bleh.. zephyr whatever, queen gauntlet, and adventure box were my 3 least favorite installments.. all i remember is a bunch of tarps everywhere and strangers hawking their weird junk.. the pvp was good, but then again so was snowball mayhem and dragonball.. the rest just seemed like fluff, or chores and there was that gawd awful election.. i liked the queen’s balloons and champs but the pavilion was just.. i’mma use the word bleh again.. anyway, that’s just my opinion.. a lot of people liked it all, hopefully liadri isn’t a carrot on a stick this year.. no, i’m not bitter.. ok, i’m a little bitter but i defeated liadri, got the mini, it wasn’t even that hard.. but i feel bad for a lot of players, the way it was implemented.. mayyybbeee a hard/medium setting this year?? also, i hope liadri maybe has some dialogue or Some sort of lore added? and a gauntlet announcer mini/krewe leader mini would just make my day...

a few ideas based on what i’ve encountered in game that might perk my interests for a season 2…
i don’t care if zhaitan is my disgruntled neighbor, being more human-ish or showing better presents, oops i mean presence does not blatantly make it a better villain.. minions are bad enough, they really are.. arena net does need to organize even their high level zones so that they aren’t an ugly boring mob fest.. and also, zhaitan was easy to kill.. this is fine, why assault a beast if you can’t kill it? but was the conclusion satisfactory to the players? will we see some sort of reincarnation? i wouldn’t be totally against that
now, skipping directly past scarlet and keeping on the subject of elder dragons.. to be quite honest, i’m hoping mordremoth is dead already.. Dead, you heard me.. i’m not interested in more little shop of horrors poison spamming or whatever this dragon rising is supposed to captivate us with.. aside from lion’s arch, does it even have anything to do with mainland tyria, can’t queen jennah just build an extra door.
based on zhaitan being easy to kill, is it possible that there are inhabitants in western tyria capable of dampening an elder dragon awakening? will they need our help to finish mordremoth off? will they become aware of the grove and hate our sylvari? after what scarlet did, do We hate our sylvari.. in light of everything do we accept the pact for what it is worth? if we Fail to make allies in Western magguuma and strengthen our forces against further dragon encroachments, will the corruption seep in from every corner of tyria until we are left with nothing but our own graves?
anyway, i’m sure if they can fit in some new skills, crafting, terrain, and maybe even a playable race it will make many of the players happy.. and be much more productive than
legendary armor, unlockable runes, megalaurels!

i’m glad they aren’t doing anything particular and just letting people enjoy the game for once.. it’s what they should have done on its initial launch.. i can’t say i really enjoyed any releases during 2013 with the exception of dragon bash.. the last few releases of living world showed quite a bit of improvement in that i think arena net was finally on the same page as the players.. i don’t know where the mechanical aspects of the game are headed, but the recent feature pack was more of a spring cleaning release and nothing overly exciting that they shouldn’t have been capable of implementing earlier.. i’m really hoping to get some medium grade installments over the summer season to transition into the next chapter.. if we’re lucky, mordremoth will already be dead and the who where what and how of it will provide some new ‘expansion grade’ content =)

i’m really liking the disposition of the dungeon portion of this game on these servers, so that’s a plus.. oh, and bravo for not exploiting dungeon xp to level
gust simply needs to be cast at point blank range or on a non-moving target.. they even reworked it and sometimes it is buggy.. it’s good for repositioning npc
but for all its uses let’s look at something else, icy ground is a very overpowered snowball mayhem skill.. if modified correctly (900-1k range, 200 for a smaller cast area than some ground targeted skills, and an underpowered launch 200) and obviously this would be in air and not leave a field on the ground.. this would become a great defensive addition to staff, activating on the spellcasters location would be a prized interrupt against all those distance closing stun spammers…

the 3pnt traits {minor master tier} are offensive and defensive benefits for those who invested in certain traitlines
lingering elements (if paired with arcane fury) would provide a waxing and waning effect of attunements
elemental attunement seems like it would be a great intrinsic function, but it is boon based
with all that said, i will return to my self quote borrowed from this issue posted in another thread.. they all seem like a good idea, but i think it is obvious which one is most rational {and probably the easiest to adjust on arena net’s side of things}
to respond to Atherakhia, i do not think that elemental attunement is too powerful, but it is a crutch many elementalist players feel is a necessity.. and no one can blame them with the trainwreck elementalist has become

but i think moving lingering elements leftward would benefit a wide spectrum of elementalist builds and playstyles.. there is room to adjust the 1pnt {minor adepts} down the road.. elemental attunement is simply too boon specific and only geared toward so many playstyles and builds, a commendable idea but sadly it is not one that will revitalize elementalist for the long run..
of course, beggars can not be choosers.. it is ultimately arena net’s decision to humor Any of the above concerns

i’m hoping we get some sort of dragon bash over the summer, and a few medium installments up until the end of this year.. better storyline missions and content instead of the loreless ‘jump the shark’ faceroll we had with many of the season 1 releases..
i think one of the developers mentioned big content was planned for 2015.. i’m really hoping for an interesting storyline for season 2 that will transition this game into expansion content.. something like, we get to western tyria and there is already a conflict being waged between mordremoth and the inhabitants.. new allies to be made, new enemies..

it would be a good transitional update to have another dragons bash, some npc interaction and hints with what is going to happen to lion’s arch, there should be missions of having to go to and from the racial cities, they can put in dialogue of how some tyrians need the event and how others are reluctant with what happened from scarlet’s attacks, bring back the dragon forge, have ‘dizzy’ dragon helm moa racing..
then this game really would be farmville ._.
i don’t put them in my bank tabs, they go into the collectibles inventory, i used to have them in an invisible bag, but they finally fixed it so it doesn’t affect minis when you “deposit all collectibles.” a Dedicated mini bag would be nice though

i really want to be enthusiastic about this game, but after nearly two years with all things considered, i can’t bring myself to hold high expectations.. they might as well release guildwars3 or come up with an entirely new standard..

but elementalist is like putting pennies in a quarter machine and then wondering why it isn’t working..
all mmo are a grind, but it depends how and why you are grinding/farming..
every time i see a legendary i just say to myself, so what.. sometimes i wish there was more grind in this game, and by that i mean more depth filled content.. or goals to seek out that had some particular meaning.. this game is so pointless at times that they are now marrying their two shortcomings, legendaries and pvp tournaments..

so basically i’m running a staff with a sigil of energy.. some ascended gear, and i recently put on a healing sigil… i’m always using ice bow, have been for quite awhile.. i have to have air signet on and don’t see myself sacrificing runes for it so that’s a permanent it seems.. sometimes i’ll have lightning flash for mobility and fsword, or i’ll have glyph of sandstorm and sometimes mistfire wolf.. {wolf is good for raw Extra damage and sometimes it’ll be a fire storm if i’m stuck in that attunement}
30/30 earth water mage, i’m truly disappointed in the earth line… elemental shielding is garbage and should be added to earth’s embrace 0r they should make magnetic aura on staff Much better… geomancer’s freedom is useless and should be combined with rock solid.. but sometimes i will equip one of those just for the lawls
that leaves 10 {well 2 anymore} for arcana.. it’s really sad that arcane fury is arcana adept minor and not lingering elements and furthermore, they should just combine those too while they’re at it
finally, i’m mostly in ascended cleric gear, runes of tough on the armor.. vitality on the non-ascended trinkets.. i could always put in rune of fighter or something to boost power.. i also looked at exuberance but i didn’t find the toughness sacrifice appealing.. i think this build is in an “ok” place for not getting spammed to death, but.. in this game it just happens anyway.. it’s not going to win anything in pvp, in a nutshell i’d say elem staff is just lacking other than being a conjured weapon rain bot that other professions in this game could just as easily do without..

yeah, that’s the way it’s designed.. i’m fine with that, but they need to merge it with arcane fury.. it would mostly pick up the slack where earth and water traitlines are lacking..
i’d rather take a second job as a court stenographer than learn how to ‘effectively’ play elementalist.. the profession has been butchered into the most unoriginal playstyle and builds i have seen of any game in quite awhile…

korra was in the mists, it was a place she knew rather well. not always the same, there was literally mist around her. this was a soothing mist, placid and white. high above korra’s shallow breathing, there were lit celestial bodies. they would dim and sparkle like the rhythm of a song.. she could smell snow cherry blossom, but where was the tree? there was no land and time could not be kept here.. some of the mist condensed into water.. upon these subtle waves, korra had a notion that this was not a dream and she could feel the petals.. so many of them began to bleed.. such a satiated red, until there was darkness only
don’t forget the captains council, tengu, and the pact all did absolutely nothing “useful” while lion’s arch was being destroyed.. i wouldn’t mind seeing in game resentment toward them as well as sylvari.. i’m interested in where the storyline is willing to go from here and how involved the players, the races and the established lore of tyria will be involved, if it will be at all.. other than lore based imagination, i feel almost no remorse for lion’s arch being destroyed.. simply because for me there was nothing special about it, other than thousands of people supposedly living there who i never really interacted with.. so, i do feel ‘sad’ mostly on principle but not so much because of the living world of tyria.. not to sound rude, but many of the living world installments had a “what does that have to do with anything” ‘flavor of the week’ feeling to them.. anyway, this game has a lot of evolving to do and i hope it moves past the destruction of lion’s arch with some very interesting installments.

awhile back i crafted a dire exotic backpiece simply because there is no chance of picking up ghost eater’s hide if it even still drops in this game. i have another build which i’ve been working on for quite awhile and did not need an exotic backpiece up until recently, so of course i don’t have enough blade shards to craft one and the drop rate is horrible, not just from aetherblades but also from watchwork nodes.. in any case, i actually have enough gold to craft a regular ascended backpiece.. i don’t regularly do fractals but i went in and was fortunate enough to get the ingredient i needed right away..
that is an issue on its own and time gating some materials is understandable. my trouble actually begins with a previous ascended item i have had for awhile.. though i have been on this game since launch, i am currently at a very low amount of laurels.. again, i understand the fact that it is a so much at a time material and people should choose what they buy with it reasonably.. but the true problem is the infusion slot types. i completely understand choosing your infusions wisely, or saving up to purchase a geodulf.. having to buy not only a new infusion but an entirely new item for that infusion slot which could take laurels 20+ days to accumulate is absolutely absurd..
the previous poster had an issue with gold vs laurels, well i actually have gold and prefer the wvw infusions and will have to wait quite a long time before i even get to those seeing how i now, wanting to change an amulet infusion type, must repurchase that entire amulet over again using laurels..
you may want to sell a convenience item of being able to change the unfusion slot type in the gem store..
i’m probably in a worse boat than people grinding legendaries.. normally i wouldn’t complain, but using laurel math i have roughly a month now to mull this all over. . . .
very well spoken and reasonable opening post, completely valid for a customer to state their feelings of a much anticipated game patch.. i’m quite appalled at other peoples failed attempts to discredit that persons kindly stated opinion, but i am at my best times a mature individual who will simply disregard those.. i’ve read many criticisms in this thread which i find loosely based and do not agree with.. however, there have been many valid concerns for this game raised over time and stated plainly on this forum..
to address the thread title, i who am also a player of this game since 2 server tests and early start, i personally do not find the most recent patch to be anything ground breaking or even a prelude.. not just this, but the continual “sounds good on paper” changes the development of this game has embraced as apposed to relative updates that would move it forward leave me disappointed more than anything else.. {meaning there are many aspects of the game for some users to enjoy} but ultimately i could not in good conscience recommend this to people seeking a depth filled mmo, but rather only for people looking to occasionally kill time with a social network farming sim.

maybe i’m totally missing something, but i thought the world boss schedule was one of the few good things about the patch.. being that everything else was a nerf, poor balancing, or redundant interface changes that should have been implemented a year ago.. i like that i can ask another player on this game “hey, you wunna do that event at whatever time.” i always see reactions on this forum like " ay net you ran that event for 19 days straight >:\ why didn’t you run it for 20! i mrissed, mroawr." but seriously, maybe i missed something.. i hope they can keep the new format, but tweak the schedule.

The game has not been moving anywhere since release. Unfortunately I might have said it too often though, as nowadays I can only post once every 10 mins as a restriction to pointing out obvious flaws too often.
I would like to praise ANet with every post I can write every 10 mins, but with this patch? I do not know where to start, but praising is not part of it.
