The taking of a scepter/torch staff with ie change alters the pu build. Torch for condition clear is lost along with condition duration. The myth that all this can function in a build is what is making people rage.
Wondering how 0 4 4 2 4 staff scepter/pistol for more bleeds and debilitating disposition to punish clone deaths.
Everyone is raging over scepter with a pu build. The same build can be achieved using staff with ie change. Since helseth has given this the stamp of approval no one is upset at the constant burn up time along with bleeds. Now imagine running a scepter/torch with staff and ie fix. The update will have peoples heads exploding.
So finally the truth. The buff to scepter is a bridge leading to the real reason for the tears. Secretly nerfing a niche build for wvw.
I am amazed on how pu even enters pvp. The use of any stealth decaps the node. A pu mes is worthless in that game mode hence the previous posts yet you still believe pu mesmer is a pvp build. It only functions in wvw allowing the mesmer to veil his/ her zerg, solo roam.
So true. Before the brief glimpse of what was happening we had pages and pages of we need buffs we need help here and there. The moment comes and all we can picture is a scepter in a niche build as the fifth rider of the apocalypse. Death famine war conquest and the pu mesmer.
What about a 0 4 0 4 6 scepter/pistol staff condition shatter for pvp. Careful use of shattering and the new scepter buff might be enough to maintain conditions during off shatters with ie on staff clones?
God mode for a very small niche. Roaming in wvw or by default veil portal duty. We have no solid options for aoe tagging so by surviving we are tagging = bagging. Pu does not have a place in pvp. So because mesmers roam with pu this is a problem. The problem is also any other roamer then.
That is the problem. You are meeting pu in wvw. This is a build that by surviving the mesmer gains bags due to tagging just by staying alive. Pu is nothing in pvp. Why rage over wvw?? Unless I’m missing something this lets mesmer solo roam taking of camps or defending. Towers and keeps are off limits. The mesmer again veils and portal rushes. We have no aoe. So the camplaints about pu receiving a buff in wvw are silly. Just maybe the design is to bring shatter condition mesmer into pvp since we all know invis decaps points so why cry over a change not yet in game. Not yet used or even played. It is funny how many devs are in this community.

We can only judge what is functioning not what is said. The hysteria over this change from a quick image and some words is funny. I hope the testers did their job and see something we do not. Maybe they want condition shatter for pvp, pu is useless in that game mode so the buff to one build to try and bring others up might be a side effect. But what we don’t see, can’t play, doesn’t make much sense to vent over.
Summoning what?? Scepter clones are the worst clones on the field. The scepter needed help. Running a main hand weapon and turning the auto attack off tells you something about this weapon. Now whether torment was correct will be seen, but the scepter needed some love.
Just a correction the scepter is far from a clone factory. The animation, the speed of the bolt make this a really poor way to create illusions. IMO let the changes happen then adjust. Way to much theory crafting on something not implemented yet. The next y2k only in gw2.
If by truck you meant a hot wheel then yes. Mesmer hit like a toy truck. Our damage is tied to our phantasms. We have no sprint speed unless using runes. The invis is a target drop. If you are invis you are not doing damage. Take that time to kill our phantasm means 0 damage done.
I have been using travelers for a long time, getting bored with them wondering if the loss of speed Is worth the stats gained.

What runes are people using for roaming in wvw. My build switches from shatter to pu using all weapons. Want a basic idea of what the forum thinks is viable. Thanks
That build is for solo roaming of havoc groups. Try running that in a Zerg. Try dps objects in wvw. It is a one trick pony. Sure log in roam solo and feel strong just don’t play the rest of the game. Funny this is an mmo not a platform system. Mesmer is the only glass taken from a solo platform game transferred over with portal and veil; a sad attempt to make mesmer a team player.
Welcome back. The community is jaded sometimes due to some bugs that have been known yet unfixed for years, more than likely any problems you remember are still there. Back on topic anything with 6 in chaos for prismatic understanding. Running 4 4 6 now sword/pistol scepter/torch came from 0 6 6 2 0 greatsword sword/pistol all power. Basically solo roam using pu. Shatter can be made to work if pocket guard roams with ya. Have fun
Hello, the only advice I can give is be wary using staff solo roaming with pu. The point of pu is to gain helpful boons and use the extra time to reposition to be effective. I have always had bad luck since bouncing staff orbs seem to pull me from stealth. I run gs/sword pistol solo roaming 0 6 6 2 0 works very well and plenty of disengages. Travelers runes all power 3 cav trinkets.
On a side not wvw is not a 1v1 platform make an arena to do that so it produces what ur looking for.
For roaming pu is fine. All the grief comes from condition thieves, warriors that regen and use weapon skills to disengage the list goes on and on. Plenty of cheese builds in wvw by all classes; and why cheese anyways? The cheese callers are the ones upset at way pointing. Not saying use pu for spvp or pve but for roaming it is a strong option if not the strongest option. Sure counter with shatter but sadly in this meta of wvw all other builds are inferior. (Roaming Zerg stand point). For zerging helps you stay alive we have few options for bag tagging so staying alive by default offers more bags.

I have been using 0 6 6 2 0 with fury pistol and de in dueling line along with menders purity. The condition removal is the same as the torch but you have a stronger phantasm in the duelist. All power gear. Sitting at 2k power 62 crit chance and 220 crit damage. The utilities are decoy blink and veil. The veil utility can change to whatever is needed. The ibeserker cripples and the loss of cripple on clone death is really minor IMO.
Hello. Been having success with a small change from blackdevils 2 4 6 2 0 build. Just moving the 2 from Dom into dueling line 0 6 6 2 0 creates higher crit/damage. Haven’t done the math but seems better more spike damage. Wvw use.

One fact hasn’t really been added. Whether or not this bug fix is or was needed, what it has done is make our class mechanic not function properly. If said mesmer uses I leap while having 2 phantasm up then dodge rolls to avoid damage what happens to the skill? It goes on cooldown and we are punished for avoiding damage and using the proper skill. The conflict created is the biggest problem now.
Still confused. No traits in the illusion line for ip. This is a phantasm build yet the description is a shatter build.
First time using this, have played for a year. Have ranger necro and 2 mesmers. (Son plays one). I personally find the discussion insulting. A passive play style is materializing. A nerf to confusion in wvw and now let’s nerf another play style. Why attack a mesmer with his hand up? Why kill clones? The taking of camps I say foul. Those guards throw bolas and blind both bad for the mesmer. Just defend with npcs problem solved. If you are upset because you didn’t finish the said mesmer a retreat is a win. Protected camp. Move on. Roam with another. Not like a pu mesmer takes towers alone.
