriors what you have just posted is a mess.
You do know that SPAM isn’t just a type of horrible canned food but an actual word right?
The only thing being spammed is your use of the word “spam”
All of these classes have different mechanics, the only class that can spam anything is a thief and if they do they thief=dead.
Elementalist spamming skills? Again Ele=dead
Please revise your post.
Compared to a warrior almost anything can be labeled as spamming :P If you can reapply somthing over and over again with relatively short cool downs thats spamming. If you want to challenge that compare cool downs of mesmer invulnerability to anything that warrior has which technically warriors have no invulnerability skills. The only ones they have that are incorrectly called invuln skills are on 1 minute long timers.
So….. I can spam damage with my auto attack? Nerf please
Edit: But I do see your point, but saying that is like saying a Mesmer can spam Mantras, or a Guardian can spam Meditations. Its a subset type of skills for a class. Only the thief is an exception and that is because of class design as well.
Edit2: Saying a Mesmer can spam mantras is hilarious.
Pistol whip before the unintentional nerf to stuns could be considered over powered, as you could get all of the hits off unless your opponent had multiple stun breakers/stability.
But no it’s just pretty annoying now. The ability to spam any skill is annoying but thiefs can do it. And anyways thiefs are getting pretty close to Ranger status in terms of being non-viable in every aspect. So until different aspects of Thief are buffed I wouldn’t advise any more nerfs.
Wait are you talking about PvP in general or activities relating to players versus players that get introduced due to Living Story?
Because for sPvP there are TeamQ’s not just Solo. Therefore you have your team related PvP content already installed.
Ugh your post is giving me a headache. As much as I dislike all the hate towards warriors what you have just posted is a mess.

Yes……yeeeeeeesssssss…. focus your rage and direct it at Scarlet, for SHE destroyed Lions Arch.
TAKE BACK LIONS ARCH PEOPLE!
I like it but there are a few problems as I see it.
The main class description makes it out to be a hard to kill condition healer while being able to switch to an offensive condition applier.
But what if you don’t want to play condition?
As far as I can see it this new class would just deepen the condition meta. Perhaps revise the class and make it power friendly?
Also there are no dedicated healers, as stated by ArenaNet. Therefore if you would like the developers to take your suggestion seriously I would suggest you rethink that role of the class. And for heavies Guardians already dominate providing boons to a team.
Also for your elites, while the first is a very nice, balanced buff the others are very overpowered.
Demonic possession is a nice way to completely destroy a WvW zerg singlehandedly, but that is hardly balanced. Also coding something is difficult, and also unfair to the enemy player.
Martyrdom is perhaps a very nice elite but definately needs to be toned down. How about allies are only invulnerable to direct damage, and the player takes increased damage, as well as the skill having a timer on it. Perhaps 5 seconds? If that.
Sacrificial Punishment seems like it would work fairly well on paper, but would have to have that tested out.
Perhaps list possible skills? Also limit the availability of the weapon choices as it is simply too many. Perhaps take off hammer, pistol, and shield.
All in all it is a very unique idea and I would enjoy playing such a class.
Well this may just be me but I always keep a posative attitude on PvP.
I don’t really care about the outcome of the fight I just enjoy the fight itself.
That being said yes there have been lows for everyone in their opinions, but in my own opinion I haveenjoyed PvP immensely.
warriors were complete kitten.
and since they got buffed every other class want their free kills back… why ? beacuse kitten who ever love warrior.
This is simply a poor reasoning for why Warriors are not OP.
Now I do not agree that they are, but everyone else seems to think so.
Therefore instead of clinging to one reason keep an open mind and look at all information given to you.
Cleansing Ire becomes a problem when you combine it with burst mastery. ATM you can remove 3 condition with only 2 bars of adrenaline and easily have all your adrenaline back by the time your burst is off CD. So you get to burst more often, burst harder, and cleanse more than you should at the same time. It’s too strong a combination. Making it so that it removes 2 conditions instead of 3 since you are only using up 2 bars would probably be enough to make it balanced.
Dogged March is really only big problem in WvW when combined with for and -condition runes but then again there are plenty of other OP rune/food combos for every class and build in WvW. In PvP the fact fact that it grants regen combined with HS and adrenal health is a little too much, on of those healing methods should be toned down a bit.
I would not say Cleansing Ire is a problem for every weapon. A lot of the bust are single target and hard to hit with exception being hammer and long bow. They are aoe and harder to dodge. Specially the long bow as a long range attack with huge AOE range with little animation to indicate the attack. I would suggest Anet to adjust long bow specifically and not Cleansing Ire. This is what people complain about the warrior, its the hambow build right? Please specify a particular build and not the profession as a whole.
Well… What warrior build that is good doesn’t utilize the longbow, cleansing ire, and a healing signet, link me a build in this chat that doesn’t use those and is used in top tier play. Whenever you do find a build that is used in the upper tier of play effectively without those things listed above… I will praise you because that brings life back to warrior and may actually make it fun once again.
I usually use this build when playing in TeamQ to help support my allies
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vIAQNAS3Xj8cUGaVIudQHaAAzwrqsH+R9Yu7iD-TsAg0CnIOSdk7IzRyjsHN+YVw2CA
Gives CC to help keep the enemy team stunned.
Gives raw damage to prevent ressing of allies with dual axe auto and #5
Does great damage while not being completely squishy.
Does not use healing signet.
And I am sorry to say but not using Cleansing Ire is a completely stupid idea in this condition heavy meta. I have a few builds that do not use it but they are not viable for team play simply because they cannot clean conditions off, they are mostly my dueling builds because I can actively dodge condition inflicting skills.
You wanna know what is UP? The fact that the sword on warrior is a “Hybrid” weapon but only has one skill that affects it damage wise (10% crit chance on sword).
Omg he still has people arguing. Anything he is saying is null after he mentions hotjoins. I want to see him go into team or soloQ and see what happens to him.
1.) You don’t have a second weapon set.
2.) You have not put in any gear, therefore your end stats do not show.
3.) If you are purposefully keeping things our because you just made this character….. builds do not matter before level 80 anyways. 5 signet warriors are usually the best to level up with.
4.) If you want to remake your build and post it again I could provide actual feeedback.
If you hit someone with auto attack cleave your auto attack animation should continue. If you are using ranged, well, good luck with that. And AoE will hit them anyways so it doesn’t really matter.
How do you not stub your toe? It keeps happening to me!
