I didn’t spend a single copper (besides npc reagents) raising my weapon smithing from 400 to 500. In fact I made around 20g doing it.

Collect the materials yourself and it won’t be all that hard to do.

The problem with ascended gear isn’t the time gating or that they’re maybe 3% stronger. It’s that people think they need to have them 2 weeks ago. Just be patient and you’ll save yourself a lot of stress and money.

That’s odd. How have I managed to do every jumping puzzle in the game then? Since they can’t jump and all.

2 playable builds on engi really?

Yet another missed opportunity: Engis should have been the one profession capable of gathering up some rocks and vines and bamboo and using it all to craft a weapon on the spot capable of one-shotting a kitten krait witch. But no. They’re alchemists with guns.

So basically the McGuyvers’ of Tyria?

living story development team – 100 programmers
bug fixing development team – 1 intern

Have you thought that maybe it’s harder to fix bus when you actually have to go into the code itself, as opposed to creating content using tools, where little to no programming is needed?

Just gonna start off by saying that doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense.

And secondly, even if what you say is somehow true, which it’s not. Why does it make difference how long or hard something is to fix? If there is a problem it should be fixed. Simple as that.

Anet has acknowledged the problem. They’ve admitted they don’t care to fix it. Which is just pure money grubbing laziness.

To be honest they should be completely embarrassed with that attitude and I agree with the person up above. If they aren’t going to fix the issues they should give everyone who has a charr a race change option and remove charr from the game as a playable race.

And I love my charr warrior, he’s got 90% of my play time. I feel sorry for the people who want Tengu to be the next playable race. They’re only asking to be disappointed.

ETA on New Legendaries 2013?

Really really do not think they’ll create legendary armour anytime soon.

They’ve all but confirmed that some form of legendary trinket will be released before 2014, though.

As for new legendary weapons…yeah, when it’s ready.

Well there is this quote..

“On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013.”

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/

So new legendary weapons are definitely coming in 2013 unless Anet wants to make a big kitten of themselves.

My guess is that we’ll get 1 new legendary weapon of each weapon type. Except for great swords. There will probably be 4 new legendary great swords.

Different Developement Teams.

Different. Developement. Teams.

Be that as it may Anet reps (even Colin himself) have flat out said it’s not worth their time to fix all numerous issues with charr and their armor and weapons.

As far as I know the main hand weapon resizing is a new issue in the last 2 or so months. Either that or I just was completely oblivious to it for the past year which I don’t think I was.

Also other people started noticing it around the same time as me (see my sig).

I hope we can get these topics more attention so there’s a better chance to get at least maybe a few of the issues fixed.

Again, it’s a portion of the playerbase that has decided that the game is unplayable without the absolute BiS gear. The rest of us are out there playing the game in mix-n-match armor. Funny thing is that we’re doing just fine.

I wonder if the new and improved Tequatl is an attempt to remedy that situation.

Yep. Any tweaks to old content, or even new content, will be tuned such that if you don’t have ascended level gear, you’ll wish you did.

These forums seem to be filled with people who can’t do math and keep parroting the same arguments that have already been proven false. The entire 1% of any population in any mmo that plays the game not for RP but for the enjoyment without the carrot can do that, that’s not what people are saying at all. and yes it is 10% more. It’s been proven time and time again. It’s even been stated in interviews as an estimate of how much higher these stats are on this gear. It’s also been seen in other titles how much better these kinds of power creeps make the combat for those who are well geared. Before the huge jumps in LOTRO, the smallest increase made a huge difference. And in STO the smallest % makes a very large difference in defense and damage. It’s there people whether you like it or not. When you’re dealing with Facts (us) vs “truth” (them) facts rule out every time.

OP has a great point and I think it needs serious consideration because testing these things obviously aren’t going to happen, that’s how it’s been time and time again it seems.

Have you looked at the stats? It’s not 10%.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Zojja%27s_Reaver
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Molten_Axe

3% increase in two stats (crit damage remains the same) and 5% in weapon damage. Those figures are both rounded up.

Regardless of the increase there isn’t a single piece of content in the game besides (ironically) high level fractals that require ascended equipment. And it’s not needed for the stats but for the agony resistance.

Exotics are still more than enough to be competitive in any area of the game and if people feel like they need ascended to be competitive then that’s on them when the simple fact is that they are not needed if you don’t do fractals.

It requires marginally more effort to obtain ascended weapons, I’ll give you that. But you know what? In the process they’ve made almost every area of the game rewarding as far as getting one made goes.

Crafting materials are worth more and people are out playing the game and for the most part seem to be enjoying it. This update has done more to get people out into the open world than all the previous updates in the last year combined. And from all reports wvw has more people going into it as well.

Those things are all facts. And how is any of that bad?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Joining a party gives more drops only because the amount of damage you have do in order to tag a mob is shared with your party.

More tags = more drops.

Unless some one has some hard proof saying otherwise I don’t buy it.

Yeah because people aren’t already complaining about extra tiers of armor. You want to add not 1, not 2, but 3 extra tiers outside of what we now have?

lol

Reading comprehension, dummy. Only one tier is anything we don’t already have (the last tier just really being different shades of Legendary) and even that tier I’d be more than happy to get rid of if Anet hadn’t already gone ahead and made Ascended statistically better than exotic.

I mean geez, if we could have this structure with the Fabled tier I suggested just taken out entirely, and have Ascended and Legendary stats nerfed back to be equal with exotic, that’d be even better! But the codes and recipes are all in now, and the same idiots who supposedly buy into this whole “Ascended gear is only 5% better!” nonsense would probably still have a heart attack once they got the news that their oh-so-precious gear that they “totally didn’t grind for” got nerfed. So this is the more realistic approach.

I assure you. No one seriously complaining about the addition of Ascended tier would have a problem with what I’m suggesting. If you actually read the post and stop trying to troll with misleading oversimplifications (“Lolol if 1 new tier is bad, more is doubleplusbad!”), you’d see how this is meant to directly address their issue.

I don’t see how I misread what you said. How does creating more stuff to grind fix any issues when people are already complaining about the grind?

How are you not getting this?

The only thing I added was one tier which is essentially identical to what Ascended is right now, only it’s EASIER to obtain! Then I reworked the following tiers so that those who do obtain them are better rewarded for having done so – in the form of NOT having to grind additional versions of those items for different builds and characters.

The system I’m suggesting is a huge reduction in the grind, and lets players who don’t want to grind at all get off the treadmill far earlier than they have the option to right now.

So the end result would be the same as it is now? With more steps in the middle? I’m still not sure how that’s supposed to be better.

It’s not like it’s all that hard to make an ascended weapon now. If you try even a little bit you’ll have enough stuff to make one within a week or two.

Though this update was in the works for 3 months approximately before the Jubilee and Clockwork content went live. So it’s hard to tell.

However, the Claw of Jormag event champions don’t drop loot, so it they adopted that philosophy then there’d be no distraction to the event.

They said during the live stream specifically that the champion/mobs that spawn during the new tequatl event will not drop loot.

Because legendaries were upgraded to ascended level, and with weapons kits and conjured weapons (ie Lighhtning Hammer) not scaling to ascended damage but exotic, he is losing damage in the sense that yes it still does the same amount of damage as before but it shouldn’t, it should be scaling to the damage of his equiped weapon (so ascended damage). At least that’s what I understood.

Yeah but in no way is he losing something. Losing implies something is taken away. But nothing is. It’s staying the same as it was and has been for the last year.

Though I do agree that it should scale to the weapon you have equiped. But he’s using the word “losing” to make it seem like anet is trying to slight him in some way and that’s simply not the case.

They aren’t doing it to intentionally sabotage people who have ascended or legendary weapons.

WvW: Season 1 vs PvE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: fellyn.5083

fellyn.5083

I actually think the worse part about the “seasons” is the meta achievement. Following ANet’s track record it’s going to be “cap x camps” “cap x towers” and “cap x keeps” “kill x people” etc..

Why is this an issue?

Most Achievement hunting PvErs will hit the “WvW Scene” early to get these points and since they are all “cap this” no one is going to worry about defending and the first match-up becomes a week long Karma Train so that everybody gets their reward chest at the end. Not to mention, what I assume will be back to 5-6 hours queues in T1, could destroy some servers. Every server can queue a map when everyone is trying to get these Achievements, I’m betting now that even AR/FC and other T7-8 servers will have full map zergs of people who’ve never set foot in WvW before.

If you aren’t on JQ, SOR, or BG then a PvE’ers wont make a lick of difference in WvW or the leagues….

Couldn’t be farther from the truth. Those PvErs are going to be looking for any decent guild out there to leech captures and get their Meta done. Lots of guilds run without tags and actively tell ‘Pugs’ to leave them alone because they rally other people. Happens now, will happen when this comes out.

And then wonder why over time less and less people are present in world vs world.

“But guys, we were doing so well last month! What happened?!”

Awesome lore, awesome philosophy,

“centuries ago one nation of humans took our lands, lets hold the current generation responsible for what happened hundreds of years ago and slaughter every human nation!”

Great philosophy and lore right there.

You’re aware that the humans took the land from the charr in the first place right?

Centuries ago yes, you can’t blame the current generation (or the gw1 generation) for what happened such a long time ago. Most lands/nations in the real world once belonged to someone else, that doesn’t mean we can just throw the current inhabitants out.

So? Doesn’t change the fact that in Guild Wars lore that’s what happened. I’m not sure why comparisons to reality matter.

Although I too wish they explained things more, I disagree with the other point you’re making.

Why should Eles and Engies get ascended level damage for free, when all other classes have to get an ascended weapon to do that damage? I thought people wanted Anet to make Engie’s weapons more desirable so they weren’t forced to use packs. Your idea would increase the imbalance.

I have a Meteorlogicus on my ele. Why should I lose 5% damage on my Lightning Hammer because someone else doesn’t have a legendary?

I could say the same thing if I had a legendary on my engineer, but that’d just be stupid because I just wear the hobo sack 90% of the time.

Engineer weapons are simply not designed to be strong and their balance patch from June shows that they still don’t have a clue. For example, they changed Scope in the tools traitline to gain 10% crit chance when further than 600 range. You think it’d be good on a rifle, but its near useless. All the rifle skills except for net shot (0 damage) and the auto attack (which is weak) are melee range. The irony is that scope is near useless with rifle and only really works with…. grenades.

For the sake of repetition..how are losing something if nothing is changed?

At worst it’s the same as it was before ascended.

Frustrated with the Lack of Communication

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: fellyn.5083

fellyn.5083

I’ll start this off by saying I main an engineer and my elementalist is my main alt.

A week ago Friday, I made a post on these forums after the announcement of ascended weapons. I made the post with concerns about kit and conjured weapon damage not scaling with ascended weapons and pleaded that they should. Fast forward to Tuesday, patch rolls around and the damage was upgraded.

Then the following night, ANET puts out a patch that removed the ascended weapon bonus. I’m incredibly frustrated for 2 reasons. Having a Meteorlogicus on my Ele, I lost a huge chunk of damage during my LH burst. I don’t run a LH-centric build but instead a fury+might stacking build. I also lost any motivation to build an ascended weapon on my engineer. Engineers main source of damage is from kits so crafting an ascended weapon only gives me 4 power and 3 precision. That’s it. With current T7 mat cost, I’m paying close to 60g for only 4 power and 3 precision.

What frustrates me about this is that there has been 0 communication on why they made this change and the spin put on those patch notes to make it look like a bug. If it was a sPvP issue, just say its temporarily adjusted until that’s fixed. Or if the underlying system needs adjustment, just say it.

How did you lose anything? I’m confused. If everything stayed the same then in fact you didn’t lose anything..?

And they’ve communicated about the ascended stuff off and on for the last year. Maybe you haven’t played since then but that doesn’t change the fact that they did so it was still on you to do research about it.

Reasons you did not choose a Charr

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

My number one reason is…

Because after all the crap your character/Humans go through in GW1, how could I ever be happy playing as something that single-handedly decimated the Human race? Plus I had ( and still have ) an odd fascination with killing them over and over and over again. Even here in GW2.

Ask Jaw Smokeskin, Blaze Bloodbane, Ghast Ashy-poo, and ole’ Red Eye. They hated me, and I them.

Those are some of the better reasons to play a charr. You’re aware that the humans took the land from the charr in the first place right?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: fellyn.5083

I think that’s a bit of a conspiracy theory there, suggesting that they are gating karma hardcore just to keep people playing longer.

I think it’s far more likely that karma jugs will be on the gem store soon, but they didn’t want to make this karma nerf at the same time or people would quickly come to that conclusion. I’m thinking November or December- karma jugs on gem store.

It will never happen. Karma jugs in the gem store would be directly linked to buying power since it’s (now) used as a means to get a some what main ingredient for crafting ascended weapons and you can buy full sets of (for the time being) the best gear available.

I dont count farming champs on rotation as a “living” zone.

GW2 is worse then at release. People are not enjoying the content… they are farming the content asap so they can go back to ignoring it again.

People mistake farming for content. It is not content… its a time delay. its a cheap way to provide something for players to do, and it shows a lack of true caring that Anet was once known for.

So you managed to ask every single person who plays the game how they feel about it then?

You keep saying “people” like you did. Which doesn’t make sense because you didn’t ask me or any of my friends who play. Who by the way, don’t have any issues with ascended weapons and think people are largely over reacting and are all having fun doing events and killing dragons and kitten.

So what you really mean is you read some posts on the forum and asked maybe a few people in your guild and maybe a few more in map chat how they felt?

Right?

Notice I didnt say everyone.. or ALL people? I said.. people. plural. Multiple.

Doesnt matter if they are in map chat, guild, forums… that has no baring. There are multiple persons that do not have fun with farming FACT. How is it that I have to explain this to you? Ohh thats right… cause you are trolling.

PvE farmers might have fun granted. But I feel that is a weak attempt at fun and Id rather be doing about ANYTHING else. Maybe thats cause I have played MMOs for nearly 20 years and the idea of farming is a bit… backward thinking. I play mostly WvW in MMOs these days and the farming is just making people dumber , like watching a reality show.

So let me ask you…what do you want to be doing in the game? What do you consider fun?

Also, “people” is a very broad word. Unless you indicate somewhere how many you mean exactly I’m going to assume you mean all people.

5 planks – 3 for the inscription 2 for the haft

shield -
5 ingots – 3 for the inscription 2 for the shield part
4 planks – 3 for the inscription 1 for the handle

I thought it took 10 of each to make a great sword?

500 dragonite, bloodstone, empyreal and angur stone for vision crystal. same requirements for a 6 foot greatsword and a toothpick dagger, despite the greatsword having almost double the stats, higher base damage and double the infusion slots. In addition the dark matter requirement is also the same. As far as the other mats go, the difference is barely noticeable

I see. I didn’t consider those for some reason.

Please, stop trolling

Stop trolling?! LOL – ok, you stick to your current belief and moan whatever you like. Maybe actually go away and play another game seeing as this is so game-breaking for you and you being hell-bent on insisting another tier of gear that isn’t announced is incoming, in particular since Anet have gone out of their way in several channels lately to say, no we’d rather do something else to not do that again.

They know Ascended gear wasn’t appreciated when introduced in November, but they did say back then it would be trinkets, weapons and armor, to fill the gap because exotics became a much too easily acquirable tier of gear. Ascended gear isn’t… you do the maths on crafting it now; they got the tier that I think they originally intended Exotics to be, with only the Legendary being more time-consuming. People raged back then; it’s just really silly to see the same rage when the rest of the ascended gear now does get released over half a year later… didn’t you critics kitten enough about it back in November – in fact, didn’t half of you quit and swear to never come back…

I’m fine with the change as it stands now; I’ll be really surprised if the do add more levels but if they were to, I’d be very interested to see the justification. But I remain firm in my belief Anet stay true to their words now.

“Justification” will be exactly the same as it was in november.

+they will make you grind so much for new gear that it will put Korean grinders to shame. I dont think you actually realize what they intend to make you grind for even within this tier (if they continue on the direction they are now. If they change direction you can thank me later, though ill be long gone)

I’m guessing you haven’t actually played very many korean mmos to make that claim.

Im guessing you are too distracted by the new shiney to see past next week.

But thats ok, some people have to learn hard way.

Uhm…okay? I’ve played korean mmos. Guild Wars 2 is nothing like them.

So yeah.. not sure what you said has to do with what I said.

And I can see past next. I see the week after that when they’ll be updating a world boss or two and maybe adding a few other things.

And further down the road to when I can start crafting a precursor weapon or two. And then maybe some ascended armor.

All the while having fun playing the game when I feel like it and not playing when I don’t.

I guess this is where we differ. If I don’t like something I stay away from it. It seems to me that you tend to gravitate towards things you dislike, which I find kind of odd.

Armchair psychologists are da best.

As i said, some people need to learn hard way.

Clue me in. What am I supposed to learn? Am I supposed to only enjoy what you do and think what you do or what? Is it up to you if I’m enjoying the game or not?

Your short posts that attempt to be witty aren’t quit delivering your message.

lol, yes they do.

Okay so you really don’t have a point at all. Gotcha.

Keep on whining that anet didn’t do what you want though. I guess that’s working out well for you.

I’m gonna go play me some korean mmo. I mean GW2. Gotta grind out my carrot.

“We’ve seen a lot of questions in regards to this after the release of ascended gear: What will the core reward system be for Guild Wars 2 in the future after ascended gear has all been released? We specifically said we don’t want to get caught up in the trap where every 3-6 months the game adds another tier of gear to the game; that invalidates all your hard work and the rewards you’ve earned.”

Speaking of posts without anything said; I could say the same for your semi-trolling 4-sentence rebuff… :/

Ive “checked” it. They “hope” there wont be new tier. Hope? rofl

You get new gear “to work for” every few months.

Right?

You’re right from one perspective and wrong from another. The “kitten those players” line is just how you feel, not what they thought. Attributing that to then puts you in a position of a mind reader. You don’t know if it was hard or easy, if they felt bad or didn’t feel bad. I’m pretty sure they felt it had to be done. I’m also pretty sure there were factions arguing against it who lost. Those guys feel even worse.

He may have put himself into the position of mind reader, but so did you with this comment.

The point is, Anet said some stuff in the years leading up to the game some of which was misunderstood and some of which might not have been communicated very well and some of it was said casually and ended up being seen as a promise.

And some things were promised or stated definitively and not delivered upon.

And yes it was a kittenstorm. I get that. I know a lot of people who left that were major fans of the game. But I don’t think they were all that reasonable. Because they took a business decision personally.

I don’t think thakittens unreasonable for the people you mention to have left due to dissatisfaction with the game.

I also do not think that it is unreasonable to take personally a business decision that affects you personally.

I’m curious what you think they promised but didn’t deliver on.

The only time gated materials are the deldrimor steel ingots and spiritwood planks. Both tradeable and going around 5-6g apiece. You need a total of 12 of them for one weapon.

Only need 6 ingots and 5 planks to craft a 1 handed weapon.

3 ingots for the axe blade
3 ingots for the inscriptions
3 planks for the inscription
2 plans for the small haft

I’m pretty sure offhands are less.

I’ll probably have my axe done tonight.

For the people out there, it’s “play however you want”, not “get whatever you want.”
Gw2 is not L T W ( Log in TO win ).

I would disagree. Isn’t time-gated content and dailies for endgear exactly that? Login, craft your daily mats, do your daily AP’s, get endgear.

Are you playing the game right now? This last update has done more to get people out in the world than any update previously. Or all of them combined.

People are actually playing the game. Yes, they have a goal in mind, but so what. Who doesn’t?

Rather than posting a picture of you holding a asc weapon, show the weaponsmith dialogue.
And it being carrigon makes it even more sounds like a dropped version.

I forgot to screen shot the weaponsmith dialog since ive been up for 3 days straight I did however scroll up and screen shot the mats I posted in the chat, I didn’t know I was being interrogated, im SURE someone from Anet can verify the authenticity of my claim. Also im running a guardian condition burn build also I love the skin <3. Also I purchased all mats that were buy-able except for the ones for the vision crystal. Also I don’t think anyone can link the mats to craft it

What i was asking is: there is a method to craft more than 1 ecto refine per day?
from what i saw 3 are needed for the inscription and more or less 5-6 are needed for the blade+hilt … so it’s something like 9daily ecto refinement.
How did you manage to do them in 3 days ?
Are blade+hilt sellables?

He didn’t. He bought the off the market.
