Least boring: Ele
Most boring: WarriorI’d actually like to play my warrior – especially when I play one of the other more complex classes and take about 3 times longer to actually kill things compared to a warrior that uses 2 skills and kills way faster then say an Elementalist who swaps Attunements 6 times in the process – being somewhat of a min/maxer it hurts my brain to play a class that is more complex and slower then the simple mindless hack&slash of a warrior. But the warrior is just soooo boring…
Basically it reeks of simply dismal class- and/or game design. By making this big thing of not wanting a decent and well-tested class system (trinity based classes) in their game they now have a totally broken and even more restrictive and unappealing class system. What’s the point if every class can do everything when in reality they all suck completely compared to the DPS-output and farming capability of the simplest of all classes?
Complexity should be rewarded, not punished… again… really wonderful game design right there.
lol nice post but don’t write that on in the warrior section, you’ll get told to stop lying and bunch of warriors will justify their class is very complex and requires lots of skill
Not exactly. It’s just that warrior doesn’t have much else going for it. Take away our damage and what do we have left? High health and extremely lackluster support skills. Woo.
I agree that warrior is not exactly the most involved class to play but if they take away our damage they’re going to have to rework the entire class from the ground up.
Let’s hope the one you get from the birthday gift (Scroll of Experience) actually gives experience and doesn’t just jump you to a fixed level.
Yeah, while the scroll of experience we got from the AP chests is useful I was mildly disappointed it didn’t give 20 levels worth of exp at any level instead of just 20 levels of exp for a level 1 character.
In before you only get loot from killing any champ anywhere once a day.
Seems like players didn’t learn from the first time it was changed barely 2 weeks ago.
And people on this forum honestly wonder why events are continually nerfed into worthlessness.
It will just be nerfed again and again. Farmers cause their own problems.
I want another protest. I missed the last one.
I did as well.
Indeed. The thing is: His thread is older and yet no dev bothered dropping a comment. This lack of care makes me sad.
Probably didn’t get a dev response because it’s in the race forums. Probably one of the least viewed forums here. And for charr, too. So it’s the least of the least.
They’ve outright said it’s not worth their time to make stuff for charr so I doubt any thing will ever be fixed.
When did they say that?
There was an article a few weeks back with Colin Johanson and they asked about charr horns and manes being cut off and armor designed with those things in mind.
The reply was basically what I said “it’s not worth or time to make stuff that only few people will use”.
Which is funny because then they say how they’re disappointed with charr being the least popular race.

Hi all, was wondering how do you get the Xunlai Agent in the Hall of Monuments? Had to buy a new Guild Wars game due to loss of activation codes. Anyway, I have the Hall, but can’t get into the Xunlai box. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated.
Thanks
I don’t think there is a way? At least I’ve never heard about that. It’s just a remnant.
I guess I’m just weird.
Most fun – warrior/guardian/necro
Least fun – everything else
P.S. I don’t like greatsword on the warrior.

Excellent posts. I agree with the OP completely.
Do you continue holding the orb after you attempt to throw it? The orbs despawn very commonly if you leave it to long so it’s very possible it’s despawning in the moment you try to throw it.
Otherwise it might just be a lag issue. I’ve not seen any other complaints about this though that weren’t to do with the intended despawning.
So it despawns after like 3 or 4 seconds is what you’re saying? I’ve never held onto one longer than that.
It’s random. When you talk to the balloon guys you’ll get one of three things. Kill some aetherblades, fight a champion, or escort an emissary.
RNG is fun right? To make it even more fun when you actually do get a champion event they champion is random as well. Good luck finding one you haven’t fought already when you’re 4/5.
For what it’s worth by the time I found 30 balloons for the other achievement I’d found all the champions I needed.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Except for when you use the orb on her and it doesn’t actually work.
Coupled with the extremely likely scenario that when anet tested the fight they didn’t do it with a zerg of 100+ people just below it which drastically kills fps and adds the wonderful culling feature to some of the bombs. Also giving you some fantastic input lag.
Yeah, extremely well designed. QA doing a bang up job.
If the orb isn’t working on her, it’s probably because it expired because you took too long. If you’re taking that long to throw an orb at her, you likely won’t beat the time limit anyway. I believe they can also despawn if a mob walks over another pool of light spawning a new crystal.
And the FPS/zerg thing is again just due to poor arena placement which is little to do with the fight itself.
No, I’m talking about when I put the green circle over her, push the 1 button, and nothing happens. Probably due to all the reasons I talked about above.
You don’t read, do you? There’s a huge difference there. While those modes have their problems, they aren’t cheap one hit kill gimmicky invulnerability nearly all the time like Liadri.
If I said, “the entire Queen’s Gauntlet needs to be thrown away”, then your comparison to WvW and PvP might work. But it doesn’t, because I specified that particular boss, and gave reasons why.
I guess asking for more garbage bosses like that would be self-centered too, eh?
I read just fine. You want to remove a single boss and two Achievements which are praised and enjoyed by the community. The reason? You don’t enjoy it. And it’s optional. Don’t try to sugar-coat your agenda.
The fight is not perfect as it has various bugs and issues. To say it is “designed poorly” is wrong though and insulting, and shows a lack of understanding and appreciation of the boss’ actual design. Almost every element is not random.
Praised by the community? So you’ve asked most of the people who play the game their thoughts on it then? That’s an amazing achievement. Maybe worth about 100 points.
Lets be honest here, when you say “praised by the community” you mean praised by you and maybe 2 or 3 of your friends.
All the people I’ve talked to about it disliked it. So who is wrong and who is right, I wonder?
More lies. 1 hit kills, gimmicky invulnerability, time limits, not good design.
It’s disrespectful to dismiss somebody’s referenced opinion as lies with no explanation as to why.
1 hit kills if you get hit by a predictable AoE or slow moving bombs, both relatively easy to dodge. If you’re getting 1 hit it’s because YOU, the player, made a mistake.
Invulnerability until you hit her three times with an item that fits neatly in to the fight mechanics.
Time limit could maybe be extended a little, fair point.
Also Yujin, if they make a boss that you can kill with multiple different builds and ways, it’s going to be incredibly easy to beat that boss. Their intent was to make a challenge. Liadra required you to balance DPS with survival and mobility like no other fight before it had.
“Well designed” are the last words a person should use to describe the Liadri fight, or rather, the entire Queens Gauntlet.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
My problem with Liadri isn’t actualy the fight with Liadri.
It’s the design of the pavilion.
It’s rude players trampling over your corpse after you fail an attempt at her because they’re in a hurry to beat everyone else to an empty arena.
It’s having to waypoint back to the center and then having to run my kitten back up to the arenas.
It’s having the failing fights resulting in broken armor.
It’s having to pay teleport fees.
It’s the fact that the entire piece of content is time limited and won’t be coming back for quite a while.
It’s that I can’t take a break from it for a day, or a week, or a month and give it another try. I have to get it done by a certain date or I’ll miss out on it maybe forever.
I’m confident I can beat her fairly easily but all of the above is what kills the queens gauntlet for me. Not the actual fight.
What players want is content that is just difficult enough that they can complete but others cant, so they can wear it as a trophy around their neck and brag about it. That kind of behavior should not be encouraged, at least not here.
Why not?
Honestly, these are the only “achievements,” or “titles,” worth anything in a game.
That said, LFM Arah P1. Liadri Mini players only.
The Liadri fight isn’t actually hard though. It’s more tedious and persistence is what gets most people to finish it than anything having to do with skill.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Well as a gamer who enjoys being severely punished for failure I welcome this content. Even if they removed all the rewards and just provided goofy titles I would still do it.
In a game where 99.9% of the content is made for players like yourselves; it feels nice to know that Arenanet acknowledges my presence and designs a little something for players like me.
If you tell me to go play another game and that GW2 is not for me; well you can go do the following… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBXdTdaeSr0
Let me ask you this. If the punishments hadn’t been in place from the start would you still feel the same way? Would you be on here posting that you’re not punished enough for failing?
I honestly doubt it. You wouldn’t think for a second that you needed to be punished for failing.
And removing the punishments that are described in the first two posts doesn’t in any way negate the challenge of the actual fights (except for the camera, if you want to think that’s part of the challenge).
There’s absolutely no reason why it needs to be as punishing as it is. Having to run back from the center after a death is just tedious. And no one, not even you, thinks that’s fun or compelling game play. All the while you know you’re running back because the 15 other people up there are in to much of a hurry to get to an empty arena to take 10 seconds to revive you.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
Excellent post(s). Sadly I think we’re stuck with things as they are now. They haven’t really tried to fix things other than bugs and make a few nerfs in between live story releases.
Do people realize you don’t even need to do it?
There “are” people who enjoy it. Let them have their fun.
If you are not having fun, don’t do it. I don’t enjoy wvw and jumping puzzle too, I didn’t ask Anet to remove that from the game.
If Anet want a real suggestion, make an easy mode. To appease to the more casual player. Keep the hard mode since there are obviously people who enjoy it by the feedback.
Following that same line of logic we don’t even need to play the game at all. Saying you don’t need to do something in a game because it’s optional is stupid because playing the game to begin with is optional.
I don’t play games to be frustrated. I play games for fun and to escape from stress. Not to be more stressed.
The original post is excellent and 100% right.
I don’t mean it that way. You dont’ have to enjoy “every single” content in GW2. As long as there are other content you enjoy.
Not every content is designed for everyone. There are other people who may enjoy the content beside of you.
Granted. But it’s a dangerous path anet walks if they keep making stuff that they intend for a very small portion of the player base to play. Or rather, to complete.
I’m all for challenging and hard if it’s permanent content that I can work at at my leisure. I can get frustrated at it and come back in a day, a week, or a month.
But not with this. If I don’t push my self to get it done within the next week then it’s not coming back. Ever. That’s punishing the majority of the player base to appease a very few people and all that’s going to do is push people away from the game
And they can’t afford to do that with 2 big name mmo’s coming out within the next 6-8 months.
To clarify, I don’t have a problem with how hard Liadri is. What I have a problem with is how punishing losing is and the fact that it’s time limited.
If there were more convenient way points next to the arenas then that would cut down most of the problems I have with it the gauntlet.
There are of course other issues, such as the camera issue and my character is a maxed size charr so that doesn’t help any either. But this is minor compared to having to run my kitten back up to the arena after a failed attempt because people are in to much of a hurry to revive because gotta get in line first!!1!1

The original post is excellent and 100% right.
Paying to retrait costs like 3 silver. Suck it up.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQJARSjcOFv9OKPMxBEkCNkLMP+BgoIOKUCmA-e
Made this up in about 30 seconds. Run primarily with Knights gear and splash in some Zerkers gear. You should be able to get your crit up to around 80-90% with fury, and Zerk gear will give you about 50% crit damage bonus. The toughness from Knights will help you facetank PvE better. Against bosses, swap your hammer for rifle.
I was told the trait costs increase with each use. I thought it kicked up to over a gold eventually?
No, the price to retrait doesn’t go up at all once you get to 80.
I used axe/shield/longbow with stomp. Shield stun him and cripple him with your axe whenever you can and swap to your long bow as well whenever you get the chance to cc even more.
Once you get 2 or 3 meat stacks you probably have enough damage to kill him quickly.
I’m pretty sure my trait set up was something weird like 30/10/30/0/0.
I used berserkers might instead of berserkers power to help get more eviscerates in and shield mastery with missile deflection. Also rending strikes.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
I will probably be giving up on it at Liadri too. Not because the boss is too difficult. But because people aren’t considerate enough to revive you after you die. I’m certain I can kill the boss given enough tries. What I get tired of is inconsiderate players trampling over my corpse in a hurry to get into an empty arena.
Why do we need to die? Or why isn’t there a way point in front of every arena? Anything to make it even 1% less tedious than it is.
Thank you so much for this post..
I don’t know what became of this community, it wasn’t like this in Guild Wars 1.
Now, as soon as a content is too hard people come in the forums and complain.
I’m so happy that they put harder content that actually requires some skills to complete. Nothing in this game requires any skills except maybe very high level fractals and high end PvP.
This game has so much appeal to the casual players. That’s where the majority of the crowd is so I understand this and I respect this. But why can’t some players understand there’s need for some harder content to keep us playing too?
Instead they blame the game for bad mechanics and ask for nerfs.
People are complaining because there are items locked in those achievements that won’t ever be coming back. And to collectors (especially mini pets) that’s hard to swallow.
So they complain that things are too hard. I’m all for permanent content that isn’t for a limited time being hard as they want to make it but when you only have a certain amount of time to get something done it starts to turn people off of the game when they start missing things from their collection.
The key here is permanent vs. time limited. When it’s permanent you can work at it some and maybe fail a bunch then take some take off, a few days, or week, or month, come back to it and try again. You can’t really do that with this living story stuff.
..is the design of the pavilion.
So far people can’t seem to be bothered with reviving even though they trample over your corpse in their hurry to get to an arena that isn’t occupied. Or they’re just standing in line waiting for their turn.
Failing a fight with cheap 1 shot mechanics isn’t so much of a problem if I can get right back into it.
But no, instead 9 times out of 10 I have to run my kitten back up the stupid ramps to get back in line just so I can have another chance at failing.
Frustrating is the word I would use to describe this. Annoying is another.
Sign me up for that. Disappointing that they had to copy the Fellblade to begin with. Even more disappointing that they made the smoke effect way better on it.
Agreed. But the button at the bottom of the inventory window seems really out of place, too.
abbadon fractal wouldve been crap. Ellen ftw.
With the ability to look into the future you should play the lottery.
i dont think the weapons are different size when your holding them..
maby it looks like that from different angle, but you can clearly see a different size of weapon when your weapons are at your side.. at that point your main hand (left from behind) is like 30% smaller compared to off-hand
I remain skeptical.
Maybe I’m just all paranoid now but my weapons in the off hand look smaller compared to weapons in the main hand.
I think I can see that it looks smaller, but than at the same time it’s hard to tell. Whatever the case, this bug needs to be fixed. It’s very visually jarring.
In the picture below the axe in the off hand looks smaller than the axe in the main hand. But the pictures with the mace they look similar in size. Could just be funny angles, though? It looks to be about 10% smaller.
finally more people acknowledge it on a Charr :-)
even see another post now: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Weapons-Resizing
That other thread is mine. I’ll add my post here as well. I hope we can get some attention to this and get this bug fixed as it’s extremely jarring and ugly. Even worse than the clipping issues charr have.
Okay. I wasn’t aware of that thread I did a search but I guess I didn’t search for the right thing.
People are reporting that it happens on humans too so I guess this bug affects every race.
I mostly only play with bow/mace/shield on my warrior so I never noticed the offhand weapon.
I think this bug is fairly recently introduced. I’m almost certain it never used to be like this.
Finally one more thing: if you already have this achievement, get off this thread. ANET fixing it for the rest of us affects you in no way.
How about no. This isn’t “post only if you agree with the OP” forum. It’s the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum. Meaning we can post in any thread we want to. You know, to discuss stuff?
Besides that if you want to report a bug this isn’t the section to do it in.
I got that achievement in 1 try.
Go do it right now. This isn’t head start weekend. We have gw2stuff.com and the API now. Everyone swarms these events, everyone tries to blow up crystals since achievement points are worth something.
People like you upset me. You think because you did it 5 months ago everyone should be able to. But you can’t, things change:
1) gw2stuff.com
2) achievement point huntingMeans it’s now basically impossible for most people, including me. Don’t be judgement of others and instead use an open mind.
The achievement didn’t exist during the head start weekend. When I did it there was 50+ people there for the event all of whom were trying to do the same thing I was doing. Breaking crystals. Maybe not as many people as would show up today but still a lot to compete with.
I wasn’t trying to gloat I just wasn’t aware it was a thing that that particular achievement was hard to get and people are claiming it’s impossible when it’s clearly not.
And where in my extensively long post of “I got that achievement in 1 try” was I judging anyone? I’d be really curious to know.
FWIW when I did it I was basically standing right under his front feet and so was every one else.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
It’s been like that since the betas. Reported numerous times. Sadly.
In the july post from Colin I’m fairly certain he said fractals will be getting revamped along with dungeons. Though I don’t know if that was gonna take place at the same time or not. It will probably be an on going thing.
i have it… by accident
imposible = giant slayer 1000 kills
Do the giants in Orr count? Because if they do I might be REALLY close.
No, the giants in Orr are considered Risen. Pretty much everything in Orr is risen except for the slimes and maybe 1 or 2 other things.
Yeah it’s severely disappointing. You can count the armor sets that look good on charr on 1 hand.
Worst part is Anet has acknowledged the issue and said it’s not worth their time to fix.
I got that achievement in 1 try.
I’m not sure if they are supposed to do this, but I don’t think so. My character is a max size charr and when the weapons are stowed they shrink in size. When I jump or when I’m using them they return to regular size.
It’s extremely odd and I don’t like it so I hope it’s a bug. The fact that they return to regular size when I jump leads me to believe that it is.
It seems like it’s just the mace that is resizing in the picture. Not the shield.
The one in southeast Southsun is probably the easiest in the game. Literally takes 10 seconds.
There might be things that they affect years from now as they say. But right now all we have to go on is what they’ve told is. And that is the unique fractal.
And it’s not like we’ll ever know, years from now what would have been different unless they tell us if we had chosen Kiel over Gnash or vice versa. So again, all we have to go on is the guaranteed things they’ve told us.
If it’s between RNG and time gated. I’ll take time gated. At least with time gated I know that in 5 days I will be able to get what I want. With RNG if your luck isn’t in you may never get what you’re after.
They’ve said in the past it’s extremely unlikely that there will be a race change option.
They already had the Jormag sword in-game. Don’t know why people find it surprising.
Because I have noticed nobody cares until someone makes a thread on the forums. Like you said they reskinned the flame sword and made it blue. Also I barely see anybody using HoM ( I do) but i barely see anybody do.
I think arenanet realize that the a good chunk of the gw1 players are gone so why bother.
Err no. The Jormag sword is not a reskin of the Fiery Dragon Sword. There were actually two similar items in GW1. The Fiery Dragon sword and the Icy Dragon Sword.
The Jormag sword would be the equivalent of the Icy Dragon Sword.
They already had the Jormag sword in-game. Don’t know why people find it surprising.
Jormag sword isn’t from the HoM though.
Everlasting Ogden Tonic.
Yes. About time! It only took them a year to get around to it.
I sure hope that watchwork tech isn’t going to go berserk…. probably will :/
I sure hope that the materials to make watchwork items isn’t time-gated. But that’s a discussion for another thread.
I sure hope the watchwork items aren’t hidden in extreme RNG. I’ll take time gated over that any day of the week.
At least then you’ll know you can get an item in a few days. With RNG you may never get it.
