This is something that has never made sense to me in any game I’ve played. Loot tends to follow a very simple pattern: the harder the fight, the better the loot. I think everyone would agree that pvp is more challenging than anything pve has to offer, yet pvp is always the least rewarding way to play. What is the idea behind the toughest gameplay being less rewarding?
I’m sure someone will say you’re supposed to pvp for the fun and you shouldn’t need a reward. Well, ok, I do that. But why are pvpers expected to play for fun and nothing else when pve’ers expect, and are given, all the rewards they could ever want.
I really would like for spvp to have some better rewards. Why can’t we get gold to buy stuff in the shop? There’s at least a handful of things we could use. Why don’t we have legendaries to work towards? Why does it take weeks or even months to get access to skins that you can get in a few days of pve?
I’m just kind of fed up with essentially being punished for playing games in the most challenging way possible. GW2 was supposed to be different, but it’s just the SSDG.
You can craft dyes in the PvP mystic forge. I craft about 10 dyes whenever I log on by using all the glory I earned during the last play session. I can craft lots of dyes by converting orbs to crystals and crystals to slivers.
You must have some pretty epic play sessions if you get enough mats for 10 dyes at a go.
There’s a running joke in the guild that no one’s allowed to die in wvw because if they do it’ll get screenshotted or recorded and posted on the forums.
I could pick apart the video, but what’s the point? You know how to set up a 5v5 with OG, but you won’t. You know exactly what will happen, just like every other guild that has posted a questionable video then flatly refused to have a real fight.
Ehmry Bay. Vsing them was the most fun I’ve had in wvw, and I’ve enjoyed it less and less since they went down and we went up. These days I’m pretty much a dedicated tpvper because, even though I prefer roaming, without the level of competition that EB brought, it’s just not fun. If Maguuma ended up getting matched up against them again, I’d actually go back to wvw.
To clarify, there are plenty of full and near full servers, but for whatever reason, the join now button puts you in the lowest population servers it can find. Completely bass ackwards, but if you do it manually you’ll get plenty of good games.
Stop using the join now button and manually select a server from the list. Join now is an absolutely awfully done feature which should have been disabled or fixed six months ago.

I don’t think the focus 5 actually strips boons. I used to think it did too because the char planner said it did, but the in game description doesn’t say it.
I wouldn’t call this a straight up buff. It’s a tradeoff. There’s more versatility, but the old functionality of the skill is no longer there, I’m really not sure yet if it’s better, worse, or just different. Trying not to pass judgement too quickly.
You want to know what kind of freedom the new skill gives us? Well I won’t be pulling myself into HB or guardian bubbles that were started after I cast MG anymore, that’s for sure.
I’m still not decided on whether or not I think the change is good because it’s no longer possible to do the MG-EQ combo, but there are some upsides to it as well. Also found out the delay makes this skill useless as an escape tool which is kind of disappointing. That saved my life a lot of times.
Because of the new Temple tournaments, there are very few guild groups doing frees tonight. I’ve been duo queuing with a friend who’s newish to the game, and it’s been great. Pretty much every team we run into is another similarly ranked pug. There are some guildies here and there, very occasionally a full guild group, but mostly it’s just pugs having relatively close matches.
This kind of tpvp should always be available, not just on special occasions.
You keep making these dramatic posts but no one has any idea what you are talking about because nothing about our mobility skills has changed except for magnetic grasp.
Badges of honor are funny. When you need them, you don’t have anywhere near enough. When you don’t need them, you end up with way more than you could ever spend.
I’ve been using it in pvp pretty much nonstop and I’m really not sure. On one hand, I love the options it gives instead of making you just run right in, but on the other hand, if what you want is the old functionality, it seems like the time it takes to go through all the animations takes longer before you can actually cast something else. So not sure if it’s good or bad.
First off, no one is trolling. Just because ‘troll’ has diluted down to the point where it means almost anything, does not mean it’s the right word for any situation where someone posts something you don’t like.
As for the why, well I haven’t been posting much as I haven’t been wvwing much, but it’s probably because this always happens. Any time we end up facing a new server, the “top” guilds on the server(s) talk crap, post vids of killing OG members with greater numbers, and try to say they’re equally skilled, yet refuse to do a 5v5 and never demonstrate any skill when found alone.
If you want to hide behind “we’re a wvw guild we don’t care if we can win vs. equal numbers!” then that’s fine. No one’s talking to the other zerg guilds on your server. But if you are going to sit there and say you’re really skilled and post videos of killing OG, then you have to expect you’re going to get replies.
Saying running in larger groups doesn’t change anything is just dumb. When one person’s response to getting killed by larger numbers is getting more people, and another person’s response is getting more skill, it’s pretty obvious who is going to end up better.
OG has been venturing into tpvp recently due to how bad the wvw has been for so long. It’s not the playstyle any of us really want to do, but it’s still fun because it’s finally a challenge. In tpvp, there are actually guilds that can beat us. I’ve been finding it harder and harder to go back into wvw even now that the numbers have died down enough that I’m not hardcore lagging. Pvp is just more fun when you’re doing fights where you may actually lose.
[OG] and a few individuals obviously have a different definition to most for “roaming groups” and “zergs” it seems. I have to keep checking to see if I’m in the sPvP section of the forums or not.. Keep up the intensity, everyone.
Uh no, I’m pretty sure we’re using the words the same way they’ve always been used. The only ones using them differently are the people who are running in zergs but trying to act like that’s not what they’re doing.
I like how zerglings are trying so hard to get away from the term these days. “Running six groups doesn’t count as zerging because we use voice chat! It’s all skill, we swear!”
My guild has been doing frees and is wanting to venture into paids, but we’re sitting here in a queue and it’s not popping. What time of day/night do paids pop somewhat more frequently?
It’s to filter out bad people. Maybe you’ve never played free tournaments, but usually I end up facing a team of rank 1s 90% of the time.
I have NEVER paid for tickets and I have more than I will ever need sitting in my bank just from dailies and crafting.
Really? Interesting. I’ve been doing a fair amount of frees lately and generally only the first round has low ranked pugs. Occasionally the second, and almost never the third. Instead, I’ve found us constantly going up against rank 35-50+ guilds and pugs made up from the best paid teams.
So what are the odds of Mag dropping down soon? This wvw is literally unplayable for me. Aside from hating the playstyle, there’s such a kitten amount of people everywhere that I’m lagging hardcore no matter where I am.
I hope the mods appreciate Maguuma. If not for our server, Anet could cut their staff in half. We keep the roofs over their heads and food on their tables. You’re welcome moderators.
Just throwing it out there to add fuel to the fire – FA was a pioneer of roaming 5 mans and most of you D/D ele guys got your build from Excala (daphoenix) in [GODS]
Every d/d ele in OG has been running the spec since before daphoenix posted his guide.
What concerns me about this week more than the size of the zergs is the complete lack of posts from roamers on FA/DB. Roaming guilds basically always have at least a couple people who like to post on forums, and yet nothing. This most likely means that there are no roaming guilds on those two servers, and probably few if any solo roamers either. In other words, another week with nothing to do but wipe zergs, which got boring years ago. I don’t like the spvp format, but I find it harder and harder to do this kind of wvw after playing tpvp and actually fighting good groups.
If there are any skilled guilds on either of these two servers, or even just individuals, please, let me know. I much prefer wvw, but I need good fights to have fun.
Something to think about. If mag continues as it is we will probably start looking around again.

That’s the problem with the way things are set up. You don’t want a small man server, you want the server that is matched against the small man server. That’s why I actually consider Yak’s Bend a potential transfer server if Mag doesn’t drop. I hate the server, but if I transferred there, I’d have all the other servers’ roamers all to myself.
I could’ve swore just a week ago I saw Maguuma, DB and Kaineng holding their heads high and saying “we’ll make it into T1 or T2”, while DB hasn’t waned, Maguuma seem to just bounced back like a rubber band o.o. That’s how it seems in the forums at least.
It’s not like you guys are losing as bad as SBI right now.
I don’t think any of the original Maguuma people want to get to T1 or T2. I think most of us even want to lose here and drop back to t4. You people can keep your zergs to yourselves.
So far this is a pretty terrible matchup. I really hope this is just opening day behavior and it’s not like this the entire week.

Sums it up. I have yet to see a single person that wasn’t at a structure or running to one. Massive zergs everywhere. This guild GODS is running like 50 deep in their main zerg and everywhere I go there’s more of them around. Just looking like another week where the only action is going to be killing zergs. Boring kitten.
Well, since it looks like it’ll be FA and DB, who are the roaming guilds on those servers? We’d like some good 5v5 fights this week!
I really, really hope FA has some roaming guilds. Last time we fought DB they had zip, but FA might be different. I’ve been stuck in tpvp all week because it was the only place to get a good fight. Would like to get back to wvw.
Literally any class can do extremely well in hotjoins. If you are wanting to grind glory, you’ll get a lot more return out of playing something you enjoy and don’t get bored with, even if it doesn’t get quite as many points per game.
So much complaining about not owning stuff. If you own everything, you have to run a very long way to find anything to fight. If you don’t own anything, they walk right up to your spawn to let you kill them. I can’t wait to be outnumbered and losing hard again.
he max run speed in this game is capped at 33% out of combat which my elementalist is at all the time. If a player can noticeably out run me that player has to be hacking and I report everybody.

I don’t know about all this community stuff, but I’ll say I enjoyed fighting EB more than any other server. Some of the best players I’ve encountered, including tons of people always up for a good fight. You guys may not be Maguuma good, but you’re close.
Haha, had a YB zerg minutes ago bring their entire army up to The Godsword to take out some OG.
Its one thing to chase us off. You guys hunted us down lol. I tactically retreated from Godsword into the skritt cave still with 15+ people following me. Ridiculous YB

I’m new to the necro but I’m looking to start playing one in tpvp. I had what I figured was a decent build worked out, but then it turns out corrupt boon is massively buggy and I don’t want to use it.
Could anyone give me a decent conditionmancer tpvp build that I could use as a starting point to figure out what works for me? Thanks.
AoN hasn’t been on Mag in weeks, and, as someone who was actually in AoN, you are overestimating the degree which they care about objectives.
They were in the middle of the biggest contested spot on the map, within two big zergs, so maybe they just like fighting huge battles, but it at least had the effect of being very strategically beneficial for their server at the time to prevent that spot being capped.
You might be surprised how much those of us who don’t care about objectives do for the server we’re on.
