no. this is a matchup you should win on meta power warrior. use signet of might & land stuns & f1. hell, you should be able to win without signet of might, but the signet lets you hard counter DH.
Not quite. There was a time when there were small tournaments of 8 teams (solo and premades all together). From those 8 remained 4, from 4 remained 2, from 2 remained 1. Rewards were bigger as your TEAM ranked higher. People had to learn because game was challenging, and you needed a team with voice chat to create and synergise combos.
Now everybody goes alone in soloq (because people requested it), spam whatever atack (because you just want to get it over with fast), try to win and always blame others, repeat the process with other games until you get your legendary and gold.
If you want some real cash, you can make a team, but it’s better to not communicate with all the newbies… and PvE between seasons is so awesome with all that new content, episodes and graphics… why struggle for PvP anyway?
I agree there used to be a golden age for GW2’s PvP. Now it’s simply in the dark ages with no sign on coming out.
The PvE in GW2 is fun. I guess it does make sense for ANet to foucs more on that, then WvW and PvP since PvE is also their only real money maker. More so now that PvP and WvW has completely failed.

OP. lots of fights should go a particular way in theory, but don’t. a lot of it comes down to skill/tactics, & these equal skill scenarios don’t actually come up very much.

Sigh,adren hp is FINE.Its now mostly because endure pain got switched to tier 2 so every warri is running with double endure pain,besides how it can stack now.You can play defensively with endure pain up and relying on your regen..But the regen on ITS OWN is not as strong as everyone is claiming.Please fight a warri without him using endure pain and having only his adren hp and tell me how strong it really is.
it’s a real pity that endure pain is the only viable trait for t2. swapping it with CI again would be kind of interesting actually.
Also not sure what’s wrong with players performing better in a team they can coordinate with. I mean, that’s kinda the point. It’s a team game. You’re supposed to coordinate with eachother to win.
And the best way to coordinate is in solo-duo, because you can type more than “Hi/Bye”.
Also, you can communicate real tacticts in chat, announce fields and blasts for combos, select target and provide multiple arguments why the selected player is the best target.
Also, you can grow together with your duo friend and make new friends along the way even if now they are in your team, and next match they are your enemies. Meeting others is a very productive way of entertainment.
Also, in solo-duo people can congratulate each other at the end of the game, and share ideas about the past game, what proved to be a perfect synergy, and what did not help so much as a team bond.
Also, after win, we can then add them to friends list, and discuss even elements from PvE because we can have many achievement points together.
In PvP, a person we just met, can become a partner for solo-duo in the next day, because we are a tight and friendly community playing in teams, together.
The Guild Wars 2 game allows us up to 5 guilds. We can join their PvP only guild, and they can join our PvP guild, so we can access multiple PvP chats; this way we can share even more information about PvP and make it more entertaining and more productive towards wins.
that feel when the whole team uses finishers in your water because you typed in the teamfight. that feel when you explore the depth of the game.

2k damage on Trueshot is a joke…vs classes running viper or other non toughness gear.
two thousand….non crit? A non crit isn’t suppose to hit ridiculously hard. A crit would have done almost 4k in Marauder, and this is against toughness. I’ve seen True Shots hit me for more than that when I run a vitality amulet on any profession. You may want to actually equip a power amulet and see how much damage it does with a crit. True Shot was nerfed because it did far too much damage for such a low CD, and it’s still too good. It just needs a longer CD (6-8 seconds is a good start) though and not a further damage reduction.

Apolo isnt worth it. remember, this is the guy who made the ‘All amulets need +500 armor AT LEAST’ thread because he was dying so fast. his advice is about as useful as my flatmate Winston’s, & he’s a Jamaican man in his 70s who doesn’t own a computer.
Team queue is primarily a tool to farm solos. That may not have always been the intent, but it is the practical reality.
As such, it really poisons the well in pvp.
By the way, PvP and PvE aren’t mutually exclusive. I really enjoy the rp and immersion of PvE. I also enjoy the challenge of PvP.
homes, im not advocating for a mixed queue. i’d like to see a queue for just 5man teams. no solo farm at all.
it solves the issue of team comps, bad teammates, afkers & should result in better communication & rotations. i’d like to hope that it would also reduce toxic behaviour as people will be less inclined to trash talk their actual teammates & blame them for all their losses.
the whole ‘nerf x class because it’s too strong when stacked’ is really problematic.
if you nerf a class around the assumption that they will be stacked you are going to destroy their solo performance, as these classes are not an issue when it’s just one of them. so nerfing them enough so that stacking them is bad is going to have a big impact on thir solo performances.
i’ve played matches with three druids abd they are absolute nightmares if the druids can play. getting a down is extremely hard, & stopping the res is even harder.
but nerfing druid sustain because it’s strong when stacked would make druid useless when it’s not stacked.
furthermore, the complaints are usually in the form of players complaining about being attacked by multiple players. you should die if 3 members of the enemy team focus you down. currently a single DH really shouldn’t kill you with just traps, but yes 3 DH will. that’s fine. that’s multiple utility skills from multiple players all hitting you, you should die.
a better solution is to remove, or at least limit class stacking.

They have like 2 people that work on pvp what do you expect. To maximize limited resources they threw out that stupid poll and went by it. Its not really complicated. They have super limited resources for the pvp side. Because of that once they get the ball rolling in a certain direction it takes forever for them to reverse course.
well, they have enough resources to make new gamemodes, new maps & revamp old ones. so i bet they have what it takes to add a 5man queue in offseason as a test. it’s just a matter of if they want to.

if you play condi warrior & you’re not absolutely incompetent (ie you can land stuns) the matchup is actually easy.
also complaining about 2k-3k crit when arc divider can hit for over 6k in AOE….

the result of the poll were mainly motivated by players being sick of a mixed queue (which i think is fair enough). we can see they would rather have a queue that is restricted to solo/duo over the mixed queue we had. however what the poll doesn’t show is that the population would be unable to sustain a team queue. the poll actually didn’t give us the option to vote for a separate solo/duo queue & a separate team queue. now, if that option was there this would be a useful statistic, but as it’s not this statistic is irrelevant.
people voting for solo/duo over a mixed queue does not indicate that the community does not want, & furthermore could not support a team queue.

If they follow on that and make team queue more rewarding, then everyone feels compelled to play team queue instead of solo queue.
better rewards for team queue is the way to do it. if they end up being as good as a pve group run, it even becomes compelling for people to do PvP instead of dungeons etc.
I doubt PvE people will ever want to do PvP and vice versa.
Competitive environments are not for everyone, and a large reason for playing PvE is story and RP immersion which pvp players don’t care for remotely.
There’s a reason PvP players came up with the “RP kitten ” term.
i don’t know. i know a ton of people who only run dungeons and fractals for the rewards. if PvP team queue had really good rewards I’m sure a lot of people would do it.
i mean, we already have people doing ranked who just want the rewards. its not hard to imagine a rewarding group queue becoming popular.
regardless, I’m all for anet trying team queue.aybe it will fail, maybe it will breathe new life into the game. I’d like to know.

I agree. I’m only still here because I like the combat and I’ve played enough to be good at the game. but I’m still playing other games more than I play gw2.

I’m not advocating for mixed queue. It’s lazy and uncompetitive, how pointless.
Tournaments could be good, but they would be a lot more trouble to organise and it would be an absolute nightmare to find a suitable time. Simply a team queue alongside a solo, or solo/duo queue is all I’m asking for. Having no team outlet for a team game is really bad for the health of a game.
Seriously, it’s like some sort of sick joke. Anet goes & designs a 5 v 5 team game based around objectives that requires teamwork. Then they remove teams.

Can you name any other competitive team games that forbid teams? Overwatch, LoL, DotA, Paragon, the list goes on- all of these games let people form teams & queue vs teams.
Anet, & some of the community have decided that the best way for a team game to be played is solo, or with one friend. Excellent idea. It’s just teammate, & teamcomp russian roulette now. Roll that dice & hope you don’t get tripple thief, or an afker, or a guardian using signet of courage. Then come to the forum & get told you need to carry in a team game.
A team game that forbids teams & real teamwork is an utter joke. What’s the point to it?
Guess what makes it even funnier? Oh, it’s that nearly all of the PvE content in this game requires a 5 man team, & the playerbase has no issue getting into teams for that. Which is no surprise really, considering we have an LFG tool & uh… the game is called GUILD Wars. So it seems pretty dumb that in a game called GUILD Wars (which has guild teams i might add) in a gamemode designed around two teams fighting over objectives, you can’t play as a team.

I’m betting it would take a week for them to introduce a 5v5 queue with no class stacking. I doubt that it’s that hard at all. Hey, & off-season is the perfect time to test to see if the playerbase can fill the queue.
But will they? I’m not so sure. I’d like to hope the complaints about teammates and class stacking would give them some indication that this game doesn’t work all that well in a purely solo/duo environment.
Also, they are the only game studio forbidding teams in a team game. Surely they must be able to see this is counterintuitive.

sure a lot of people say that team queue can’t work, but look at all the people complaining about comps and teammates. there’s an absolute ton of them. if they all teamed up we’d have a healthy population.
i know i’d be able to field a team, and i just moved my account to EU so 99% of my contact list is on NA. so if i can do it, how hard can it be?
this game shines in 5v5 with actual comps and communication. solo/duo is actually not that great of an experience, kitten many people will leap to tell you.
adding team queue would be good for the health of the pvp scene. i’m sure we’d see much more, and better tournament participation if people had teams they played with regularly.

nobody needs to compete w gw2, the devs are killing the competitive scene themselves.
if all it takes is one persons anecdotal evidence (with claims of numerical evidence, & no actual data shown lol) to get you patting yourself on the back you’re pretty basic. i’ve had the opposite experience from the OP in smite, although i do think Paragon is a better game so i’d rather play that. also, lol at gw2 being ‘masterfully crafted’, just look at how many useless skills there are in the game. take a look at revenant’s centaur legend, what the heck is that? certainly not ‘masterfully crafted’.
sure gw2 has it’s good points, but honestly to claim its the be all & end all of pvp games is an utter joke.
as far as the money comments go, wow jealous much? are you really bashing esports players for leaving a game because the esports scene is not supported? they basically have no choice at this point. moving to a game with regular balance patches & a flourishing esports scene seems like a complete no brainier for an esports team.

I cannot speak for smite but Paragon is sick! Paragon is the best game I have played that is cross platform between PC and PS4. Back to the issue though, it’s sad to see Denial leave, this game only benefited from their presence. They brought more awareness to the game through twitch and youtube videos. Paragon is deeply underrated, & the devs are great.
People, the warriors numbers are high because they are running berzerker amulet, power runes, and signet of might gives power. Its literally the max power you can run in the game minus the strength line. If they did not hit hard, it would be poor game design.
The old AH was bad. You can’t base all the traits around using burst and then put survival trait around conserving burst.
The new AH shines in teamfight because arc divider is bound to hit something. In 1v1, it is much easier to dodge bursts. You can dodge them…
Berzerker stance has 20% uptime. only 20%, and resistance can be ripped. The warrior is far from condi immune. And if you have a class that has blinds, leverage them appropriately.
Defy pain and endure pain have a 12.5% uptime. and the warrior can still take condi ticks and lifesteal. Lifesteal from revs still does a lot of damage. 8 seconds of power damage immunity every 60 seconds.When you fight a warrior you just burst them to 50% wait a little and then burst them after the auto proc for the other half. If you try to out sustain a warrior, you will probably have trouble. Warriors die to bursts more frequently than sustain.

i actually play hammer mace/shield w vipers and distracting strikes a lot (it’s the main warrior build i’m playing atm). the build is pretty strong, but hammer is very easy to evade. faster animations would go a long way in making the build actually viable.

Druid has SoW for unblockable. Engi has blast gyro (which was used in helseth’s tournament) amongst other skills. Warrior has SoM. Rev has phase traversal as well as traits.
all of those will counter DH’s high blocks & give you enough of an upperhand to win.
ele is poor example, because it runs a team support build that is not good at killing in 1v1. it should however, be able to sustain to the degree that your team should be able to kill the DH (magnetic aura, swirling winds, obsidian etc). sure that’s not a win in the traditional sense, but honestly what can you expect a support build to beat in 1v1?

i feel you on the stacking issue, game should not allow more than 2 of one class per team (i would love to say 1 of each, but i feel queue times would suffer heavily). still though, getting bursted buy multiple DH traps is a case of being focused by multiple players w AOE attacks. being bursted by 2 condi warriors w skullgrinder spam is punishing too.
tbh, i think solving class stacking would solve a lot of the DH complaints. it’s much more preferable to nerfing DH around the presumption it will be stacked, because to do so a single DH would become pathetic.
now, i remember the days of warrior being an unplayable waste of a slot. i’d hate for that to happen to any class, especially because of forum complaints.

no video is needed. just use unblockables to kill the DH when they use SoC, they will be low & vulnerable, so something like headbutt > AD will ruin them.
if that’s too hard for you to grasp i suggest you look at yourself in the mirror & have fun w the hand of your choice.

it’s unsurprising they complain, because thief & mesmer have poor match ups v DH.
DH is easy to fight on any other class, & is miserably easy on Warrior, Rev, Scrapper, Druid etc. Anything w projectile hate, unblockable moves & strong sustain should straight up roll DH if the player is even halfway competent.

I’m having a bug with the Primal Burst on mace too, for some reason, it does the same damage as an axe while also inflicting conditions and being able to block and stun with it’s other utilities.

Matchmaking has been an improvement; I personally prefer duo-Q over the full on premade curb stomping blowout matches that happened prior.
All solo-Q except for 1-2 games. Highest I got to was low platinum (which is surprising since 300+ aussie ping is awful in pvp/wvw) … now I’m forever stuck in T3 gold. I’ll get 3-4 wins away from platinum again but RNGesus will ALWAYS pit me up against impossible odds and it’s hard to control what/where your team mates go. Lose streak happens, rinse, repeat haha.
same here minus the reaching platinum part. I’m always stuck around 2-3 games away from platinum, or down to 1560 tanking a lose streak. it doesn’t seem to matter how you perform, how many people you can fight in 1vx, how much ‘top stats’ you earn, etc.

i can’t fathom how people can blame all their losses on teamates, yet take credit for all the wins. as if matchmaking is only bad when you lose. honestly, it just speaks of a monstrous ego.
like, seriously. how can you say that it’s unfair your rating suffers when you lose because it’s a team game. yet, not realise the same argument applies to your wins also.
people expecting MMR for a 5v5 game to function like MMR for a 1v1 game need to sit down & have a good think, because it’s just foolish to expect this.

the thing is, while you might think you’re playing perfect games you might actually be throwing matches w out even knowing it.
regardless, getting really salty is just going to make you tilted. so, sit there frothing at the mouth at your computer chair with your blood pressure rising if thats how you want to spend your time, but don’t expect a congratulatory remark.

I’m wondering how people actually practice for a tournament or just to get better as a team if there isn’t any team supported feature. isnt this supposed to be a game based around coordinated teams? what would a solo q only landscape look like?
a lot of the teams, in EU at least scrim in private arenas (5v5) & practice duels.
My friend i have 4 accounts : 1 my wife’s , 1 my son and 1 for fun.
Older post of mine u can see that i was from the 1sts that manage to champion all classes on my main account.
I also manage to have 4 diamond accounts.
I also i manage to be in legendary div.
I believe call me bad player is not correct.

Was platinum at 1750, dropped to Gold 3 later, and in 1 day dropped to Gold 1, here’s what’s going on around 1500 right now:
- 3 Necros on team trying to do dailies in ranked, even though other team is obviously anti-necro. We lost.
- 1 Necro going for lord straight away. Why? We lost.
- 1 Thief barging into the team fight and instantly dying every time, never decapping. We lost.
- 1 person going AFK straight away at 120-100 score because he “wasn’t rezzed and team is noob”. We lost.
- 1 person rage quitting, even though we had a nice comeback which turned out to be 500-482, lost rating still even with DC.
- People who didn’t know engies can moa.
- People who admitted to playing PvP only a handful of times just for PvE rewards.
- Much more behavior that should NOT be reflective of gold 3 or higher. kitten this matchmaking. Wake up, Evan.Rant over.
Why is everyone complaining about the teammates they get? You all voted and this is what you guys wanted. Apparently the majority of players wanted Anet to pick their teammates for them because it was too hard to do on their own. You guys wanted a system where a player could be complete garbage that nobody wants on their team, and Anet would force others to take that player on their team.
Stop complaining about this to Anet and blaming them, this is the pvp community’s fault. Your votes (or lack of votes) made this possible. Expecting a competitive pvp scene in a 5v5 team game mode on an mmo where everyone is limited to solo/duo queue is laughable. If you don’t like it, get together in a single thread and advocate for 5v5 only Team Queue. If you don’t want Team Queue, then stop complaining simply because you got what you asked for and enjoy your casual pvp scene.

just play like a baller & rock peoples socks off.
being rewarded for high team stat is innane tho. if you climbed this way i would literally just run around the map killing players. ive had multiple games with well over 20kills so i’d just make max kills my goal every game. because whats the point of winning of top stats is all that matters?

ah, perhaps i was being somewhat facetious. you do say that wins are not a measure of skill, & do think it’s important to get top stats.
newsflash, top stats when you lose are nothing to be proud of. it doesn’t matter if you got top damage if you lost. because obviously your high damage wasn’t very helpful to the team, because well… you lost.
thats the point im making. top stats when you lose should not be rewarded, as getting a high stat & losing is not indicative of good gameplay.

regardless, thief is not a good class to carry on. sure, it can be done if you are very good, but it’s still a poor choice.
this is because it is bad in teamfights. thief uses mobility to decap & try & secure a rotational advantage. this is good if your team is competent & can win fights without you. sadly this is often not the case. playing something that can carry fights & ensure teamfight wins is extremely valuable, & i would argue the best way to carry. necro + ele duo queue is perhaps one of the best carry queues you can do.
currently it looks like your winrate is around 50/50 which seems to indicate you’re placed appropriately skill wise. sure, it seems hard to win because “my team is bad & they lose fights”. so i’d suggest being in those fights, often at mid & making sure you win them. a teamwipe in the opening midfight is a great way to snowball & gain advantage. queueing with a duo comp can help a ton too, so that might be something you want to think about.

my number one recommendation is going to be to break the habit of skill clicking. this will improve the fluidity of your gameplay dramatically.
also, i would run moa over gravity well. it’s perhaps the most impactful skill in the game, taking it is pretty much a no brainier.
as many sensible posters have said, rewards are needed to have a healthy population.
average/scrub players are important too, you know so they have other scrubs to play against.
the main issue is afking for loot. so the simple solution is to radically reduce the loot for a loss. so they are heavily incentivised to win games. easy.
